welcome back to CAD cam tutorial today we are going to design a simple spring and cam mechanism in solid works here we will make this simple animation I hope you like it so let's start to create this simple animation we will make each and every part and assemble at the end and at the end we will make this animation so let's start to make this one now here we will make the first part of spring and cam mechanism so let me start with top plane sketch choose Central rectangle draw a rectangle from origine point exit let me Define 300X 75 mm 70 mm okay draw one Center Line exit select this line and make relation construction line now let me Define now select both these taper line equal okay it's time to Define 40 mm from downward also keep 40 mm 190 mm and here we we will define angle 30° okay mirror entity let me select these three lines and copy mirror about select this vertical line you can see the preview here okay now it is mirror it's time to trim choose trim entity power trim just drag cut that's it now this is what we like so simply extrude and extrude up to 15 mm okay now we will Define some material to this part uh appearance let's keep this color orange fet clear here keep 5 mm again select this corner and here you will see one window see connected to start pH 11 edges it is asking ho so I'll go for this connected now see it will automatically select all the corners vertical edges okay now see we fixed select backs side a sketch select offset entity now see outside select inside keep 10 mm okay and select exude cut and we want to make depth only 5 mm okay now look is sketch normal now here we want to make two support supporting wall first we will draw Center Line then exit now let me Define some Dimension relations these two lines horizont equal the same these two upper lines horizontal lines equal let's define 7 mm 37 mm and let me take the Gap 25 mm and the distance from upper age 50 mm oh okay that's fine for us now select xude and extrude up to 25 mm okay fill it I'll keep 5 mm and I'll select this one age and here I'll choose okay let me select one by one this all ages okay again fill it 1 mm and uh I'll select anyone select this vertical and here I'll see three so I'll choose this right 27 hes now see okay that's fine select this pH this sketch normal and here we will make some Center Line exit Circle draw one Circle at Center distance from here to this outer age okay it's by default 12 diameter 15 mm select line now select this line vertical let me Define this line 6.5 mm the same we will make in opposite direction choose line mirror against vertical line okay power trim and power trim and trim this face and here also that's fine okay X root cut and here we will keep end condition throughout okay that's it sketch normal now here we will make some holes so draw one Center Line First Construction line let me draw this is uh not necessary just a fix fixture hole select both the center points horizontal let's define 20 by 20 mm 10 mm and distance from Top Line 20 mm select mirror uh for creating mirror we need one Center Line horizontal Center Line select this line Construction let's mirror you can see the preview okay smart Dimension I hope hole draw one hole here 20 mm and the distance from Outer age 70 mm okay now select extruded cut select isometric view keep end condition through all okay so this is our first part of mechanism select this face 1 mm okay do look nice let me save desktop create one folder Cam and spring part one save let's check other parts here the next part is rotating bar so let me choose front plane a sketch this is simple geometry so I'll not try to explain each and everything I'll just go ahead 15 mm and extrude and exr up to 130 mm okay select this face a sketch Circle and let me draw a circle 20 mm and XR up to 5 mm okay the same again we will extrude select this inside Circle convert entity now see it is converted exude 10 mm okay here we want do some little cutouts so sketch convert entity this circle is converted just draw vertical line Center Line make it construction geometry select this line vertical and mirror uh let's define 6.5 mm mirror select line mirror against okay now trim entity and choose power trim and delete this Center C now this outer one we already only need extrude select isometric View and uh length we will keep 80 mm okay now see a sketch ra it's time to draw some let me draw one Circle here I'll connect one line from here to this exit make sure it is vertical 3 mm and keep this diameter 12 mm okay and uh draw one Center Line directly from here to midpoint and select this line make relation now see it's fully defined select trim entity trim trim now see we this shape left okay and extrude select isometric view keep mid plane 3 mm thickness only now you can see the preview okay appearance go to appearance um steel metal and satin finish standless steel now save save as part two next part is washer top plane a sketch and draw only one Circle and keep diameter 20 mm and extrude extrude up to 5 mm select here thin feature now see keep 5 mm outward Direction okay Cham for 1 mm select both the faces 45° okay edit appearance and we will assign some material color okay let's save this is part number three here let's do the next part Cam Body top plane is sketch and uh let's make two circles connect with the line