yo what's up guys thought i would do a great sword guide since the old guys i have a pretty outdated and the way you play the weapons pretty much changed uh completely they buffed the weapon a little bit to where this is consistent now so the combo game also changed completely so i'm gonna go over a lot of things today all right so after if there's three important combos you're probably going to need to know uh enlight d light and light unjumpable if you get their dodge it'll work um this tile you also read people who don't dodge so if you hit like this for example you can go into that um a lot of people don't dodge on greysword so you gotta just be able to go into that if you go into the end light ender at the end like that it's like a very little recovery frame so you can like jump and then dodge out of the way uh whereas if you do a night delight side light it can become jumpable depending on how it hits and it also leaves you in a lot of recovery if they dodge it so um it's for earlier killing but it's used um when they're not going to be able to jump out of it so if you hit it on the ground you should be good if you hit the end light at the top it'll probably end up being jumpable so you have to finish with the end light under instead and then now sidelight end light works right so satellite and light side light is all unjumpable and this kills decently so if you catch their dodge you can do side light and light side light and then as well as if you for example were to read their dodge now um this also allows for things like this for way bigger combos right um so pretty sword can actually keep up in damage now uh that used to drop before but now the combos actually work most of the time before we get into the combo game and the reads and things though i want to go over the neutral and like the buttons and things like that so basically um you're going to start with the grounded moves you have side light you have end light and you have delight right n light is perfect for catching landings catching people out of the air when they have no jumps um and if they're dodging like in the air like let's say dodge around you you can catch them and then get a full combo out of it right so that's what you would use enlight for side light it goes a little farther so like if you dash side light it has a better chance of hitting the dash n light if they're far away um and now since it is consistent it's a pretty good option to go into enlight after since most people don't dodge on greysword like you can you can sidelight enlighten and go to read out of that since most people won't dodge the satellite online and then you have delights d-lite goes the farthest um it's good for calling out people who run or good for like mixing up in neutral if they stay really grounded you can dash and do like delight randomly but mostly i use it for if i'm sure i won't get punished for it i'll throw it out or if i'm sure they're gonna run like let's say i'm pressuring and then they run to the corner when i see them running to the corner then i'll dash delay all right you got the aerials like nair um this is a really good ant tire tool it's really fast has very little recovery and you can drift um so this is really good if they're floating like right above you like like you're right above the end light right like if they're sitting in front of headlight you can just blow them down with that light but if they're sitting a little bit higher you can just jump there and if it misses drift away right and then there it's like super unpunishable as well you can drift like backwards after it misses you can do recovery after you can cover yourself really well so dare is really good for a couple of things um it's good for covering yourself on with like let's say you miss sunlight and then you can jump there and then drift away if the drift is uh they're actually hits you can go into a combo obviously go go for like recovery if you know they won't dodge or narrow you know they won't dodge if they are dodging depending on where they go you can get a combo as well if they go down you can get the full combo if they go up you just have to hit like an air and then follow them and do stuff from there all right so you also have side air side air is also pretty unpunishable like you can be punished for this one but um it's also pretty unpunishable you can cover yourself with it i really only use it for a couple of things i call out jumps in neutral like if i pressure someone and they jump i can jump stare to punish that and then if i hit them like with that like d light up the stage where i can't finish the combo if i know they'll jump i can jump there to cover that um i don't really use it very very much besides that though you can use it to read cross-ups like this but uh i just like to dash online so i wouldn't really do that and then the other aerial would be recovery i guess um recovery is pretty good i mostly use recovery to follow up off of an air or wrap of dare and then i use it on like if i dare i can cover myself with recovery into another dare in neutral things like that um i don't use it as much as other moves i just use it for combo game and like covering myself i don't really use it in neutral because i just think like nair is better it kills earlier and sets up better in my opinion and then i guess ground pound uh it's pretty obvious you can use it off stage i think there's better unless you have like a good like like you know the ground pound's going to hit right like maybe their options are gone you can ground pound them but i just use mostly dare though uh you can go from there with another dare maybe into a weapon throw or something but um off stage i really don't use ground pound very optional to confirm all right so next um i'm just gonna go over how to cover yourself because there's like four different things you can do on whiff so covering your whiff is like really important with this weapon and if you can't cover yourself properly you're just gonna