hey guys here's how to build a sales funnel for free using wordpress and other free tools so let's go to the computer now and i will walk you through it step by step so the first thing that you need to do is define your goals so for me it's all about lead gen and then converting those leads into customers so for you it might be completely different you might have a different end goal so for you it could be to promote affiliate offers and that's perfectly fine too because this works no matter what type of business you're on so you need to decide what your goal is going to be and then adapt this accordingly then we need to install the tracking codes to make this work so i'm talking things like google analytics install your facebook pixel if you want to and certainly in install the eps tracking code so that's the email service provider tracking code if you're using a service like active campaign which is what we're going to use in in this funnel then it already gives you that code that's easy to find if you're not sure where to find that with your eps reach out to them ask them where you can get that tracking code it is really important we need to know what our visitors and our prospects and our leader are really doing on our website so we can track things accordingly then we have to make the email form so because i'm focused on lead gen and i really encourage you to be focused on lead gen 2 no matter what type of business you're running because that is ultimately going to be the most profitable way to to to generate revenue from your business so we're going to make that email form an active campaign then we're going to create an automation sequence around that form so what happens is when someone subscribes to your email list through that form they are tagged accordingly to to the action that they've taken or the page that they're on and then because they receive that tag it triggers an automation sequence so if they don't buy from you they experience a follow-up sequence then we're going to start building the pages so we're going to build the landing page that's your opt-in page squeeze page then we're going to build a thank you page or the the page that gives them the free gift the lead magnet you'll see on mine i've already got a page loosely built i'll show you how i'm doing it and then we're going to build a sales page as well if you want to sell stuff now at any point on here you can you can swap out pages you don't have to build all of these pages if you don't want to but it's more about the process and thinking in terms of taking someone who doesn't have a clue who you are to trust in you enough to do business with you that's the sales funnel process then we're going to choose a shopping cart we've got a few options here just to make life easy for you i'm choosing um woocommerce now full disclaimer when it comes to shopping carts and in fact funnels all together i am using kartra at the moment but i understand that you don't want to spend you know two or three hundred bucks a month on a funnel builder which is fine so this is going to serve you well but when it comes to choosing shopping cart we've got more options so woocommerce is probably the quickest and the easiest to get up and running but it's not the best by any means i think if you were to go deep with this and get serious about it then maybe something like sam cart or thrive cat might be a good option for you but we're just going to use woocommerce because it's nice and easy and as we go through this process remember that good copy trumps bad design so what that means is you can have a pretty bad badly designed page but still have amazing conversions so put less emphasis on the design and more on the copy on the offer on how you communicate to your prospects because that's ultimately what they're there for they're not there for a nicely designed website sure it probably helps but you know it's all about the words it's all about the offer excuse me so the tools that we are going to use we've covered some of these already but wordpress obviously we're also going to use elementor now you can choose another page builder if you want to we've got other options we've got divi we've got beaver builder what i will do is put a list in the description of other page builders if you don't want to use elementor if i forget to do that do remind me i've got a habit of forgetting to put links in descriptions and just remind me i'll do that elementor is a free plugin there's a premium option available i use the premium one but i don't think you really have to upgrade unless you want some of the extra features we're also going to use active campaign you can choose another email service provider if you want to aweber will probably work really well mailchimp get response again we've got loads of options i'll put a few links in the description for you if i remember do remind me and then we're going to go with woocommerce for the shopping cart again other options are available thrive cart is very good sam cart is is another good option too but it is ultimately up to you okay so let's go back to our list here and the first one is to define your goals so we've already just decided that i think it's to build uh build an email list and then convert that email list into customers tracking codes okay let's go to wordpress let's go to the plugins section and this is my personal website which i'm really not doing much with at the moment i'm really just using this for testing try out new ideas and stuff but it won't at some point i might turn it into something so here we've got a bunch of plugins what i'm going to do is show you a couple that i use so the first one where is it sitekit by google site kit psychic site kit by google um that's a good option to have but in this instance for me i've disabled some of it and i prefer to run my tracking codes in this the tracking code manager so if you just type that into the plugin section so let's go to add new plugin open a new window i'll show you that type in tracking code manager into the keyword section here you're going to get a few options choose this one tracking code manager there you can see i've already got it installed let me show you because if we click on settings it's going to take us to this page so here you can see i've already got my google analytics installed and that is set to run on every single page now what i want you to do is go to your eps your email service provider get your tracking code if you're using active campaign let me show you how to find it so here we are in activecampaign if you go down to the settings option here click on that it's going to take you to this page click on tracking and now you can see this is so new i haven't even set it up for myself yet we want to make sure that we enable site tracking so if we go down here add website url so i'm going to add https make meanie.com because it's my personal blog that i'm just really setting up click add now it's whitelisted and if we go down here to tracking code we want to grab that code copy it if we go back to the tracking code manager click add new tracking code i'm going to call this active campaign code paste in the tracking code there where do i want to position it inside the code i want it above or before the closing head tag so that captures the the maximum amount of traffic available only show on device so if you listen just keep that all leave that as is and then where do you want to add this tracking code standard tracking code in word word uh wordpress just go with that for the moment you can track conversions in your e-commerce if you want to