Building a Bottle Cap Table - Every Step

in this episode we've got a fun project we're turning this roundtable into a bottle cap table I've got some tile adhesive left over from the towel bathroom project we've got these caps straight off eBay on the edge I've got this flexible shoes home screen place that's gonna be the what holds the epoxy in place the only thing you've missed that problem there on the edge the perimeter with red and orange caps the wrist is gonna be pretty much random it's time to start sticking them now you could use the epoxy to glue the cap down you want the caps to be firmly down when you go to epoxy them you don't want floating up but I'm gonna use this tell he's I've already have it's free epoxy expensive this if I get on my hands I'm not really gonna worry too much about it the other epoxy I don't want on my hands is kind of strong smell so we're gonna start by dipping some of this out smear it on the table and then we'll just go around with the red caps right up to the edge pushing them in you didn't see that you we're back here with the table the center has been filled in everything's dry it's ready for grill I've got my gloves the grout is mixed it's in the bucket this is leftover grout from the bathroom tile project I'm gonna smear it on supposed to make the clothes pop a bead got in there so tables been drying down on a gym 15 minutes it's got some really big cracks between the caps i'ma did a little sample wipe test just with a rag it is I've had sitting on the ceiling fan for about proper 10 more minutes the Cape's looking Drive the grout still looking wet give it a rub down I'm here doing the very last wipe down that sides been wiped this sides gonna be wiped next and we're gonna be done and then I'm gonna these gloves off oh good cool well girl what do you think about it cool I love it too it's really awesome - cool I got - I got one dope which means something good all right I'm gonna turn the camera off now next time you see it will be pouring a puck ceiling well I got to put the border on then we'll be putting epoxy in oh and the gloves have to come off I see you do it like that like this I'm back with the bottle cap table and it's now time to put a trim board on the perimeter to hold the epoxy I got this board this is not real wood it's very flexible if you had a squirt table you wouldn't worry about it but on a round table and I just came back from the table saw I had to cut off a little bit it's gonna be sitting on these little fancy pieces it would have been too high I've been too much eggs boxy and too expensive so they've been ripped down it'll sit right on top of these it's gonna be about 1/8 inch of epoxy on top of the caps and these I won't be screwing those on because I'm one inch Cruz where we are now I have put some pot holds in there's one about every foot and I've started putting the trim home and this trim is good and flexible watch this pull it around screw in so the tape has been painted white there's blazing as can that's making it like a beach rustic table and then on to the epoxy supposed to be later tonight we have modified the location a little bit it's now on the back porch is a closed-off area I'll get the fan up in the window for some ventilation pulling the fumes out if we look at the table the level says level we spin it the level says level I'm gonna mix the epoxy here is the epoxy this is tabletop epoxy Part A Part B you mix them you stir them then you form on the table and you might want to read the precautions on the back there's a long list chant supposed to previous place to touch it you're supposed to drink and I supposed to eat it hearings was the look at it maybe gloves maybe respirator ventilation on okay it's up on the floor time to stop talking and start mixing so this epoxy is supposed to be portable self leveling and crystal clear only palm has open B before I open a should I pour in be first what do you like first maman that's the final percent of everything not to put the phone down this quiz this bottle now part a is already in the bucket I'm a poor in Part B and then I've got to mix it for three to five minutes gently mix it trying to get a bunch of air bubbles into it and there's a mosquito in there he somehow made it to the house with all the people in the house to fight you land in this bucket of epoxy I'd be sunbathing pull him out and get his DNA and make new dinosaurs B flows through the night you're my mixing stick I'm gonna go at it it's all mixed up I'm gonna pour it all on there whatever runs are the edges that's fine look at blast there we go slick as glass this is the morning after that means the epoxies been drying all night it's just like glass there's no getting those clothes back up nice tuck an index card in here it's permanent and then Tom froze there was some leaks Cologne those icicles about a poxy sickles they're on their way down and they froze transol it I have to get the grinder and take off these water drops good just leave them make people think they spilled something and then upstairs it's like a class I got to show you some of our favorite caps I'll get his tour putter here there's a little something at the hand oh it's the love playing with the epoxy icicles and look there's money flashlight another shelter Oh lighten up at the Hat yep happy camper there's a happy camper others a camper okay somewhere hang on here's that camper one of my favorites matches her hair could I like the stop sign bottle cap now we're just all my other types of table tops what you doing a puzzle you do stamps let me somebody is I like the route 66 caps there's actually three on here I think somebody's caps remember net one with a heart on it you had three to seven think of it there's the other route 66 oh right there's the third they even threw in a VW bus for me if you thinking man he drinks too many sodas the only thing I drink on here was the IVC black cherries the root beers there might be some cream sodas all these came off with Amazon eBay it was pretty funny we have one leg it got into a puddle of epoxy when I pulled out it pulled the paint off that's fine it can be repainted memories
