you are nothing without god amen amen most gracious and heavenly father we come to you this morning to god and we thank you for waking us up dear god for putting your breath of life into our lungs father god that we may sing your praises this morning father god we thank you that we woke up in our right mind with use of our limbs this morning father god but it was all because of you god we surrender all to you right now father god we decrease and empty ourselves out so we may be filled with your word this morning god father god we ask that you go ahead and just touch our ears so we hear you clearly touch our hearts so it will penetrate the father with your word and father god we ask you to fill up our well so that it may run over father god so that when we leave this place we can go ahead and splash it on to other people father god in the name of jesus so they may catch this word that we receive this morning their god and selfishly i come to you this morning to god and ask that i decrease let them not see me for i am nobody let them see you in me father god let them hear your word this morning father god i pray their god that it will fall on good ground father and that they will learn how to apply it to their life once they leave this place so that they leave different than how they came it's in jesus name we pray this morning amen amen again i want to say welcome river family and welcome to our cruise liners who are surfing these waters on the virtual waves this morning i come to you on behalf of our pastors doctors marvin and deborah jackson who are getting a much needed rest so let's just send our love to them this morning i also want to give honor to my husband anthony jenkins and to our two charismatic children schuyler cherelle and anthony bralen other known as aj so um for those of you who do not know me i am hannah jenkins and i am honored and privileged to come before you this morning so let's go ahead and jump into our confession so go ahead and grab your devices for those of you who are at home whether that's your bible or electronic device go ahead and put that in your hand and let's declare together this is my bible i am what it says i am i have what it says i have and i can do exactly what it says i can do i am a believer i'm not a doubter i am a doer and not just a hearer this is the word of faith for my life faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of god and i shall be all the better after having heard god's word now if you believe that put your hands together so today i'm going to share a story with you all some of you may be familiar with it and if you're not that's okay but i'm going to talk to you about two sisters one's name is leah and the other one is rachel now i think a lot of us may be able to relate to both of their stories and what i'm going to share with you today and i'm going to give you the overall picture of what's going on and then we're going to get into the word so leah and rachel were daughters of laban and one day leah was out tending with her her father's sheep and jacob came along and saw her saw her beauty and fell madly in love at first sight he was so infatuated with her that he went to laban and said i'll work for you for seven years for your daughter if you give her to me as my wife and he said okay sure no problem but what happened was was on the wedding night uh it was not rachel who was in the marital bed and so um the next morning when jacob woke up he was like whoa what did you do to me now how many of y'all have been in a situation like that where you woke up the next morning was like lord what happened where was i what was i thinking and think about how leah must have felt to have somebody feel that way about her the next morning so jacob goes to layman layman says well it's our our culture that the oldest must marry before the younger so how about you work for me another seven years so again let's take a push a pin in that for a moment how much leah feel here it is this man who already doesn't want me and i was forced because the bible really doesn't tell us whether leah wanted to marry jacob so here it is she's forced into this marriage that she may have or may not have wanted to be in and then married to someone who did not want her and then on top of that to add insult to injury he's now saying i'mma work another seven years for the one i really wanted so he works for seven years for her and he was able to be with her after the week of of of celebration right so layman said to him okay let's play out the week four for the marital celebration and then i'll give you rachel but you have to work for me for another seven years so we're gonna dive right in to genesis 29 and start at verse 16. so i'm telling you the overall story because throughout this message i'm jumping into different sections that i think are very important for you to know so we're going to start at verse 16 and it says now laban who had two daughters the older daughter was named leah and the younger one was rachel there was no sparkle in leah's eyes but rachel had a beauty figure a beautiful figure and a lovely face since jacob was in love with rachel he told her father i'll work for you for seven years if you'll give me rachel your your younger daughter as my wife now we're going to jump down to verse 31 and we're going to read 31-35 when the lord saw that leo was unloved he enabled her to have children but rachel could not conceive so leo became pregnant and gave birth to a son she named him reuben for she said the lord has noticed my misery i want to pause right there real quick because each of these children's names are significant so i want you all to think about each of their names as we re continue to read the story and now my husband will love me she soon became pregnant again and gave birth to another son she named him simeon for she said the lord had the lord heard that