takes a few extra steps if you want to if you want to set that up you can do i'm not going down the avenue at the moment so just standard tracking code and then in which page do you want to insert this code you want it in the whole website so on every single page of your website do you want to exclude it from some pages just leave that alone i think and then click save and now the tracking code from activecampaign is nicely installed and running so it's going to take a little while for that to fire properly and start collecting data so that's why i'm saying we set it up right now the very first thing we do is install all our tracking codes before we do anything else to give it enough time to gather data and the good thing with this tracking code is you can also install things like your facebook pixel if you want to or google adwords code so the the tracking code manager plug-in is pretty good not associated or affiliated with it in any way okay so let's go back to our list so we've got the tracking codes done so we can check that off now we need to make an email form so if we go to where is it let's close that window if we go to activecampaign here on the left hand side we've got forms if we click on forms we have the option to create a form click on that let's give it a name so what should we call this form i'm going to call it mcmini lead magnet and then let's give it something a little bit more descriptive so i'm going gonna say make me free course opt-in okay and then action we can subscribe to a list a tag emails we just want to subscribe to a list then select list here we have our lists click that click create and now it's going to allow us to make that form so here what we really want to do is just get that form in fact if we're using elementor we don't really have to bother with this step too much but in case you're not using elementor what we really want to do is just make this as clean and as quick to use as possible so delete all this stuff and [Music] we just want to make sure that we have the bare essentials which is your your name we want to want to ask people what their name is and their email address so here full name we don't really need their full name so we just say something like type your first name and then email here we want to say uh type your best email address or your primary email address and then submit button we don't want to have it just our submit we want to give it something a little bit more um elegant so maybe yes i want this if if we um put things in first person terms conversions tend to increase so instead of saying subscribe or submit if we say yes okay the word yes is really important when it comes to good copy because if we have something agreeable people will more likely take action so yes i want this or yes send it to me something like that yes send it to me or yes give me access you can see how how this works right we were putting things in first person terms okay and now we can go ahead we can trigger automation it'll take us to this page so we're not really going to delve into the automation stuff just yet because if we go back to the list so we've made the form next is create an automation sequence we're not going to do that just yet but we want to make sure that they're tagged in in the appropriate way so it's really simple we just click this button here we go to contacts and click add a tag so now we we can call them anything we want so let's say i'm gonna say free course lead and click save and there that's done now soon as they subscribe to the email list they're given that tag which will then trigger a separate sequence which we're going to build in a minute the reason that we do this so we could add a sequence of events in this section here but we don't want to do that because we we might want to handle leads and tags in different ways later on so we're planning ahead here so should things change in your business should the offer change should the sequence or if you want to add extra funnels to your business now everything is kind of it's all separate and easier to manage so it's almost modular so you can just go in make the changes to uh to the things that you want to and it doesn't really affect anything else so that's why we keep things separate okay so that's a really simple automation we click active there we go and that's done so now when anyone subscribes to that that form let's go back to the forms and we should see it there we go okay now we can get this form so if we go to we can get the form code later on so if we go to integrate integrate into grip anyway we can we can actually hook it up really sim really easily so we can get the simple embed form code there or we can have a full embed code there we can just have a link to to the form page we can integrate it with wordpress if we can add it to download if we want to now if you're not using elementor if you're using some other page builder even if you're just using a standard wordpress page without anything fancy what you can do is just get that code so copy that code drag in notepad and then paste in the code for later on so what i'm going to do is just take a copy of all the code because i might want to play around with it later on so here i've just got notepad or the mac equivalent of notepad and then i've just pasted in the code and now i can add that to pages later on if i want to you'll see that using elementor it already integrates with activecampaign i'm pretty sure so there we go so click save and exit and that's done okay so if we go back to the list now we have make an email form done okay so now we can move on to the next step which is to create an automation sequence so this is where let's go back to active campaign so this is where we build the email sequence so if we go to automations we can click create an automation and we want to go start from scratch click continue and now because we added the tag previously we want to trigger that tag and my computer is running a little bit slow at the moment maybe it's because i've got the screen recording stuff going on and maybe the internet is slow here we go okay cool okay so start a trigger what we want to do is trigger this sequence when a tag is added so click tag is added click continue and then we choose the tag so remember it was called free course lead that was it and we want it to run once and then advance segment the contacts entering this automation we don't need to worry about that then click add start okay so here we've got a few options really we're going to be focused with sending an email and then we're going to be adding weight so these are really the only two things that we have to worry about we can do other fancy things with this with this automation but we don't need to go down that road so let's start as soon as someone's is subscribed to this sequence or this automation if we click send an email click create an email to get started so we can say let's say welcome to the email list or you can just have it as simple as you want maybe welcomes just better isn't it so let's click create and now we can put together the actual email so i'm just going to choose a template make sure that the sender details are correct so it should be your name there make sure that your business email address is there and you really want to avoid using a gmail or anything like that so this is an email account that i intend to set up i'm kind of doing things backwards here because that's just how i tend to work because i i think it's best to start with the end result first and then work backwards and you know then you know that everything is is it's kind