crabs i am david brackey along with michael whittle hey how y'all doing guys all right and we're getting ready for this game to start uh calhoun looks like they're going to receive the kickoff we're having some broadcast issues here here comes the kickoff and young man drives it down to the six chambers takes it at the 10 cuts back to his right 15 20. cuts to the outside 25 30. 35 cuts back in 40. and down at the 45 that was 18 adrian chambers to the 40 looks like right to 45 for the same crab to open up kerry tired on a mother and fourth of rockefeller's main brand tires goodyear cooper continental toyo and michelin get the new car tires that carries tiring on the motors at 9 broadway street that might be the first kickoff they've gotten past the 20-yard line this whole season i think so yeah good return by chambers all right number 14 for calhoun that is jace compost is running quarterback chambers in motion straight hand off to esteban no i thought chambers around the end faked me 40 50 and run out at the 22 yard line so a big pickup there they faked it esteban which they usually run and then uh kicked it back out to chambers and off he went that was a good pickup of about 20 what he got down to the 23-yard line so 27 32 yard pickup for adrian chambers new quarterback in compost sophomore yeah get some run maybe some entries out there that we we don't know about yet made a motion left to right hand off the cruise up the middle he's still pushing they'll stand him up at about the 15. so we've seen two plays one right at the middle one around the side and both have gotten positive yards well jake jacob laughlin was the starting quarterback began the season had some injuries aaron martinez came in several games played really well played real well against el campo two weeks ago but now we've got uh mr jason campos sophomore maybe whitaker wants to get him in and see what he's got and maybe one of those things that he may turn well this year and you may have a three-year starter quarterback so sometimes you get that yeah exactly second down and two at the 15 for the sand crabs chambers in motion compost kicks it back up inside and picks up about two that was a read play chambers was covered on the move out to the left and so jace just kept it and picked up positive yardage looks like a second baptist knows the playbook because they're running one safety high and and know that we're going to be be running right the middle to them but still haven't stopped it yet add second down in about two for the sand crab this is sand crabs last by district pre-district game of this of the season it looks like they gave him a first down well they did give him a forward motion so he did get a first down so like once again this is calhoun's first last uh pre-district game come in with a record of 2-1 all right accomplice under center esteban cruz busts through he keeps turning moving moving down at about the eight yard line that was number six for calhoun tony hensley's played really well so far this season is the other back back there with chambers and composting esteban so that'll give him a second down and about five he's spotted right there at the 13 and they've got to get down to about the three yard line i'm sorry not the 15 he's at the eight second baptist has about eight people in the box chambers in motion right to left compost follows esteban cruz lowers his head and he gets in looks like touchdown calhoun so that was a quick about five play drive for the sand crabs started with a really good kick return by chambers got us up to the 45 that makes life easy when you can start at your 45 as opposed to your 20 or 25 yeah that's the first time that another team has kicked deep for us they usually just try to pooch it up they give an opportunity to run and get some yards on it all right the extra point coming in for number 84 ledezma has kicked well this year extra point up oh blocked locked and picked up by the placeholder number 10 and so that makes it six to nothing no the kicker got it it was blocked and got it blocked right back to the kicker that makes it six to nothing calhoun so we missed an extra point so almost a perfect perfect way to start the game almost yes but calhoun comes out and it is six to nothing yeah second baptist is a pretty strong squad last two or three years they've gone all the way to the state semifinals in their division yeah yeah we made it all the way to the semi and they are hoping to make the state this year they have 13 returning starters well that's nice yeah you can get that many coming back a couple of a couple big uh offensive weapons for them in the backfield running backs two of them going to deep d1 schools so they're smart as well yeah you were saying they were going one's going to brown and one's going to villanova yeah well they're definitely smarter than me and you are so you know exactly right off the bat they're gonna be pretty smart but those watching facebook live once again we're facing into the sun so the first quarter might be a little a little rough to see on facebook live but uh with the sun but we'll try to try to get you some good action here calhoun will be kicking pooch kick a little pooch kick and the young man takes it right about the looks like we're going down five at about 35 so that's where houston's second battles will take over right at the 34-yard line they'll be moving right to left they're down six to nothing here in the first quarter with 9 27 left calhoun ran off two and a half minutes about five plays and put it in the end zone here comes houston's second baptist they'll bring two receivers right one left shotgun with a a running back behind the quarterback they'll hand off to the running back number 21 he cuts back up inside gets they may give him two yards about at least a yard and a half that's a young man going to villanova that's eli smith okay yes that's the senior yeah both those guys that are going division one are seniors last year the sand crabs had success on deep they gave up 30 points but they also scored 60 so yeah you know they they were able to exploit that second down and nine quick bubble screen out to the right that's one block running down to the 40 45 down to the 48 well designed play and well run a little bubble screen out to the right on the one far receiver and the other receiver blocked down we had a cornerback on that receiver but he was far enough off that all you'd have to do is just block that uh that one close receiver they had the numbers on blocking for sure able to get some distance between them and get up the field a little bit that puts him in the first and ten at the 47 down six to nothing inside handoff to 21 he scoots left and he got maybe they'll