i was unloved and has given me another son then she became pregnant a third time and gave birth to another son he was named levi for she said surely this time my husband will feel affection for me since i have given him three sons once again leah became pregnant and gave birth to another son she named him judah for she said now i will praise the lord and then she stopped having children we're going to continue on into chapter 30 we're going to read verses 1 through 8 and then skip down to 22 and 23. when rachel saw that she wasn't having any children for jacob she became jealous of her sister she pleaded with jacob give me children or i'll die then jacob became furious with rachel and my god he asks he's the one who has kept you from having children then rachel told him take my maid bilhah and sleep with her she will bear children for me and through her i can have a family too so rachel gave her servant bilhah to jacob as his wife and he slept with her bilhah became pregnant and presented him with a son rachel named him dan for she said god has vindicated me he has heard my request and has given me a son then bill howe became pregnant again and gave jacob a second son rachel named him naphtali for she said i have struggled hard with my sister and i am winning verse 22. then god remembered rachel's plight and answered her prayers keep that in mind and answered her prayers by enabling her to have children so today's message that i want to talk to you guys about it's titled broken but purpose broken but purpose because see sometimes we feel that because we're broken we're no longer useful sometimes we feel that because we have been through something in our past whether it was something that we did or happened to us that we are no longer qualified to be used by god there's times where we feel that things that have occurred in our lives have in some way stopped us from what the assignment was from when god first put us in our mother's womb how we have a way of changing god's plans for our lives or as if god didn't know that that was already going to happen so the first thing that i want to talk to you guys about this morning is when ignored things can become breakable over time and i'm getting this from chapter 29 verse 17 where it says that there was no sparkle in leah's eyes i said to you guys at the beginning when i was telling you the story how i questioned how must have leah felt to be put in a marriage that she didn't ask for that she may not have wanted and then to be married to a man who did not want her did not show her love did not show her affection did not make her feel special in any way she had no sparkle in her eyes a lot of theologians will say that because other translations will say that she had weak eyes that oh maybe she literally had weak eyes maybe she wasn't pleasant to look at but this version i like because it says she lost sparkle because if you go to matthew 6 and 22 it says you let your eye your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body when your eye is healthy your whole body is filled with light she lost her sparkle so when people saw her if your eye is what makes you healthy and you lose your sparkle then you're gonna look like something's wrong how many of you have allowed something in your life to dim your light and see over time because either you never decided to touch that to talk about it it was swept onto the rug it got ignored so over time you carry this thing with you because you weren't healed from it it was never resolved it was never fixed it just followed you wherever you went but it was seen in your eyes some of us are carrying hurt from childhood trauma from things that happened in our teenage years things that could have happened yesterday we're carrying it around with this weight upon us and we ignore it not healed from it not allowing ourselves to heal from it and not realizing that we're passing it on to our children and our children's children if we never fix it and so leah she lost her light along the way because it was something that was ignored lee and rachel both experienced brokenness from the same place people how many of us know that people can hurt us i don't know who came up with sticks and stones may break my bones but words would never hurt me but i wish they never did because that is so far from the truth because words hurt more than sticks and stones because the thing about words is is that not only does it affect us but it affects us in a way that other people don't see see if i break my leg y'all see if i walk around with a cast y'all will see if my bones are broken you'll see that something is wrong with me but emotional hurts mental hurt that's something that's hidden and there's a lot of us who were told when we were younger or we don't talk about that we don't talk about uncle joe we don't talk about the person who touched us we don't talk about our mama's crack addiction we don't talk about our father's alcoholism we don't talk about that stuff we hide it and so we have children growing into adulthood carrying around these scars not realizing that it's something that happened long time ago that we never addressed so we lost our sparkle i told you all to pay attention to the names right i said that because this is what leah was saying she wanted to be seen she wanted to be heard she wanted to be connected and feel loved but she was looking in the wrong place she was looking at jacob she was like jacob see me hear me love me it wasn't until she had judah that she finally said oh god i thank you i praise you i'ma give you glory i'm gonna give you honor i'm gonna look to you because this man who doesn't know how to handle my brokenness this man who doesn't know the pain that i've experienced throughout my life this man does not know how to handle me and it's a lot of y'all out here running to the very thing that hurt you looking for