of got clear direction okay so make sure that your email address is set up and it's all good to go now you choose an email subject so i like to go with something like um here's the thing you asked for obviously here you're going to change it so it's relevant to you so here's the the code the digital marketing course you asked for we've also got personalization so if we click on here we can add in the uh the full name first name last name let's just add that in there what i like to do is put it right at the very start because what's that saying what's the sweetest sound a person can hear it's their own name so i like to put it straight the very start of the email so people it connects with people and increases the open rate okay that's looking okay if we click continue now where is it okay so here we can put in some copy and we want to keep it pretty simple something like you asked me to send you we want to avoid using the word free and emails we send you a digital marketing of course the reason why we want to want to avoid using the word free things like cash money there's spam trigger words that email service providers like gmail and hotmail they scan each email before it goes to someone's inbox so that's why we have things like spam folders we have promotional tabs and these are things that we need to be aware of because we want our emails to land in uh people's inbox as much as possible we have limited control over that but the us the the areas that we do have control over we want to really make sure that we're doing things properly so we need to avoid using words like free and cash and money and there's there's a list online again what i'll do is take a little note to to remind myself to list oops list trigger words what i'll do in the description has put a link to um other words that you should not use in your email copy excuse me okay so the email you asked me to send you a digital marketing course you can get it get it oops here and then we put in a link to uh to the thank you page which will build later on and then say something like hope you enjoy it keep it really nice and simple then click save and save and click next sorry now you'll have a campaign summary so i want you to scroll down and then click send test email so make sure that you you test these emails out before the thing goes live because you want to make sure that it actually arrives in your inbox so if it goes to the to the promotions tab maybe reword it change thing change things a little bit you can't really have complete control over that there's only so much you can do but if it's going to spam then you need to take drastic action you need to really reword the the subject title or the copy just change it so it doesn't go to spam then when you're happy with that you click finish and now it's going to take us to okay the sequence where that looks set up okay to me so it's selected the right email click save and now we need to add a weight so these are this is conditions and workflow click weight wait for a specific period of time now here you can do a couple of things so you you can either wait for like maybe a day or two before you send the next one or you can wait until someone has opened and read that email now what i've found is if you if you wait until a specific condition is met the the overall open rate and engagement level of your email list is pretty pretty high because people well over time it becomes really good because you scrub your list as you as time goes on but scrub your list means you just remove people who aren't engaged or active or opening emails so if we wait until the specific condition is met they will only receive emails based on previous actions which is incredibly powerful but what i found is a lot of people will just wait until a series of emails has already been delivered but before they really start to pay attention and go through what you've got now if you're only sending one email one time until they open it you're missing out on a lot of opportunity so i recommend that you go for weight for a weight for a specific period of time if we click on that then we can wait as many days as we want i'm going to go with wait one day click save now we can add another email so click that go to sending options send an email create a new email this is going to be day two or second email click create and now oops again choose the template make sure that everything's in order here email subject let's put in the personalization thingy and then we want to trigger curiosity so did you know about this click continue and then we can say something like yesterday i showed you how to x y z oops xy z but did you know about this and then we can have a link there this explains why x y z so you can a b c okay so what's happening here is we're giving benefits so first of all the email subject line is curiosity triggers curiosity increases your open rate then we remind them yesterday i showed you how to so this is uh a step towards building more reports but it's building familiarity can't pronounce things today okay and then we say i'll show you how to xyz so benefits we're we're reminding them that they've received value from us and then we're following up with the curiosity the curiosity that we built in the email subject line by saying but did you know about this and then we have a link to a piece of content now what that piece of content is is completely up to you depending on on what you're offering it can be a sales pitch sales page doesn't really matter but we follow up there with this explains why so again we're delivering on the subject title so we were giving more reasons here and then so you can this is uh this is persuasive copy so you can abc and then we give them benefits and then sign off so enjoy or hope you find this useful sign off there and then click next again test the email make sure that it goes to the inbox or promotional certainly not spam and then click finish we'll go back to the um to the other page okay so that's a very basic sequence make sure that the right email is selected here click save okay so you can stack these for as many days as you want you can put in as many offers as you want as long as it's relevant to uh to the lead magnet and all the other content relevancy is king here and then we click activate and that's done okay so now as soon as someone subscribes to that form they're gonna get begin receiving your email sequence good stuff okay so let's go back to our list so we've got this all this stuff done next we need to build a landing page thank you page sales page choose the shopping cart okay so we've still got a bit of stuff to do that's okay let's go to wordpress so if we go to plugins actually if we go to add new plugin type in elementor elementor page builder click activate on that install then you're good to go now i've got the pro version but you don't need to do that even if the the free version isn't properly or fully integrated with active campaign don't worry you've still still got that code that we copied earlier the opt-in form code okay now we go to create a page so click on pages add new and we want to call this something relevant so maybe free course landing page so free course landing page save draft excuse me i'll have a drink my throat's going today okay so if we click uh edit with elementor it's going to give us loads of really nice options here elementor has got some ready-made templates available so you can just take them and use them and modify them if you want to or you can build your own one from scratch so here you can just add new widgets or if we click on this icon it's