back to the channel people sporty spice for life she was my fave welcome back to the channel today we are gonna finally um start a new british show uh with the british theme a lot of people have requested this and i thought it was a brilliant request once again i've seen the show this young lady has not but i haven't seen it obviously when it first came out it came out like i'm gonna guess about 10 years ago which probably at the same time as the in-betweeners okay um brilliant tv show and it's called idiot abroad i'm gonna quickly as quick as i can explain who carl pilkinson is and what this is about carl carl pilkinson are you saying carl carl carl carl pilkington okay um don't be a dick okay carl wilkinson long story short uh ricky gervais who we are massive fans of yes you know ricky gervais love ricky gervais of course we love ricky and everything that he does so back in the day way back in the day way before you would have heard of ricky gervais i actually remember this is well now we're going to go back 20 years ago ricochet face was a uh on a radio station um that what was the name of the radio station i can't remember there's a radio station that was one of those like um like edgy kind of you know how like sirius xm over here is kind of edgy and you can swear and he was on one of those right him and stephen merchant remember steven merchant is the guy that wrote the office with him the tall skinny guy that wrote the office also hilarious also genius by the way doesn't get the credit um as much as he should because ricky gervais was kind of the driving force of all their success but also a genius the two of them were on the radio station and uh obviously at this point they were like big stars this is after the office or whatever and so um they had a producer you know producer on the show producers just there to press the buttons and whatever right make sure the sounds all right put you know whatever track they say play they play the track turns out the producer they got was one in a billion this character okay okay either he's a genius that says things moronically or he's a [ __ ] that says things in a genius way i'm not sure which one it is it might be a bit of both he is brilliantly as british as it [ __ ] gets which is good for this channel as well it kind of like really i mean some of it you're really going to be like he is one of those that like is untouched by society in a weird way like really has like he's absolutely harmless harmless human being but some of the things he says you're just like [ __ ] that makes that makes loads of sense right but the way he kind of says it like it's so hard to kind of explain him until you've watched him but he's a really odd character i actually think he might have some sort of level of maybe like autism or asperger's i'm sure he does right because he doesn't really laugh and he doesn't but he is uh not a character he's a real human being right but so brilliantly funny but unintentionally brilliant okay he's not trying to be funny this is just dry he's this is just who he is long story short he's one of those that like doesn't go on vacation doesn't like leave in the uk because he likes he just likes you know egg and chips on a friday beans on toast on a saturday one of these kind of people yeah and when he does go on vacation it's only to like spain like where all the brits go holiday like it very you know what i mean like not good out of his comfort zone so they decide to send them around the world um to all the seven wonders of the world okay so you're gonna see each one of the world and him explaining what you think i mean and it's really it's so good and it's not like it's unfiltered it's uncensored it's not like you know people go this is the great wall of china it's so phenomenal the architecture he gets there and he's just like you've just gone don't give it away i don't want to give it away first episode is china it's the great wall of china okay just watch i want to try and keep you on track with the pure richness and the pure brilliance of kalpa i'm excited let's watch the seven wonders of the world christ the redeemer the challenge mahal the great pyramids the show is so good truly man's greatest achievements but there's one man who sees them differently if that was on my road the council would be on it they go get that down it's a death trap the council like the local authorities yeah you talk about the pyramids if that was on my local the long story get that down that's that's a death trap that's that's not safe ricky's your vases laugh is my favorite thing in the world it's one of the best i love it so much and he makes i think he probably makes ricky laugh more than anybody else in the world really yeah like ricky laughs from him shall i say more than anybody else it's like a pylon [Laughter] i don't know the politically correct term [ __ ] i think he is a round empty headed chimp like [ __ ] we've often described him as being like some kind of real life homer simpson homer is small-minded petty but at his core a good person and lovable absolutely lovable it's like a game of jenga that's got out of hand and he doesn't like going out of his comfort zone it'd be amazing to send him around the world what we'd like to see is him experience other cultures other peoples and see if in any way we can change his outlook on the world i've been to many exotic places i genuinely think travel broadens the mind i want him to hate it to hate every minute of it for my own amusement and he does nothing is funnier [Music] in a corner being poked by a stick i am that stick and now i have the mic of sky behind me sky is a big channel in the uk kind of like fox they're the ones who like uh you know funded this whole thing yeah yeah this is one of the funniest most expensive practical jokes i've ever done and it's going to be great [Music] jesus christ [Music] i want to throw in there as well he thought the show was going to be called um carl and the seven wonders of the world and then he saw the he saw it and he was fuming so funny they just [ __ ] with him right yeah look at him yeah look at his face what are we doing today standing