healing looking for restoration looking for your you to be made whole a lot of us will even get into a marriage or into a relationship thinking that that person is supposed to complete us please let me tell you this today your spouse your significant other is not meant to complete you only god can complete you your spouse is meant to be a compliment hear me again your spouse your significant other is meant to be a compliment because there's areas in your life that you need improvement on that your spouse has and they can help you with that and vice versa there's areas in their life that they need improvement on and you can help them with that but y'all are not meant to complete each other only god can complete you because only god knows what to do with those broken pieces only god knows how to turn those marking pieces into a masterpiece because he made you fearfully and wonderfully made you he knew exactly what you were gonna do before you even came into your mother's womb you were with him before he sent you and he sent you with an assignment and there's nothing that you can do or happens to you that will change that [Applause] i'm trying to take my time but i got a lot to get to you rachel and jacob rachel had jacob's devotion so some of you may be wondering okay and i understand how leah was broken but what about rachel well how many of us have been in a place where people look at you and they're just like oh she good he good they don't need nothing else they don't want for nothing you know she had all this beauty she had all these admirers right so people probably looked at her like oh she all right but no rachel rachel had a problem with comparison comparison is a silent killer because comparison will steal your joy you'll be comparing yourself so much to other people and what they have as you are pursuing this life of perfectionism and you trying to be all these things that what you think other people want you to be rather than what god said that you are. and so rachel had this problem right because in our eyes rachel yo what's wrong with you you got your husband's love the man worked for you for 14 years what you boohoo crying about but rachel was concerned about leo leah having all these children and back in those days if you weren't making if you weren't having babies something was wrong with you as a woman but did the bible ever tell us that people were calling rachel barron did the bible ever tell us that people were talking about her about not having any children no rachel took on that label on her own how many of us are out here taking on labels that would never belong to us but you carrying it around on you you over here walking around with the label that you slapped on your chest because you thought that somebody else was thinking about something that you was doing so rachel finds herself in this position where she's like you know she's jealous because that's what it says and i want to and it's taking me to to my second point don't let compare comparison steal your joy chapter 31 and one tells us she became jealous of her sister and in galatians 6 4-5 the message version tells us make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given and then sink yourself into that pause make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given the last time i was before y'all i talked to you about your cup can you drink from this cup a lot of us are out here trying to drink from other people's cup that ain't the cup that was given to us but we comparing i like your cup better than mine but your cup may be a bottle i can't give a baby my coffee when they steal on breast milk some of y'all are still on breast milk we got some growing up to do before we can move on to something else don't compare yourself with others the verse continues to say each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life mind your [Music] business stop worrying about somebody else's business and how they're doing that you fail to realize that yours is lacking because you're so concerned about theirs i'ma say that again thank you mind your business and stop worrying about what somebody else is doing god gave that to them do y'all hold up let me calm down god is no respecter of persons right so what he does for one he does for another what makes you think that god ain't over here blessing them too but you so worried about their blessing god why why why and god is like as soon as you get your mind off of theirs and get your mind on yours maybe i can move in yours [Applause] there's a quote by zen shin that says a flower does not think of competing to the other flower next to it it just blooms [Applause] flowers out here in the field like i'm a bloom i'ma do the best that i can because this is what god told me i'm supposed to do so i'm gonna worry about my own self and just bloom but us human beings who got intelligence over here worried about the other flowers next to us well this person they got a prettier flower their bloom looks a lot bigger than mine and then this person over here they're purple i'm yellow god i don't want to be yellow i want to be purple it's so interesting because we live in this world of social media right and social media is good but it also can be bad because we find ourselves attached to our phones and attached to our instagram accounts and our facebook accounts and our twitter accounts and all these other accounts and we're looking at the stuff that people post but ask yourself am i going to post my highlight or my blooper because you over here looking at a lot of people's highlights comparing them to your bloopers ain't that next up isn't that jacked up like we're seriously over here looking at somebody's highlight reel because that's what we want to show people we don't want to show people our mess we don't want to show them our transparency that i'm broken that i'm going through something we