hey what's up thanks for joining me today um in this video I just kind of wanted to touch about what it really cost to live in Bangkok Thailand um and so before we jump into too much I want to discuss the two categories there's somebody that traveled to Thailand and somebody that lives in Thailand right so that makes a huge variant in the cost um as well as the scheduling of living rent so um so I'm going to start with somebody that's been traveling to Thailand and lives here right so I'll start with myself I live in Thailand um if you'll allow me to say that for the last five or six years and so this is going to be a synopsis of an average of kind of what I spend on the month to month to live here uh please keep in mind I'm a bachelor um however I do tend to take people out to dinner and buy drinks so I'll equate for that as well okay so to start off uh you land at the airport um so your airline ticket is probably going to be somewhere around like5 to $800 us uh you'll land at the airport and you'll need a taxi to get to your hotel uh so normally this is where a lot of tourist or people coming to Thailand for the first time kind of scout but um normally I pay about 350 bot to go from the airport to the center of Bangkok um and that's about $10 as of today so you land in the airport you spend $10 for the tax um and that's a good 40 minutes plus I think so I think that should be more General instead of narrowing it down so let's go let's start back at the housing right so an apartment I live here my apartment is 10,800 B per month plus electricity so that's about 3 $50 plus $50 for electricity $400 per month for my apartment it's fairly spacious um it would be considered a big size I think in the United States so 400 um on Transportation I tend to spend probably about 3,000 bot per month so $100 a month and that's because I personally don't drive uh so I take motorcycle taxis or regular tax or the Subway or the light rail system so we'll put that at about 100 bucks a month for travel so I'm at 500 and then we roll into the food category um I'd say on the dayto day I spend about 60 bot on food so that is uh just about $100 a month on food as well so uh 100 bucks on food 100 bucks on Transportation 400 on housing puts us at $600 per month and then now we can kind of go shopping right so um so 600 plus shopping so each month I pick up about two T-shirts a pair of shorts um one of my Indulgence is cannabis so I buy a lot of cannabis and so I'd say in one month I spend about $200 on cannabis clothing I spend about $10 and uh again food is you know 75 cents a play or so um so Allin uh without going overboard on you know extravagant stuff I'd say that I comfortably live in Bangkok Thailand for about $800 per month again that's a bachelor and as somebody that understands the culture a little bit I'm able to decrease my uh my my cost so going back to the traveler coming to Thailand let's say you're going to stay in Thailand for even 2 months I think you'd still probably be paying a higher price but let's say you're coming to Thailand for a couple of weeks um I would expect you to pay uh you'll probably stay at like a mainstream Hotel a branded hotels so I would expect those prices to be congruent with America so if you stay at a Marriott or Hilton you're still going to be paying 100 bucks a night stay one week you're around $7 to $800 in a hotel um um so and on top of that food you'll probably be paying about 120 bot per plate um so I think you know for about one week of touring you're probably going to be at about 1,500 us um and of course that decreases once you establish yourself get an apartment and find local spots right uh the local spots are a lot cheaper and um I guess one thing I will t back on here is a bit of advice is when you're in Thailand uh apartments and hotels are very similar they're like the same thing um except for the name brands like you know Hilton rof those are an exception but for the most part you can go to a hotel and rent it as an apartment or you can go to an apartment and rent it as a hotel they're fully furnished most bills are all included etc etc so if you are traveling to Thailand you can ask for the monthlong rate which will decrease the price of your hotel by 34 uh to be honest um so this my apartment um if I was to rent it like a hotel would be about $11,000 per month but because I asked for the monthlong rate it decreased to 10,800 per month and so if you are going to stay for like a week at a hotel one place I would recommend that you go ahead and ask them for the monthlong rate even though you're not going to to stay for the full month it's going to be cheaper uh significantly cheaper to stay the monthong rate so a little bit of advice at the end uh thanks for your time today you guys if if I didn't answer any general questions uh please write them in the comments and I'll try to get used to responding and uh Etc so um I hope you have an amazing day I hope this was informational informal educational whatever we want to say and uh for me it's 9 a. so good morning to you and I'll talk to you soon
