foreign [Music] hello so I just got back from my trip to Kuala Lumpur and I'm sure a lot of you saw the Vlog that I posted last week as well if you haven't seen link for that is in the description box below the most common question I got asked on that Vlog was how much money did you spend for this trip and how can you plan a trip to Malaysia as well so in today's video I'm going to give you a complete breakdown of the total money that we spent in Kuala Lumpur and the ideal budget that you would need to plan a week-long trip to the beautiful country of Malaysia so if you're excited stick around and quick little secret this whole trip can happen under 50 000 rupees let's start so let's start with the first thing you need to plan whenever you're taking an international vacation which is the visa visa for Malaysia is actually very easy to get they have an e-visa process for Indians so that's super convenient you can do it yourself or you could go through an agent we went through an agent it's called Akbar travels I have the link for them in the description box below you have to pay 3500 rupees per person to get this visa and it will come to you in about a week's time you could also apply for the fast track Visa but I don't recommend it because anyway one week is not that long and uh in terms of the documents you need Super basic things you just need your return flight tickets hotel bookings vaccination certificate and yeah that's pretty much it and if there's anything else that I missed out on I'll add the list of all the documents in the description also [Music] next up flight tickets now if you want to travel from India to Malaysia the most obvious City where you would land is Kuala Lumpur because it's the capital city so uh from India to Kuala Lumpur the good thing is we have direct flights from almost all Metro cities and you will find International carriers as well as Indian carriers so that's always helpful to plan a budget trip now on an average uh the flight fare if you book well in advance which is let's say like a month in advance you would find a round trip ticket for one person for 16 000 rupees which is very cool because that's almost as inexpensive as taking a domestic trip in India we planned our trip very very last minute so we had to spend a little extra we ended up paying I think 38 to 40 000 rupees for two people round trip so um that was slightly on the higher side but if you plan well in advance you'll be able to manage uh very cheap flights especially if you look for AirAsia or Indigo because they have very regular service from cities like Chennai Mumbai Bangalore all of these places next let's talk about some basic things you will need once you reach Kuala Lumpur the first thing is a SIM card and the next is the currency SIM card you can actually just activate International roaming on your Indian card or you could get a SIM card from Kuala Lumpur itself you would typically find a one week long data pack unlimited data packs and stuff for about 400 500 Indian rupees so that's great and the Malaysian currency is called Malaysian Ringgit it is packed at 17 Indian rupees for one Malaysian Ringgit so our currency is definitely weaker but the prices are pretty much comparable you can get Malaysian Ringgit easily in Malaysia it's not so easy to find in India so I would recommend either using a Forex card for all of your transactions or you could carry US dollars from India and get it converted at uh any place in Kuala Lumpur don't get it done at the airport because it's always more expensive there you could get your money exchanged at any of the local currency exchange centers all throughout the city foreign accommodation now you obviously have to get it done before you even reach Kuala Lumpur because it's a requirement for the Visa at the Immigration Center uh they would not ask for anything except your return flight tickets and your hotel accommodation so you need to have print copy hard copy of everything ready with you once you reach the Immigration Center so for hotels Kuala Lumpur has a budget stay options throughout the city what partition I chose to do was to stay at the city center so there's an area called KLCC which is sort of like the main area like downtown Kuala Lumpur which has all the tourist attractions and everything that you'd want to do within the two to three kilometer range so that was very convenient we booked the Ibis hotel for a week and that costed US 31 000 rupees for the whole week so if you break it down per person it wasn't that much but you will find even cheaper options in Kuala Lumpur and the best thing is most of these hotel accommodations are actually very very well maintained the quality is great just that the price is way cheaper than what you would find even in India so if you keep up budget of 2000 rupees per person per day that's more than enough to get a high quality accommodation very comfortable accommodation in the main area of Kuala Lumpur and if you're looking for even cheaper options there are ample hostels available throughout the city you would get a hostel bed for anywhere between 300 to 500 rupees per night and this would include breakfast as well so that's great now let's talk about my favorite part of traveling to Southeast Asia which is the food Kuala Lumpur has amazing food to offer across all ranges so you will find very very budget friendly options and you will find high-end options both coexisting peacefully in the same city so if you'd like to try the local Cuisine of Kuala Lumpur or Malaysia in general then you would find some amazing budget options with respect to food budget you could keep 300 rupees per person per meal for your entire stay in Kuala Lumpur and that should be more than enough it would absolutely suffice for some amazing food that you can try from the streets as well as from some of the most popular restaurants that we have there so in total you could keep a budget of anywhere between five to six thousand rupees for the whole one week trip per person