stand him up for about a yard maybe two calhoun opened up with a cover two two safeties high so they must respect their their throwing which means that second badge is gonna have a lot of holes to be able to run because it pulls one person extra out of the box there to cover the default this quarterback did throw for 1500 yards last year so he has pretty he can throw yes yeah all right here comes houston's second bat the second and eight quarterbacks look a little flare pass out to the right 45-40 and he got down to the 39. so we're kind of laying off those receivers i'm thinking maybe we want to get up a little definitely giving them about 10 yards off the ball so all he did was run like a little seven or eight yard little hitch pitch and catch yeah and went first down yeah the quarterback is paying attention that's an easy only thing that keeps you not from gaining yards is if the receiver drops it first and 10 to 39. he'll hand it off to 21 again he gets maybe three he'll push for about four maybe five so it looks like so far we've been able to you know stand up that inside run game yeah i don't think they're going to be having much success if they're they're handing it off at a shotgun so though yeah the running back's not getting knees any speed before he gets the ball he's getting having yeah you're already five yards behind second down and six at the 35 quarterbacks looking left hits number three our cornerback on that side needs to wrap him up just just chunking the shoulder at you ain't gonna get it done hard hit but he bounced off and got like three or four more yards all right that's gonna make it third and i'm sorry first and ten ball set at the 23. seven minutes left in the first quarter calhoun up six to nothing but houston second baptist is moving the football two receivers left now he goes in motion left to right hand off backfield number two and he gets down to the 18 maybe the 19 that was uh 21. is that number 21 again i just saw the two yeah the numbers are really close together yeah he's been getting most of the action second down to seven gain of three four houston second two receivers left now they're gonna run two left two right quarterback's gonna look gonna throw a little flare out again we're giving him way too much yardage yeah we're giving away too much that's just that's just too easy that's easy they're just turning and throwing the ball and the guy's getting 12 yards to play yeah they need to they need to tighten that up on that end i haven't seen you know so far where there's any sort of blazing speed houston second bats i'd make them burn me and quarterback hands off again number 21 he shoots up to the five yard line six minutes left in the first quarter and houston's second baptist we've gotten kind of stingy there yeah down there we've really done most of the the yards you've given up are from long plays so this is gonna have to be big little deep guys but it's first down they've got they got first down and goal with the one they got four plays to get it in again from shotgun running back two left motion man's coming hand off to 21 he'll scoot right on in i mean i team doing that swinging gate and [Music] yeah i guess that's good for planning you know the calhoun gets to play in the same way every week everybody's gonna run that play but they'll come out and kick the extra point and they'll try to take a one-point lead if they can get it to go through the uprights kick is up and kick looks good from here all right 7-6 houston second baptist they answered calhoun's quick two and a half minute uh touchdown drive with about a four minute drive of their own and impressive so i think okay we've seen what houston's second baptist wants to do so i think it's time on defense let's make some adjustments and uh i think one is just we're laying off those outside receivers a little too much i'd get up on them make them show me you can burn me once get your hands on them early so that they have to break them out yes it's uh another another opening quarter where there's a lot of scoring yeah yeah moving pretty fast here calhoun's coming off we didn't play lasso if we approached the play up in brian against brian rudder but because of tropical storm nicholas i forgot the name already ida nicholas nicholas i want to blew up there and both schools had to cancel a couple of days uil states you have to have so much practice time between games and both schools were not able to get that in so being that it was a pre-district game i think both schools decided that it wasn't worth the the effort and travel so calhoun got an extra week off which probably benefited calhoun we had some little knicks on injury injury-wise some players gave an extra week to kind of heal up so this is where we are here with houston's second baptist and he boots it deep again chambers is going to take it out he's going to bobble it at the four he's got to run it he comes out the five cuts back to the 10. good block now he hits the corner 15 20. 25 got some blockers 40 up to the 42 so once again for those on facebook live i'm i'm old so i don't multitask well so i'm sorry you missed about half that run but the first 20 yards that run was spectacular i'm just going to say yeah you got a lot of moving parts up here exactly but uh so if anybody wants to volunteer you know to come to home and away games just to work the camera i see howard wong down there that is the man to work the camera yeah he's probably not he's right there i think we get howard up here to work the camera he figured out but there was a flag on the play so calhoun's coming back to the where they're gonna spot her he keeps walking he keeps walking walking 20 20 yard line that's gonna be a block in the back good night five minutes left in the first quarter and it's seven to six hadn't been much defense yet kind of just feeling each other out seems like cal who will take it first and ten if they're 20 coming left or right let's see if mr jayce campos is back in i believe he is at quarterback so motion hensley number six quick pitch to him oh double reverse back to hinduism as a quick pitch from midway to hensley 20 25 cut it up gets to the 35 oh he's pushing oh no now they're saying if somebody stripped the ball from him and houston second baptist got it after a nice run you've got to protect the football you can't get careless with it and i think he was just trying to weave through players and get extra yardage and some defender for houston made a good play yeah i mean you're you're allowed to strip it out exactly and and and you got to admire the effort he wanted those extra yards or sometimes those extra yards aren't worth the the the trouble to put you in i'm sure that play that calendar has