[Music] thank you [Music]   what's going on everybody this is Island Hopper  TV coming to you from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia let's   do it that's right everybody we're coming to you  from KL which means Kuala Lumpur we're going to   show you the top things to do and there will be  time stamps Below in the description so you can   go around from location to location throughout the  video alright so as you can see we're in front of   the Patronus Towers here we're going to try and  go up to the top walking around the bottom of the   Petronas Towers is free but if you want to go  up to the top like we're going to it is 22 US   dollars or around 95 Malaysian Ringgits that's  the currency they use here and here we are at   the bridge this is called the Skywalk the sky  bridge is the highest two-story bridge in the   world connecting the two Twin Towers and they stop  here at the sky Bridge with every ticket which is   actually level 41 and 42. so after you stop here  then you get back in the elevator and you head all   the way up to the top [Music] foreign so you go  from Level 42 all the way up to level 86 and here   you are at the top of the Petronas Towers which  at one point in time were the tallest Towers in   the world until Burj Khalifa came along nowadays  these towers are the third largest in Kuala Lumpur   because the Merdeka 118 building is now going to  be the tallest standing at 2227 feet that's 118   floors to be completed here in 2023 and another  thing to do nearby the Petronas Towers is the KLCC   Fountain which is basically a smaller version  of what you would see at Burj Khalifa in Dubai   every evening around 7 PM they do a KLCC fountain  show and then they do every half hour until 10 pm   and this park that we're walking around here is  called KLCC right next to the Patronus Towers   so the three things to do here KLCC Park Fountain  and the Petronas Towers that's three things to do   while you're here in case you're wondering what  KLCC means it's Kuala Lumpur City Center so the   park itself sits on 50 acres it has a garden and  a lake with a wide variety of Flora and Fauna you   can just walk around hang out the Park is open  from 7 A.M to 10 p.m and admission is free so   that's a good thing there's also a children's  playground a public swimming pool and a wading   pool for children and as we continue to show you  around Kuala Lumpur here I want to let you guys   know that we did launch a travel Master Class if  you sign up as a channel member you get access to   that become an island Hopper and that's what comes  with it there is over 10 courses talking about   what you can do to start traveling internationally  all the things that you should consider   and here we are at pedaling Street Market this  is Chinatown let's go look and here we are at   Chinatown now something you may not know is Kuala  Lumpur is actually a newer city it was founded in   1857 by 87 Chinese tin miners it could be said  that the founders of Kuala Lumpur were mostly   Chinese but here in Chinatown you will find the  largest Hindu temple in Kuala Lumpur as well as   walk around pedaling Street Market they're going  to have food stalls as well as goods and clothing   so if you want to do some shopping for electronics  and other souvenirs head down here to Chinatown   it's definitely a must-see while here try the  hainese chicken rice a must try while in Chinatown   right guys we have made it to Batu Caves out  here in Batu yeah this impressive cave system was   originally established by Chinese farmers who were  actually extracting the bat guano from out of here   for fertilizing vegetable patches in the 1860s but  then a Hindu man discovered this place and said   it was a sacred area so they made a temple here  and that's why you see this now Hindu temple with   this big statue and colorful stairs that you walk  up to where the actual cave is now while you're   walking up you're going to see a lot of monkeys  the monkeys may try to steal your water bottle or   even take your backpack from you your camera  they are known to be a bit of uh interesting   characters try not to touch them or let them touch  you I should say but yeah once you get to the top   you're inside the cave and you will see just how  impressive it is up here in these Limestone caves   one thing I will say is going up those stairs  can be a bit intense so make sure you're ready   for that because in Kuala Lumpur it can get very  hot pretty much year round one of the reasons why   this Hindu temple is here is because Malaysia has  many Indian descendants who've actually settled   here and as we continue walking around here at  the caves villa which is right next door to the   actual caves Temple up top you can see very  nice place but I want to continue to give you   some insight into the demographics of Kuala Lumpur  so there is a large population of Chinese a large   population of Indians but the largest population  is actually going to be the native melee people   and the native melee people are Islamic and the  official religion of Malaysia is Islam but you   can still see other religions are still respected  here as you can see with this Hindu temple here   at the Batu Caves now it is very colorful and they  have allowed them to paint the inside of the caves good old soup now let's talk about the food  here so in Chinatown you're going to