around you look nervous you look uneasy i am a bit yeah it's not normal is it what what is it you're asking me army day isn't room full of people yeah well you're gonna get to know them you're going to get to know them really well well everywhere i go these lot are coming are they yeah well they've got oh they've got to film it otherwise you'd be by yourself and we wouldn't see it on the telly right carl i'm very jealous of your trip do you love them already to the mighty great wall of china will you say that about how come i'm going and you're not doing any well because um we're executive producers yeah we're busy we've got other stuff going on so out of all the places this is the place that i'm worried about the most why just the way they live they're different chinese people you just wreck everything they make everything weird that's what i'm worried everything about why is it orange in chinatown just a slice thing the chicken is orange eat anything you know what i mean octopus toad he just made that one out so you say if i go over there i have a bit of toad oh god you know what it's quite nice that it's nice and chicken yeah it's gonna be pretty tough to get a bit of grill toad yeah in this country it could make me sort of wish for stuff that i could no longer get older have you been listening to what he's been saying there yeah that he's scared to go to china in case he gets a taste for tonight so i just want to check that you heard that yeah the way they're right the letters are weird their alphabet's not like ours there's like like someone testing out a biro everything's there's no logic to anything that they do they read a book it's all the other way around from back to front instead from front to back and up and down and everything that we've done they've gone right we're going to do it weirder that's how it comes across well some would say that they did it first their civilization beat ours by by many many hundreds of years but anyway right off you go i love see when you get back space doesn't change space doesn't change is today a cloudy day or is this pollution it's not worth having this in hd is it nothing looks crisp everything's sort of hazy some sort of kate bush video or something but i also feel like can anyone speak english i also feel like he's the type of person that just says what everyone else is thinking right but he just has no filter so he just said like things that i would think and just be like china is a bit weird and like well i wasn't gonna i'm not saying that i am why why is a chicken already i mean that's such a good point i mean it's just like stuff that you wouldn't think of but then when he says that you're like wait actually wait what yeah that's true that'll happen a lot in this episode you know i get off a plane all sort of aching that jet lagged i thought i know i'll have a massage that'll be nice massage hi i'm never going to get to where i'm going i haven't been to bed yet it is nice though to be fair that isn't that isn't good i mean what was that a massage i don't know or was it just being mugged i'm just trying to find the hotel that ricky and steve has sorted out for me um i'm not expecting that much if i'm honest with you i've got a room pilkington nice and i remember on purpose that they [ __ ] with him they don't put him in like you know the hilton whatever they put him in the middle of like china like literally [ __ ] knows where right it's compact in it it's cozy feels chinese yeah those slippers they're mine quite chinese aren't they yeah you have a tv any english no only chinese okay thanks to thanks i like this touch suzanne wants a fish so i'll laugh suzanne's girlfriend i mean that is for sort of company you know it's not it's not some sort of appetizer that is it that's handy you know i said that chinese always come up with inventions quite futuristic with their ideas it's all right little radio with headlights i don't know when you need that i mean the whole beauty of radio is you know you can listen to it in the dark i mean if that was on the dragon's den you'd say i'm out weren't you shark tank is that what dragons did okay that was on shark tank oh okay okay i'm just gonna go and have a wonder about i think because there's nothing else to do so um you know that's what rick and steve want in it they want to see how i can handle myself with some foreigners carl cat no no it's not car it's cold frustrated yeah it smells more chinese now in chinese well the idea was you know that i'd nip out and get a little snack because ricky and steve said yeah try everything out you know do what the locals do but there's no way i'm eating this stuff i don't i don't um i don't like to judge other countries with what they eat and stuff because it's just culturally what they do but i will say from some of the stuff that i've seen that like the chinese culture eats like mental like look at that well he's like bugs and stuff here's a thing this is i've never been there though so they're obviously going to exaggerate it's going to say this is tv so i wonder if this is like the like again like the butthole like not the norm of what people would like there's like a teeny town in china where like people are a bit you know because i have learned until you've been somewhere you don't actually know like what right and what it's depicted as i mean this is obviously a real market i'm just wondering is is there even chinese people that are kind of like because obviously i've got my arab side and this stuff that like even from our that i wouldn't you know the city you would need yeah yeah like you know like in libya we love like eating like there's some people like eating camel camels not for me but a bit in a tv show if they went to libby they'd be like oh yeah camels are normal day but even so okay but even so like i mean i wouldn't eat camel to me i wouldn't i don't think that would ever do that but i've seen videos again i'm sure it's exaggerated on social media and stuff but i've seen videos of like like um i don't even know if they're chinese and i'm gonna sound like super uneducated but you can tell there's some type of asian culture and they're