been working on all week and you think we're going to use it one time but they don't think we're going to run a double reverse our own 20. and it worked until you turned the ball over here comes houston second baptist first and ten at their 32 now our defenders are tight on the receivers but still you let him get inside that safety what happens is you've got to get that safety to come up and cut that inside route off because that's hard to defend because you don't know if he's going in or out or straight and so yeah the corner is allowing him to release inside which is going to have to have health yeah he's going to allow him to release in the safety has got to pick up on that and that's why you play two safeties guys so that you can have those uh you've got insurance there all right first and ten at the 20. handoff to 21 he's picking his way through and he gets down to about the standing by about the 17. i wonder what this kid could do if he had a uh full head of steam whenever he got the ball yeah because at this point he just has to get the ball kind of dance through there to to get to the hole stopping it really well up the middle 404 left in the first quarter calhoun down by one the houston second baptist seven to six two receivers left one right no motion man quarterbacks looking right looking right now he's throwing to the flag and just overthrew him yeah it looked like they were they were working on that stop pretty much a stop and go a little slant and go and they were doing slants all day which is smart try to hit him over the top go back that other way yeah it looked like the defender though was up on him with hands in his face who's that over there on that number 11 for calhoun i'm trying to see that number lights really haven't come on we're in that 10 to 15 minutes of weird light time i think it's this is number 12. i think it is number 12 that's aaron martinez he's moved out there to yeah he's he was the backup quarterback that played for a couple of games this year so whitaker is moving some people around offensively and defensively third and seven big third down here for calhoun's defense quarterback's gonna drop back looking looking rolls to his right throw the release screen oh and just nails that young man right the big old tied in but there is a flag and i think we may have an illegal receiver down a legal lineman downfield because there was a lot of people there was a lot of linemen 10 yards down yeah and and the way all the way like the screen passes work is if it's behind the line of scrimmage yeah and at that point they are released way too far down the line well i think those offensive alignment are taught on a play like that you internal clock you count you go and if you don't know no and if you get pressure on the quarterback like we did it forces him deeper and farther than he wants to go then all of a sudden he's hung you kind of hang your offensive lineman out there to drive not on purpose it just is what it is you're thinking okay they've been taught all week count to three one one thousand two one thousand three thousand going up the field yeah well they did they did their job they just all the action's happening behind it yeah but that stinking defense didn't cooperate nope no we love that looked like he was under pressure by uh probably ramirez number 48 48 zach all right so this is going to put the ball at the 15. well they're going to mark off the penalty they haven't done that yeah they're still talking about it it's going to be third down no matter what yeah 3 44 left in the first quarter oh decline we know we had a okay what happened was they had two penalties against the second baptist we declined both put them in a fourth and five as opposed to give them a third and 12. so whitaker decided no let's put them in a fourth down and force them to kick a field goal yeah or yeah it looks like they're going in the field goal unit so the calculated move by calhoun they didn't probably think houston baptists wanted to go for it on fourth and five this far down uh if you gotta you know if you're houston second baptist and you got a pretty good kicker yeah you know this is a 32-yard kick if you've got a good kicker 32 yards should be a chip shot in high school don't tell the kicker for the cowboys that no here comes the snap hole kick and it looks good unless it's angled off and it is ten to six so a good play by whittaker i think to force him to that uh you'd much rather give up the three points and give up the seven yeah so but uh calhoun's defense has got a little bit of work to do they've let houston second baptists kind of move it up and down the field and turnovers i mean that's going to get you every time yeah we had a good little run there and turnover put us in a bad spot to where we had to put our defense back on the field yeah exactly so and like i said i think that turnover was more of a trying to get extra yards but sometimes it's an effort play yeah it's an ever player yeah you love those but but congratulations i mean good play by the defense i mean that kid and he kind of was standing up and when you're standing up that ball is just exposed and so you're taught to strip the ball and that's that's part of the game we'll have chambers back at the four looks like uh it's gonna be hensley at the 15 and that's probably is that number eight or number nine on the far side for calhoun or number seven that's number seven that's derek selena's freshman whitaker's got a freshman playing in and that's derek salinas we have seen over the years freshmen come in and play uh most recent steve johnson started as a freshman played four years we've had several middle linebackers that have played four years off and on and have done real well so and i think for a season like this that's long and it's hard i think you're gonna have to have some extra fresh players we don't have a very big team as far as numbers kick off right to left just let it go just let it go oh it's gonna it's gonna stop at the two you gotta pick it up adrian and he gets down to the 13. that's that's something that was not well well played by the sand crabs they bounced right over his head and then did the backspin and stopped right at the one yard line so he had to do something had to pick it up and run yeah so that kind of puts them deep in their own territory to be gonna try but you know what calvin's good or busting off these oh no it's 80 yard drive looks like this might be uh this would be an uh 89 yard shot you know historically calhoun field position doesn't mean anything to calhoun's offense we can go short we can go far right as long as we don't turn over to make mistakes all right here comes number 14 jace campos bringing the offense out person 10 at r12 right hash mark coming left to right hand off to cruz 15 20 25 30 40. 