don't want to share that stuff that's ugly no i'm going to share the pretty picture perfect how many y'all in here got children and y'all have tried to take a family photo i'm telling y'all the truth i will take about maybe 20 to 50 pictures of my kids and it's only one i'll say that again one that i can actually post that i like but the reality was the other 20-something pictures that i took it wasn't that one moment where both of them were smiling and skylar wasn't holding him in the headlock and he was doing a cross-eyes but that's my life if y'all were to ever follow myself or anthony on instagram and look at our story that is our life our children do the weirdest things but what we post is the picture perfect right because that's what we want people to i like that no let them like your ugly let them like your messed up let them like your jacked upness yes i made that up yo jacked up miss because some of us in here are jacked up and we don't want to admit it i stand before you this morning letting you know hannah is jacked up okay you see me on this stage and and you may say oh that that girl can preach or you may say oh that young lady this and it is hard for me to get up here because i don't feel worthy i'm just gonna be honest with y'all i do not feel worthy to come before who am i to tell y'all about this great god i'm just a nobody who has made somebody because of him i used to well let me go back a little bit some of you are probably familiar with this new term that's going on or that is being used a lot and it's called imposter syndrome and a lot of times imposter syndrome is referred to when you are in these spaces that you feel that you're unqualified to be in you know because you you feel like oh they're going to figure out that i'm imposter i'm not really that smart i'm really i'm not that in you know intelligent i don't deserve to be here and it's like no you do deserve to be there but i'ma flip that for you because i also deal with imposter syndrome but in another way i deal with it and feeling that my story isn't as bad as other people's to talk about it and i've learned that by thinking that which is like a false sense of humility me thinking that has allowed me to just suppress everything that i've been through and not acknowledge it but i carry it around because those insecurities haven't gone anywhere and god has revealed to me through his word and through my husband hannah how can i ever receive the glory if you don't share your story and that's the thing a lot of us don't share our story because we're afraid of what people are going to say and what people are going to look like so we walk around broken and then in our brokenness we feel unqualified to do anything that god has called us to do we have these little strides here and there where we feel like okay yeah i can do this i can do this and then there's something that triggers what happened in the past because that's what the enemy would use oh she thinks she's great now oh he think he great now let me just remind them of who they are but if you always remember who you are and where you came from and who made you they ain't nothing that the devil can hold on you [Applause] stop trying to fix it on your own rachel said in verse in chapter 30 and one give me children or i'll die some of us are dying figuratively and literally trying to fix our broken pieces you ain't fixed it by now hello you can't fix it maybe some of y'all can relate to this how many of you have had a pipe burst in your house and the mr or mrs fixit in the house is like i got it i can fix it and they made the problem worse some of us are in here trying to fix ourselves and we're making the problem worse we need to give these broken pieces to god so she says give me children or i'll die jacob becomes angry am i in the place of god some of y'all need to ask yourself that question am i in the place of god we try to put ourselves in the place of god and try to make things happen james 4 6 it tells us that you want what you want but you don't have so you scheme and kill to try to get it a lot of us trying to scheme and kill to get what we want to get so we can fix what we need to fix even though that we know that we can't fix it ourselves because we are not god so you become jealous of what others have what did rachel do she became jealous what are some of y'all doing becoming jealous of what other people have but then it tells us later on in the verse it says you don't get it because your motives are wrong check your heart why are you trying to have what rachel has why are you trying to have what this other person has check your heart is it because you want it so that you can give god the glorious because you want it because you want the glory message version says you're spoiled children wanting your own way we don't want to admit that we spoil we don't want to admit that oh no i'm really a good person you probably are but you're a really good person with a jacked up heart i'm a really good person but i got a jacked up heart i gotta go to god and be like god clean my heart creating me a clean heart with a right spirit [Applause] search my heart show me your ways and teach me because i can't do it on my own because on the inside of me yes i have the holy spirit but i also got my flesh and the flesh don't want what the spirit wants they are at war daily which is why daily we have to deny ourselves take up our cross and follow him daily we have to denounce ourselves we have to lay it down there's purpose in what appears to be broken chapter 39 and 31 it says when the lord saw that leo was not loved he opened her womb but rachel was barren this situation was not surprising to god it was purposed we tend to see the burden or brokenness in our current situation but god knows the purpose of a thing and it's always for our good even though it doesn't feel or look good romans 8 and 