the lord's been speaking to me in the last week i'm going to man my post till he comes back i wasted a few years of my life but i got back on track and the other thing is that the lord told me just quit quit living in your past that's for somebody quit living in your past move forward and move ahead with what god's got for you [Music] it will weigh you down you will drag it in and drag it all around with you if you keep living in your past of what you've done and how you messed up we serve a god who's for us we serve a god who heals us and redeems us [Music] and when you walk in with that old life and you leave it at his feet you say lord forgive me then that's it that's it it's done and over with for his because it's his precious blood [Music] thank you jesus praise you jesus god for was supposed to come up and here's why i love this and how the holy spirit is so good because he told me he said before i came up he gave me a scripture i'm going to read and it's about what we do in the midst of the battle and he said rachel there's people in here and i really believe he's highlighting new believers in here who are ready to give up because your life since you became a christian is so much harder than it was in the past and you're thinking i just want to go back why am i even here today why am i even here why did i even walk through the doors of the church today i don't want this and the lord said i've got you and he wanted to remind you and we see an exodus this is the very thing that happened with the israelites they get out of slavery they go and they're being set free and they're being delivered and they're living this new life but they see the enemy and they hear the enemy and they forget their deliverer they forget who is just faithful to them and moses answers he says do not be afraid stand firm and you will see the deliverance the lord will bring you today the egyptians you see today you will never see again the lord will fight for you you need only to be still but you know what being still looks like it looks like this that's why being still looks like this is being still our worship is being still because we say you know what god i'm not worried about that i'm not worried about what's going on around me because you are the king of kings you are the lord of lords you are the name above all names and i am victorious in you let's praise his name haven't even seen you hey evan good to see you but the lord's not done with you yet he's got a plan for you he's got he's about to do an alignment in you i don't know what the next thing is he said go for what i'm about to do in this house he is about to change there's a shift coming in this house and he said you need to be lined up and ready it's going to not only change this house it's going to change us as individuals and he said to take your hands off of what you think should be done or the way you think it should be done and look to me and ask me what my plans are for this house thank you jesus thank you lord we praise you lord we praise you lord if you're willing to be in agreement with that i want you to lift your hands right now and just say yes lord i surrender i surrender what you have for calvary i will line up with i surrender right now lord whatever it is your will be done over our lives lord in this house your will be done lord i praise you and thank you jesus praise says because you have been faithful over a few things i will make you ruler over many the lord says because you turned your heart when i told you to turn your heart then i will cause the things that i promised you to come to pass because you listen to me and you tune out the other voices the lord says you're going to hear me so clearly the lord says because you have remained small in your own eyes i will have i will exalt you in the appointed time i will lift you up because you have humbled yourself before me i will lift you up i believe this also is a word for this house i believe it's it's the house it's the individuals but it is for the house because if you stay small in your own eyes but what god is about to do cannot be contained in this house it is bigger than the house it is bigger than what you see it is bigger than what you've experienced before it is far greater than what you could know and there won't be a house to contain it because this will go to the street this will go to the marketplace this will go to the school this will go to the hospitals this will go to the businesses this will change your business forever says the lord and he's about to do it with those who said simply yes and those who have been faithful to the yes and yes even those who have failed and even those that have fallen short of the glory that is said before them the lord says don't you dare lay there in that get up get on your feet i lift you up he lifted me up i lift you up and i set your feet on the path again and i will cause you to walk with a greater grace and a greater strength and a greater victory than you have ever known before what used to take weeks will take days what used to take months will take weeks what used to take years will take a moment says the lord because i can do in a moment what it takes man years and years to do so hear the word of the lord he that has it here let him hear what was just said amen praise you jesus let's just thank the holy spirit for speaking to us right now thank you holy spirit i thank you for the words that you've given us right now lord to cling to to hold you to know that you hear us to know that you're working in our lives to know that you are working in your people father i thank you for this house lord i thank you for calling me to calvary i thank you for this church lord and i thank you for the people in it lord and for for the destiny of this house and what you're going to do in it and through it and we just praise you and thank you jesus amen amen amen you can be seated isn't god good amen he just he never ceases to amaze me i never get bored with god he likes to surprise me there was a word that debbie gave me a few years ago in the prayer room she probably doesn't even remember this but she was like your life isn't going to be predictable because that would be boring and i would like you to know i am living that word up over my life nothing is predictable in my life right now it's one of those seasons that's like what's next lord what are where are you taking me what are you