47 and it looked like it and it should have been but you know for the defender you're not it's not like he was trying to hurt him no no if i don't tackle him he's gonna go right so they're gonna attack on 15 yards from there that was uh yeah but you you had to or he'd be in the end zone yeah exactly yeah sometimes or he'd have been carried yeah estefan's a big old boy sometimes you know there's nothing wrong with the past interference call pass interference if you're saving touchdowns but a nice run by esteban as as always are nice runs by esteban he can really move the football personal foul horsepower there must be a certain place in in portland i'm not sure where it is where we breed big huge fast fullbacks yeah i love it we see full backs and you think normally those aren't very fast they're big kids and also you see him run in the open field you're like how in the world i think he's crazy i think he catches the defenders off too yeah because they're waiting for just a big old paw yeah and and they can lay the wood and these kids are motoring they can lay the wood on you but i also could run right past you 304 left in the first quarter calhoun down 10-6 they've got it at 37-yard line compost comes left puts his head down and gets it up to the 33. about to pick up a four there they all collapsed again on esteban thinking he's gonna get the ball off the middle and quarterback just kept it right around the side number 19 tyler cobb receiver bringing the play in and really when you get that when you get out there in the outside like that it's really one-on-one the quarterback he has one person to make miss and if he does he's down the field if not he just it's a good five-yard game there's nothing wrong with that second and six ball for 34. in between the hash marks henley in motion esteban cruz up up push push push a lot of grabbing going on down there got it down to the 25. that's a bread and butter plate yeah just just beat them beat them between the tackles as my brother said he came to watch the first game of the against tomorrow and he's watching it up here he said 42 in the a gap yeah he said why would you run anything else just a gap so big boy in the between the tackles is a bread and butter play first and ten at the 24 for the sandcraft 205 and counting in the first quarter down by four missed an extra point that puts them in a down by four instead of down by three esteban cruz straight behind gets a straight hand off he catches about three yards that's number that's number eight out there now min way good to see men way back out there he's been kind of nicked up all season just little injuries here haven't been able to get in it's good to see that he's healthy that week helped him uh men way is very explosive i think between him and and and hensley they have both got some good speed to counteract the power of esteban yeah they're good on the defense too because they can lock down some receivers yes all right second and eight receiver right way in motion straight hand off to cruz he's down to the 12 first down he got there quickly yeah he's he's not even getting touched until the safety with his eyes super big see him running right at him and he's like oh no i'm gonna get this guy down i better go low yeah he's not even being touched until he's in like a third level oh yeah gallon breaks the huddle with person 10 balls of 13 with a minute three left in the first quarter looking to maybe go up 13 or 14 to 10. and straight hammed off to esteban again he gets down about the six 46 seconds and counting i remember playing when i was a fr freshman you remember that long ago yeah back when freshman was ninth grade was still in middle school junior high and we had a spring football against uh you were the spring players the kids in ninth grade would go the spring against the end of the high school year funneling into which was at where i was going was ray high school down in corpus 22 seconds left here in the first quarter calhoun looking to go up push push push and he gets down to about that's gonna be close to first down it's gonna take us take us to the end of the first quarter of the clock ticking but looks like it may not gonna be about a yard shy but that'll take us to the end of the first quarter but you were talking about the fullback busting through that safety getting big i played safety so we were over at the high school you know and of course we're little snot-nosed you know didn't we 130-pound freshman and got done with practice you always had like a spring game against the varsity the incoming varsity for the next year and they had we had a big old fullback for the ray texas down there when i was playing called his name was joe monroe he's just big like these guys are and i remember him coming through the line when i was out on the field and running straight at me and i tackled him but got a flag because i face-masked him oh and because he ran over me and i grabbed his face mass and pulled him down and the coach said why'd you grab his face mash you got a 15-yard feeling i said that's the only thing i could dress a proud supporter of the sandcraft calhoun football is proudly supported crabs calhoun will have it third and one at the four so we can get a first down and still have some uh downs extra to get into the end zone i would i would think calhoun makes a touchdown here we'll go for two touchdown puts us up by three three doesn't help us really you wanna you get it up to try to get it back to where you've got a fourteen put them in a two two uh two possession exactly must all right here comes calhoun third and one at the four ball in the left hash mark everybody in tight motion right to left compost oh faked it to one side and then tried to turn and just did not get the blocking good good penetration by the defensive line of houston second baptist big fourth down here fourth and two yeah they're still gonna call it the ball spotted at almost a five and you gotta get to almost a three so it's about they're gonna be they'll call it one two but yeah it's fourth and two big down here like you said yeah second baptist is stacking the box which is understandable no safety is on top yeah they're expecting crews to get in on a fourth and two he does and he gets the two gets it down to the one there so he got it so now we get four downs yeah with the one yard yeah but we had that against el campo late in the game down 30 41 to 35 a fourth and and goal at the two and didn't make it and el campo stopped us so basically the same play we ran there and then el campo ended up winning all right here we go first and goal at the one i think you hand it to the big