28 tells us and we know that god causes everything to work together for the good of those that love the lord and are called according to his purpose so let me tell you how this was purposed leah may have been unwanted but was the mother of six of the twelve tribes of israel including judah making her the ancestral mother of the divinic line and ancestress to jesus rachel was the mother of joseph who endured a process all of his own to be in the position to preserve israel so that the davinic line could survive is that not a purpose both were purposed but chose to look at their brokenness or what they thought was broken leah thought she was broken because she didn't receive love from a man but always had the love of the father rachel thought that she was broken because she was barren but she always had the love of the father who knew that i was eventually going to open up her room so that she could give birth to a son who was going to be the one to preserve the divinic line of the plan that i have purpose all along for jesus to come to the earth and to die for the sins of all of us change in perspective we have to change our perspective bible tells us to count it all joy in all things but a lot of us ask god how can i give you joy how can i count on all joy when i'm broken when i'm feeling this way change your perspective yes it's easier said than done i'm not gonna stand here and tell you that as simple as one two three no it's not it's hard to change your perspective it's hard to see that you're in a situation where you're about to lose your house there's no money in the bank your children need to be fed you have no no no no place to wash your clothes or to take your next bath you don't know where your next meal is going to come hannah how can i count that all joy because i told you earlier during the offering that there's always a blesser and a blessing that there is somebody in the earth that god is going to use to supply what you need because he said and he is not a lie because unless y'all going to sit here and tell me no no i don't really believe the bible but the bible tells us that he said he will count he will meet all of our needs so if he's going to meet all of our needs and god you see i am in need right now do you not think he is going to make a way out of no way this is why we sing songs that says he's the waymaker right we sing songs that he is our provider we just sing a song that says that he turns graves into gardens he turns mourning into dancing that he he turns he makes seas into highways and this is the great god that we sing about on sundays and i hope you don't just sing about him on sunday but that you sing about him monday tuesday wednesday thursday friday and saturday because you need to have that praise inside of you so that you can know who god is and tell the devil you don't have a place in my life broken crayons still color you give a box of crayons to a child they may break them but does the child see those broken pieces as unuseful or is it you who's ready to throw them in the trash and buy them a new box that child will continue to play with those crayons and make beautiful pictures until there is nothing but a nub left god is like give me your nubs broken pieces in the wrong hands may look like trash one man's trash is another man's treasure some of us are trying to put our broken pieces in the hands of somebody who has no idea what to do with them we even try to put them in our own hands and we have no idea what to do with them because we're asking the question god i'm broken what how can you use me you don't even know but you're trying to fix it and god is like give them to me because i know the masterpiece that you are supposed to be i know what i sent you here for in fact i knew about your broken pieces before they even happened because i'm going to use them for my glory so that other people may know the story and may know how good i am [Applause] it's time to embrace philippians 4 11-13 says not that i was ever in need for i have learned how to be content in whatever i have i know how to live on almost nothing or with everything i have learned the secret of living in every situation whether it was with a full or empty stomach with plenty or little for i can do everything through christ who strengthens me verse 11 not that i was ever in need change verses 12 and 13 and 14 for me because a lot of us like to say oh i can do all things through christ who strengthens me but you had a purpose your purpose is different from your potential you have the potential to do anything but what your purpose is always going to remain your purpose so yes you can do all things through christ who strengthens you but he strengthens you for the purpose but you're trying to do what you want to do over here because many are the plans of a man's heart but it's the will of the lord that will prevail the purpose so while you out here trying to fix it on your own trying to do things on your own trying to make it happen on your own the plan and will of god is still going to happen here let me give you an example okay rachel you saw that you were barren so what did you do you repeated history by giving bilhah to jacob just like sarah gave hagar to abraham did you not learn from her lesson no because you're still over here trying to fix it for yourself but god was like it's okay because in my master plan i have every detour every addendum and every correction already built in so even though you went ahead and gave jacob bill ha i still worked it out for my purpose which was you were eventually going to have joseph who was going to go through the pit who's going to go to prison and they'll be in the pharaoh and pharaoh's house so that he could save the israel and divinic line [Applause] who are we trying to please galatians 1 and 10 tells us obviously i'm not trying to win the approval of people but of god