doing and but and she said she said the lord's lord knows you would be bored but i think i might could be a little bored no i'm just kidding but um i'm thankful for the lord and it isn't boring when we serve the lord it's one of the most incredible relationships and things ever to get to be a part of if you are a first-time visitor here we're so glad to have you and we're a church who is believes in the gifts of the holy spirit and that's what you're experiencing is the lord speaking to us personally he loves us so much that when we come to church he wants to speak to us personally and so if you're wondering kind of what's going on that's what that is that's the lord ministering to us and um we would love to connect with you if you're a first time visitor there is a card and the seat in front of you so if you would take it and fill it out we have a lot of different ways to get connected this is a day and age where we need each other more than ever i need my church family more than i've ever needed them we're just living in a day and age where we need to have that body of believers surrounding us and um one way that we're doing that is we're launching some different groups within our church and this friday our young adults it's called tribe young adults is kicking off so we're going to have a service on friday night it's ages 18 to 36 is kind of the age range of that and it's going to be right here in the sanctuary and i strongly encourage you if you're a young adult get here get here because i started when i decided to follow the lord i was a young adult i was 29 years old the first time i came into this church in our young adults group i got plugged into that and that's what really gave me a good foundation was being around people my age they were around my age and younger and seeing their hunger for the lord and it gave me a desire and a thirst to go after the lord and to know because sometimes being a christian is lonely because on your job you feel like you're the only one can i get an amen anybody ever feel that way yeah and so this gives you a community to do life with so be here friday night at seven and then another way that we really want you to be connected in our church is to serve and there's such beauty in serving it's you get so much joy out of serving in our church but you also get another connection and meet those friendships and relationships so if you're newer to our church or you've been going here a while and you've never gotten plugged in to serve in any ministry we would love for you to come join us for lunch after service and we're going to share all the serve opportunities in our church and what's great about all of our serve opportunities is they are not hard to do it just requires faithful people to show up and there's something for everybody so that'll be immediately following service and um youth if you're not currently serving you're welcome to to start getting plugged in with that as well today we are ready to give to the lord our tithes and offerings how many of you the lord provided for you this week let me hear you amen so i love this part of worship and i've said it many times it's where i tested the lord the most and where he's proved himself to me the most and he doesn't need to prove anything to me he does it for my benefit right amen so today as we get ready to give i want you just to make sure that you're in the right heart posture that you're giving towards the lord and it would ask him what he would want to give if you are a visitor that filled out one of those cards you can fill it put it in here as we come up to give but make sure that you are you want to ask the lord what he would have you give today and what he would want you to be a part of in this house today amen if you want to give online you may do so online or you can come and bring it to the buckets at the front lord i just thank you for this opportunity to worship you in our tithes and offerings i thank you for your faithfulness father that you have just shown us through the years lord i thank you that we're a people that we don't go without lord we may not always know where our source is coming from lord but you are the ultimate source and you always get it to us lord and i thank you father that there are those who are sitting in this house today that don't know how they're going to make that next bill or make that next payment lord but as they are in agreement with you today father that you are going to send them exactly what they need lord i thank you for the ways you continually pour out over your people lord and i thank you for giving this house the means to to be a light to this world lord and to pour into our missionaries and all the ways that we're able to give father i pray you just multiply this offering today lord you know what's ahead of us and what we need and the provision prayer to just i want you to ask the lord lord so speak to me today because how many know every day we need to hear from the lord amen and uh it's such an honor today to just bring the word of the lord to you so let's pray today father thank you lord for the opportunity we've had to come into this building lord to gather together to praise your holy name lord we love you and we love to praise you lord we'd love to talk about you love to live for you and lord i just pray today that you'll speak to each one of us right where we are you're the one you're the only one who knows every single detail of our life past present and future lord no one can speak to us like you speak to us and lord we should so pay attention to what you have to say to us today lord we thank you lord for the word of the living god because lord your words are life to us or their health to us they're everything to us and lord we thank you today help me today lord attention just wander just for the next few minutes to just listen to what you have to say to us and lord we will praise you and love you for it in jesus name and everybody say amen well this is my third message on talking about promises from our father and uh i've really enjoyed this whatever you want to call it just a series of messages on the promises i believe it's very timely right now that we we focus on what god has said to us you know uh when israel went into the promised land they finally got there after a long trip god never intended it for it to be that long but how many know that even though we may let's see how