fullback one more time if you get it real close you make quarterback sneak it coming in with compost yeah let's let's let's do what brought us here yeah the big boy right up the middle here there's a linebacker over the top there he goes and he's in oh i thought he got i thought the initial push got him in nope nope well that's going to be about as short as you can get sure now if i was whitaker with three downs to go you've got a new quarterback in he's a sophomore uh to build a little confidence i'd let him tap and go i'd let the quarterback score on a quarterback sneak to get him a little because there may be time he has to do that and now you're only about a football length away you just snap and you tell esteban cruz to put his helmet on that quarterback's rear end and pushing now there's no one over the center and there he goes and it's a touchdown yeah and that's the play and i think that was a good play you give that that sophomore quarterback a little confidence and he said okay i can push it in from one yeah exactly yeah i mean who knows how that's going to benefit a little bit down the line certainly all right that gets it to 12 to 10 i think you'll see calhoun come in here to uh get the two-point conversion yeah they got compasses still in the field with uh min way out there tyler cobb brings a play and they've got to run it from the three yard line to go for the two-point got to come up to the conversion [Music] no receipt well i got one receiver out right motion man of the outside to get one block and i don't think he did nope but there is a flag and that's probably going to be a penalty on calhoun everything's so blocking blocking yeah he was trying to block on the block is coming back in that's that's tricky right at the end when the defender turns his back to you and that's the only thing you have to block and push them right into it so that's going to be a no-go for the two-point conversion all right so that makes it 12 to 10. i say once again that was a that was a penalty on calhoun and the eagles have declined so that sets up calhoun gonna be kicking off here right to left 10 47 left here in the first half and it's 12 to 10 so i think michael this is russell cane real estate we all support the great sand crabs of calhoun county [Applause] and it's always tackling blocking attack if you can do those things and then keep the ball from falling on the on the turf there will be kicking right to left here comes kicking a pooch kick it again young man it's going to go out at 35. they're going to be a flag kicked out of bass out of bounds it looks like the ball is just going to stay there because don't they get into the 35 if they give you the 35 yeah so that's where the that's where the houston second baptist will take over 10 47 left here in the second first half and houston second baptist up 12 and 10. i see ray scott houston's second baptist coming left to right hand off to 21 he's stacked up at the line and they pretty much drop him right there yeah they're bottling up again uh i'm not sure that that's his strength but that's what brought them here is that handing off all their standing still so he's not getting any forward momentum like our guys when they get the ball they've already moved five yards full steam ahead yeah they get the ball and it's a moving object this way it's he just has to dance around and try to find a hole second nine a gain of one oh got him in the backfield who was at 64. like look you have a chance you'll stop them yep let's get the ball back probably about the 50-yard line and give us a chance to score whitaker's saying the exact opposite guys dig deep we need two yards here let's get two yards keep this clock going and maybe he'll call timeout after that and then give yourself a chance yeah i would think picks up the first down you know the clock will stop but then then he's got his full complement of timeouts with a minute so i think he wanted to see if he could get away from this end zone in a reasonable amount of amount of time third down and two they'll bring one receiver left we do have a tight end lined up on the left side are we gonna run that little wheel route that we've run a couple times this year defender backs out compost keeps it and he'll think you make all these massive adjustments at halftime by the time you get back to the locker room half the players have got to go to the bathroom right the other half the players are throwing up exactly you know you know that type of thing there's equipment you got to do and so basically a coach has a minute to yell at you exactly and then he just did yeah then you go back on the field exactly and so i it's more of a the coaches probably do more adjusting yeah they do that during the the play of the game but not you don't have time you watch those kind of movies and at half time the coach gives a round of applause i've never heard one of those other than y'all stink yeah together right you're making your mama unproud you better do something that you were talking about earlier about playing i was uh i would i played in corpus also my seventh grade year and i was at south park there and again it was seventh eighth and ninth yeah and seventh and so i was a seventh grader and man you'd see those ninth graders and i thought they're full-grown men they were huge i was like there's no way we will see the practice over there like we'll never be that big you know and then you get to you get the ninth grade exactly senior in high school and you go oh my gosh yeah right then we moved to bay city and bay city was sixth seventh and eighth so now i'm back you know middle school i'm at the end of the middle school again back at the end yeah so it was a it was interesting to have that perspective those big old dudes out there yeah and now you have a 9th grader playing on the team this game calhoun's band is getting ready for their halftime performance i'm still trying to figure out technology i can't get this phone to zoom back out once again calhoun's band is out on the they may not have one even there weird of course i don't know from where we were doing the game i couldn't see much we were doing six stories up in their building that was interesting i remember that that was way up there i was like well i felt like i was back at like nrg stadium when we had a state semifinal game when we were eight stories up i was like man a long way down i think they just kicked off yeah i think i don't think there was a pass i don't know i'm assuming because there's people running back and forth yeah so yeah that was interesting but well you look good in your mom that you got wearing that cynthia gave you a mom to wear yeah oh you didn't get a mom okay sorry i know ken's really