have a   wide variety of Chinese cuisine including dim sum  and roasted Meats so do try that also Indian food   is very popular here they're going to have rice  Biryani tandoori chicken naan which is like a   flour kind of bread and then you have plenty  of Malaysian street food that's the legendary   food that you're gonna get here like Penang Curry  you're also going to get Nasi Lemak saute charcoee   tiao laksa so when you get to the airport they're  going to say hey make sure you try some laksa   or try some saute and in case you're wondering  anytime you see Nasi that basically means rice   so if it's Nasi Goring that means fried rice now  they also have a fusion of food here so they've   got this blended food of international cuisine  everything from lamok Burgers ramen burgers durian   Pizza which is like a fruit actually when you  go into hotels they'll say don't bring any dirt   durian Inside the Hotel because what happens  is when it ferments and rots it smells Beyond   horrible but it actually tastes like a yogurt  when you're eating it and it's fresh foreign Cuisine they have here obviously they have  octopus they have some shellfish but the big   thing that stuck out to me was frog so if you've  ever wanted to eat bullfrog and you're curious   what it tastes like I'm sure they're gonna  say it tastes like chicken because everything   always seems to taste like chicken right but  yeah that's bullfrog right there on a stick   next up we're gonna head to the High Country  this is the Genting Highlands up here they have   Resorts World it's basically way up in the Rain  Forest it's a lot cooler up here actually so it   could be boiling hot down in Kuala Lumpur but once  you get up to Genting you're gonna be like whoa I   need a jacket because you're so high up there the  one thing I will say is it is a bit of a concrete   jungle I wish it was a little bit more Blended in  with the atmosphere because the rainforest up here   is so amazing but they basically took the top of  the mountain and they just paved it and turned it   into a bunch of casinos and resorts and shopping  malls but still it's really cool to be up here   and resource world is still the world's largest  hotel so that's an interesting accomplishment that   they've achieved but you can see it's a really  modern area up here the elevation by the way is   6 200 feet so that's above a mile high the drive  to get up here by private car takes about an hour   to an hour and a half depending on traffic because  they can get a bottleneck of traffic that can slow   everything down one accident and the next thing  you know it's to take two hours to get to and   from now the activities that you're going to have  up here aside from going to casinos and gambling   are going to be going to the indoor theme park  like skytropolis which we'll show you around here   they've got rides most of them are for kids but  there's also like an arcade it's a fun place it's   an indoor theme park it's fun and it lights up  it's something to do while you're up here also if   you guys are enjoying this video so far consider  liking the video and subscribing to the Channel I   want to say thank you to all of our subscribers  who keep up with us and have watched our videos   from across Asia we just made a full things to  do about Hong Kong we've also made a things to do   about Tokyo Singapore Bangkok we will put links  to those in the description below if you want   to watch those as well all right now let's get  back to showing you around the Genting Highlands   they also do have a cable car by the way if you  wanted to ride that and really get a look at the   rainforest now we're headed over to the next theme  park all right so we've made it to Resorts World   theme park right here you can see it's outdoors  they also have the indoor one which we showed you   previously so here we are at Sky worlds up here in  Genting it is the Outdoor theme park that opened   here in 2016 after they tore down the old one  and here they have 26 Acres with 25 different   thrill rides so if you're into getting some action  check out Planet of the Apes or Alien vs Predator   Titanic Sons of Anarchy lots of different rides  including Ice Age now let's head back down the   mountain to Kuala Lumpur this time we're going to  talk about riding the Metro it is called the rapid   Rail and it's one of the best ways to get around  Kuala Lumpur so if you're here and you're looking   for a cheap efficient way to get around definitely  ride the monorail system around kale Kuala Lumpur   is considered a walkable City so don't worry  about that but definitely when you need to go   long range but definitely it helps getting on  that light rail there the monorail above ground   it doesn't go underground at all in case you're  wondering there's also a train that can take you   to and from the airport so it's very efficient but  one thing I will say there also is grab here and   right behind me we have the stream Mama Han Indian  Hindu temple and I definitely apologize about my   pronunciation it's not my first language but you  can see here it was under construction while we're   here this is actually just next to Chinatown so  we didn't quite get the great shots of this place   but now that it's probably ready to open back up  probably heading here and checking it out would   be something to do at least to take pictures and  