lose so let's say you miss um if you just wait until you're out of recovery it's going to take forever so you can attack out of it which is probably not a good idea because that's just going to get you punished so what i like to do is if they're right next to me i'll spot dodge their attack and then i'll punish them like that if they are reading the spot dodge you have to be careful because then they get a full combo because you just use your dodge so then you can like dash into them with an attack you can jump there you can jump dodge you have you have a couple of ways to cover yourself you want to mix it up and keep on like guessing spot that is really good until they catch on to it though it's one of the ones i use the most jump there is also really good and most people don't dodge out it there so you can just do like narrow recovery and they do start dodging if they're dodging down you get the full combo um but yeah so you want to learn to like let's say you miss an attack and you see him coming for a punish if you can react in time you can spot dodge and punish if they are waiting for your spot dodge you can just hit them so you want to mix it up make sure they're like guessing what you're gonna do next also great sword has a really good weapon throw hitbox right so like it's got a perfect hitbox for a string weapon like it hits like really high up um and it covers a good area so you can use weapon throw in neutral and then read off of it like a lot of people just dodge it off weapon throw right so if you set the bot to dodge in you'll see like racehorse can cover that really easily yeah um so definitely learn to use weapon throw correctly with greysword because people will waste their dodge terribly against you after they get weapon thrown and it's got like a really good hitbox for easily hitting it and with spray sword it sucks landing on the ground you don't have a good landing option so you're going to want to be able to weapon throw down and do something off of it you know all right so as far as combo game goes with this weapon a lot of things are going to be on reaction if i sidelight and dash at them i have a way better chance of reacting to a dodge if they actually dodge um the problem is that they wake up but if you dash it's pretty easy to react off of it like you can easily get like your combos up like dashing so reacting to cobblestone racer is pretty big the thing is when they stop dodging you have to just start going into your attacks right so maybe they let you hit them once extra and then they dodge so you would like side light and light and then you would wait and react right if they're not dodging at all you just do the combo but um you got to pay attention if they're waking up and not dodging um so i can do this and then maybe they dodge in so i would go like i got to get my full combo right um it's very important to pay attention to that though because that's the whole thing with raceward is the counter play is to mix up uh once you get hit correctly so you have to learn to counter that with covering your wake ups like it's really hard but that's how it is that's how the weapon just is so combo game though uh you have it's really simple you side light there's a 50 50 outside it's not really a 50 50 but basically because all it doesn't cover is spot dodge so side light chase dodge turn around on light or side light chase dodge end light and if they dodge this cover is all but spot dodge if you know they're going to spot dodge you can wait their spot dodge out and do this right so you get a huge combo if they're spot up if they are dodging any other way for example to the right this is the combo you would get if you catch them in the air you might have to do this depending on how the end light takes them um and if you want bigger combos you can hard read it like this like but it's um it's definitely a lot easier to just do enlight to read it as you look like even there like you can read and dodge with the the turnaround inlet and then go into the combo and then if they go away you can read it with the torch on that light so spot dodge is the main one you'll have to worry about you can just sidelight them though and now since it's consistent it's perfect before it was a little hard to because like you would just do this and then you'd have to end light it and it's just not worth the risk it was before but now since you actually have a confirm off of side light it's pretty good um this is the combo you would do officially oops dropped it and that could change depending on where you hid it right so if the bot was over here where it would take it off the edge like this as you can see i wouldn't have gotten my full combo right here right so you can just do this um or you could go for more of a read maybe go for a read on them off stage or whatever but it is just like most consistent to do this because if you if you go for the read there's a chance that you get punished like the read off of this there's a chance to get punished right especially being taken off stage that would be really bad like right there if he jumps it doesn't hit right there and that could like end really badly since greysword coming up kind of sucks but uh reacting on it gets a little harder off of end light right so um when you enlighten them and then you're gonna have to start like hitting them with narrows when they go up right like and you have to pay attention because if they land on the ground they're gonna get their dodge back quick so you have to know like maybe i get two hits and then got to read them again things like that but if if they stay towards the ground it's pretty easy to read still it's when they start like going upwards right so if it goes up and right for example when you enlighten it you can dash online if you hard call it out and when i say how you call it out you have to do it instantly but if you're doing it off reaction you're gonna like dash towards them and be like okay i can do an error here and then you