eating like like octopus live and like eels live and stuff but like i don't know why what's the point i think kyle's gonna break it down for us carl's gonna come on carl make sense of it for us gal just looks like they've got custard creams on the stick as well at the end just anything on the stick whatever you want on a stick look at that scorpion a lizard i think so i don't understand why they're eating all this i mean at home restaurants will get closed down for having a cockroach in the kitchen yeah here he's a starter i didn't know it'd be like this i didn't think it'd be this mental really in the food department there's a woman over there just tucking in on her oh my god just scorpions okay like she's just having like a bit of a chicken leg not a problem just just shoving him in the face she looks at it before she puts it in her mouth oh yeah which bit will they have first the head of the arts i mean she's eating one off one stick she's looking at the other sticks she can't get enough of them all right it's like the doughnuts to her she's looking and she's going oh look at that one there that one looks nice it's gonna commentate you see i don't know where it stops where's the line between food and insect right she gets up in the morning there's a spider in the bath what does she do oh good i'll leave the croissant for tomorrow a fetus i don't know why any just for people watching you don't know he's with us you know helping drive the boston what have you he seems like a normal bloke i've been eating a fetus not even waiting for the thing to be born and to live a bit and then eat it i'm in a fetus it's eating a bag of chips i've only been here for a bit i'm running out of these i've got three more packets left well you know the weird thing is i'm i'm the freak here aren't i everyone else is eating that i'm eating these i'm the odd one out i've got a mate hi uh got a little trip for you today strange the weird esoteric and obviously one of the big parts of chinese culture is fortune telling so we've arranged for you to go and see a fortune teller get some predictions about your future my friend all right enjoy what you should know about carl is obsessed with anything kind of freaky so as soon as somebody's got two heads or anything like totally abnormal he is absolutely in his element and he's going to weird obsession with monkeys i don't know what that's about i have got a bit of a problem with this and they have sent me it of this dumb i'm not happy about it really i sort of think i'm better off not knowing if something's bad's gonna happen i prefer it just to happen without having a warning time time i was born pile i didn't expect him to have a palm pilot futuristic do you know who bruce springsteen is he's got the same birth date as me i don't know what you're talking about i'm concentrating on calculating your future all right with this palm pilot you have to pay attention to your health because you've got some sort of heart problem oh here we go look at his face what sort of heart problem something to do with your heart blood vessel it's weird that because my dad had a problem with his art and they say it runs in the family so is he going to kill me then 90 percent but maybe we can change it although you have some health problem we're gonna do a ceremony for you but you do need to write a confession about what you did wrong something i did wrong something i did wrong in the past good one [Music] you need to write three confessions on those three pieces of paper all right three confessions when i lived in the other flat there was a fellow used to live in it called bruce and he used to get his post and i'd open it it was his old flat i kept getting posts for him yeah he's meant to be bad but carl grimshaw i put putty in his hair and he had to have his head shaved that's a bit tight wasn't it and he had a funny shaped head so it looked really bad i'll put that down cargo shower for putting putty and he's uh i worked at this bloke shop called bob i was his best paper boy so i'd collate all my papers get them all get them all ready stick them in me bag when he wasn't looking i just sort of tuck a mars bar slip up my sleeve off we go so every day seven a week for about two years a lot of mars bars i know that that's why it's on here it's always been playing on my mind that [Music] you are kidding me have you seen this things there's no doors or anything as soon as you open the game just get a full view of someone i mean if it was here it's more understandable than it because you'd be sat here and at least people come in and you've got to go i'm in this one it's a bit weird to just sort of wander in and that is weird i mean they've made this bit why don't i just finish it off and put a door on it they've done the hard bit a couple of hinges on the door and there's no toilet paper what did they do it did you just pull up the pants and walk off is that is that is that what you do that must be only for piss and chewing it yeah i guess not right if that's not what they do that's not what they do but it's just i didn't know that i didn't think china was gonna be like this i thought it was gonna be more like i said i thought it was where they've made the ipod i think i've got the wrong place because this this ain't a place where they need an ipod toilet roll first it's weird because whenever you buy stuff like that toilet roll worlds and stuff it says made in china why aren't they [ __ ] using them then that's all didn't it she's got to leave the house he's got to go do i feel like one today i might do i've had a bit of a dicky belly i best get my seat everyone who's is walking past knows he's gonna have a [ __ ] at some point foreign [Music] i mean this woman's friendly enough but she's even she's sort of blanking me now here's one thing i do know about chinese culture and this is going to come across not good but i don't care is when it comes to like normal bodily fluids far in spitting in particular whatever they're quite comfortable doing that in open even in dolls like spitting i've actually seen it in real life so this is real the fact that she's like on the floor yeah the fact