see what's going on with this beautiful Temple now   that it's been remodeled and gotten a facelift  it is actually the oldest Hindu temple here in   Kuala Lumpur founded in 1873 so it is a historical  landmark the area Here is known as Jalan bondar   formerly High Street now we're going to talk about  the Mercado 118 building this is actually the   second tallest building in the world it just now  opened it stands over 2300 feet above sea levels   and here we are at merdeka Square this is actually  where they've raised the first Malaysian flag   Merdeka Square which basically translates to  the Independent Square like I said this is   where they raised the first Malaysian flag in the  1950s they still use this area for Independence   Day Celebrations and parades so really what  you're looking at here is the founding area   for the nation of Malaysia which actually just  turned 50 years old in 2022 and here is a look   at a really nice water feature right here in  Mercado Square this is the Victoria Fountain   now from the Victoria Fountain and merdeka square what we're going to do now is we're   going to actually head to the heart and soul  of the downtown nightlife and City Center area   as you can see by all the lights the Armani and  Rolex stores Dior this is where you want to be   all right we've made it to a popular area called  bukit bintang yeah so if you're looking for   nightlife this is where you want to be it's got  upscale shopping malls trendy restaurants cafes   vibrant nightlife very modern parts of Kuala  Lumpur there's also a lot 10 shopping center   Star Hill Gallery The Pavilion at Kuala Lumpur  add all of those to your list to at least check   out while you're here and you can easily  arrive here by taking the monorail so the   rail system connects to here probably get off  at the Pavilion and you can see just how busy   it gets on the streets here lots of foot traffic  everyone's going with the flow so there's no real   complaints about the vibe around here but there  are a lot of people walking around and enjoying   the beautiful weather the Kuala Lumpur offers  pretty much year round there is a little bit of   a rainy season though now they do have two rainy  Seasons October through January there is monsoons   and then again in March to April and here we are  at Jalan Allure this is actually a Art Street so   Allure and Jalan Alor are a bit different Allure  Street has all the art so if you're looking for   some of that unique Kuala Lumpur City Art you  just go down Alor street but once you get to   Jalan Alor it then becomes the bustling food  street that you're looking for but this right   here that you're looking at is called Alor that's where they have all of the street art and this is Jalan Alor street  right here you can see they've got   food stalls on both sides great place  to come at night if you like to eat foreign now another thing to do while here in  Kuala Lumpur is check out the malls this one's   Surya KLCC right below the Patronus Towers but  there are so many different big malls across Kuala   Lumpur and getting out of that humid temperature  especially during the monsoon season but really   year round it's hot here so getting indoors to  one of these big beautiful malls where they have   food courts and nice shopping air conditioning  really a great retreat for people who are visiting   and Kuala Lumpur is most certainly a very modern  city as you can see by the insides of their malls and here we are at the Saloma link Bridge  you can see it's very colorful and it is   a pedestrian bridge bicyclist bridge going  right across the clang River here in KL but   people come here to take pictures it is a 69  meter or 226 foot long bridge it is fairly new   so if you haven't been to Kuala Lumpur for  a while this is an addition open in 2020.   in this area you're looking at Here is known as  Little India also has a name called Brickfield   so it's a colorful area you can see lots  of shopping going on down here they have   pancakes Banana Leaf curries and if you wanted  to get here by monorail or tram get off at the   KL Central Station and this is where you'll  find this really cool little area called the   brickfields and the reason it is called The  Brick Fields is because this was a gigantic   clay field that was used to produce the materials  to build the early establishment of Kuala Lumpur   one thing you can do when you get here is go to  these flea markets or these various different   markets across town you can get good deals on  shoes they are a little bit off brand though   even though they say their brand name but hey if  you need a 50 pair of shoes that's going to last   you for six months go to one of these flea markets  across the city where you can get cheap jewelry   cheap sunglasses shirts clothing whatever you need  just some general facts for you about Kuala Lumpur   there is a metro population of 7.5 million it  is one of Asia's fastest growing cities if you   just talk about the city of Kuala Lumpur it's 1.8  million but the whole metro area really is booming   so expect a lot of growth over the next few years  also one of the most popular tourist destinations   in the world anyways guys thanks for watching this  episode of Island Hopper TV from Kuala Lumpur you   can watch Singapore and Bangkok next just by  clicking those links also thank you to all of   the subscribers and