i can put that even though we may get off the trail and the path god has for us at times how many appreciate a god who will wait for you to get back how many appreciate a god that'll wait for you to come back and love you and just treat you like it never happened how many thank god for a god like that it's because of the incredible love that no one will ever love you like the lord loves you amen you know even though he knows everything about you he still loves you and uh amen brother amen he knew where to say amen i don't know if is that another message in tongues coming up here no what a baby they got to the promised land they they lost their focus and it cost them everything and we're so close second coming of the we cannot afford to lose our focus you know max lupine said if you focus on your giants you'll stumble but if you focus on god your giants will stumble i want to say that again focus on god amen if you focus on your giants you'll stumble but if you focus on god they'll stumble and having to know they got their eyes off the lord and it caused them to stumble they got their eyes on their giants and i know right now in every one of our lives there are giants in our life and we're facing some things i know you are we are everyone is but how many know that's not our focus today we didn't come in here to talk about our problems we didn't come in here to magnify how great they are we came in here to magnify god can i get an amen magnify says let us magnify the lord together you know magnify blow him up that's what magnification is because god is big and he's so big but you have to there's times that our giants can make us look like grasshoppers right it can make you feel very small like you're just not able to do anything but don't let that sway you because with god's promises and god's god will keep you moving and slay your giants and move into your promised land amen so we want we want to talk about we've talked over the last few weeks about that god is a promise maker he's a promise keeper but what that that's god's part of it god it was on god's part to be a promise maker and a promise keeper but it's up to us to be a promised believer amen he can't do it all i mean there may be promises that have never been fulfilled in your life because simply you just don't believe god or you can't seem to you can't seem to reach that because i believe this with all my heart that when we talk about a promise it is a declaration it's an assurance that somebody's going to do something for you uh and and god has done that so many times and he he makes declarations to us that he and gives us assurance that he's going to do certain things for us but it's up to us that we believe it there's always two connections to a fulfilled promise there's always these it's absolutely absolute these these will never change when it comes to fulfillment of a promise you may know the promise but it the connection to make that promise be fulfilled is faith and patience it says through faith and patience they inherited the promises in other words and maybe you maybe let me just put it this way it's through faith and timing because god's promises are a time thing in your life and that's why you and i must have patience when we are standing on and believing god for a promise because it may not be that god's timing is for that you know when i first got saved i got all fouled up on timing of god and god had to absolutely you know and i've told this but it it shaped the shape my whole life it shaped the ministry for me and when i i stepped out of a secular job to go into full-time ministry and while god had called me to the ministry i completely got the timing wrong and when i did it caused a lot of problems uh again when one time when a car uh broke and i went to buy a car we didn't pray about it i just went in and bought a car and i knew when i drove it out i missed god i knew immediately my spirit i should not be driving this car took it home and debbie was crying i was crying and i'm serious because even though we had a brand new car sitting in our driveway we had missed god in it and i want to talk about that today how important it is that everything in you anything that touches your life should be filtered through what god wants you know when you're buying things you have to understand unless you pay cash you're on the line for years to pay for that thing i'm talking about years that you're connected to that object and there are things god doesn't want you connected to but that wasn't what god was after he wasn't after not wanting me to have another vehicle what he was after was that me getting ahead of him see you can't get ahead of god that's why the book of proverbs says don't be like the horse or the mule a horse's fleet it runs fast he said don't be ahead of me and don't be like a mule don't be stubborn sit down on me don't be like the horse of the mule stay right in the middle because if you don't you're going to get behind god or get ahead of him and when you do he's got to let you know that and so we ended up taking the car back thank god the dealership took it back and we went and rented a car for ten dollars and we were perfectly in peace with god that's the way that works see what what people underestimate with god your father is that you are his child and there's not a parent alive in here that has children that there's not a detail of their life you're not a you're not a part of amen everything about your children you know about you know in everything and that's the way it is with your heavenly father and how how many know it says if your if your earthly fathers know how to give good gifts how much more does your heavenly father want to give you but you've got to walk with your father you've got to become like your father that's the way that's agreement that's why it says how can two of you walk together unless they're agreed and that agreement is not just in okay i say yes to you it's becoming like god that's where agreement comes in is that i'm like him so i'm in agreement with him amen that's why there's so many that call themselves christians in matthew 7 on the judgment stay and they'll say oh yeah i know him yeah i'm born again and they'll say i never knew you i never knew you yeah but wait a minute we cast out devils we we healed the sick we he said wait a minute you weren't in agreement with me at all because you were not like me you were more