that she's got a bag and she's just spitting in it i don't even think that's for tv i think that's something that's relatively normal over there which is terrifying yeah i mean it's the culture i guess i guess the fella behind me is coughing his guts up i thought i was putting on a waterproof coat in case it rained i need it just for on this bus [Music] why did he do that there's the wall i can't see now anyway so it'll be a surprise for me how long does it take to get there [Music] i wonder the world [Music] look at everyone pushing and shoving it would just be like a cattle market wouldn't it this is it then it was heavily restored in both the 1950s and 1980s i didn't know that not even old bricks am i missing something here so the old stuff's gone on it really and then it doesn't count it shouldn't be a wonder then it's true though can't just build something on it and still you know get all the tourists when it's not what it says on the tin what i'm looking at is basically a wimpy home and i don't even know how long that would be i mean look at it yeah i'm just just a bit annoyed today because you know i thought i'd seen the great wall of china which being honest with you it's not the great wall it's an all-right one it's it's look at anyway the only reason i've come to this bit of the wall is because steve said that there's a little village close by and you know he knows someone who's going to sort me some dinner out um just just just a little little bit a little bit just gonna feed it big oh full well they seem like nice people i mean i can tell that just uh even though i can't speak their language and stuff got some food for me it's nice but it's just a bit awkward if it's something i don't like in it because i can't you know you can have you can use your hands to say certain things but what can you do if it's something i don't like i can't sort of make a lie up what is that what is that right forget it forget it it's [ __ ] massive toads yeah it's toads in a carrier bag i looked at the wrong time i didn't really want to look but when i turned around it looked like she was having a wrestle with one and i heard like so i'm guessing the toad wasn't winning and i've been told it tastes like chicken sausage just eat it and think yeah it's chicken it's chicken just nice chicken why did she have to cave it's heading out here why don't you just do it normal why don't you say to him no okay all right bring carl around cook him something yeah yeah of course you can yeah what does he like to eat do you like toad just surely i mean i know you don't know me that well but you know me enough that i've them get the socks off starts in it you are having a laugh oh come on [Music] [Music] what is she doing what is she doing i've seen massages on the telly you don't normally have to have a fire extinguisher on standby when you're on the [ __ ] side of it what is this doing traditional choice it's on fire why tell me why though why is this traditional chinese massage he's so frustrated well it doesn't relax me so what does it do why is she setting fire to me what good is it doing me don't just stand there saying it's traditional it's traditional it's what they do here it's a delicacy what is she doing associated with having a massage i can feel it i might as well walk in there ah i've been greeted by edward scissorhands right i felt like put it out put it out please it's not a good sort of combination though really having something done like that with a woman who can't understand me this leg's fine teller this leg is is great this leg phenomenal i've gotta get rid of there's an old chinese proverb by this mao fella that says a toad in a well only gets to see some of the sky and if the toad came up you'd see more of the world which you know is a bit like me in a way i've i've seen more of the world just from doing this i don't know if it's made me a better person or not but he's saying it is he's saying if you get out of the well and see the bigger picture it's good for you but i'd say it isn't and the thing is it's not even worth getting out and seeing more sky here because of all the pollution and definitely if you're a toad i won't get out of any old way because they'll grab you and cut your head off and eat brilliant so good so welcome to the world of carl pilkenton what do we think of carl first of all he's so funny but now that i give a good because he's not trying to be funny did i give a good genuine face yeah that's genuinely funny yeah he's um just like in fairness to him because you know you see all these like travel shows and whatever um and they always like you know it's always it always looks kind of like you know we went to china and we did the like he's given it exactly how it is i get they probably put them in some shitholes i'm sure there are parts of china that are absolutely beautiful and i'm sure you know what i mean i'm sure weirdly there was one like you know how i want to travel the world and stuff i've got to be honest it's like it's not one that i like not even like anything like you know like bad or personal it's just not somewhere that i'm interested in but the wall of china for sure i know i wouldn't enjoy because as he said it is the all-right wall the chopper yeah it's not the great wall right and i don't really the only thing that uh actually i just wrote while we were watching it is i don't even know the real actual history of the great wall of china or why it was built or whatever it feels like it was some kind of protection of some kind of like you know to divide i thought the great wall of china was to divide i guess i guess i'll have to read up on it but um either way as you said one guy selling hot dogs [ __ ] bears in the mid like it just it wouldn't be something i'd be interested to go see no but um so that was episode one okay there's others where there's i can remember i mean china is one of the good ones but we're gonna watch the whole series i think it's like five or six episodes well actually no if it's seven wonders you'll probably be seven episodes you'll be seeing all seven but good old carl he's brilliant um he is funny so we'll continue with that