upset to not be here at homecoming because usually he's in the home in the running for some one of the court positions he never wins i don't understand one year we're going to have to get ken bolsterbaum to win something here because you know yeah we're just not used to seeing homecoming games we see now one a year you know the kind of the the way it works in texas high school football if you're not a really good football team everybody's you know schedules you for their homecoming yeah and there were spacey years where i saw more prom dresses than i did in my prom in high school combined because we were always somebody's homecoming game and now we get one a year and it's us yeah that's right yeah nobody wants to lose on their homecoming no you've got to schedule the win you know well each and every week looks like they're adding more and more to this band yeah they're doing the band uh i like it i like their their uh at first i thought they were like hawaiian shirts but i think they're timepieces all over their shirt it's something to do with the clock or something or yeah they're adding more and more stuff to it looks good of course they have competitions as well and they they play in uh i guess i don't call them meets but they have competition yeah my sister was in the flag and sister was in the flag core and so i would play on friday nights and on saturdays we'd be in there doing the two minutes like watching the game yep watching them do in their practice that was always a part of our ritual well since houston second baptist doesn't have a ban that halftime might not be as long usually both bands play then you come out do your homecoming stuff so that may help maybe the cheerleaders gonna have a dance or something i don't know they're still out there yeah i don't see the sandets out there yeah they are see them on the far side i'm sorry i missed them over there so they're over there and then you got their girls over there so i don't know if they're planning on anything or not but yeah so we'll shouldn't be as rushed they don't have a band yeah oh nice lean there i like that i like that too all right people think being in the band is is easy man those kids are out there all hours when i drop off my son at school man they're out there they're out there they've been out there for an hour you know and they gotta rush from there and they're sweaty and go straight to school and they have practice after school and man they got at some point you got to tell the young man plant your inside foot and go north he ran right straight to the sideline all right ball spotted at the 38 yard line i think the quarterback is going to be very cognizant of where number eight is yeah let's not throw it to number eight and off number 21 coming back in cuts back 40 45 good hard run by 21. it's down to about the 40 maybe 46 47. and we got a flag no extracurricular activity after the play i don't know what's going on there there was some push and shove and i saw a young man for the eagles kind of run in late i don't know if he was running in on sportszone like now you can't do that guys that's there there's shoot yourself in the foot right there no need for that what's interesting is the head up head referee that made that call and he was way off in the back so he saw something the rest of them didn't who are right there in the middle of that scrum well probably what happens is a young man was down and a play for calhoun just got a little over aggressive and jumped on top of the pile after the play was trying to clean him out he was down and that's just but that's one of those you know that's one of the mental errors that you got you addressing listen young man you can't do that we just had a good play on defense and go up by nine and you can't be just giving them 15 yards that's a tough that's a tough sell but here comes houston second baptist they got the ball at the 38 yard line of the sandcraft man in motion right to left he's going to set up in the backfield and he's going to come back looking for a little bubble screen no he's going to be blocking running to the left good stiff arm there but drug him down i got another one who was that let me see the young man for calhoun that was number seven yards back right you got some strength because kirk is is usually one of those he's driving you back or you hit him he just stands there looks at you exactly he's a stout young man so uh all right got a third and two pickup of eight in the round gets to thirty goes his head gets to the 26th that'll be a should be a first down for houston so that'll make it a first and ten and they'll mark it at the 26 yard line once again calhoun is up 19-10 with 904 left here in the third quarter playing the houston second baptist eagles we played them last year at their stadium their facility there in uh south houston came in with a 63-30 win it's a tight game here 19 to 10. inside hand off a little delay and he picks up about four the quarterback was lined up in the shotgun and he just kind of took the snap took one step back and handed it that seems to be their little bread and butter there is their little hand off in the him in the shotgun position looks like they're working a lot more motion this time in the second half there's a lot more movement back and forth and so again i don't know if they're setting up a play for for the future a little end around a little dump house or something all right second and six got two receivers stacked on top of each other to the right giving calhoun a different look shotgun handoff inside trying to give you that different look on the outside oh young 21 sports around he did a little too much dancing yeah trying to finish trying to find some open territory and just got tied up he started running and we just stayed with him yeah i know no no gain at all so strung them out a little bit like you're supposed to third and six big third down for houston second baptist if they run a play and we we uh stack them up like we did on that previous play they're gonna be in a decision time and that interception has certainly uh stopped them throwing the ball yeah they've decided maybe we're gonna back all that but they got trips left now quarterback's gonna throw a little a little dump off to the number 21 gets to the 20. 