running life's race until you have won [Music] good evening welcome to terrific tuesday yes yes we're so excited to be here we're so excited to see you and of course i know you are excited to see us likewise of course uh we are here for another um session of a running life's race and i am tariq and i'm petra yes and we both are your hosts now uh we've been having such an awesome time here and i that was about transparency not covering up and being just open with god right and then on saturday evening saturday evening yes it was bewear prepare and of course it served as a warning for us just to remember that you know there is is coming an end to everything and we should just get ourselves in order right and then yesterday for the first day of the week we kick-started the week with smooth sunday and the title for yesterday was focus on your finish and we were looking into the story of job and we explored many concepts but one of the things that i took away was that your situation does not have to determine or does not have to be your destination right and one of the things i loved about last night which i it kept ringing in my my ears is you know almost dead is not dead or half dead is not dead because once there's life there's hope and of course petra um even though we started by saying it but you know mistakenly tomorrow will be terrific tuesday and um what's our chat for tomorrow petra it says exercise and put your faith into action lovely lovely and then we'll have on wednesday we'll have wednesday yes so make sure you're here for that and as we said last night send lot of individuals look forward to yes because you know they get to know much more about pastor so he'll be joining us um pastor are you there thank you hello good evening good evening and how are you doing good thank you i'm hot what's the weather like i was actually gonna say so today was quite warm yes very warm here in london how about how's the weather out there uh it's bright lovely and i guess you would appreciate this climate or our weather this time yeah especially the breeze the breeze at least there's some breeze i'm sure definitely so of course pasta as we do every night we have a few questions that we'd like to ask you petra um the first one sure so the first question that we've got down for you today pasta is when you were younger what did you want to be oh when i was growing up or maybe i should tell you what i did not want to be at first i never wanted to be a pastor i never considered myself to be all dressed up in these soft clothes and so forth i i really wanted to be on the rocker and tougher side of it i wanted to be more into construction architecture that has been my passion and i just never saw myself as a pastor but as time went on even as i studied architecture at mobile from montego bay community college there are some of my peers who would ask me if i were sure that architecture were my calling and uh just serving in church realizing that the church is a place of imperfection and that i myself i'm imperfect i sense that god might very well take me along a path where i can be a better person even as i help others the better themselves so you may say i have diverted i have not really diverted i am now on a path where i am being rebuilt into the image of the lord and that god is helping me to help people to rebuild their lives from the ruin and rubbles of their experiences amen you're providing a different blueprint yeah exactly lovely lovely i like that possible of course you know we always have or nice little i don't want to call it trick question faster but you know we we enjoy this one you know um would you rather to be imprisoned for over two years or to be swallowed by a whale talk to us faster for some reason i believe that you are pranksters or something of the kind to be in prison for two years over and it depends on where that person is and what is the kind what kind of confinement would be present right because you can be in prison and you have access to internet and you have access to television you get to play games it depends on the kind of prison i've never really been in prison so i i i can't say what it feels like neither have i been in the belly of the whale but if i were to choose that i'll really say my prayer and say lord uh you who caused the prison doors to open for paul and silence god you who uh caused the whale or that great fish to swallow jonah and to vomit him upon dry land i put my case into your charge i put my case into your charge but if i were to know the outcome in prison for two long years or to be in the belly of a whale for a short moment uh the pain may be and the discomfort may be unbearable but i would bear the shorter discomfort in order to get my freedom in a quicker period okay okay especially if it's somewhere like guantanamo right yes and and the truth is that's how life is you're you're provoking me you almost make me feel like preaching that sometimes some of us would like to live in a a more comfortable place of confinement than to suffer for a brief moment to realize something greater something more spectacular i feel like preaching but i won't all right faster hold on pasta we're coming okay and finally the last question for tonight is what advice would you give a young person who wants to take an active part in church but lack some confidence you see in order to be your best self you have to first start none of us is perfect uh we make mistakes and uh each person learns from his or her mistake but when you start you will develop confidence if you do it once the next time it may be easier and guess what it is okay to feel nervous would you believe that after preaching for well over 20 years that sometimes i feel nervous i feel nervous before preaching nervousness by the way uh comes as a result of the body preparing itself with extra energy to