871 days that's how long it takes for the average Hollywood movie to get made meaning we have to wait over two years for a script to become a finished film that we can watch in a movie theater does it actually have to take this long or can the process be sped up could a movie be made in one day no that's impossible could a really short movie be made in one day probably not but even if you could you'd have to be an idiot to try I'm going to try to make one in one day that's right for the next 24 hours I will be channeling my inner Michael Bay attempting to complete a short film from start to finish I need to think of an idea write a screen find actor film edit and Export a Finnish movie all in 24 hours is it even possible we'll buckle up because we're about to find out [Music] okay it's 4 P.M June 15th which means I have until 4 P.M June 16th tomorrow to finish this let's hope the creative juices are flowing okay I'm gonna go write a script right now because I need to hurry surprisingly an idea popped into my head pretty fast the other day I was ordering food on doordash and I thought to myself what would happen if I didn't tip but not only that what if I didn't tip in the doordash driver was a serial killer would he kill me over not tipping well stick around because this movie will answer that question 501 we're an hour in and we have probably the best script ever written okay I'm gonna be honest I didn't finish the script completely because it was just taking too long to write and I had other things I needed to do before I could start filming also I trust my actors abilities to improvise the dialogue scenes oh yeah I forgot to tell you we have actors before I even started writing I texted my friends Jake and beshear to see if they wanted to star in the movie and surprisingly they both said yes okay so I wrote this yep in 30 minutes yep okay there's a piece of dialogue at the end of this that I didn't even write out because I want you guys to improv it and so we're gonna have to take a lot of takes okay a man walks into his living room and lays on the couch the camera is watching him through an outside window knock knock now the deadbolt sounds like now I know this looks like I'm just reading Jake and Bashir a children's story but it's actually super helpful to read the script out loud that way we have a chance to easily hear what we like and what we don't like and talk about changes we want to make before our volunteers show up guys we got this boom operator off Craigslist boom five bucks an hour have you ever used one of these before no all right as Bashir moves you're just going to nice like pan okay that's it all right all right actually Bashir action Jake [Music] cut your facial expression is perfect so you got one shot done one shot kind of like thundering you look over I love that and then as soon as Jake hits I still think you should go quick go quick yeah but just like on your toes they always say start with the hardest shot because then everything else feels easy so you're just watching pretending is that your eye line right now yeah that's good pull so we shot the ending of the film first because it was still light out when we started filming and luckily there's blackout curtains in the bedroom so Ryan had to leave called in the big guns he's never done this either so I don't know what he's talking about what do you guys think about the rider strike going on okay I just need to take a quick second and point out the face that I'm making while filming this scene like it's good to be into the story and all but this is just borderline concerning I genuinely look terrified you ordered a pizza it feels like there's too much explanation of what's going on okay I think we just need to simplify it I just say who orders a pizza right off the road yeah and you'll be like I did pulling and action you messed up buddy what is your problem who orders food and doesn't tip that's good okay so Tyler left so Isaiah is the uh final boom guy oh no oh we're shooting out of order so I'm trying to just figure out what jobs we need to do to be most efficient [Music] yeah like you wasted no time yeah I like that a lot foreign [Music] this costs like four dollars and then this rope is from Ikea I don't have a stand so I tied it to my tripod but the light it looks pretty good at this point I'm just very nervous I want this to be good and I know it's made in 24 hours so I have an excuse if it sucks but still I want it to be worth watching that shot got me beat bro it kind of beat me up [Music] guys final shot of the night all right whenever you're ready I like that a lot though yeah I like that a lot guys that's a wrap good job thank you so much I'm so appreciative you don't even know dude the edit's about to be crushed you got 16 hours yeah it's gonna be close it is 12 58 a.m it's so weird because normally after I film something like this I like to give myself at least a day before I look at any of the footage but in this case it's just straight to the edit it feels weird so I'm gonna start cutting it up now and we'll see if it works after I synced all the footage I kind of got into a flow State and just lost track of time and before I knew it I'd been editing for over three and a half hours it's 3 30. I have a rough cut done which is actually kind of surprising I think it feels pretty good too like here's the problem so I slept for over four hours which wouldn't have been a problem however I may or may not have messed up the settings on my audio recorder which left me with a lot of unusable files from the boom mic the only solution was to re-record them myself [Music] he's like through the door yeah and he's so coming they said it would be more like here you want to get up once I think speeding it up or potentially taking out some chunks I wanted to add a camera shake or something true 31. doing a final walk through to make sure there's no problems [Music] [Music] I did it I even finished slightly early which was not expected here is the link to click and watch it it would actually be really sad if you watched this whole video and then didn't actually watch it so that'd be really nice if you just watched it please I'm not begging you but it would be really nice anyway guys