interested in your ministry than you were with me that's why they bring it up because i guarantee you this and i can i can give you scripture on this when we see him the bible says when the 12 disciples and apostles saw him it says they threw their crowns at his feet the crowds represented the ministry that they had while they were on the earth and it says that when they saw them they threw their crowns at him in other words they meant nothing to them only what he had done was what mount what counted folks at the yes give the lord a handclap amen [Applause] only what he has done will become the most important part of your life i've always said you get around a group of christians and they start talking about what they've done you better take a step back from them because it's not about what we've done it's about what he's done that's what religious people do they talk about what they've done keep your mouth shut about it stay humble what debbie said stay small in your own eyes amen if there's any if there's any padding on the back uh you let others do it don't pat yourself on the back amen all right i believe the lord's speaking to you right now but i hope it's helping you amen so two major connections to the fulfilled promise is faith and with patience you can't have it any other way god gave us promises to give us encouragement to give us hope to give us strength and that's what they're designed to do and that's what they will do and i i asked you know a couple of weeks ago how many have had god fulfill promises in your life and i believe every hand will go up and say yes god has fulfilled promises in my life and how many know god will continue to fulfill his promises in your life but not without faith and patience amen how many know a lot of the promises of god are not on your timetable they're on his can i get a better amen so you need to scream that's right i know that one i absolutely know that [Laughter] let me ask you this how many right now there's a promise you're waiting for god to fulfill and you've been waiting a while on it amen but how many believe he will fulfill it amen matthew 4 4. i have it on the board for you if you'll put that one up for me man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of god you're not only a physical being you're a spiritual being you have to understand that there are things that you cannot buy at heb and kroger that's going to feed your spiritual man has nothing to do with it but if you're going to get fed it'll come out of one place god's grocery store is called his bible the word of god amen and that's where everything will come out of everything that you're fed spiritually will come from the word of god even when preachers and teachers like myself right now are teaching you and preaching to you something understand something what i'm saying all i'm doing is going back and i am just putting you and remembers of what god has already said and that's what blesses you it's not me it's his word and that's why it says his word is so quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword but you cannot exist even though people may have all the money to buy food and they may have have all their physical needs met they still could be dead in sight amen because that's not the end of it you are a a spiritual being a tripartite being your your physical your your soulish and your spirit man but uh how many know the only eternal part of you will be your spirit in your soul your physical man will die and it will go back to the ground to the dust that it was made from amen but you will live on and on and on and on you're as eternal it's the god who made you [Applause] the question is where you will spend eternity though you know i was listening to something that we've removed talking about hell anymore and i've got to preach a series of messages on it because jesus talked a lot about hell the consequences for rejecting the consequences of disobedience the consequences of doing things your way not god's way we've lost that in the church do you know why because people have become intolerant of it they don't want to listen to that they don't want to listen to that all they want to be told is that you're going to be all right and i'm going to tell you right now if you're in disobedience and you're not listening everything's not going to work out all right for you but it doesn't mean that god doesn't love you it just means that just like your child when they were disobedient did you just say well you'll be all right honey you don't want to clean that room no problem honey we'll get somebody else to do it for you yeah bless it's a little hard you don't want to go to school that's all right just sleep in tomorrow mom and daddy will take care of and you think god the father your spiritual father is going to do anything less he wants to know where you are and what you're doing and why you're not in the place that you're supposed to be amen you know i you know i believe this that while god we have an expectation of god god has an expectation of us if god blesses you and keeps you and supplies all your needs and that's those expectations are met then he has a right to expect things for you and i from you and i amen are you where he wants you to be amen anyway we're not talking about that today we're talking about our spiritual man and how that when we're going to grow it's going to have to come from the word of god and when you hear preachers and teachers and other christians who talk about it you go and you sit in a bible study i guarantee you the center of that bible study will be god's word amen and your relationship to it and your belief in it that's what's going to strengthen you and it's going to help you when we say well our part of god's promises is that that we believe that we we have faith in god i want to show you this in in james chapter one because i i want it to be something that you understand in james chapter one it says my brothers and sisters you will have many kinds of trouble but this gives you a reason to be very happy verse three you know that when your faith is tested you learn to be patient in suffering okay this is how we learn this is that yes i'm suffering but i'm learning to be patient in this if you let that patience work in you the end result will be good you will be mature and complete you will be all that god wants you to be in other words when you slow down and get on