own young people who have chosen to tune in welcome welcome and all of you out there we just want to praise the Lord for you and thank you for joining us welcome to our musicians the operators of these systems welcome to the servants of God who will bring the word today you'll hear more about him later on welcome welcome and we go right into or notices some very important points for you to wonderful time and youth fellowship Thursday past and it was exciting and we want to inform you that youth fellowship continues this and every Thursday be involved and so that we can be blessed we continue on our digital platform and young people you are reminded to assist the elder persons in your community we are necessary brothers and sisters we are still the church and though we might not be here physically we are still the church amen and amen bless the Lord hallelujah we go right into our scripture reading which is taking taken from Matthew 16 verses 13 to 20 if you have your Bible just turn with me Matthew 16 verses 13 to 20 and I will be reading from the contemporary English version Matthew 16 verses 13 to 20 and it reads when Jesus and His disciples were near the town of Caesarea Philippi he asked them what do people say about the Son of Man the disciples answered some people say you are John the Baptist or maybe Elijah or Jeremiah or some other prophets verse 15 then Jesus asked them but who do you say that I am Simon Peter spoke up you are the Messiah the son of the Living God Jesus told him Simon son of Jonah you are blessed you didn't discover this on your own or through human efforts it was shown to you by my father in heaven I call you Peter which means a rock and on this rock I will build my church and the gates of Hell itself will not have any power over it I give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven whatever you on earth is already bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth is already loosed in heaven first 20 and lass jesus told his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the messiah the word of the Lord thanks be to God and our preacher for today is a humble servant of God the president of the youth fellowship brother Tristan enrich our hearts and we look forward to what the Lord will say through his servant reminding you of the victory that we have in Christ Jesus hallelujah but before he comes we invite sister Rowena to so many times I've questioned certain circumstances of things I could not understand many times and try y'all's weakness blurs my vision and my frustration gets out of hand it is then I am reminding I've never been before see I took standpoint and so when I look at all my victories and this weird rise is something it is true the fire my weakness is very strong oh he never promised the boss will not get heavy and the hip would not be hard to fly he never offered a victory without fighting beneath them food always just remember when you're standing in the body of the season and you got everything you just hold on Lord show and we'll take you through the fire I know within myself that I will surely perish oh but if I trust the my team and a bot he'll see you the flames again okay he never promised that the cross not get heavy and the hill would not be hard to [Laughter] he never referred a fixed-width ID but just remember when you're standing in the valley y'all show up and we'll take you through the beginning he never promised that the cross would not be heavy and the hill would not be hard to he never offered a victory without fighting but he said [Laughter] I just remember when you're standing in the body of this mission and the adversary says could you just hold on or Lord will show you the fire again you just hold on or Lord will show any TV we'll take you through the bless the Lord bless the Lord bless the Lord welcome my brothers and sisters to the time of hearing the word of the Lord let us pray may the words of my mouth and the meditation of our hearts together be acceptable in thy sight O Lord my strength and my Redeemer amen my brothers and sisters and young people in particular turn in your Bibles to a well-known passage of Scripture in st. Matthew chapter 16 and verse 18 st. Matthew chapter 16 and verse 18 it says and I tell you that you are Peter and on this rock I will build my church and the gates of Hades are hell will not over commit this morning for the next few moments I speak to you under the topic altar that in ADIZ all tucked in it is for our international viewers who might not understand Jamaican dialect it is come out of that and come into this what are you coming out of you are coming out of the kingdom of darkness and joining the army of the Lord you are coming out of devilry and coming into the righteousness of God from the passage of Scripture read earlier we see that Jesus was the term and to demand a verdict from his disciples he went indirect with the question first then he turned it around no longer did he ask what others think about him but no what do you my disciples have to say about me then here comes Peter from verse 16 Simon Peter answered you are the Christ the Son of the Living God and from that comes our text that Jesus said to him blessed are You Simon son of Jonah but this was not revealed to you by man but by my father in heaven and I tell you that you are Peter and on this rock I will build my church and the gates of Hell will not overcome it so from the text my brothers and sisters we see God's activity that's the first point in the message God's activity it is God's activity because God is carrying out a building work and this activity of God continues to this very day and in this building work there is a saving work saving work as God in His mercy has shed abroad his love in our lives we were wretched we were dirty good-for-nothing and hopeless we were godless and full of sin but God through Jesus Christ stepped out of heaven and came for a rotten sinner like me so nolanda and I condemned but now I am a forgiving child of God no longer does God see my nastiness anymore but no I am clothed in the righteousness of God why my brothers and sisters vadhaka why because I accepted God's gracious offer of salvation when God my brothers and sisters was doing his saving work God looked past your age he looks past your status in life he looks past your occupation he looks past your gender he looks past the community where you lived and even your qualification and I tell him my brothers and sisters that if God wasn't