for food for us because we are big time Foodies and our major goal with travel is to try food we did end up spending a little extra but all of this extra spending came from just one restaurant that we visited which is called Nobu so a total food spend for our stay in Kuala Lumpur was 32 000 for two people but remember the 12 000 of this was just one restaurant which is Nobu and if you want a full in-depth guide of what to eat in Kuala Lumpur when you're visiting there with respect to Indian food Chinese food Malay food everything then you must check out my blog because I've documented that in detail now if you plan to travel to a beautiful city like Kuala Lumpur you may want to do a lot of sightseeing the good thing is that most of Kuala Lumpur has three sites so even if you want to see the Patrona Stars there's a free park which has amazing views for it you could go to uh their botanical gardens jungles and a lot of these tourist attractions are absolutely free to enter so that's great there are a couple of places though where you may want to buy the ticket so if you want to go to the top of the Patronus Towers which are the tallest Twin Towers in the world in KL then you may have to pay some money for that just to go to the observation deck or if you want to go to Genting Highland which is an hour outside of the city it's sort of like an amusement park Casino setup that they've created it's absolutely beautiful you must go there so for that again you'll have to spend some extra money so in total I would say keep a budget of 5000 rupees for your sightseeing tickets per person that should be more than enough it would suffice for everything you may want to do there but if you don't want to go to the top of the towers and all of that then you may end up saving a lot of money there but I didn't go to the top because it was looking amazing anyway and the hotel we were staying had a rooftop pool and had the amazing views of the Patronus Towers in the whole city skyline so we didn't feel the need to spend extra money just to go to the top of that Tower next place where you may end up spending some money is your transportation within the city now the good thing about Malaysia in general is that their public transport system is absolutely amazing so you will find Metro you will find buses and everything is very well connected and it's almost as if the whole city can be reached through just their Metro system which is great but on top of that there is grab app which you can use if you want to take cabs specifically to go to certain destinations even if you want to go outside of the city for day trips to places like Genting Highland or Malacca then you have public buses that go there and these tickets are very inexpensive as well so transportation is not going to be a very big spend for you for Pareto Chennai in total we ended up spending 8 000 rupees for all of our transport there and we actually ended up taking cabs to most of the places because um because we just wanted to have that convenience a little bit but if you take metros you could easily manage your transport budget within 2000 rupees per person and lastly for any international trip it's usually a good idea to keep some buffer money as well for miscellaneous expenses and I we do not enjoy shopping so whenever we travel to International destination shopping is not on our list but you may enjoy shopping in Kuala Lumpur a lot so you should keep aside some money for that Kuala Lumpur has amazing shopping destinations there's a lot of Street shopping places as well as some amazing Brands where you could shop uh so you could keep some money for that on the side so miscellaneous budget of about five to six thousand rupees per person is great and I mean that should suffice for everything but it would obviously depend on how much you want to show up and where you want to shop and all of that for pradush and I our miscellaneous expenditure for the whole trip was around 10 000 rupees this mainly included grocery shopping that we did at the Japanese store because we wanted to get some Japanese ingredients to cook at home but uh yeah you could basically use this money for anything at all so with all this in mind the total spend that parados and I did for this trip seven day trip to Kuala Lumpur was 1 lakh 51 000 rupees for both of us put together for everything which is great I mean it wasn't a amazing budget trip for us to take and we did not cut back on anything we were able to take cabs we were able to stay in a beautiful hotel with an amazing view we were able to eat at some of the best restaurants and it was great so one lakh 50 000 is a very very comfortable trip to Kuala Lumpur but if you want to do a budget trip then the projected expenses that I've given you would come up to a little less than 50 000 rupees some 49 000 something per person so it's actually possible to take a very nice decent trip to Kuala Lumpur with this kind of a budget as well before I wrap up this video I want to talk a little bit about just traveling to Malaysia in general the important thing to know is that I only traveled to Kuala Lumpur and we did one day trip outside of Kuala Lumpur to Genting Thailand and that's it but there is so much more to explore in that country so if you want you could go to Langkawi which is sort of like the island part of Kuala Lumpur has amazing beaches you may consider going to Malacca which is another day trip from from Kuala Lumpur and that is a more European Vibe town that they have there so there's a lot to do I would say that if you are planning to go to Malaysia because it's such a nice budget destination you may consider exploring outside of Kuala Lumpur as well we didn't do it because we didn't have the time for it but it's definitely on our bucket list we may do that in the future so yeah with that I wrap this video I hope you found this helpful do let me know if you have any questions with respect to planning your trip to Kuala Lumpur and I'll see you next time bye bye [Music]