god's time table and you start walking according to the way god wants you to do you're going to mature and you're going to grow it's going to cause something in you to happen and you will mature and that's the greatest john kilpatrick said this uh he said the greatest uh uh heart not heartache but the greatest test he has as a pastor is immature believers they won't mature which means they won't accept responsibility and they stay immature they just flit around they just go everywhere how many know the bible says that god says we should be planted somewhere not rolling around every other place there is a there is a home church for you there is a place for you to be planted there is a place for you to be fed there is a place for you to work there is a place that doesn't mean you cannot do certain things but you have to understand god has to plant you somewhere and if you don't get planted you're going to stay immature all your christian life and you will not you will not grow enough that people can actually use you in the ministry if you're not faithful god cannot use you second timothy 2 2 says he told timothy he said commit the ministry to faithful men and women don't commit it to unfaithful people why would you they're not going to be there anyway you can't depend upon them and how many know in ministry every week we've got to have people here working somebody say amen say i still love you okay amen i can't preach to an unruly crowd in here now come on anyway did i finish that let's go back to that i i didn't mean to get off of that do any you need wisdom ask god for it he is generous and joyce given why would god put that there he just told you that in this world you're going to have tribulation you're going to have a lot of problems and in those problems then all of a sudden he puts this he said if you need wisdom just ask for it why because when you're going through trouble you need to ask god help me through this give me some wisdom help me to know what to do in the midst of this you ever found yourself in such trouble or something that's not working out you're saying i don't know what to do god says ask him for wisdom because in the midst of that trouble in the midst of when things are not going the way you think they ought to go you and i need wisdom a lot and that's what he says being like wisdom that's god he's generous he'll he enjoys that this honors god when you ask god to give you wisdom just like when solomon didn't ask for riches he asked for wisdom and it's so please god because it honors god when people stop and say you know father i know you're going to take care of my needs but i'm not going to waste my time on asking you to give me a house a car a job i'm going to ask you to give me wisdom to live this life [Applause] matthew matthew 6 says if we seek the uh the will of god the first things that god said god will add all those other things to you they won't be a labor to you the labor will come in you knowing what god wants you to do okay can we put that back up i'm sorry i'm i'm slowing down and i it is okay and the next let's just go to six uh but when you believe don't doubt him whoever doubts is like a wave in the sea that is blown up and down by the wind people like that verse seven people like that are thinking two different things at the same time they can never decide what to do so they should not think they will read the last sentence with me so they should not think they will receive anything from the lord you can't today say i believe man am i convinced of what god can do and then in the morning you doubt what god's doing you can't do it like that do you know what god required of abraham for fulfillment of that son to be born isaac it says abraham finally at 100 years old moved to a place where he said i am fully persuaded that what god has promised he's able to perform it that's when god did it did you realize that abraham was not always in that level of do you remember when he walked in and his wife sarah said okay look you're old i'm old this thing is getting out of hand god can't fulfill it take hagar y'all go in there and let's get us a son abraham said hagar what yeah okay i'm on it i don't mean that ugly i just mean he was willing so he goes in there and he they procreate and have a son the problem is that folks please remember what i'm about god doesn't need any help in fulfilling a promise he has given you when you do help him here's the bad things that can happen this is what the new testament calls it it's abraham's works of his flesh and the the works of faith see you can birth things in your flesh that can cause a lot of problems the rest of your life see ishmael birthed the arab nations came from the these are the greatest enemies of the jews the promised son isaac and that's why when they came together they could not get along and they still can't get along amen but you think about this that's what happened when abraham went in and slept with hagar out of his flesh and out of sarah's flesh they birthed something there are things that the devil is going to attempt to do if you do it out of flesh you're going to birth something that's going to cause you a lot of problems that's why i tell young people marry the right person you marry the wrong person you are going to have trouble with that the rest of your life you'll always have an ex somewhere and may have children with that ex somewhere and you're going to be hooked to that the rest of your life can i get a better amen than that i think one person said yeah pray before you get married pray about it make sure you're making a commitment you're going to make vows to that person and god is very very concerned about the vows his people make can i get a better amen so abraham you don't want to birth things you don't want to start a job or you want to go buy something see if i'd have bought that car then for the next four years we're strapped to a car god didn't want us to have because we weren't willing to wait you go buy a home that god doesn't want you to live in you'll spend the next 30 years paying for something god doesn't want you to have and a lot of these things you can't just go turn them in because if you do they'll repossess it and then your credit you'll suffer because of that listen to what i'm saying i'm telling you that this is what happens when we get outside of the promises of god or we get impatient with the promises of god and