undertake the task so even in being nervous it is a sign that god is preparing you to do what you should do so it's about how you channel the energy that you receive at that time and and even as you want to be engaged it would be good to have a mentor somebody to guide you somebody to encourage you somebody whom you can ask for tips to do better at what you're doing yes amen amen lovely so there you have it that was of course or or speaker a better day after all i hope and pray that you are living in anticipation for that better day even as you learn to run your life's race let us pray our father we pray now that by your mercies you will take charge and help oh god that the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart will be acceptable in your sight because you are your strength you are our redeemer in jesus name amen amen i trust that you had a good day and that you are ready to receive the spirit and the power of god you are ready to receive a word from the throne of god i pray you are ready i hope that you are growing some muscles and developing some stamina as you learn to run life's grace for today's message for this evening's message we are focusing on what if you fall what did i say what if you fall and so so i greet you whether you are in the century at home wherever you may be maybe you may even be at work late whatever you are doing i hope that you are connecting and you are sharing the link even as you help somebody to come and learn to run life's race the question this evening is what if you fall what if you fall it is uh it is is it ever a good thing to fall is it ever a good thing to fall now now the truth is that depending on what you're doing it can be a good thing to fall it depends on the outcome of your fall that is what you do while you fall your fall can be something good for example if you're playing football and you fall as you slide to score a goal or to save a goal it would be an exciting fall man then i know that others may say that it is an exciting mind-boggling experience to fall in love while others may say it is better to grow in love than to fall in love yes yes yes there can be good sides to a fall but what if it is what if you are running a race and you fall how do you treat a fall when you run the race if you were doing a hundred meter dash and you fall the likelihood is that you will finish and if you finish that is you will finish in the last place what to do if you fall as we're here this evening i'm suggesting that in running lights race or in running any race we need to decide what to do if we fall i fall you see my friends whether literal or figurative is a downward move and even though some aspects can be pleasurable it can prevent you that is the fall can prevent you from realizing your desired goals and objectives this evening we will look at the life of someone who had a great fall i said we will look this evening at the life of someone who had a great fall from the account of his life we will observe at least three things one it is dangerous to lose focus last night we said we should focus on how you finish and now i am saying it is dangerous to lose focus the next thing i want you to learn from this message is sin has dangerous consequences sin has dangerous consequences and finally we should learn how to be careful or we should be careful about our attitude towards sin we should be careful about our attitude towards sin the person this evening in focus is david the the the person in focus is david we know of david david as that obedient and innocent shepherd boy that some explain music on the heart and we know of him as the poet the one who penned the shepherd's psalm the lord is my shepherd i shall not want we know david as the giant killer who says to god thou come to me with a spear and with a sword but i come to you in the name of the lord we know david and how he gained the victory over goliath yes we know david as the king that the king of israel the the the modern king of israel if you ask me we know david as the ancestor of jesus christ we know david as one of the greatest men in the old testament and yes yes yes my friends all of us might want to be like him in this regard but but while we consider these good and glorious traits of david we should understand also that there was a different side to david's life as you run life's race i ask what will you do when you fall some of us right now i've not just been trying not to fall even as i speak i know that some person watching this message may very well be wallowing in the in the quagmire of sinful living somebody may be wallowing wallowing in in that quagmire of under achievement somebody this moment may just be suffering and struggling on the ground being covered by dust and crime right now you may be at a place where you are struggling for survival even among rodents right now you may be at your lowest and you're wondering what to do because you have already fallen you may be at your lowest now i submit that david is a good model because while we know david is one of the greatest men of the old testament and all of us might want to be like him in this regard when we consider that david was a betrayer david was a liar david was an adulterer and david was a murderer who really would want to be like him who of our company wants to be labeled a liar who wants to be a betrayer who is proud to be an adulterer who is a who how attractive is it to be a murderer what do you want to do would you like to be like david in this regard you know while none of us wants to model the negative traits of david and potter in our lives after his failures we should be slow to condemn him because these evil characteristics mentioned might very well be true of any of us i i can ask the question jesus asked when those who brought that woman caught in adultery and even as they desire that