select this line and choose construction geometry again choose here line and connect this exit now choose mirror entity and mirror against this vertical line okay now here we need to create some relations select this line and this tangent this is important relation this is okay here also this relation have tangent tangent okay here also it has tangent relation let's define 30 mm 60 mm and the Gap 50 mm now look this is the perfect shape what we like select extr select the faces now all the faces selected keep your end condition mid plane and 10 mm I'll choose some color so it's it will be visible okay select this face is sketch offset entity keep 5 mm and reverse okay now you can see the offset cut and make the depth only 2 mm see here blind 2 mm okay select this cut mirror and here choose top plan now you can see the preview okay C sketch Circle and here we need to create a hole 20 mm got and end condition through all okay a sketch I'll choose this Circle convert entity again Circle and this circle is 30 mm and exude and exude up to 2 mm that's fine Mirror Mirror against top plane now you can see the preview in yellow line okay now see so this is our cam body is ready so let's save this Cam Body sa as part number four it's it's even you can give the name part is bold top plane a sketch Circle 30 mm and extrude 5 mm I sketch 20 mm and extrude up to 35 mm let's make some Cham for 1 mm 45° okay edit appearance yellow is better for this let's save this part number five and let's make the last now here let's make nonstandard spring for this mechanism so front plane a sketch choose your line and draw one nonstandard line vertical do not make any relation or anything don't keep any relation just keep as it is exit again select same top front plane sketch Circle and draw one Circle here line exit make construction line and make sure it is horizontal select Circle and line tangent relation that's it diameter 3 mm and distance from here to this end 9 mm okay now simply exit and just go to Swift to boss based command see Circle selected just select this line go to option select here keep normal con specify twist value and here choose Revolution eight numbers now you can see eight numbers okay second show this line I want to see I'm going to reduce see it's change so this is very useful during animation so let's save this one as it is part number six spring now let's start to make assembly now let's start to create the animation of spring and cam new assembly okay now first of all we will assemble all all the parts so let me browse first part Always by default fix so choose your base part first Cam and spring I'll choose the part number one okay this is our first part and remaining select all these 2 3 4 5 six all parts 2 3 now choose here mat this hole and Bol Centric relation okay just go down head head backside and back side of this base coincident relation now it is fixed washer and bolt Centric relation this pH and this phas coincident relation now let's choose this pH and this Centric okay select this face and this pH coincident okay now let's see move see it's moving like this Cam and Bol Centric washer and this face coincident okay now it's time to create some cam relation so just go to mechanical met choose your cam here select cam path so I'll choose this pH now the whole body is selected now here select cam follower so I'll choose this one now see how it comes and contact it okay okay now let me play see how it's rotating now it's time to add a spring rotate okay anything like this okay choose met select this vertical line and this body and make relation Centric okay now see the spring fixed inside this okay just take little Gap okay now it's time to adj just create one spring relation here so how we will do this one select this line and click edit sketch uh okay it's asking save and continue so first we need to save this assembly save assembly now once you click save assembly now it it is going to ask you what kind of relation you are going to make so select this point press shift and this and here make relation coincident now see it's coincident choose okay smart Dimension comes in upward Direction select this end point and up to this point again es skipe see this Gap we will make 2 mm 5 mm okay now some select exit even exit from here also it's time to hide this line also select this line hide now let's try it will not reflect here but it will reflect during assembly let me oh okay that's fine save it save all right click on command manager go to motion manager motion study one up this window I'll first select this Frame and keep animation this part and assembly let's make 15 second motor I'll select this phase see this going anticlockwise this is better option for us 15 RPM okay and select here calculate now see just was this spring and you will realize the animation it may Tak see spring also compress compression tension mode once we will save this animation then we will realize how it works see spring also in compression and tension mode you will see easily here so let it finish and then we will play and it will be clear how this animation works now it is near to finish uh it's finished now let me play see it's sometime it happened but but it's no problem once once you save this one it will automatically convert it so this is the simple animation of spring