we take matters into our own hands let's love on him amen come on let's praise him just praise him here just a minute lord i praise you i thank you you're talking to me you're helping me lord today there are certain people you cannot depend on this is a fact proverbs 25 19 confident unfaithful man or woman in a time of trouble is like a bad tooth or a foot out a joint in other words you can't use them you try to eat with a bad tooth you can't put any pressure on it you try to put pressure on a foot out of joint you can't put anything on them they're not going to be there amen how many know that god is faithful well how many know his children ought to be faithful because we're like our father how many know the fruit of the spirit it's love joy peace patience gentleness goodness faithfulness meek kindness meekness self-control how many know that was the character of jesus the ninth fruit of the spirit depict the character of jesus but how many know the nine fruit of the spirit ought to depict our character and one of the things is that if god is faithful and god is dependable that his people are faithful and dependable how many know god is a god of his word and we ought to be people of our word come on somebody say amen help me out here i'm i'm trying to get through here be faithful if you call yourself a christian be christ-like amen ask the lord to help you say pastor i've never been a faithful person i've i've never people really can't depend on me i'm like a broken tooth and a foot out of joint people cannot people cannot depend upon me but listen don't leave it like that i mean come on god's not just trying to just sit here and call you and i out and and make you feel bad today that's not the purpose of preaching the word the the purpose of preaching the word is to encourage you to comfort you to direct you to convict you if it's needed but it's not to hurt you it's to help you get in the right way amen and all of us i believe need to get where god helps us become a faithful people of god amen he's coming for the faithful he's coming for those he can depend upon so there are people in your life you can't depend upon them you can love them but you can't depend upon them you better not there are people in this church we love them but they start talking about things that they're going to do we can't depend upon them or we can't use them because they're not faithful it would just be you know and people get upset with us over that but it's a violation of the word of god let's move on amen so how many believe and how many have learned and discovered through promises that he loves you how many have learned that he loves you you can't you can't go on testimonies of others for that no no no no you may be blessed by their testimony but you are going to have to discover that god loves you that he cares for you that he will direct you that he will speak to you that he will he will bless you that he's been merciful to you how many in here god has been merciful to you he did not give you and i what we do what we uh deserve he gave us something else amen well how many believe that if he did all of that and he promised to do all that and he's been faithful to do all that how many believe that when he said he's coming back he is coming back i believe it real quickly here you know our future can look unsettling at times our present can be overwhelming and our past can us and it will follow us but do you know what god promised to do with our past this is so important look at look at this verse in in hebrews 10 17 then he says i will forget their sins and never again remember the evil they have done wow that's a promise do you believe it see your past can follow you it can attack you it can you but in god he says i'm going to cut that loose from you look at look at this next one in isaiah chapter 1 verse 18. he says i the lord and the one speaking to you come let's discuss this always understand something about the lord he always wants to talk to you about things you need to get somewhere where you can talk to him whatever you're going through just sit down and talk to him if you've made a mistake and you failed him go talk to him don't run from him amen he that what's the scripture he that covers and hides his sin will never prosper but he that comes and discusses it with the lord the lord will help you through it amen so it says come let's discuss this even though your sins are as dark and red dye that stain can be removed and you will be as pure as as wool and it will be white as snow i mean i mean this is this is what he says about your past when you come to him even though it's and die is one of the you cannot get die out humanly how many know it takes god to get these things done but he says even though that dye is so deep and so dark inside of you he says my power can make you as clean as though it never ever amen all right i'm going to show you this and then we'll be closing here just give me another 45 minutes and i'll be done first samuel chapter 1 9 10 and 11. that's hard i mean after eating and drinking hannah quietly got up and went to pray to the lord eli the priest was sitting on the chair near the door of the lord's holy building eli was the high priest hannah was so sad that she cried the whole time she was praying to the lord verse 11. can we get verse 11. is it up there i need verse 11. somebody read verse 11. there it is then she made now this is this is real important let me just give you a little background hannah was barren the one thing she wanted was a child that's what she was grieving about she was wanting god to help her because she couldn't bear children and back then that was a big big deal back then amen but look what she did she's praying look what she did she made a vow wow and she said oh lord of hosts if you will indeed look on my affliction of your mates and remember me and not forget your mate sir but you will give your mates over a male child give me a son then i will give him to the lord all the days of his life and no razor shall come upon his head listen listen to what she's saying if you will that up just a minute she made a vow this hasn't happened she's not being able to have children she comes to the lord and she says lord i'll do this if you'll give me a son i vow that i will bring him back and put him into your service and no razor will cut his head which he's referring to a nazarite vow which means it's just