the woman be stoned jesus speaks to everybody present and he says he who is without sin let him first pass the stone so so just before just before you think that you do not possess any of these weak and fragile traits of david and that you're on spiritual mount everest because there are some of us we think a little bit too much of ourselves we we think like we are god's gift to the world and and we just we just are out of touch with the reality of our situation because sometimes when we think we're on spiritual mount everest we may be suffering sinking deeply into a spiritual grand canon but for us to for we should never forget we should never forget that if we break one of the least of the commandments of god we're told by james the apostle that we are guilty of all in james 2 verse 10. it doesn't matter how good you are good and godly god fearing if you please if you break one of the commandments of god says james we are guilty of all so yes is there somebody who doesn't know what it is to fall is there somebody who doesn't know what it is to fail you know one of the things i like about the bible is that it doesn't make any effort to hide anybody's failures you know sometimes we just want to put or or our best face or best side forward you know even when we take photographs sometimes we tend to believe that depending on how we align ourselves the picture may look a little bit better you know some of us just want to have the best picture shown and it doesn't matter what is happening as long as we look good on camera as long as we look good in the public space as long as people think well of us we are satisfied but i want to let you know that it doesn't matter how well you look before others god knows who is of standing and god knows who has fallen and so one of the things i really do like about the bible it does share the fullness of this story it shares your good it shares your bad the bible makes it clear that david is no exception yet david is remembered as a man after god's own heart what a good god david this man of prominence yet a man of failure is a good example to observe even as we seek to run life's race so if david is a man after god's own heart how then could david be caught up in this great predicament with another man's wife so david this man of prominence this man who is in a high office in a high building that is living in a high house this man who really should be an example to everybody happens to find himself at a place of grave danger you know the fundamental problem is that david found himself at the wrong place at the wrong time and and you may be saying to me preacher how could david find himself in the in the wrong place at the wrong time when david was at home now i submit to you that he found himself in a position where murphy's law anything that can go wrong will go wrong was more likely to be fulfilled for when you find yourself in the right place at the wrong time it is most likely that the wrong thing will happen david was at home but david was at the wrong place can i tell somebody something this evening that we need to be careful as to where we should be at what time because even though your home normally is a good place your home can be a wrong place if it is that you should be on the job and you are at home sleeping your home is the wrong place if it is that you want to excel to do tremendously well and you happen to be in bed sleeping late and not getting ready to go to work your home as good as it may be can be a wrong place and sometimes we end up doing forbidden things even in our very homes because we are at home when we should not be at home let me help you to understand more as to why i firmly believe that david was at the wrong place at the wrong time in 2nd samuel 11 verse 1 the battle reads and it came to pass and it came to pass after the year was expired at the time when kings go forth to battle that david sent job and his servants with him and all israel and they destroyed the children of ammon and besieged rabbah but david parrish still at jerusalem so the army of israel was on the battlefield when the king or while the king was at home the king himself should have been on the battlefield can i tell somebody something that somebody is experiencing an easy life somebody has chosen an easy path simply because he wants to enjoy life and have a great time and not focusing on his or her greater purpose could it be that you are online and you have resorted to a life of ease and comfort could it be that god has a great responsibility for you to wage a war to fight a battle to gain a victory to lead others to fulfill a bigger purpose could it be that god has an assignment for you but for some reason you are not where god has assigned it assigned you you are not where god has appointed you could it be that you're finding yourself at the wrong place at the wrong time and can i tell you even though your life may seem like you're on a trajectory of success if it is that you're not where god intends for you to be even though life may be nice and dandy and you're having a good time you still are the place where you have fallen you have fallen from god's design for your life and i submit to you that god's way will always will always yes god's way will always be the best way how could it be that you find yourself at the wrong place at the wrong time yes it was home home that should be a good and godly place a home where the king who represents the king of glory reigns and sits on his throne to carry out god's business but this home that should be a good and godly place it it was a place where he should have fulfilled his divine assignment but he was at the wrong place because he should have been at a different station the fact of the matter is that and i want you to follow me the fact of the matter is that neither david nor bathsheba was where he or