15 and run out about the looks like maybe the the guy with the 12 so he'll get a first down so they run that trips left and and they just force all the all the defenders backwards and they just dump it off behind the line of scrimmage let him work almost uh just almost elaborate more than anything else gets the ball down to the 13 they got a first and ten to the 13. quarterbacks looking to the right looking to the right throwing it to the corner get your hands up touchdown no he dropped it he dropped yeah good the defender didn't turn his head around and he the ball was there but i just don't think it was that was going to have to be one of those perfect passes where you got to put it almost just dropping it over the top right over his head but just i don't know if you can hang on or what yeah you got to put a little touch on that ball but you know your first and 10 to 13. take a shot in the corner take a to the right of the quarterback motion man coming left hand off to 21 he's trying to pick and choose and he gets down to about uh maybe the seven so he picked up about five or six yards so a good a good pick up on second down gets you in a third in about four uh manageable they got a third and five so get you in a manageable distance you're thinking okay basically it's third and five we can pick up a first down if we get to about the three yeah they and calhoun isn't stacking the box they just still still spreading them out a little bit like uh better spread them out and let 21 just kind of pick some lanes exactly and it's working three four yards five yards of play quarterback's now dropping back to pass he's gonna look to run he got some open space but we go we're gonna shut him down he's going to be about fourth and one guy oh we had two guys two guys on the left yeah but as soon as he took off running our defenders peeled off right and uh he could have just flicked it let's watch the fog of war starts happening yeah we've been closing in on you i was watching that ball game the other night against kansas city and baltimore and that quarterback for uh lamar jackson for baltimore jumped up near and through it's kind of exactly sideways over his head i'm like are you kidding me you gotta get rid of it how you can all right fourth and two big fourth down fourth down he lets you go as a defender don't rush the quarterback just stay with the tight end because it's about every time i mean there's a certain guy named gronkowski that's made a hall of fame career going through i don't know you know as an offense the best defense against a blitz is a run yeah because you're going to run right past the blitzer he's not looking for a run he's looking to move the quarterback backwards and so a lot of times maybe we're doing that like hey we just can't let this guy bust loose on us yeah of course the quarterback hasn't been under center all game he's been a shotgun a shotgun too so if it is going to be a blitz it'd have to be a late one yeah so yeah maybe it's more like uh let's just keep the guys in front of us and and so far tonight they've done a good job a good job i really haven't had a long really a long run i've not busted a long run no so that you keep them in front of them you make them earn the yard it's 19 to 17 calhoun over houston second so that missed extra point uh is a big one the big one yeah that forced us into going for two which we missed so if we make the two points it's 21 we don't lose anything but now you know they've only got technically if it's a tight game like this going into the last part of the game they've just got to kick a field goal and they win by one yeah it looks like a very capable kicker he's been very confident and making him from a long ways and off the cruise up the middle push push push and he gets out to the 37. so pickup of about four or five good he just fell forward for five carrying about yards yeah it's like they're they're not running a a set defense they got one safety back and three linebacker two linebackers and then two yeah second linebacker i mean calhoun's offense will cause confusion defense because it's just not a base a basic offense you see and it's it's odd for your defense cruz up the middle 50 48 crosses the midfield yeah calhoun's offense if you only see it once a year and then you expect your scout team to run that off right no it really puts and really what it does it it puts your uh your safety's in a weird position because he's used to coming back to defend the pass that's not coming and so now i've got to get up and defend the run that i'm not used to defending because i'm used to playing against teams that run four and five whiteouts and i've got to cover a third of the field behind me and sometimes that safety just get kind of lost yeah well and here they they when they bunch everybody in the linebacker's like where do we go yeah we're all just going to stand back here and second and four and they got compost behind the line that time the linebacker jumped right over yeah that time the line i just figured it out yeah and and got the quarterback before it could barely even get the ball so that'll put us in a third let's see what they call it here the ball spotted at the right at the 50. at the 15 week about 36 a loss of two yes the defender on that one got it figured out he just he just jumped literally jumped over the whole line you know the problem is he's thinking i got this offense figured out and watch us run right past really well and aaron did in two games this year but you're bringing your new quarterback in on the third and 12. he's gonna kick it back out to the outside good block on the outside nice he just lay some wood to the defender but he held on and that's gonna make it fourth down in about two yeah this is uh this is going for territory oh yeah like martinez is staying in the game at the moment gonna be three yards fourth and they call it four but the ball's at the 37 and you have to get to the 33 and a half so technically they'll call it four but it's about three it's a long three long three here all right let's see what calhoun's gonna do in the fourth down chamber's in motion esteban nope martinez gonna keep it and got tripped up he should have pitched it he had he had chambers all alone on got to go for it gotta go for it fourth and long fourth and ten timeout drop your 10-yard play there coach it just kind of seems like tonight's game michael it's kind of an off game even for our offensive line it is uh maybe that week we had off didn't help us uh just they just kind of been off a little bit haven't really been dominating on the offensive line like they don't like they have been through the through the season so far yeah because we we we've played teams that are bigger than them oh yes and stronger them and faster than that yes i mean just just the el campo game unless it just took it all out of them yeah and it went off you had the week off and we've got injuries and i mean i don't like blaming on injuries because this next man up yeah but you're talking about this this part of the the season you know if this is going to happen it's better to have this this kind of game right here yeah last pre-district