a vow of dedication my child will always serve you the rest of their life they use this verse when we're dedicating our children it's when parents say i dedicate my children that they will always all the days of their life they will honor and live and serve the lord no matter whether they play football baseball basketball tennis whatever they are no matter what careers they're going to have whether they work in the plants or they become a doctor or a dentist or or they work in walmart or they work at chick-fil-a it doesn't matter what career my child will always serve the lord number one that's what she's saying and that's what we ought to be saying with our children is that our children no matter what they are they may be architects they may be whatever they are but they will serve the lord with all their heart folks when you make a vow to god vows are very it's a solemn did you know another version says that she made a promise to god see god's not the only one who makes promises we make promises and when she made a solemn promise that what she would do then god looked at that and honored her with that but i want you to know something okay so she said this now the last two verses and i think it's 17 and 18 it says eli answered he saw her you have to read the whole story i don't have time to go into it he said go in peace may the god of israel give you what you asked for look what hannah did she's still barren hadn't seen a child nothing's moved nothing she can tell in her body has changed nothing has happened but hannah said may you be happy with me that she left ate something she was not sad anymore that's the way we do the promises of god when god tells you something's going to happen we need to throw away the sadness the anxiety the worry the fear and say it's going to be all right it's going to be all right and that's what hannah did and it wasn't long that she went home and her and her husband bore a son and he she called him samuel and he became the first prophet priest in israel a mighty man of god but her his mother had made a vow now let me tell you something i'm closing with this there's times when i've gone to the hospital and people have had cancer they've had all kinds of illnesses and i've been there and many times i will use the verse in psalms 50 and what it says is that call upon me in the day of trouble and i will deliver you and you will glorify me and i will pray that over a person and i'll say i'm going to pray for your healing but when god heals you i want you to come back and give god all the glory see people come up to us and say oh pastor please pray for us to get a good job what are you going to do after you get that job are you going to honor god with it will you pay your tithes huh i've prayed for many that got jobs i never saw him again see when you ask god to do things for you you need to kind of make a solemn promise on what you're going to do once he does it amen okay lord i need a wife or i need a husband or i need a healing or i need a i need a job or i need to make more money start talking to god and make a solemn promise to him about what you're going to do once you get it once i get healed i will always give you all the glory once i get healed i will serve you the rest of my life because if it wasn't for you i wouldn't be here anyway if it wasn't for you i wouldn't be here anyway and from now on i'm going to serve you all the days of my life listen god told me this was a rhema word for people in here today and there are things that god wants to do but he's waiting for you to make a solid promise there are things that are not working inside of you there are things that are not working in other areas of your life god's waiting on you to make a promise to him tell me what you'll do once he does that for you what's he after what's he after god needed a he needed a prophet he needed samuel but he needed a mother to give it to him he needed it vows moved god vows take you from one place to another vows are very looked upon by god read about vows in the bible they made vows and when they made vows to god god answered prayer vows can cause god to move upon your behalf but you better remember what you're vowing see your life and my life will come to nothing without him nothing you will never ever come to nothing he said without me you are nothing can i get an amen that that's the truth without him i'm nothing i'll never be nothing i'll never go anywhere but with god i can do all things i will be somebody in god but what what will you do with it once he heals you what will you do with your will what will you do with your time what will you do with your calling on your life god wants to know will you submit it to me and let me be the ruler and king over your life are you going to just take it and live the way you've lived in the past will you do that god wants to know if i give you a good job or if i give you a raise will you honor me with the first fruits of your labor amen if i give you your health back will you honor me with the strength of your life if you're having mental issues if i put you back in your right mind would you focus on me and give me your life see that's what he did with those ten lepers he gave them all back he gave them healing but only one came back and bowed before him and said i'm yours i'm yours how could i not be yours you're the one that saved me you're the one that's healed me you're the one that has made a way where there seemed to be no way you're the one that makes all my needs come true you're the one that opens the doors you're the one that causes me to breathe you're the one that i'm living today every need in my life has been met by you that's the least i can do for all you've done for me [Applause] did you know in psalms 50 if you read that it says call upon me in the day of trouble i will deliver you and you shall glorify me but did you know the preceding verse verse 14 says this offer to god thanksgiving and pay your vows to the most high then call upon me and i will deliver you when god saves you and me our lives are not our own anymore how many have picked up their lives and gone back and lived as though god doesn't even exist i don't even understand it they can go weekend after weekend after weekend and party and do whatever they want and never think about honoring him there's something wrong with that equation christians cannot go week after week after month after