looking for qualified people I would not even be the last name on the list but my brothers and sisters there is an important lesson here I never forget when a young lady came in one in one of our Crusades and testified and in our testimony she said God does not call qualified he qualifies the call God does not call the qualified he qualifies the call so God can call anybody and use any person from any background even the young the Lord can call because God called David a young man chosen an anointed by God to do his work God called Samuel at his young age hearing the voice of the Lord God called Joseph those soul mates brothers into Egypt survived into slavery he later became the leader of Egypt God called Mary a young teenage woman who will become the mother of the savior of the world God does not call the qualified he qualifies the call that is why my brothers and sisters in first Corinthians chapter 1 we read brothers think of what you were when you were called not many of you were wise by human standards not many of you were influential not many were of no birth but God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong he chose the lowly things of the world and he despised things and the things that are not to nullify the things that are so that no one may boast before him it is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus was become for us wisdom from God that is righteousness holiness and redemption and what a blessing my brothers and sisters to know that God foreknew you and so he also predestined you to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ and those whom he predestined he also called and those he called he also justified and those he justified he also glorified so God knew you my young people from eternity past and his purpose for your life was not an afterthought it's instead it was settled from before the foundation of the world and because of how special and you need you are you are predestined and called out of darkness into his wonderful light but my brothers and sisters God did not save you for you to continue in sin or for you to continue living the way you are for after the saving work God is doing a sanctifying work God is doing a sanctifying work for the text in Saint Matthew says that God is building and God is building church he's building church and the Greek for the word church is ecclesia ecclesia so it is a group and better yet a called a group of people what's the conclusion we can draw from that contrary to what others believe the church is not the building or an organization with buildings and offices and services and meetings instead the church is the gathering of the people of the Lord so the church is the people so you and I are the church we are the church in our homes we are the church at school we are the church in our workplaces we are the church on the streets we are the church in our community we are the church on the playground when we are driving we are the church whether we talking on the road are walking we are the Church of the Living God so kovaydin has limited or closed the church building but the church is still open the church is still open so let's establish that that the church is still open but as I said before God did not just call you out of sin to continue the way you are God has called every Christian and in particular my young fellow young people to a higher standard of living highest standard of living listen to first Thessalonians 4 first and onehans for it is God's will that you should be sanctified that you should avoid sexual immorality that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is wholly an honorable not in passionate lost as a heathen who do not know God and that in this matter no one should run his brother or take advantage of him the Lord will punish men for all such sins as we have already told you and warned you for God did not call us to be impure but to live a holy life therefore he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God who gives his Holy Spirit and one of the greatest ways that it devil uses the rock are these young people not to live a sanctified life is no way around sexual immorality I know I believe it was if it is Ephesians 4 that says that there should not be among you not even a hint of sexual immorality but the one who is doing this building work has called us to live a holy life style so what the world does I cannot do it what world thinks I can't think that way why because I am changed I am blood washed I have come from among them and now I am separate I am a brand new creation and in a brand new young person the all has gone and the new husker you life but I can't because I am sanctified by Jesus you do that but I do this because I am sanctified by Jesus I know who helps to helps me to leave this sanctified life nope else what the Holy Spirit and every day as I strive to live the sanctified life I am becoming more and more like Jesus through the work of the Holy Spirit so as a church our identity is different from that of the world the world's mission can be the church's mission the world's cause canonical churches cause we are called out people declaring the praises of him who died that is why the Bible says in first Peter to know in first with a 2:9 that you are no actual and people a royal priesthood a holy nation belonging to God that you may declare the praises of him who died and call you out of darkness into his wonderful light so God is building a special people and that is God's activity but friendly takes secondly my brothers and sisters we see God's aim God's aim for God did not for Jesus did not say I am building a church he did not say I am building the church or I am building some churches or I am building your church jesus said I am hitting my church so we can tell the text in entire today that you are Peter and upon this rock I will build my church my church so let us listen to understand it let us make a careful examination of what we are studying here from first Peter to again first Peter - as you come to him the living stone rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him you also like living stones being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ for in Scripture it says see I lay a stone in Zion a precious and chosen Cornerstone and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame no to you who believed this stone is precious but to those who do not believe the stone the builders rejected has become the capstone and a stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall so the very same Peter who made a confession to Jesus that he is the Christ the Son of the Living God portrays the church with each believer as a stone but the foundation stone or the capstone is Jesus Christ himself so as the scripture says so let's go back to the text day what is it saying about who is that rock or what is the rock that Jesus will build on the rub that Jesus would bill done is himself that is his work of salvation for us by his living among men and dying on the cross and rising from the dead the rock is in a sense Peter Peter who is the first great leader of the church in Jerusalem he is a rock like all of us in a special sense and as one commentator says he is not the rock on which the church is founded that rock is God he is already first stone in the whole church and the rock is also Peters faith it is on the faith of Peter and all of God's children today in brown stone and wherever you are in the world that the church is founded Peter was the first man on earth to discover who Jesus was he was the first man to make that leap of faith and see Jesus as the Son of the Living God so Peter was the first member of the church in a sense and in the ages to come anybody who makes the same discovery as Peter is another stone added to the edifice of the church so from that my brothers and sisters we can come to a conclusion a complete conclusion that Jesus Christ is the foundation of the church he has always been and it can never change the church belongs to Jesus it doesn't belong to any state it doesn't belong to any political party it doesn't belong to the pastor are the Deacons the church belongs to Jesus for we seen that the church is one foundation is Jesus Christ her Lord that foundation is rock solid and he owns it without him the whole church not building no the whole church would disintegrate and collapse one foundation and no other foundation can be laid not man woman a boy or girl can lay any other foundation but that is one conclusion another conclusion from 1st Peter chapter 2 listen to 1st Peter 2 4 and 5 again as you come to him the living stone rejected by men but chosen and precious chosen by God and precious to him you also like living stones are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood so again Peter portrays a church as a spiritual house with Jesus as the foundation and the cornerstone and each believer as a stone but the text says but you also as living stones living stones not a store what's the lesson we can learn here one stone is not a temple one body part is useless unless it has the other that's why we read for example in first Peter in Ephesians I'm sorry Fijians Ephesians chapter 2 verses 19 and 20 Ephesians 2:19 19 to 22 consequently you are no longer foreign citizens and aliens but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Christ Jesus himself as the chief Cornerstone in him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord so my brothers and sisters there is no individual in the church you are a stone among other stones so you must never forget that we are interdependent on every other Christian so God's activity God God's a God is building his or my church but my brothers and sisters one last thing God's assurance God's assurance and he said that I tell you that you are Peter and on this rock I will build my church and the gates of Hell cannot prevail against the church so hell can prevail against the church no matter what ferry docks are thrown at the church the Church of Jesus Christ will stand triumphant and the devil will use every trick in its playbook to try and defeat the church but he has lost already and from the early church we can see that there are many and varied instances when the devil tried to destroy the church but he lost so the devil tried from outside of the church when we read of not long after there is other the disciples were baptized with the Holy Spirit Peter and John were empowered by the spirits and they were teaching and preaching in the temple and the Sadducees were disturbed by the teaching because they did not believe in the resurrection they had been brought before the leaders and the leaders began to question them began to question them and listen to them in acts 4 then Peter filled with the spirit said to them rulers and elders of the people if we're being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a and I asked how he was healed then how they know they you and all the people of Israel it is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead that Bissman stands before you healed he is the stone the builders rejected which has become the capstone for salvation is found in no one else for there is no other name under heaven given to men whereby we must be saved and after seeing the ball nests of Peter and John the leaders meet met together and he threatened them they mustn't preach the gospel again but that was only one instance among others so they never saw that he couldn't equal that the disciples were empowered and so he couldn't distract them or destroy their courage so the devil tried another tactic another player in the book so at this time he decided since I can't get you from outside the church let me go inside the church and try and distract you and then we have acts 5 with Ananias and Sapphira and the devil tried again the husband-and-wife duo grieved the Holy Spirit by lying to him they stole some of the money after what seemed a had made a pledge about what they were going to do and we're going to give all the money to the church but the devil lost again the Holy Spirit reveal their wicked intentions to Peter and they were exposed so the devil tried outside the church and he went inside the church but he forgot that the gates of him cannot prevail against God's church the gates are hell as it has been said are the powers and policies of the devil's Kingdom the dragon's head and horns by which he makes war with the lamb and all that comes out of health gates as being hatched and contrived near these fight against a church by opposing gospel truths corrupting in gospel ordinances persecuting good ministers and Christians drawing and driving persuading by craft or forcing by cruelty to that which is inconsistent with the purity of religion all kinds of schemes and plots the devil will use as the forces of hell and ever for its ruin but we are assured as the people of God that the enemies of the church who are the enemies of Christ shall not gain