game you get another week off good weekend yeah the the way we played against we if we played tonight like we played against el campo this game isn't close we're blowing them out yeah i mean they're definitely they're they're they don't have the size they don't have the speed yeah they don't athleticism all of that that we faced and yet for some reason they're out playing it it's outplaying us yeah you know and so hats off to them i think that's 63 to 30 slacking they got like last year and they're like we're not doing it they marked this on the calendar and said i think so we're gonna show up fourth and ten for the same crabs quarterback's gonna flip it back to aaron martinez got a man open he's gonna kick it out you got to catch it compost you got to get the first down yeah what a place okay there's your there's your 10 yard play right there good 10 yard play there guys put put both quarterbacks in and let the let the uh one quarterback throw it to the other one that's a good play yeah yeah you know so this gives you the spark you need the ball's at the 22 220 but you had to call a timeout so you're only down to what one time out got to be said two guys moving around some confusion on offense got plenty of time on the play clock martinez keeps it kicks it out no he keeps it 25 30. go down down yeah don't try to be and they're ripping the ball yeah all they're trying to do is just rip the ball yeah yeah we're just smart which is smart they get that they're holding you up and then and then there's another guy's coming in there ripping so if you can't bench 400 pounds and don't try to sit there and hold that ball with other dudes hanging on all right first down to 10 but down and distance doesn't matter it doesn't matter it's just the next down minute 48 and counting got a receiver left fake pitch quarterback rolling back right gonna throw it out to 18 chambers oh that's a forward pass that thankfully that would have been a touchdown without even thinking about it incomplete pass does stop the clock in a minute 31. it's an exciting time of year again it's scaling sandcraft football and bay shrimp season at miller's seafood 1102 broadway in port lavaca fresh off their boats daily you can't get them any houston's saying they got it uh he was down he was down he's dead he's down yeah if he was down he was down saint calhoun ball do we call timeout ball at the 34. oh my god timeout all the eagles somehow are now um referees and yeah the coach for houston second baptist is a little upset i think because of the clock didn't start you know out and he thought they got the fumble and yeah well i was about to sell now you need to watch yourself because you you're a baptist church school but i've been in some bad business meetings too so you know exactly or if you've ever ever played intramural football or softball for the church league oh yeah i think when i was down in corpus for years playing softball yeah for second baptist we played in the open league i got kicked out at least once a year that's part of it and you know basically questioning whether the referee or the umpire needed glasses exactly yeah i was being helpful started calling them tso texas state optical where are you at now either way the eagles are not the referees the referees are out there let them do their thing all right minute 27 calhoun up by down by four third and eight all right you know this is probably not the time to try some tricky pass play you you've got to run your offense your offense is what's made you successful for 15 years don't deviate was that everybody jumped off well no what happened was the quarterback gave the snap count uh he expected the football the center didn't snap it and it kind of delayed and so it just blew the whole play up this is this there needs to be some urgency here because uh they need to have the the one and two plays so you go right back up the line of scrimmage right after the play because time is not your friend right now no you're at a minute now quarterback rolls to his left pitches it to chambers 30 35 get out of bounds get out of bounds there you go that stops the clock that's fourth down that's four down that's ball game i'm sorry that was fourth down i was thinking it was third fourth down 50 seconds left so houston second baptist will take it over on downs and they'll let's say something really weird happens they'll come out with a 23 to 19 win and you can look at the players for houston's second baptism meant a lot to them they understand who they just beat yeah that is uh they just realized they beat a quality football team that they and they just really honestly overall calhoun played in spurts at times well overall they just played the sand crabs it's almost almost like a different team than what we saw last time we played i think it's almost admit i don't know if it's mentally or or physically or what i mean the numbers are the same but they're definitely playing a lot different yeah something happened yeah and you have you have bad days yeah no that's true you have bad days but you know you'd rather do that now than in two weeks clean up some of that yes we had some turnovers bad snaps we had some mental stuff that we've got an extra week because we don't play next week it's our bye week before district we've got to get it you know straightened up we open up against beeville there are no slouch and then chalosa midway then we hit the meat of it miller alice and cal island those are three three biggies right there exactly so calhoun the clock is ticking down at 27 so calhoun's gonna end up losing this ball game 23-19 takes them to two and two on the season uh and then a week off and then we start district play like you say against beeville here so calhoun's gonna have to clean up some stuff uh and i think most of it just mentally just clean up some stuff uh as you get into district you gotta play consistently better than you played tonight uh in spurts you played well we saw a new starting quarterback in campos i thought overall i thought he i think i thought he played well but there were some there were some uh exchange issues uh and practice is one thing game times are totally different exactly and and some of our some of our studs they they drop the ball and and let some some players let the players in and and through that they normally wouldn't so for whatever reason you know it is what it is tonight but some you know some some positives uh the opening kickoff return by chambers 45 yards nice great nice to see minway back at full speed right on that interception for a touchdown only touchdown we scored in the second half yeah but it's nice to see men weigh up at full speed if you can get him up at full speed you put him hensley