going to bring up templates so it shows you which ones are available for free which ones you have to pay for and it's got search field here so you can go landing page then you want to choose one that might already have a form so what i'm going to do because i know that you you might not want to upgrade to the pro version just yet and that's perfectly fine so what i'm going to do is find one that is free and then work with that for the moment so let's go with let's say this one so click insert and now it's going to do its thing okay great so that's a landing page obviously we would go through and change all the copy change the images but what i really want to focus on here is adding the opt-in form okay so let's get a form in here so what we can do is let's go there we go okay so if you have the pro version you can just drag in a form here which we'll do in a second but if you're not using the pro version where is it it's down here html you can just drag in a html box oops try again okay there we go so now you can paste your code your opt-in form code in here and then the form will display there now because i'm using the uh the pro version what i'm going to do is drag in one of the forms like that so i'm just going to place that here there we go now now that we have a form on the page what we need to do is hook it up to active campaign so for this if we go to active campaign if we go to settings then we go to developer we're going to get the api code so we grab this data here so the url and then the key and if we go back to wordpress if we go to elementor and then integrations if we scroll down to active campaign now we can paste in so now we can go back to elementor select the the opt-in form if we go down here we have some extra options the one that i want you to pay attention to is actions after submit click on that add action now choose where is it active campaign now you can see that it also integrates with get response convertkit mail or light slack discord and drip mailchimp and you can also add in other ones i think it's by going through the web hook but for now we're just going to go with active campaign and that brings up this drop down menu so active campaign click on that now it's pulling in the the credentials and we can choose the list here okay great so api key choose oops default select list i'm going to go with the mcmania master list we can choose our fields here first name name and then last name none phone known organization name none and now we can also add tags here if we want to so here you might want to tag these as leads coming through a particular campaign or specific page that is up to you but there we have the main integration done right now we want to edit the form so we want to get rid of some of the fields make sure that the uh the fields correspond to your active campaign fields as well we want to change that button as well so maybe we say something like uh yes i want access something like that and then we click update it's gonna take a couple of seconds to do that and now if we go preview it or if we have a look at the live version hit refresh just in case uh any updates haven't been added so now this is a very important step that you need to take put in your name put in your email address and then click yes i want access or click care go on your version and now your details will be added to active campaign so you can go and go ahead and double check that it corresponds with the data that you put in and if it doesn't then just go back and make sure that the form fields are synced up okay now we can start working on the copy of this page because as you can see well you know it's not relevant so what i'm going to do is give you a couple of pointers that you can use and you can apply it to any page in any niche so what we can do is just make this layout a little bit more um applicable to our needs so what i'm going to do is is just start removing stuff i'm not going to spend too long on this because really what we want to focus on more than anything is the copy like we said previously good copy trump's bad design so if we focus on the headline first so if we go with maybe like a really simple headline but really if an effective one so how to x y z so you can a b c so that is probably the most basic headline form to use you can use this as a template it really does work well but you might want to test out different versions and and i encourage you to do that so here you want to move these bullet points up above and bullet points so this is oops if we can actually edit it oh it's over here so if we edit the text here in elementor so we go big benefit one and then big benefit two and then down here big benefit three okay so what i want you to do now as you're writing these benefits and the headline as well what i want to do is just focus on the transformation that you offer your lead magnet your free gift will give them so don't focus so much on the um the format so you can say something like free course reveals how to and that's fine because you're telling them what they're getting but don't pay too much focus on that instead you want to focus on the benefits and the transformation that they receive from consuming it so you only have to mention it once so it could be a free book free course free video doesn't matter it's all about the transformation and the benefits as long as you focus on those you're going to get conversions and when it comes to design make sure that it obviously is relevant to your niche so there you can change the background image on this if you want to i encourage you to get rid of all of these kind of images that you don't need and just make the page as simple as possible so don't add things that aren't needed you just want to focus on the copy it's all about the copy here that's what's going to get your conversions okay we can now update that and save that and go back to our list so we've built the landing page we know that works we know it's going to convert people are going to be subscribed to the email list the tag is going to trigger that email sequence it's all good okay now what we need to do is redirect visitors so as soon as they subscribe to your email list we need to send them to the thank you page so you've got a couple of options here so you can send it to a confirmation page so let's say as soon as they enter the details they're now directed to a page that instructs them on what to do next so if you're doing a double opt-in then you want to have that that confirmation page so you tell them to go to their inbox click the confirmation link that they'll receive if you're doing single opt-in then you can send them to maybe a a bridge page or a one-time offer or you can just give them direct access to the freebie so what i'm going to do is create a thank you page now in fact i've already made it i'm going to show you the one that i've got and it is in fact access to a free course that that i'm going to give to subscribers so if we click on the uh form section here if we go down to actions after submit i'm going to click on that add action and here we want to choose redirect and now we have this redirect option there if we click on that we can paste in the link to the thank you page so in wordpress i'm going to add a new page so to do that just like we did previously you can click add new there but i am going to go with this page so if i click on let's see let's click on on this page here online bizmate easy members area this is what i'm going to give away for free as part of this funnel and all we have to do is get the url so permalink if we click view page just