she should have been it was not a good thing for bathsheba to be bathing where someone could have seen her did i say that forgive me please but it was really not a good thing for bathsheba to have left herself exposed and david should not have been at home david as i said earlier should have been on the battlefield can i submit to you my friends if you're journeying with me to observe that david sinned because he neglected his responsibility or his business whenever we fail to shoulder our responsibility or whenever we step away from or satan of duty we are inviting temptation into our lives despite the fact that david was having fun and yes he did have fun because he did send to fetch bathsheba he did get her to be with him yes he had fun but he was in a predicament because he was standing in the wrong gap can i tell somebody this evening that you may feel comfortable where you are but i submit to you that if it is that you do not have godly satisfaction godly fulfillment you were standing in the wrong gap i submit to you this evening that whatever you are doing if you are not aligning your life with the one who has the power to give you ultimate victory in this world of distress danger and discouragement if it is that you are not aligning your life with the divine plan of the almighty god the plan to prosper you and to give you peace the plan to give you an expected expected end of tremendous success if it is that you have not aligned your life with the plan of god you are standing in the wrong gap you're at the wrong place and if you're at the wrong place anything is likely to happen let's admit that god has an assignment for you yes he has an assignment for you to be your best self but you will never advance if you're at the wrong place at the wrong time there's so much that god wants to do for you but he cannot do it if you're at the wrong place it does not matter how effective you are of doing another person's job you would have failed if you do another person's duty while you neglect your very own can i tell you that standing in the gap doesn't mean that you should stand in just about any gap your gap is different from my gap and my gap is different from your gap david was standing in uriah's job david was doing uriah's job of being husband to bathsheba while he david should have been on the battlefield that was an abuse of power if you ask me today there are some people and i pray that none of you online is like that there are some of us who abuse our power we abuse our poor we take advantage of those over whom we roll rule or are those for whom we provide leadership i pray that none of us none of you my friends is abusing power so it doesn't matter how the experience and fulfilling it was with bathsheba david became a victim of passionate pursuit of personal pleasure david became a victim of passionate pursuit of personal pressure and i submit to you that this shows that sin will lead us further than we plan to go and cost us so much more that we bargained to pay i submit to you my friends that it is unfortunate that david found himself being a husband to another man's wife it is unfortunate that the king of israel would have had such a grateful it is unfortunate that david committed such not not not just such a great sin but he would eventually commit a great crime you know there is difference between sin and crime sin is simply transgressing not the sin is simple but sin is transgressing the law of god but crime is when we do not only transgress the law of god but we also transgress the law of the land so david committed a grave sin and he also committed a great s a great crime and remember i'm talking about what to do if you fall and i ask a very poignant question at this time as we reflect on david's life and how he plans and how he executes his race i ask you you my friend right in your living room you you watching on your device your phone your tablet whatever you're doing i'm speaking to you right now what or who is your bathsheba where is your focus what is your distraction what is your destruction what is your bad shiva is your bathsheba dream and corruption that the love of money is your bathsheba on faithfulness and sexual immorality pornograph pornography adultery fornication and homosexuality is your bathsheba bisexuality or bestiality what is your bathsheba is your bathsheba the love of worldly or ungodly pleasure what is your bathsheba is your bad sheba dishonesty is your bathsheba drinking is your bathsheba rebellion that is willfully transgressing the law of god is your bathsheba sabbath breaking is your bathsheba stealing what is your bathsheba is your bathsheba bearing false witness against others is your bathsheba you yourself with your pride your arrogance and a stick naked nature what is your bathsheba what is distracting you from your god what is leading you to a great fall whatever your bathsheba is you should pay attention not to bathsheba but to the plan and the way of righteousness so god the almighty he has an assignment for you but but if you pay attention to bathsheba you will not fulfill your role can i tell you that god has an assignment for you and that god wants to bless you but he will never reach you will never reach where god wants you to be if you're at the wrong station but it's not just about a fall making a mistake or failing there should be keen focus on knowing your location cannot can i talk about knowing your location because if it is that you are using even your gps on your phone or whatever device and your location is not turned on then you will not likely to find your destination so can i talk to you about knowing your location and knowing your station it could very well be that you you you are heading some place and and and you're not just falling but you are at that place and and and you just want to go where you need to go