if pleasing people were my goal i would not be christ's servant a lot of us are falling into these comparison traps and falling into these different situations and walking around with brokenness because we're trying to please people we're trying to hide our brokenness so that people will accept us we are searching for acceptance and are willing to become whatever we need to be to get it therefore we're in an identity crisis because our spirit man can't agree with the flesh's insecurity of being a peculiar person let me say that again our flesh is in war with our spirit man because our flesh can't deal with the insecurities of being a peculiar person did god not say that we are a peculiar people a chosen generation that he set us apart we are supposed to be different we're not supposed to look like this world we're in it but we're not of it we were created in his image create means to bring into existence image means a visual representation of something god brought us into existence to be a visual representation of him in this world not only were we created with his image but we were created with his holy spirit which he placed on the inside of us because greater is he that is in us than he was in the world which means that we got greatness on the inside broken or not you got greatness on the inside of you [Applause] and because of that greatness that's on the inside of you god is like i qualify you at all times even in your mess you could have been somewhere that you weren't supposed to be last night and god says i still think you're great i still can use you i still can use you for the purpose that i already had for you why because nothing can separate us from his love romans 8 38 and 39 and i am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from god's love neither death nor life neither angels nor demons neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow not even the powers of hell can separate us from god's love no power in the sky above or in the earth below indeed nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of god that is revealed in christ jesus our lord that alone should make you want to get up in praise and run around this building because to know that nothing can separate you from god's love to know that nothing you can do nothing that has ever happened to you can change god's thinks and thoughts about you your broken pieces are just broken pieces in your hands but in the master's hands it's a masterpiece in the master's hands it is useful in the master hands it's on assignment in the master's hands it has purpose and the master's hand is able to heal and the master's head is able to restore and the master's auntie's able to lift you up and the master says he's able to use you to touch somebody else we are all broken people and yet we are the body of christ which is not broken because we are made church is his body it is made full and complete by christ who fills all things everywhere with himself we're all broken but we're all the body and because we're all the body we are whole i'm gonna share this because my time is up some of you may know my health story and some of you may not but at the age of 14 i was diagnosed with a skin disorder called erythema nodosum in short basically it's just this um it's a hard nodule that develops in the fatty layer of the skin it hurts a lot when i have a flare-up 50 of the people who are diagnosed with it there's an unknown cause i'm one of the fifties percent uh at the age of 14 i was told that i was going to be on medication for the rest of my life and i said uh i didn't want that so after dealing with it a couple of years it was after i got pregnant with um aj that i had like three flare-ups within a 10-month span which was really bad doctors were like okay well after you finish nursing and um after you have the baby we're going to give you a harsher treatment i was like well hold up because the treatment that they were giving me they were saying that it was going to deteriorate my bones over time so i was just like if this one is going to deteriorate my bones what is the harsher treatment gonna do so i decided to change my diet and i um through transition went pescatarian and eventually vegan and that's what i am now well uh earlier this year i had a flare-up it was one of the worst flare-ups i've had since being vegan and i've been vegan now for like five years so i ended up having to go back to the doctor same thing still no known causes nothing that they can do about it and they're just like you're gonna have to be on medication i refuse because even in my brokenness i am still healed i'm still whole you are broken but your purpose you are broken but you're healed why because you are made complete in god i am complete in him lord if this is what you have for me to give my story to somebody else to tell somebody else that they can make it too then i'ma say it i'ma share it because there was a time i told you all about the imposter syndrome right there was a time where i didn't share my story because i was like my illness is not as bad as somebody else's because i don't have to be in the hospital i don't have to stay on my medication i don't have to go through some of the things that i've heard other people endure with the things that they had so i didn't feel that i was worthy enough to share with anybody so i allow the enemy to make me feel like no don't share that because then people don't think you trying to you know want them to feel sorry for you don't want people to feel sorry for you i don't want you to feel sorry for me i want you to rejoice with me i want you to pray for me i want you to be like lord one day you're going to remove that from her all together and even if you don't she's still going to stand on whatever platform she's given to share her story with somebody else to let them know that they can make it too my situation