these are fun though they are in and uh first of all i'm i'm still learning but you know i bought new microphone cables and a new card for this interview because i was happy because are these the new ones these are the new ones oh okay because people were requesting this really yeah what are you forgetting yeah there's still a little bit in there i mean you don't want too much in there right oh i don't put any in mine i don't know what it is but it's like right when you turn 40. yeah flying shirts i know it's like all right that's how that happened that's a good one man look at that aloha [ __ ] [Music] see if your heads sound as loud as mine no matter whey ladder really we make all those big life moves together i think that's what makes i mean you got it it helps it helps you know holding your buddy's hand we got this it does remember when you bought your house you remember when we looked at it i don't i know you don't because i actually had to drag you out of bed super drunk we walked in oh this is the house yes like yeah and i was like oh man i do not remember that at all he goes are you [ __ ] kidding me yeah i was like no i was so [ __ ] drunk that day was a blur well that's like that's one of those things that i try i struggle with from time to time you know it's just like the corniness of the nickname yeah the cheesiness of like i am snake they're like really your name is snake i'm like well yeah all right well it kind of works like in my mind all right you got to tell people how you got that nickname well dave but it suits you so well he was right you're a tall lanky dude super sketchy you have an appearance of like the 80s bad guy at times big dave kind of he kind of came through on that one yeah it is actually i think it's benefited me in more than one way that ain't a bad looking pizza sir pump some iron too right here [Music] you gotta hurt yourself i'm good i like sitting on your bike and being like man i should build a long bike but then i see like a picture of myself on a long bike they're fun i mean long bikes i [ __ ] i did not like long nights um and i mean they s i can't see you on anything else i know i i i thought they looked so stupid and i'm not saying they don't still but they're they're pretty silly make them look pretty cool i mean they're pretty sipping but they're silly looking bikes what changed it for me was i sat on devil yeah and i put my feet up and i was just like lean back on the seat and i was like holy [ __ ] i felt like this bike was made for me was that circus that [ __ ] looked like hard pack it wasn't they are not kidding it is a giant [ __ ] rock aloha how embarrassing would you be if you got bit by a snake [Music] it all started with some mushrooms ceremony we never even touched on the [ __ ] aliens oh my god we never even talked about that because we saw the goddamn the skylink [ __ ] that [ __ ] with me man we never even talked about that all night that [ __ ] me all night i got him i could see him dude this is [ __ ] real right now [Music] okay if you can't tell there is this whole stripe is moving through the sky there's zero sound it's going all the way across the horizon that was the second one that was the second one too we sat there and watched the first one go overhead like we should go warn people we're being invaded like what the [ __ ] do we do [Music] all the way across the horizon there they go i yeah it felt so helpless man [Music] that was the craziest thing i have ever seen they're gone that was [ __ ] nuts the only logical explanation i could think of was that is an alien superhighway yeah and they that is a whole civilization of aliens and they are moving from one planet to another and they just happen to be going by us how you doing buddy ain't nobody gonna believe what we saw last night [ __ ] cosmic covered wagons they're up there man [Music] yeah and i'm not keeping up on [ __ ] elon man i was news balls i was like kind of miserable yeah i was too sorry to shut my eyes and just see the crazy [ __ ] you're peeing last night it was so loud it sounded like you were peeing in my ear [Music] all right aliens aliens silence let's go shoot yeah and he wanted it's great but it's a great bike but the reason i agreed to do it is because he's a great person all right what was the rain dance for this [Applause] come on felicia holy [ __ ] how fun was it to have him on this button yeah it was sick i mean other than the fact that he has a great attitude and he was kind of like he's hilarious yeah he was like the comedy release yeah it was just like all right cool this is nice yeah easy super easy going yeah you know do whatever and it's just like all right cool well i really admire you guys for what you guys do and for me that was the evolution of motorcycles it's the deepest relationship you can go because you're not bringing into a harley store you're doing everything justin you want to adjust your idol sure so that pushes on the post behind it the learning is what i love and for me it's humbling and i'm learning so much riding with you guys i mean yeah i feel like i'm getting miyagied in and then even back three two or three years ago when i bought the panhead and said to you hey should i buy this pan head i kind of wish you said no yeah i knew it because it's not easy but but at the end of the day i'm so grateful and i do look forward to years of riding this thing i might send one of you on an errand to get more fuses if i blow through all these start checking more fuses yeah i have some oh good you got the big ones yes snakes look one of those [ __ ] in there and see if i don't if i hold this all right damn dude where the [ __ ] hey you guys one kicker what one kicker this today today's been pretty good yeah my spikes was too i used to hang out at hollywood over there a lot what are we doing there hanging out drinking just drinking hanging out with a lot of bikinis over there you ever heard of the rock store uh yeah oh you go there yeah i've been down for a good ride down the down tube there really trying to get established dude i have to move out yeah i got an old four-speed just like what you got right there exactly like what you have it sounds like you sounds like you're starting the good life out here what i'm starting is uh uh more dignified to the extent where i didn't have to sleep on the street i got i i'm working with the with the county right now because i have to i have to comply with their their time mate tank order they're very authority so i can't [ __ ] up because you know in other words i'd like to go out and party when i can i