you want to go you reach your goal you want to be at a place to have fun and this time it doesn't have to be any worthly or ungodly fun you just want to go where god wants you to go and yes it could be that you are single and you you want to be at a place where you can have good godly fun with your husband or your wife it could be that you if you're really at a place where you want to get a better job it could be at a place where you just want to have a better experience in life i suggest to you that you won't get to your destination you won't get to your destination if you're at the wrong station my mind goes back to december 2009 it was my first christmas in the uk while i studied at king's college london i was invited to dinner in ilford by auntie rose so i used my phone to check how to get to my destination i reached a particular stop and i observed that at this stop or at this point on the journey i should get let's say the number six bus and i would be at my station and i i would see the number six bus passing me i think and i wondered why wouldn't the bus stop i look not one not two i i was new please do not laugh at me i was new in the uk i i didn't know much about the transportation system and and so it was after a while that i checked i observed that the bus does not stop at that station and then i looked at the map and i observed that there was another stop nearby at which the bus would stop and i was not able to make it to my destination until i changed my location until i changed my station can i talk to somebody somebody knows where i'm heading somebody's feeling what i'm feeling you're here this evening and i submit to you that there are somebody somebody there are some people some people online there is somebody yes there is somebody right here and while you are here my friends i submit to you that you will never ever be able to make it to your destination if you are at the wrong station never ever be able to make it to your destination if you're at the wrong station you'll never ever be able to make it to your destination if you're at the wrong you'll station ever be able to make it to your destination if you're at the wrong station whatever you're doing my friends whatever you're doing you will never ever be able to make it to your destination if you're at the wrong station the boss may pass you god may have a boss of blessings to lavish on you god may have a box of blessings to take you to your destination god may have a boss of blessings to meet your need but you will never ever be able to make it to your destination if you're at the wrong stage means then that for some of us we need to move if you should be on the battlefield do not stay at home god will not give you what you should get if you're at the wrong station some of us are in relationships and are heading nowhere yet we want to learn to run life's race can i tell you that sometimes we stay with people from whom we should run some of us are in relationships that are abusive and we we just are having it difficult to survive i said if you are running last race there comes a time that you need to run from that abusive relationship otherwise of us are in forbidden relationships forbidden relationship you're in a forbidden relationship yet you're waiting for the right person to come along if you're in a forbidden relationship waiting for the right person to come along the right person may be around and not even see you and you not even see that person simply because you're at the wrong station some people are at the wrong station you can't get the right boss being at the wrong station move on so we know the story of david david after he did what he did discovered that bathsheba was pregnant and he after looking at the situation considered it and then he thought to himself how do i treat this matter he said i'm the king anything i say that's what goes so he sent for uriah bathsheba's husband and and when he showed up he said i know you have been married it would be good for you to go home and have fun with your wife and then david realized that uriah uriah never had that inclination uriah said how can i do this how can i go and have fun with my wife while the ark of the covenant is not in jerusalem how can i do this when god's people are on the battlefield david at this time becomes frustrated and in an attempt to cover up his wrong he decided to give uriah strong drink and soul uriah was deceived that is he became drunk be careful you know be careful of what you drink because if you can get drunk it may lead you to do things that you would not normally do be careful of what you drink so so so uriah was drunk at this point and and when he becomes drunk my friends he's there and david believes that uriah would go would go would go in order to cover up for his sin and for some reason uriah uriah just could not do it david senses that he's now in trouble big trouble i said that sin will cost you so much more than your plan to pay and and will lead you further than you plan to go david he is in big and deep trouble what does he do the king they did the deceiver yes he tried to deceive uriah david the king david the adulterer now plots what will be old-blooded murder he writes a letter gives it to uriah and he sends it to the job and he says take uriah and send him to the hottest part of the battle that's what he says and then uriah upon receiving the letter he did as was told and and and david did not only say send him to the hottest part of the battle i want you to ensure that uriah is dead when you take him to the hottest part of the battle i want you to retrieve the soldiers who go with him so that he is left there all alone what a cruel act what a cruel act this man of power and prominence the king who should be protecting your eyes the one who devised this destruction it could be that somebody right now is