may not be as bad as yours but you know what it tells you if god can do something in my life he can do it for yours and if he can do it for you he can do it to the next person that you get a chance to talk to [Music] my time is up but what i want you guys to walk away with today is is that your broken pieces are still useful nobody can take that away from you no one because nothing can separate you from the love of god and his love is all over you the fact that you're still here the fact that you still have breath in your lungs that tells you that you woke up with purpose this morning even in your brokenness and god is like all you have to do is give them broken pieces to me no matter what it is whether it's a divorce you've gone through whether it's a barren situation that you're dealing with whether you lost your job whether you feel like an unfit mother unfit father whether you're dealing with mommy issues or daddy issues of your own whether you're dealing with alcoholism any type of addiction whatever it is that you're dealing with all of those broken pieces give them to the master because he says to cast your cares onto him because he cares for you so if there's anyone out there that feels broken there's someone who can fix it his name is jesus and he endured suffering and pain on a cross just for you because he knew you had purpose and that there were works that you were going to do beyond him so he hung up on a cross and gave up his life because nobody took it from him just like nobody can take your joy because god gave you joy he left it with you but all the times that you have cried all the times that you have felt bad all the times that you've gone through something it was because you allowed your joy to be given away but you could have kept it because grace and mercy comes to us daily and it's sufficient and it's a choice to use the grace and mercy that's given to us for that day to keep our joy to maintain our peace because god is not a man that shall lie and what his word says is true and when he tells you that you can find liberty and freedom and peace and joy in him you can but you gotta surrender stop trying to fix it on your own so whether you're here in the building or like i said cruising the virtual ways online you can give your heart to god you can surrender to him today and say lord take my broken pieces lord i don't know what to do with them anymore i've tried everything else but it didn't work and today i saw this little brown skin girl on the tv oh i see this little brown skin girl standing before me and she's telling me that you can take my broken pieces because you took hers and i'm not going to stand here and tell y'all that my broken pieces are fixed because they're not but i'm walking in healing it's a progression there's still a lot that god has to work out of me there's still a lot that he still has to deal with me because i've had a interesting childhood and a lot of the things that happened in my childhood i just suppressed because i didn't want it to make me feel broken not realizing that by suppressing it i broke myself even more and so today i stand before you broken but purposed because it was my purpose to come before you today and to share this with you so if you're like me and you realize that you have broken pieces and you want to be fixed come to jesus tell them all about your troubles i tell you he'll be the very best friend you'll ever have because he won't judge you he won't talk about you he won't hurt you even more he won't ever disappoint you all he's going to do is love you because even right now even though some of you may not be talking to him he's still sitting listening waiting waiting for you to come and all it takes is one step all it takes is one slip of the hand lord that's me save me i'm yours i surrender it all so i just want to open that up to anybody in the room or anybody on online if you're online please type in the chat i want to be saved i want to come to know him or maybe you've already given your life to him and you turned away and took some steps back it's always one step back to him no matter how far you think you ran away it's just one step back so i opened that up to you as well and if you feel like you know hannah i hear you but i'm not ready to make this public display i don't want people to know i'm broken all i say is this jesus founded not robbery to publicly display himself on a cross for you so with that i'll wait a while and if nobody comes that's okay i can only assume that all of us in here have already given our broken pieces to god but i know that pastor would also want me to say that this is the best church ever and if you feel like you want to be a member and morning let us pray most gracious and heavenly father we thank you for today dear god you just saturated this place with your presence there god and it was felt we thank you father god for the word that you delivered today father god we thank you to the lord that it has penetrated our hearts there god that when we leave this place father god we will take it with us remembering that our broken pieces are masterpieces in your hands father god knowing father god that you have a good work for us and you will continue to do that work until the return of our savior father god we thank you lord and to god even though we may be able we may be getting ready to depart from one another we are never separate from your presence to god and we thank you that we carry you with us wherever we go and there god we ask that you touch our ears touch our eyes father god touch our hands for us to really be your hands and your feet in this world father god to really be your representation in this world father god to no longer fight with our flesh their father in being a peculiar person let us walk out in confidence in you father god knowing who we are in you dear lord and we give you all the glory