grab that url copy link go back to where is it there we go the redirect in elementor paste that there and then click update now on my version i have password protected this page so in order to to get access they have to subscribe let me show you what the page actually looks like because again i built it in elementor so excuse me while i have a drink okay so just wait for that to load and i need to improve the copy on this but this is just an elementor template that i've taken and i've just edited it accordingly so i've just put a few bullet points here this is traditionally called a stick page so usually or previously when we'd sell physical courses that get a bunch of dvds or cds or videos and in that in the package you'd get a letter it's called a stick letter so all all it really does is it reaffirms that they made the right decision and you have to have that in anything that you sell online so you need that stick letter and here's mine so basically i tell them that they made the right decision to subscribe and then i give them the benefits there but if we scroll down here again i need to do a few more things with this we've got just a series of lessons so they're just videos if i open this one up oops sorry i can't search what something is about and i can search my title actors siri going off okay so we've got videos here so if i click on that it's just going to open up a video that i've got hosted on vimeo and again another video there and that's all there but if we go down here again i need to edit the copy here because i'm you know only part way through building this page here i'm going to have some offers at the bottom to other courses that they might be interested in so that's my thank you page yours is going to be a bit different obviously but what you could have is just a straight download link you can have a one-time offer on that page so you can say hey before you get your free gift while you're here you might also want to get this and there you could promote your your own product or an affiliate offer doesn't really matter and that's going to appeal to the people who want to buy right now and that percentage is going to be pretty small but you're really going to make your money through the the follow-up sequence of emails okay so that's the thank you page again when you know we're not spending a lot of time on this stuff we're just using templates wherever we can okay so let's go back to wordpress and now we're going to go ahead and install woocommerce i've already got it installed but i'm going to show you how to get it it's very quick and easy so we click on plugins add new plugin and then we can just search for it here so make sure that keyword is selected type in woo commerce hit enter and there we go you just click install then activate then you're good to go so what we can do now is go down to products add new and again my site's running pretty slow so okay let's add a new product let's call this digital download one for example and then we put in some copy here if we go down to product data we have simple product group product external affiliate product variable product you can leave that as is and then you can choose between virtual product and downloadable you don't have to choose these i'm going to go with let's say downloadable if we set price of regular price so we could set this for 17 bucks sale price we might want to make that seven bucks what i recommend you do if you're doing this this kind of special offer is well what i do is i split test so if i have a special offer running i also have the product on sale at full price because you never know which one is going to convert higher so people who see the sale price well they're actually really experiencing a sale and that is usually followed with a countdown timer and some level of urgency to really make it clear that this is an absolute bargain that they're getting so what i recommend that you do is do something similar just split test different price points and keep the sale price as uh as a form of urgency which we're going to speak about in a few minutes when we get to making the uh the sales page so they add your downloadable files there i'm just going to drag in a small downloadable you can add a pdf you can add a printable doesn't really matter then you've got loads of options to choose from so on the left hand side you can go through all of these if you want to you can set a download limit download expiry loads of really cool stuff i'm not going to bother with any of that because i just want to get you up and running really fast of course you can spend the time to to play around and modify this however you like okay so if we're happy with that we click publish and now it's going to be a product that people can buy now that's pretty quick and easy right um what we're going to do next is hook this product up with elementor so it's again it's very quick and easy but we're going to make it so people can purchase this outside of woocommerce in a way so you don't have to send them through the traditional woocommerce cart process instead we can get them to convert directly from the sales page which is going to get you more conversions okay so if we're happy with that well let's just go have a look at all products you're going to see i've got a couple of demo products here so there we are digital download in stock it looks like it's going to work fine we can go view this let me show you how it would traditionally work but we're going to take a slightly different path so if we click on that that would be the uh the product the add to cart button there if we click on that it's going to take us to um to a confirmation where it says it's been added to the cart then if we click on view cart it should show us all the products there we go it shows all the products that we've got in our shopping cart and there you can see the one that we've just added there and then you can proceed to check out so what i'm going to show you how to do is get this up and running directly from the sales page so what we're going to do is we're going to bypass all this so you get the conversion you get the sale faster i hope that makes sense okay so to do that what we're going to do is where is it pages click add new this is going to be really quick and easy i do want to walk you through a 10-step process to get high converting sales page so let's give this a name let's go sales page keep things nice and simple then edit with elementor and again we're just going to go with more templates so we're going to choose a very basic template by clicking this icon just click that interestingly what i didn't show you previously was blocks so if you click on that you have these sections that you can just import or insert into your pages so you can couple together a unique looking page from these blocks so it could be good if you want to add a things like an opt-in form there or if you want to add a call to action or testimonials whatever you like really it gives you loads of options and many of these are free to use as well so you don't have to upgrade to the pro version if you don't want to okay let's go up let's choose pages i'm just going to go with a very simple page probably about as simple as i can get under the free versions because i want to make sure that you know anyone can can do this so i don't expect you to invest really anything you know beyond uh your email service provider which you know you kind of have to invest in that so i'm going to click insert on that template it's going to import it and then we can edit it okay so let's let's get rid of the video first okay