stop drinking too so good for you i did too the guy wants to hang out with you did you film all that you did oh my god he did film all that oh he did i got his whole story good job justin good for him though he got up dude he got off the streets he bought a piece of land out here good for him man he's got a c20 and a pan head yeah he's doing all right i still think it's something up here it still might be inside the switch drove by wanted to help well we saw that that day in lucerne i don't know do you think they wanted to help or do you think they wanted to connect both it was pretty obvious that we were stuck there how long we've been here i wrote a book [ __ ] is the [ __ ] switch the whole time i think i said that every [ __ ] zip tie on the bike are you are you ever not stuck on one of your trips are they trips or are they just being stuck that is the fun of these motorcycles is that you fix your way across the country [Music] you can't put a band-aid on that this whole bike is a [ __ ] band-aid you know it's like do you take this [ __ ] home and build it properly you're getting hot yeah i'm [ __ ] burning up do the [ __ ] miles to shake it down to know what's gonna hold and what's not go check it out four miles down i've never been down here the water company in los angeles bought up this land so nobody has a house down here so you can't even really get sure i'm sure there's a road but i'm sure [Music] it's further north yeah i was trying to remember last night i was laying in bed and i was thinking of the day i left seattle with my truck driving just all the way down the coast of california moving to california the whole time i was so [ __ ] excited hell yeah it was so [ __ ] exciting dude like i know i could i could see you shooting out the side of the tank coming out here for the first time and having that night with you and all the front homies like god the desert magical we got to live here and that was here it's funny how those those really impressionable places yeah that was like 30 minutes they set our lives in motion [Music] he's good let's go get him those parties were a good time man i think everybody can everybody's got a story about the shot back then you know i i don't wonder why we didn't why we didn't build it out here i well the city just had so much momentum back then it was cool for like a it was god it was like a flashing fan that it was like yeah really hot short window they went through every every [ __ ] city they cleaned they cleaned us all out yeah they went through and we had to tear down what had taken us essentially four years our entire house anything worth a [ __ ] like you're gonna have to do a ton of work oh my god you're gonna pay for it in the long run good job man that makes me feel better about our bikes i guess yeah 70 year old motorcycle they can keep we never have a problem keeping up with whatever pace of trouble oh look at that tension shoot an arrow out of that primary that's better there you go thank you there's more gratitude for every mile i'm like this that's what i'm talking about and so time slows down you start to time travel right you we went for what two three days i mean i was underwhelmed i was like are you kidding me i wanted to go for a month but how was those three days felt like three weeks exactly well there's fuel in it [Music] looks pretty clean it's clean [Music] hey todd yeah this butterfly perch is loose watch where your thoughts go because your your thoughts are is the story of your head and it's going to create reality there there is a dark there is a dark side to the road that nobody talks about everybody likes to recite like the pure bliss and excitement of everything let's talk about the dark side that's a good way to put it in this perspective i mean you have to because you know it's like i i was getting pretty dark it's getting pretty dark yeah [Music] a couple years ago this exact same spot we're rolling up to this campsite and snake snapped his brake linkage luckily on an uphill and i was thinking that when we were coming over to the hill i was like this is exactly where snake snap there goes my belt [ __ ] hill is cursed man that one's good that one's all chewed up i got another one hopefully it'll get us home no teeth these are sharp as [ __ ] my wife checks my prostate all the time okay yeah now you have to do that in your 40s yeah 50s 50s i think it's 40s 60s wow it's incredible man when you saw them were they about that high in the horizon too no they were right over our heads no way okay so they change so they went from like here to that way we were like what the [ __ ] now we know every time we think we see an alien it's just elon movement even if it's walking even if it's running even when it's biking just moving has always created calmness in me and created um good ideas spurred creativity if you know if babies crying what do you do you remove it right yeah yeah it calms down it was really windy last night this little kitten slept all night do you think you're neuroscience i don't think i stay on the move so much no i i i mean it could be it could go both ways my me staying on the move creates my neuroses you know i'm also uh an addict an alcoholic so i have that thing of like more faster further you know gotta keep going gotta get it you want it to be at 12 all the time yeah that is kind of nice you can get into the top this thing's [ __ ] the [ __ ] i crave that brotherhood and that struggle and that i i like pain i like kind of getting my ass kicked if you ride with people who are better than you that will push you to become a better rider and i feel like that's the same with anything absolutely it's like that's like when you and i ride together you know we when we lived in l.a we would cruise around the bars and [ __ ] oh here comes a cool truck watch this like a few other people it's like yeah that's some of the funnest [ __ ] ever it's like that's so dangerous it's super dangerous but what you're doing with that fear is you're essentially stacking up experience yeah and skill yeah it's you know it's a slow process but you know if you push yourself you will become a better writer uh on the pan heads it's more emotional and so you really got to watch the mind body machine connection yeah do you know what i'm talking about yeah where i was like i love you i'm starting to love you where did that and then all of a sudden you kicked a [ __ ] bolt out and i almost lost my brakes going down into anime yeah cause the next road is so steep it's like a 20 something grade road i'm woke finally should we tell netflix that [ __ ] that was so creepy man that could have happened such a worst time [Music] a boner while riding only once it's right behind you i wonder if yours broke or the pin came out the pin probably came out yeah uh todd what do you think man this thing looks kind of banged up yeah i think that'll be good all right oh yeah that's all that's on there good now we're good i'm feeling good good show me that again the little your little kit layer of dirt bike well justin johan they don't call it death valley for nothing [Music] yeah there was a moment where i was like i i mean if the brakes go out i'm just gonna jump off this bike send it off a cliff and retire from mr todd's wild ride and never come back to this world of [Music] if you put more time on something you have you have a deeper relationship with it but it's time if you survive conflict and go through it with someone it's always a stronger connection and these older bikes are pretty continuous conflict on every trip you know i try to give myself some perspective you know it's just like well there are plenty of other places in the world where this is a norm this is a daily thing there's a lot of ways to see the world and for me motorcycles has been a way into being able to have these kind of undefensive conversations with different types of people across america no no show me your belly button show me your belly i don't know how it's possible my shirt i sure goes fishing every day [Music] that's sexy that's what happens when you get older your belly button catch everything is hair do you know i guess context is everything it is right it is and it's like but i mean i mean i'm starting to touch it do i know but you can't you can't be murky waters it's scary to talk about on this thing because i know that it is as i start talking about it i start getting nervous i know i guess but i mean you your experience is your experience that's all i can say and like i don't want to necessarily shy away from those things without trying to understand them did you make some friends over there do you hear them talking i grew up with people like that like i was kind of like [ __ ] i wish todd is here because i could have gone down an alley talking to those guys they were so different and i just said i was like oh how's that go over here and he goes like i don't really see that as a reality i don't even like i look at myself sometimes and i'm like i'll say things like uh like to my mom i'll get the vaccine and she'll be like she'll be like how was it and i'll be like well i'm speak cantonese i speak chinese on everyone you know and then she'll say that's racist and i'm like i reflect i'm like oh man maybe i'm racist but then i see like people that like that and i'm like i'm like i'm pretty good well it's like we're all in a nation together and if someone has a problem it's really easy to go well that's your problem yeah deal with it yeah and if i'm in a relationship with somebody which i've been in before and my girlfriend has a problem and she feels a certain way because of my behavior and i say well that's your problem deal with it like how do you think that's gonna go over it yeah that's a really good way to put it that's one that's a way that everyone can understand but if i say that sucks tell me more and actually have empathy because i'm in the same household as that person or i'm in the same country as that person it will go over a lot better hold on i gotta pick something up [ __ ] gym bro disgusting where do you uh what gym do you go to do you remember workout in death valley hold on zoom in again it's been like four hours it's the best plantation planned around it's a lint factory yeah i start shooting you [ __ ] and then i never get my tent set up before dark and then i get up and then i get up before everyone and i shoot everyone getting up and i'm the last person to get my tent yep yep you know how that works yeah i mean i did it last night yeah yeah you look like you got it all right that's right somebody designed this piece of [ __ ] wrong all right let's go shark [Laughter] [Applause] ugh you just set it up the same way just backwards in reverse it should be colored first off look who makes a triangle tent so this i know you're good on this one we i think we just got to flip this one ow no okay so okay hold on how about this what did you do differently i don't understand i don't know but last night everything you it is very pretty i slept with my underwear on my face last night i guess that would work really good [Applause] that's exactly what it felt like to be asleep in there last night yeah you all pack yeah jump [Applause] [Music] it's it's a difficult thing to do to fart while you're riding because you're sitting like all your weight like centered on your butt and so if there's something behind that wall yeah it's coming out it is he had that date shake and he felt it coming on and he tried to like just slip out a little fart and he like he felt himself like rifle something like but he was standing up and he knew not to sit on it he rode standing up for like a mile and these are adventure bikes with like 300 mile tanks but they got to a bathroom and it was it was like a it was like a solid little like snickers pellet like you know the ones you get right it's at halloween running it's like it's not really running is it popping at all no it's just like skipping a little bit [Music] and that's just that's just what makes it fun is that humans love puzzles we love puzzles whether they're physical or you know intellectual and in this case it's both you know we like to we like to put things together and feel like we accomplished something and these bikes are the epitome of that what happened well the fuse blue again but god you went so far this time like running great charging great we're just chasing another devil chasing the satan satan and not today safe man is that snake right here okay reenact it like we just found it caught say action okay wait hold on say action but like pretend like get in get into it if you don't say actually okay like we just found the problem okay action oh my god what happened look at that oh there it is right there that's it right there oh [ __ ] oh my god we could have died out here oh he wanted the [ __ ] two for eight i wanted a two for right nailed that two for yesterday thank god you guys have me here i mean you guys would have been stranded without me my knowledge and expertise of motorcycles true man that's true i mean you are a wealth of knowledge i don't know what we did all this time what about you i like the way it's