planning a cover-up cover up for his action cover up for wrongdoing you you have done one thing and and so you you you just can't help but to do something there are some of us who are like david yes we end up in forbidden relations we do forbidden activities and in doing such we end up like david committing murder committing murder you may be saying how is it that i would have committed murder there are some of us who would have committed abortion that's america that's murder and and i submit to you that you would be at that place and and you might have even performed an abortion in years gone by and for some reason you can't get over your situation it could even be that you have performed an abortion and you're trying to conceive now and for some reason you're having challenge because one of the possible side effects of abortion is difficult to conceive later in life it could be that you are being haunted not just by the slips that you made but by the falls you have experienced and for some reason you being fallen is keeping you down dragging you down and you're just held back in life you can't find contentment you can't find peace you are robbed of your joy you have regrets for some of your actions and for some reason you are being held back by guilt you are chained to your past and you just can't break loose you feel that it doesn't matter how hard you try you are trying against all forces all the forces are opposing you you're pushing and even though you are achieving you feel like you're not moving simply because you have fallen simply because you have failed and for some reason you are not just under the condemnation of sin you feel like others have condemned you you yourself have condemned yourself and right now you are moving around feeling like a zombie right now you may be moving around wondering how it is that you can be relieved right now you are moving around and you're feeling hopeless and helpless right now what to do with your father david david has fallen but david you see in as much as he has fallen he doesn't even come to his senses he doesn't understand exactly what has happened in his experience until god sent him nathan the prophet and i ask you to journey with me now to second samuel chapter 12 the bible says in verse 1 onwards then the lord sent nathan to david and he came to him and said to him there were two men in one city one rich and the other poor the rich man had exceedingly many flocks and hurts but the poor man had nothing except one little yo lamb which he had bought and nourished and grew up together with him and with his children of his own food and drown from his own cup and lay in his bosom and it was like a daughter to him and the traveler came to the rich man who refused to take from his own flock and from his own earth to prepare one for one for the wayfarer fearing man who had come to him but he took the poor man's lamb and prepared it to the man who had come to him david's anger was greatly a roast against the man and he said to nathan as the lord lives the man who has done this shall surely die and shall restore fourfold for the lamb because he did this thing and because he had no pity and the bible says in verse 7 then nathan said to david you are the man thus says the lord of israel i anoint you king over israel and i delivered you from the hand of saul and then the story unfolds speaking about all the wonderful things that god did for joe for for david yet in as much as god did all of these wonderful things for david david could not be contented with what god gave him i submit to you that if you are easily dissatisfied if you cannot be satisfied with what god gives you it will lead to your downfall that's what happened to david but but as the story unfolds and nathan says to david you are the man it is then that david becomes conscious of the evil which he has done and david sensing his guilt sensing how far he has fallen did not stay on the ground david decided to get up shake upon and decide to put himself together to the extent that david wrote one of the most powerful psalms of repentance in psalm 51 the bible says these are the words of david i want to help you to understand what to do if you fall the bible says this is the word of david now have mercy upon me o god according to your loving kindness according to the multitude of your tender mercies block out my transgressions wash me thoroughly can somebody can somebody feel the dirt of sin can somebody who has fallen fallen and feeling feeling guilty at this time can somebody join david and say watch me truly wash me early from my iniquity and cleanse me cleanse me if you have fallen in sin and you're covered by the dirt and grime of evil and unrighteousness all you need to do is to go to god and say father wash me and cleanse me and the bible continues to say for i acknowledge my transgression and my sin is always before me against thee against the only have i sinned and done this evil in your sight that you may found that that me that you may be found just when you speak and and the the confession continues for i was born in sin and unshaken in iniquity in other words david said lord i came i was born a sinner i am a sinner full-fledged sinner thoroughbred sinner have mercy david had no cover-up david said god i need your help god i need your help now can i ask somebody who is online right now to come to himself to come to herself and be aware of sinfulness be aware of holiness and be like david and say lord i am standing in need of cleansing lord i am standing in need of a refreshing lord i am standing in need of a revival i pray that you will go before god like david and as he said in verse 10 create in me a clean heart oh god and renew a right spirit within me somebody has fallen and your fallenness has taken you to a place of brokenness your spirit is broken you are discouraged