their point while the world remains Christ will have his church in it which in which his truths and ordinances shall be owned and kept up in spite of all the opposition of the powers of darkness for we are a part of a kingdom that cannot be shaken so that's the assurance but why do we have this assurance or put it another way why do God's people have confidence in this assurance and my brother design sisters and your people particularly simple we have constants in this different because of the one who speaks the one who speaks is the solid rock word because he said it because it gives me hope put another way you have given me a reason to hope because of your word so we can you can come with your plots and the schemes but I have got the belt of truth buckled around my waist you can't come with your trickery I've got the breastplate of righteousness in place you can't come with your demonic forces I've got my feet head with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace come with your lies I've got a shield of faith which has sting wishes the fire darts come with your devilry but I've got the helmet of salvation come with your deception but I have got the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God try anything he wants but I've got on this whole the whole arm of God for the weapons of our warfare are carnal but they have the power to destroy every stronghold every argument and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God so my brothers and sisters I close with this I close with this revelation 12 and there was war in heaven Michael and his ark a and his angels fought against the Dragon and the dragon and his angels fought back but he was not strong enough and they lost their place in heaven the great dragon was hurled on that patient serpent called the devil or Satan who leads the world astray he was hurled to the earth and his angels with him then I heard a loud voice in heaven say no have come the salvation and the power and the Kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ for the accuser of our brothers who accuses them that's the devil before our God day and night has been heard they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony therefore they did not love their life so much as to shrink from death therefore rejoice you heavens and you who dwell in them but woe to the earth and the sea because it devil has gone down to you he's filled with fury because he knows that his time is short Satan steps up the attacks and steps up the persecution because his knows that his time is short but we are not fighting for the victory for we are fighting in the victory because our victory was won by sacrifice the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross so here is the message in a nutshell God bring these people together in common I will build God builds and a firm foundation on this rock I will build he builds something that belongs to him his church he builds his church into a stronghold the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it and my brothers and sisters as my young people in particular as I was appear in this word the Lord gave me this word this specific sentence for every young person and every person watching but especially young people you cannot be outside of God and Christ and be better off it is impossible you cannot be outside of God it is impossible so the only thing left for you to do is to come out of Satan's camp and come and join the kingdom that can never be shaken so what is my encouragement to you today come out attacks and come in alleys amen Melissa Lori brothers and sisters [Music] all things work for or good those sometimes we don't see how they come struggles that bring our hearts into sometimes blinders to virtru our father knows what's best from his will not so when the pathway grows deep and you just don't see him remember you're never God is too wise to be mistaken God is too good to be unkind so when you don't understand when you can't raise his hand trustees home [Music] he sees the master planner and he holds our future in his hand so don't sleep as those but he sees the first like a unfaithful just trust him brothers sisters friends all you have to do is trust him hallelujah bless the Lord my own safe friends I am sure you heard the word today and I am sure you realize that there is victory in not males but in Christ Jesus now this brothers and sisters I'm sure you have been encouraged that God is indeed building his church and the gates of hell has no power over it hallelujah bless the Lord let us pray hallelujah father God in heaven great and mighty are you lord we thank you that you are the god who's too wise to be unfaithful we thank you for your word that reminds us of your activity you saved us O God and you are building us into a holy temple and we thank you Lord God for your assurance that the gates of Hell will not have any power over us it will not overcome us we are your people o God we thank you for your love during this time we thank you for your mercies and your grace we thank you mighty God you are the God who is in control and despite the circumstances around us you will never fail us nor forsake us Lord we pray for our young people today that you remind them Oh God you've called them into your marvelous lives and those not yet saved Lord may they see the need to come into Christ or in him they can have real victory we pray that your touch those Oh God who are mourning today we pray that your comfort those who are suffering we pray that you will heal those who are sick and lord you will save those who have need of salvation you will restore those who have turned their backs on you but most of our God you will heal you and forgive the sins of this nation and the nations of the world and you will heal our lands have mercy upon us O Lord and may your name be glorified in all things in the mighty name of Jesus we pray we lift up your servants O God we thank you for using him as your vessel Oh Lord we pray that you'll strengthen him afresh anoint him and open new dimensions and your glory for him we pray for those who have taken part Oh God in this service Lord bless them strength with them renew their strength and me a name because if I'd have your own Seaway in Jesus name we pray amen hallelujah and now Toro only wise and holy God who through Christ Jesus had made us share in his inheritance rescued us from the Dominion of darkness making us his children who brought us into his eternal Kingdom to him who