month and continue to live in disobedience and walk with him they are deceived just like the ones who said lord lord amen let's pray today heavenly father we thank you so much that you have made promises to us you are a promise maker a promise keeper and lord we're here to tell you and declare we are a promised believer we believe in your promises we believe in what you've done for us our lives are not our own we've been bought with a price therefore therefore glorify god in your body lord it's the least we can do for all you've done for us we have no right to live selfishly before you you gave everything you took our sin you took our judgment you gave us your righteousness and you took our sinfulness lord without you we're nothing lord you have ever right to be lord and master and king and shepherd of our life and everything that we possess belongs to you it is at your disposal lord if we're strong and healthy today we thank you and we give you that strength today it's our desire to live for you lord help us not to run ahead of you or get behind you in waiting on the fulfillment of your promises help us not to birth things out of our flesh that are only going to cause us trouble down the line help us lord to stay in step with you your word says the steps of a righteous man are ordered of the lord help us to stay on those steps and help us not to get worried or fearful or doubt you because lord you said in james 1 if we doubt you one day and then believe you another lord that's not faith and lord we will not receive anything from you help us to get into faith and stay in faith help us today to believe you and tomorrow to believe you in tuesday to believe you and wednesday thursday friday lord until you fulfill the promise every day give us the strength to believe you every day lord we'll love you for it we'll love you for it join with me right now and just tell him how much you love him say i love you lord i need you lord my life is not my own i want to serve you i want to be a faithful person i want to be dependable i want to be christ-like it's the least i can do for all you've done for me lord lord cause that fruit to grow in me help me not to be like a broken tooth or a joint that won't work help me father in the name of jesus help me lord in these last days to keep my focus on you and not focus on my giants help me to praise you help us to be like hannah who once she got the pr the promise that she would become a mother lord it says she went home and she ate and she was no longer sad help us to leave here happy not sad help us to leave here knowing and expecting that god is going to fulfill his word in my life and i have nothing to doubt nothing to fear nothing to dread because my father's going to take care of it let's stand to give the lord a clap offering in here today come on just stand and give the lord a clap offering in this house today this pastor was talking [Music] about making a vow to the lord i was there thinking what what have i promised you know what have i vowed to the lord what have i said that i would do and i mean i'm not going to go into detail but here's the thing if you gave your life to the lord you made a promise to him the lord from here on i'm yours and i just want to ask this morning before we walk out if some of us need to take that vow and brush it off a little bit and say lord i said this time or last year or 10 20 30 years ago that i would walk with you and i belong to you and lord sometimes i just walk my own way anybody how about this morning we renew our vow we have from time to time we'll have people call us and say hey we we we're celebrating 25 years or we're celebrating 10 years or 25 days or something of marriage and we just want to renew our vows and you know what it's always a beautiful ceremony because it puts us in remembrance of why we did it in the first place i want today for you to put yourself in remembrance of why you surrender to him in the first place is because you recognize number one i'm a sinner and i need forgiveness and then we realized lord you don't hate me you love me jesus you died for me i want to remember what you did for me i was remembering this morning on the way to church i said oh lord what you did for me and he's done it all these years has he been good to you why don't we just right now just renew our vow lord today i don't i would do it all again lord because it was so the best decision of my life and i love you lord can you say that with me i love you lord and i will do it again i give you my life afresh i don't want to take it back i don't want to change a thing except that i want to love you more than i ever have before and lord by your grace come on say by your grace i'm going to follow you all the way to the end by your help your strength lord i'm going to follow you lord i know that whenever i make a vow the lord you're gonna answer prayer you're gonna help me you're gonna see me through there's people in here and if you prayed that prayer and you meant it with all of your heart and you know that it was time to renew that vow to god i'm telling you things are going to change they are going to change and the lord one of the things that happens the bible says that he says remember the joy of the lord is your strength but he says lord help me to remember the joy of my salvation do you remember how you felt the first time that he forgave you the very first time you knew he forgave you lord i just thank you renew the joy like you renewed hannah's joy the sadness was gone lord things nothing has changed maybe you don't have that healing yet maybe you don't have the answer yet but i'm telling you you need to rejoice anyway because the answer's on the way it would be not right for me to let you leave here today is there anyone here today and you say i've never accepted jesus as my savior but today today i want to name i want to say that jesus is my lord my savior and he is for and i need his forgiveness anyone anyone well then i'm assuming that everyone here is saved and you're ready to go and we need to just thank god and give him praise one more time for that lord we praise you praise you praise you praise you thank you lord thank you lord thank you lord thank you lord prayer team i want you to do something different today i want you to go to the foyer if you will and if you see folks that are new or folks that uh we want to remind all of you that would like to