you just can't go on anymore but by the power of god you can get a new heart you can get a right spirit within you you can have a renewed lease on life submits to you if you will fall be like david what david did was to confess his sins we're told in first john 1 verse 9 that if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness and yes yes yes can i tell you that sin sin will not we will make you miss out on the prize because the bible says in romans 6 23 that the wages of sin is death but the gift of god is eternal life the wages of sin is death and in chapter 3 verse 23 all have sinned can i tell somebody something this evening according to the plan of the enemy we will be condemned by our sins dead in our trespasses not being able to move we would be hopeless and helpless but god intervened the god of david the god of the creation of a new heart the god of the renewal of our eyes spirit the god of washing cleansing purification the god of mercy the god of grace steps in and decided to do something new something extraordinary so can i tell somebody something that right now you may be a sinner but god has got a new name for you can i tell somebody something right now you may have a first name but your first name is it can be different from your christian name can i talk to you according to the plan of the enemy you would be a sinner and that's the first name and can i talk about your christian name somebody said that while the first name and the christian name can be one and the same that the christian name speaks about the name that one receives at baptism the the new name that one receives when he starts a new commitment and you will journey with god for example abram was changed into abraham speaking about the commitment and the promise made by god to him we know also that saul was changed to paul and yes you may be saying is it that i need to do a deep poll is it that i need to do a name change i've got good news for somebody this evening i've stopped by here to tell you that you may be falling to the ground and you may have a first name a first name that speaks about destruction a first name that speaks about danger a first name that speaks about death yes as a sinner your first name is a dangerous thing but god by the power of jesus christ has got for you a christian name your first name may be sinner but god god who does that change of name god who works can i talk to you god who works with that registry to change your first name into your christian name looks at your name and he sees you sinner cinnamon can't make it sinner fallen sinner won't finish god looks at your first name and says you need a christian name and so while you may be sinner god just put a comma beside your first name and then god adds god as save by grace you may have a first name that speaks to your holiness for you can get a christian name if you like david so you may be fallen confess and forsake your sins and so according to your first name you are doomed to death but according to your christian name you have the hope of eternal life your first name doesn't have to be your destiny your christian name has sealed your destiny for eternity being saved from this incursed earth i submit to you that if you fall all you need to do is to be like david confess and forsake your sins and see god's face sister paul it will not sing as i pray that you will be ready to receive your christian name [Music] in this quiet place with you i bow before your throne i bear relationship you're doing something that you should not be doing it could even be that at your job you know you're not satisfied because you do things which go contrary to your faith and you're saying by god's grace i want to change my location because i want you to take me to the destination that you have designed for me you need to go to the destination that god has for you for god has a grand and glorious future your future is so bright very bright god has a bright future for you you're stepping into a new future new future with the brilliance and the glory of god you're moving forward in things now your heads are bowed your eyes are closed almighty god your people come before you not because they're perfect neither of us is perfect but we know your grace is sufficient we know o great god that you who helped david who committed grievous sins to be changed even as he confessed and he forsook his sins oh great god i pray that by the power of your holy spirit you will reach out to your people because so many of us are at the wrong station at this time we are not where you want us to be and so we cannot go where you want us to go so god interrupt the plan of the enemy disturb us and help us not to be comfortable where we are but help us to keep moving to keep pressing to keep going not by our strength so lord be our strength because sometimes we're weak we falter and we fail we even follow god but i pray that you will elevate us lift us from the quagmire of sin and plant our feet on higher ground bless us oh god as we continue to trust you we continue to depend on you because there is a mother online who needs your help who needs your deliverance there's a father who is struggling a husband yes there is a young person who is discouraged in this pandemic this young person perhaps was abused abused by someone who he or she trusted somebody who is online needs you oh god somebody somebody is in a broken relationship feeling betrayed somebody right now needs you somebody may have felt abandoned and rejected forsaken by parents somebody online needs you somebody may have even experienced disappointment at the hands of church folk some church person may have daughter break every chain that holds your children today and help us that if we fall we will confess and we will forsake our sins and we know that you are the faithful and just to forgive us and to
