disposal and then there's this guy as you may have heard we've become the target of a crazy disinformation campaign accusing us a group of jewish turkish pakistani and cuban friends of being super secret neo-nazis so even though the adl which exists to protect jewish people around the world hasn't confirmed this to be true trolls are still spreading ridiculous conspiracy theories online and using them to sell knock-off nfts holy [ __ ] so this is like this is a whole this is a whole situation yeah this is a new trial for me to watch i'm excited uh you can be racist regardless of your race yes but you have to admit that it's less likely for people to be racist if they're jews right if racist like nazi people it's it's less likely for people to be jews and also nazis than just to be these and didn't think anybody would catch on i think that so this is something that i used to do with uh ninja looting is i would tell people as a joke that i was gonna ninjalude all the gear and then there were some people who were like actually trying to take it serious and one of my favorite things to do was to turn the people who knew that i was lying into the enemy for the rest of the like the research in january when it when it launched yeah i just saw it like circulating on twitter um i started to dig more into it like end of march and it took me about two and a half three months to finally finish it holy [ __ ] [ __ ] that is incredible were there parts of it that you didn't add into the video oh yeah [Laughter] i mean there's always going to be like the decision to keep things in or take them out because um some points can be perceived as a reach more than others others are just redundant so it was really kind of a struggle towards the end to decide what the final draft is going to look like but right yeah what's been the response ever since you released the video how do you feel about how the community has responded to it to be honest i know this may sound like a little weird but i know i'm a youtuber but i've never really had like this level of exposure just off the bat of a video so i was a little anxious at first but the overwhelming majority of people are really one supportive of just the sheer work that like went into that video because it's not an easy feat to make something like that um then obviously whenever whenever you go against the grain or in any way you're gonna ruffle some feathers so there's people in the crypto and nft community that come up with a bunch of uh reasons as to why i would make a video like this uh that like i have an uh economic incentive for this meanwhile like i have proof that the video is demonetized uh there's a copyright claim on the video because of the hitler meme at the end i'm not connected to like ryder rips's project in any way shape or form other than the fact that like i have one but um that's really it are you connected to any other nft projects no shot okay so yeah no what do you how do you feel about nfts in general uh i kind of hate them why uh just the culture i mean i've made videos on gary vee uh logan paul oh like i'm not sure if you if you're familiar with like my other work but um i will be after this yeah i kind of like doing deep dives and exposing um just celebrity culture and what they're doing and you know pulling the strings behind the scenes and the crypto space in nft it's just there's way too much like negatives uh there's too much negativity and downside like i don't really see the utility in any of this i know that utility is something that people in the crypto space like cling on to and they always go to like oh but you know you can have a concert ticket but like we already have never been able to figure out like i mean we've had this huge problem it's been a national problem we can't figure out concert tickets right yeah yeah um i will say though doing a lot of the research in this i kind of have a more open mind with nfts but i don't plan on ever having like my own project or investing heavily at all into anything and uh speaking of investing heavily into other things is like you saw some of these people these celebrities we're talking about snoop dogg we're talking about some serious popular people that are getting these nfts and your assertion is that they receive these probably for free based off of the uh the call that you had showed on the on the video with the guy and they were almost trying to push the nft on him is that right right so how many of these other celebrities do you have any information do you feel like they probably also received them for free i can't say definitively like who got them for free or you know how much they paid for them or what was done for them to get them but i just thought it was interesting that that video surfaced and it pointed to the fact that ndas could be involved which is really sketchy because ndas are used oftentimes as like a cop-out to protect a lot of celebrities and influencers where they think that like you know if you make somebody sign an nda then they're not responsible for anything that goes on well ndas are void if the illegal activity is going on so it's just like there's it's a whole veil of smoke and mirrors that kind of get it's almost like why are you even talking about this if this is something that you're trying to do above the table okay