hello my pants tracy throw my pants down good morning everybody how you doing today my name's andrew i'm dad hi i'm joel hi i'm matt i'm gavin and i'm daniel and we're some of the veggie boys and we want to thank you for stopping by if you're new here consider subscribing we can do a lot of things on the farm but one thing we can't do is grow this channel without your help welcome back everyone let's wash some potatoes so okay now that you've seen everything in action i want to explain what's going on in here we have our bins of potatoes that we dump into this hopper and this belt is slowed down to a certain speed so that the potatoes get a nice thorough wash because we don't want all these potatoes just pushing the others through this is kind of about slow and steady for us because we want a nice clean potato for our customers as our potatoes come up this conveyor you can see there's little holes here what these little holes do is it drops the smaller potatoes into another bin which allows us to separate them and we can sell them at different sizes and then last but not least we have our washer a washer has tiny high pressure hoses in there that help blow the dirt off and there's bristles that spin the potatoes so we get a nice clean potato now when you buy potatoes in the store most of them will have been pre-washed but i cannot stress this enough as a vegetable farmer whenever you buy fruits or vegetables you need you guys need to wash them at home even if they are washed at the place where they are harvested you guys need to wash your own vegetables finished product we got them all washed now we need to let them dry we just can't put them in the bags right now because the bags are made of paper and it'll just cause the bags to rip and tear after a little bit so we got to let them dry first we're all done with potatoes the boys are loading up a truck of corn and dad where are we going pick cabbage whoa not only do we need cabbage this morning we need some cauliflower and we're going to see if we can find any off offshoots of some broccoli oh picking vegetables in november dad when's your favorite time of the year to pick cabbage when there's ice on it that's the hardest part about picking cabbage in november and december you're cutting the cabbage your fingers are so numb if you cut off a finger you probably wouldn't know the first thing we need to get is this napa cabbage so dad's gonna get the knife and then i'm gonna carry the basket for him [Music] three [Music] who turned on the air conditioner this morning matthew or no lefty where's he he's probably got the heat on all that napa cabbage was just for one order and now we're moving on to some cauliflowers this is arctic the variety of cauliflower and this is that self-wrapping variety most kids learned on the farm by holding the light i learned by holding the basket right there [Music] that basket had no handles can you believe that [Music] there we go we got about a half bushel of broccoli in here now it's not a lot and this won't last this long but it's one more day that we don't have to buy broccoli from somewhere else so that's good it's not like summertime harvest but we got some cauliflower broccoli some little napa cabbages looks good to me it's windy who left the ceiling fan on lefty man joel why don't you leave the fan on unbelievable maybe it is summertime dad picked two tomatoes oh exciting dad and i just got all those vegetables unloaded in the cooler now we're backing up potatoes dad had bagged these up a little earlier so now matt is weighing them and then he is sewing them up with the bag sewer [Music] dad's working on getting the last bag filled up there we go we have our 10 pounders we have 50 pounds and then we have baskets of potatoes that we fill and we take up and we sell those as the loose potatoes up in the farm market what are you doing you're stealing the bale elevator using is the correct word also borrow it we have all that hay that we stacked in the red barn joel is going to get that hay because he needs it for his horses because their mouth is getting empty you guys will see the horses soon we have plans don't worry as you guys know we have two separate pens of cows we have our feeder steers over here that we're filling out and then we have the outside herd this hay feeder was a lot nicer you can see it's kind of all broken down and it doesn't look too nice that's because one day we put a brand new steer over here that we got from an auction and it just totally destroyed everything so today we're gonna try and fix this and make it look a little nicer we got all the wooden pieces taken away here and the second we did they came over and lexi tried to escape these are a little thicker than those ones [Music] i want to show you guys this is something we do with our fences for cows we have them set opposite on the gates so that they're not able to pop them off with their head because when cows get their heads under things they can lift really good so we have this one facing up and this one's facing down so that it's locked in we are stocking up pay for the horses we got a hundred bales gavin's on the wagons he's putting the bales on the elevator for joel [Laughter] [Applause] it's lunch time yep i just came in to help joel and gavin finish up because it's lunchtime and this is their setup you guys already saw it but how you feeling easiest hundred bales i've ever moved it's a little tight in here i don't even think we need seat belts we're going to do something pretty neat uh our local farmer dries all his corn and at the bottom of the grain dryer it's where all the fines and the crack corn falls out so we actually go and shovel it up and we put it in our feed grinder for our animals so rather than letting that crack corn go to waste and all those spines we come and we're going to take them and then we're going to use them to feed our animals this is the stuff we're talking about all these finds this all comes out of the dryer and if i can get i don't know if you can see on the camera but there's little pieces of corn all through here and we'll take that and use that to feed our animals so it's just free grain for [Music] us we got the fines loaded up as you can see we got quite a bit and the thing we're looking for like you can see all this corn in here like look at that that's perfect i had to run and get some salt and molasses for the feed grinder we took those spines and we put them into our cow feed so dad already loaded all the fines in we just put the salt and the molasses in so now we just we're good to go but uh yeah the feed grinder works great we just got it fixed in the last video it's a lot quieter than before and it's running really well smells like candy oh my look what you did i didn't do it lefty was supposed to be out there with a shovel i did it now that board you kicked in there is the one that goes under the jack look at me just kicking boards for fun and it's the important boards i'm kicking it just feels like it's getting dustier and dustier dealing with corn let me tell you whoa whoa whoa whoa what are you so excited about just excited a happy cow is what fat cow whoa okay daniel's back with the truck and he's loading up another thing of corn he doesn't have enough time to take it tonight but they want to get it filled up for tomorrow it's time to order pumpkin seed it's moving right along let's go this is where we get our pumpkin seed from guys outstanding seed company i think they're based here in pennsylvania aren't they yes they're here based here in pennsylvania and this is where we get all our pumpkins from here we raise these right here apogee this is a variety we've raised before