comb off it like that right so like maybe something like that um you aren't really guaranteed anything out of enlight or out of there but you just have to kind of react once you get good at reacting with gray sword your combo game will get really good off of dare i do suggest you just do enlight after dare until they start dodging um this is something most people don't dodge and then you can just react off of that right and then since you know how to react off of enlightened side light if you've hit downlight enlight it's pretty much the same thing it's like the same enlightened basically um so you just downlight enlight and then you can dash towards them chase that towards them or whatever and then react from there the thing about dashing towards them is it leaves you open to wake up if they wake up with an attack so the way to cover that would be chase dodge right um this makes it impossible to react basically like if you chase dodge you might get a reaction but it's way harder because if i if i dash i can turn around instantly and like dash towards them again i can just like follow them a lot easier but chase dodge forces me to move all the way over and it's also less committal because if you dash into them and they wake up with a button then you're definitely getting punished right like if i sat light dash and i don't press a button i get punished guaranteed but it's also easier to react to so you got to mix it up like condition them not to wake up start hitting them with like side light and light dash end light satellite at night side light whatever make them not want to wake up and then once they're scared to wake up that's when you would start like reacting right following and things like that alright so killing the prey sword obviously you have like the combos um but if you aren't hitting those combos it's going to be really hard to kill um you have a few options for killing if people aren't dodging your move out of end light you can do enlight um instant unlike cancel will be really good for catching like people who don't dodge because it's probably pretty hard to kill someone who jumps out of this and then like after the delight that they dodge it's a lot harder so when they're at like the black health just on light on life if they aren't dodging and then depending on your character you can sig like your cigs are really good side light down so you got mako side light and sig things like that um and then if they're jumping around you can get decent kills within there it doesn't kill very early but i mean it's better than nothing like if i set him to jump like it's not going to kill like insanely early but it's better than nothing right like and they're in recovery let's see what helps to kill out so yeah it's probably gonna kill around 180 i'm like a low defense character at 190. so that's definitely not how you want to kill um if you have to then whatever you know but you're looking for like a combo to kill probably around uh you start the combo at like 120 it should kill and you can get an early kill like that if you want an easier time killing because it is pretty hard to get kills um probably play junior magyar because both those characters secondary weapons are very good to kill with all right so offstage was greysword basically you have dare from there you can do another dare instantly or you can jump there and if you jump there it should catch the jump and the dodge up and if you dare instantly it catches them doing nothing out of the first air right once they're in about like light to dark orange after you dare you can go for like a weapons or like jump down weapons or and then if they dodge the weapon throw you can dare them unarmed it's almost guaranteed if they dodge through the weapon zone and then if the weapon throw hits them it's like an egg drop right you throw it down pick it up and dare him again so offstage is pretty simple with greysword is just lining up your dares taking their options and then confirming them on armed a lot of the times so some other things to note would be like the tech where you can cancel recovery frames a little quicker to do like another attack for example enlightened to turn around side light or d light in to turn around satellite but these are if you don't know how to do it i have a video on that as well it's like eraser tech you need to know or something it's really short and i explain how to do it there's also one about like canceling your um starter into another starter but that one seems less useful to me um but this one is definitely good to know how to cancel your frames from end light and dlight you can use them as baits like you can delay past someone on purpose and then turn around with the side light and if the sidelight misses you can cover yourself with something else um other than that i think it's pretty important to know how to bait with greatsword make them think they can punish you and then back off and punish them so for example dare drift away they miss the punish you punish them or for example cider jump away dare into recovery and to dare jump away things like that people just think they can punish greysword when it honestly doesn't have that many like any recovery frames on the aerials right like all the aerials can be baited with really well and then the grounded moves can be covered decently like it's very risky on the spot dots but most people won't cover that like there's very few people who can play the match up correctly enough to even deal with that so you don't have to worry about that if you're not even at pro level to be honest um and greysword is honestly just a really hard weapon it's probably the hardest weapon in the game by a lot um if you are looking to put time into it it's not going to come instantly yeah that's gonna be the end of the video guys if you have any questions let me know in the comments i'd be looking in the comments pretty often so if i didn't answer anything you were looking to learn just let me know um yeah peace guys