so what we've got a lot of options here really i just want to make this like as simple and as fast for you to to emulate because it is all about the copy all this design stuff is really good but you know we don't really need it so what i'm going to do is just get rid of a whole heap of stuff so we'll need that bit we might need that bit um what we're going to do is actually rearrange things as well so i'm just going to drag this up further you'll see why in a few minutes so let me let me run you through the 10-step process in a second but you're probably wondering where we're going to link to this page from where where do we link to the sales page well that comes from it can come from your thank you page so after you give them the free thing you can say also if you're interested in this i think you'll love this and then link to the the sales page and you you can also link to it from your email sequence and that's really where you're going to generate most of your revenue anyway okay let me show you the 10-step process that we're going to go through to maximize your conversions this is proven to work it's the exact same template that i use on most of my copy so this is it so first of all we make a promise we're going to make a bold claim that they will be able to achieve something if they purchase the product then we call out the problem we identify it we acknowledge it then we go into a story this is to build rapport the story is made up of two parts it's struggle and success so you tell you tell the the reader about the problems that you faced and how you overcame them to achieve success then we have social proof now social proof we can really break this into two sections so so when it comes to proof we we could really add let's say screenshots so that's a form of evidence maybe and testimonials if i can spell that right then we have the offer so we've shown that it works we've proved that it's real then we give them the offer we tell them what it is and that is made up of benefits again we have we can break it into two parts so we have features and benefits i'll explain more about that as we get into it and then we have bonuses so here we we give them another reason to buy so if the core offer isn't enough enough then we stack these bonuses now it depends on your niche some niches don't respond well to it some niches do you do have to test it out for yourself and then step seven is to inject some urgency into the situation this is where we we threaten to remove the offer or change the offer in some way if if you do not have your own sales page and you're just doing affiliate marketing use this page as a bridge page so go through the exact same process that we're doing here but when it comes to the call to action which we'll get to in a second link out to the sales page but you do need to have some urgency no matter what you're doing so if you're promoting affiliate offers threaten to take away some bonuses if they don't act fast so only people who purchase today right now or in the next few days get access to some exclusive bonuses um if it is your sales page then you can take away discounts you can take away a limited place or remove places so there's limited places available you can have limited stock you can remove the offer you can just end the complete offer or you can remove bonuses too so that's some ways to inject urgency into the situation into the sales page and and then i know it's a lot to take in but remember you can rewatch this as many times as you need to then we have when we have the urgency in place we move on to the call to action so this is where you would usually have the price or if you're running an affiliate offer and you're using this as a bridge page they would link to uh to the offer there but at this point you would tell them what to do so you tell them you know exactly what they need to do to obtain the uh the product and then if they haven't purchased at this stage you go into a what if statement so this is where you tell them what will happen if they don't buy which is absolutely nothing nothing's going to happen and that's the problem for them so you you know you focus on the pain points again so if they still haven't purchased it means that they have hesitations they have objections and they have doubts and that's where you use a frequently asked questions section to handle those so you raise the objections and you handle them and uh then if you have each of these 10 steps working in conjunction with each other and it all flows and i'll show you how to do that in a in a couple of minutes then you will have a high conversion sales page or a high converting bridge page okay so let's get down into it so i can give you some actual examples so the first thing the promise step one this is going to be your headline now with your headlines you want to get specific so previously you saw on the squeeze page on the landing page we used a good template now what we're going to do is expand on that template we're going to take it a step further so we went something like how to x so you can why it was something like that so what we're going to do is first of all we're going to say what it is we're selling so it could be a video course it could be um [Music] it could be an e-book but at this stage if we say something like ebook shows how to ex so you can why that's quite dry so what we need to do is is change ebook or video or whatever it might be into a formula a method a system so we say something like system or method shows we could go reveals reveals how to so you can how to x so you can why so if we go sorry i don't know if you can hear my phone going it's going a bit crazy okay i've turned the volume down so hopefully you shouldn't hear those uh interruptions okay so method reveals how to x so you can why now we want to get really specific so how to make maybe get so let's say let's say i'm promoting one of my traffic offers so method reveals how to get well i don't want to use this as an opportunity to promote any of my products so what i'm going to do instead is let's say this is for a uh a fish catching gizmo uh it's an example that kern tends to use a lot and i really like it so method reveals how to get how to catch oops five million fish so you can eat forever right or whatever it might be so there's a clear benefit here now we can take this further so let's actually get rid of um this so okay method reveals how to catch five million fish so you can eat forever now what we want to do is get specific so here we have catch 5 million fish 5 million fish there that's a very specific figure obviously only use true figures you know that already but we want to we want to make it more tangible so we want to give it a time frame as well so here we have a very specific end result and now we want to put it into real world terms so let's say method reveals how to catch five million fish in five days so you can eat forever okay these are big benefits but then we want to we want to acknowledge objections so these are things that are going to prevent people from purchasing so we want to remove those so what you need to do is think about the objections and the things that prevent your customers from making a purchase and then you call them out straight away in the headline so we could say how to catch five million fish in five days so you can eat forever without spending a week at sea or without whatever it is fishermen uh find difficult without i should have probably picked a niche that i have some experience with let's go from weight loss maybe so i've wrote and i've written i've written um a fair bit of uh weight loss copy so let's go with that so let's use that as another example so method reveals how to say lose five stone in six months without here's the objection without a crazy diet or expensive gym member ship so you can see what we're doing here so lose five stone in six months that's a very specific claim that's a big promise to make without a crazy diet or expensive gym membership here we're removing the um the objections and the obstacles so that is a pretty strong headline we can proven it and prove it again by maybe saying secret method reveals how to lose five stone in six months without a crazy day or expensive gym membership so that is a promise that we're making we can add a sub headline here if we want to if we want to expand on that but we don't have to i just want to keep things really simple and basic for you to get up and running fast okay so next we need to add in a problem section so let's go back to um to this bit let's add in and a new a new text thingy where is it text editor let's drag that in now what i recommend you also do here is maybe uh duplicate it because you want one to be almost like another heading so here we could ask a question maybe have you oops let's get rid of caps have you ever felt like this or does this sound familiar to you and then we want to make that quite big heading okay does this sound familiar to you and now we go into the uh the problem set uh section of the uh the copy so here we would say something like you've tried to x y z z actually let's make it a bit cleaner so you've tried to you've tried to get an end result but y has always stopped you and then you would do this maybe three times you've already tried x and felt confused by why so here all you're really doing is asking questions that identify their problem and focusing on the pain points here when you acknowledge the pain that they're feeling then you build rapport really quickly so they understand that you understand them and therefore you're probably the best person to help them and then you need a transition from identifying the problems and the pain into the story so we could transition in a way let's say what if i told you it doesn't have to be that way and now we're going to transition into the story section so let's duplicate this headline again duplicate let's move it down beneath here and we can say something like let's say you want to x but nothing seems to work okay and now let's duplicate this texty bit move it down here oops move that above okay okay so this section is going to be for your story so the story is going to be split into struggle and then the success and what we need to do here is create a story arc i'll show you a really simple formula that you you can use so what we're doing here is following on from this headline so you want to succeed at something or achieve something but nothing seems to work now we want to build rapport or build on the rapport that we've already established so i know what that feels like or you want to say i've been there too let me tell you uh oops a true story about how i oops i really can't write today finally got result okay so now we're going to the struggle so i like to say things like one i think back to and i usually put in a year here so i'll leave that blank when i think back to a time my life wasn't always and then we put in end result here so it was always great in fact i want to put in something negative here so in in fact i was lazy or i was a loser or i couldn't achieve anything i didn't have any self-belief that kind of thing and then you want to go into all the things you tried so no matter what i tried oops tried nothing seemed to work i tried x but here you want to focus on the failure but it failed i think it's at this stage you want to ask carry on to ask questions so i'll say something like i don't know about you but i even tried x and you want to put in a negative result here and that only made the situation worse because put in your negative result there and then we could say i even felt like giving up it made oops made me feel like negative so it made me feel putting your negative emotions there um probably want to stack the negative stack the pain yeah really stop the pain points here and then we transition to into success so really focusing on the pain and the emotion here how do we transition into success we need a turning point so we say but that all changed when i and then you did something or you met someone something happened to give you a bit of hope so now we work on getting ourselves out of that bad situation so but that all changed when i met ex person this person or this thing this product showed me how to x so get a good end result and we want to remove some objections here so without y and before i knew it i was able to positive result i want to show you how okay so what we've got so far is step one the big promise step two the problem and listen you can go deep into this i'm just running through the process as fast as i can for you and then step three we have the story which is broken down into two parts your struggle then your success and now we need to add in some proof so here you can either add some screenshots or video or some evidence that you that your claim works that the thing actually works so here in the story what you're doing is is you're telling them about the results about the desirable results and then you're going to follow on with some proof so that's the sequence and that's why it works so well because you're telling them the story you're bringing them in you're entertaining them and they're putting themselves in your they're they're putting themselves in your situation where you used to be so when people consume stories in this way that's what they're doing they're living the story through your words they're imagining what it's like to be in your situation they're imagining the results that you're promising and then you follow that up with proof so it becomes a lot more believable and of course you're only selling and promoting stuff that actually happens and when you when you do it properly then your conversions increase because people can tell that it's legit it's for real and then you double up on the proof you provide testimonials this is social proof so here you have previous customers case study results something to say that this is legit other people just like you have also experienced the results that i have i have myself achieved or the results that i'm promising so once you have the proof figured out now you you move into let's let's add this in here so if we go down here and add in another section this is going to be the offer so i'm just going to put that in here let's bring in a um a headline there let's bring in oops don't want that bit let's bring in another texty bit if i can get back to the thingy oops oh was it that big i'm getting lost let's just take the easy road and duplicate this and uh drag that down to this bit okay so here we have a headline which okay granted it looks a little bit different but that's okay because it's going to stand out so we say something like introducing the and then you put the product name here and i like to center mine because people just gonna scan read and if you can make sure that these headlines communicate almost like bullet points to people that scan reading and you can add as as many of these subheadings as you want okay so the offer stage this is where you list the features and the benefits now i love i love doing this uh part of the sales copy because we appeal to both sides of the brain so we appeal to the logical brain and the emotional brain so we use features so let's put in bullet points here so feature could be what something is so it could be let's say a diet diet plan what's a diet plan really mean so what i like to do is say takes away all the confusion of knowing what to eat we can drill into this even further if we want to so it saves you time and hassle or and all the guesswork of knowing what to have for breakfast lunch and tea since i'm in the uk okay so diet plan well that's just a feature and then the benefit is because it takes away all the confusion of knowing what to eat it saves time and hassle and it removes all the guesswork of knowing what to have for breakfast lunch and tea so you're really spelling out the benefits the feature is good that's what what they're gonna say to people so they'll say i've just bought this awesome product i've bought it because it's got diet plans in it or it's got exercise workouts that you can't get anywhere else but what they're really buying it for is because of this the benefit so the diet plan that's what this they're telling people that's what they want people to to know why that's the logic but this is the real emotion so we could speak about this all day but i'm not going to because i think i've made the point here if i haven't tell me in the comments and i will do my best to uh to explain it in a in a different way okay so there we have the offer of what you're selling add as many bullet points as you possibly can and now we need to move on to the next step which is step six here we have bonuses so we would say um exclusive bonuses and again we repeat this so we add in let's say let's say one of the bonuses is a supplement guide so so that's the feature it's a bonus but the benefit of that of the supplement guide is so you know what actually we've used that really haven't we so let's say um boost your immune system push your immune system and lower your risk of whatever is relevant to your niche and you would go through the same process for all of the additional benefits that you provide okay so now what we need to do is add in some urgency so let's just duplicate this headline drag it down here and we say something like but hurry and then duplicate this piece of text as well where we are duplicate drag it down okay okay say something like time is running out on this special offer okay let's just uh let me check something because i believe that elementor has a countdown timer so this is in the pro version i believe so you don't have to use it but if you do upgrade to the pro you're going to get a really handy countdown timer then you set the the the time on that and then you can set a redirect on it as well not going to focus too much on that so let me just delete that i just want to show you option show you your options so when we get to the urgency stage time is running out on the special offer if we're not using a countdown timer we could say something like when x number of places are taken the price will increase or the price will double or triple is entirely up to you okay so that's the urgency section taken care of and next we have to put in a call to action so on this template we have three different pricing options this is a pricing table now what i'm going to do is just delete this button for a second we're only going to focus on the middle one what we're going to do is drag in a woocommerce button so if we go down here where is it at we have this woocommerce section down here if we go to custom add to cat just drag that over here drop that in and now if we go to this section product all if we click on that remember the name of the product that we created digital something digital download one check that we can add quantity if we want to hide it then we have a few options there we can change the the way the button looks listen when it comes to button colors i know there's a lot of debate about what works and what doesn't really you want contrast so as long as it sticks out against the rest of the page you're going to be okay don't listen to people who say you have to go with red or you have to go with yellow colors are not that important it's all about the contrast i know that that can be controversial for some people if you have any doubt just research it yourself i'm right it's very rare i say that i am right but in this instance it's all about the contrast so now that that is linked up to the uh the woocommerce product if someone clicks that it's just going to straight add straight to cart take him to the checkout good stuff okay so that's the call to action almost complete one thing that we we do need to add let's duplicate this what i like to do is is add a little piece of content underneath the uh the call to action and i tell them what's going to happen so when you add to cart you'll be taken to a secure page and asked for your details now what i like to do so that's how i used to do it but now i just simplify in a few words so i say is it 556. uh i think it's i think it's 556 bit military grade and encryption because that is what my products use it is the highest standard of encryption it's the most secure platform of the most secure payment process on the planet so 256 military grade encryption is you know you can't beat it so i just make that really clear that you know the the process is safe the transaction is okay the credit card details are going to be protected it's fine okay then what i like to do is add another piece of copy underneath the call to action and this this is the what if section so i say something like ask yourself what if you don't buy this or take action what will happen the answer is nothing's going to happen so you say you're still going to s struggle with and you won't end result so you're still going to struggle with the problem and you won't be able to achieve the results that you want just to remind them of why they're here in the first place and then i focus on the pain so what i do is take them from where they are right now if they don't fix the problem and i take them a year down the line so i ask them to imagine imagine what could happen in a year's time you could and then you want to make it really bad so you know if they don't fix this problem what's the long term results of not fixing the problem you could or and then you stack on the pain you stuck on the fear or a worse situation or even and then this is the absolute worst situation worst case scenario make sure it's true obviously you know if they don't take action this is what's at stake you know so you move a year five years ten years down the road and you you explain very very clearly that this is a problem that needs to be fixed they say but you have a choice you can walk you can walk away and let the cards fall where they may or where they land or you could take action right now and fix it fix whatever the problem is for once and for all okay so i think that's a very strong what if section and then you add in the final piece which is the frequently asked sections and here this is where you handle the objections so maybe they're worried if it's not right for them or what if it doesn't work what if they get stuck what if they need help so here you would address all those points and then handle the objections and then the sales page is done okay and now when we have all these pieces working together you have a very effective very high converting sales funnel built in wordpress but that's just the beginning because to really make this work you're going to need traffic because as you probably know traffic equals money without traffic you don't make any sales so for that reason i want to