yeah i think that makes sense yeah i mean i've seen this pop off i've been seeing big celebrities getting involved in this and the next thing is like i think we can pretty much assume that people like post malone and stupnog they're not in on all of this symbolism and ideology where do you think the line is drawn between people who are in on it and effectively uh useful idiots i feel like a lot of celebrities are just useful idiots you know they're probably in circles insulated circles around each other telling each other about um how much money they're making with nfts or how much exposure they're getting but i think the real like in the know people of the esoteric racism would be people on 4chan and deep in the crypto space like you saw in the sales activity tab of openc like with the 88s and the 14 yes yeah like you can't make that up you can go and check right now yeah have you uh have you had any contact at all with any of the people from the bordeap yacht club community that have maybe like talked about their experience in it or anything similar to that there's just like a war on twitter between board a piano club people and people that have watched my documentary that support it but i haven't talked to anyone directly from them though so hugo labs is suing you not me that's a misconception who are they suing ryder rips well yeah and as of right now it's uh i mean the document is public i'm not saying anything that like yeah yeah would reveal anything but as of right now i'm not listed in the document um i mean i don't know what they would come at me for like other people have made videos on this in the past like tabernacle and upper echelon gamers the only difference was i actually got an interview with ryder ribs and that's something that nobody has done before but um yeah i mean i hope not are you worried about any sort of like uh repercussions retaliation from any of these guys in the sense that they are powerful and they have a lot of money and i'm a 24 year old youtuber like yeah it's a dave and goliath situation absolutely but um i kind of have faith in i shouldn't say the internet as a whole but a lot of times when i see instances like this like i wouldn't doubt my supporters or anyone that actually like has this stuff sees the stuff with an open mind that would like see what like just what what is possible with my video i don't really know how to why i did i i looked at it and i did a poll whenever i saw how long it was and how expansive it was going to be i did a poll with my audience at the beginning and i asked them you know going into it how many of you guys are believing this and it was like something like 70 30 somewhere around there and then by the end of it it was like 75 25 the other way and 75 percent of people thought that it was a legitimate thing so i feel like you've convinced a whole lot of people i mean at this point probably collectively between everybody who's seen it like over a million people now yeah i saw xqc react to it uh h3 talked about it on two episodes um i know critical reacted to it uh jimmy fallon changed his profile picture really yeah away from the nft i'm assuming yep isn't that interesting apparently travis barker meek mill did too but i'm just not sure on the exact timeline of when they changed it but people have noticed like the eight pictures just disappearing so do you think that this is going to have a a real like actual effect on the nft project i think it's raising a lot of awareness and that's kind of what that's that's the entire point of this video it's just to raise awareness um have any i think that oh it's sorry about that i just think that is something of value in general it's having a lot of people have like one a lot of discourse and two there's like open discussions about you know because there's a lot of talk about like the legality the copyright law the intellectual property regarding this quote-unquote art or um nft projects and it's just very murky and there's no regulation and you know the very sentiment of nfts are supposed to be decentralized but what we're seeing is that that's kind of not the case because you have billion dollar companies asking for rectification based on you know in their words an internet troll but well that's the same thing that happened with seth green you know he was trying to get his nft back and it got uh kidnapped according to him and uh my understanding is he had to pay a quarter mill to get it back jesus yeah well anyway uh has any of the people like anybody from yugo labs any of the founders of the board apiac club project have any of them tried to reach out to you in any way no not at all okay nope so they haven't tried to ask you to take down the video or anything nothing so what do you think is going to happen next oh i have no idea that's kind of why i'm anxious yeah yeah it's certainly something to uh to worry about for sure and uh i guess one thing is that there are still those 20 people that do remain unconvinced and for the people that watch the video and are still unconvinced what would you want to tell them i would just tell them to educate themselves on esoteric culture like it took a lot out of me mentally it was very draining to go down 4chan rabbit holes and truly understand like okay this stuff actually exists and there's people out here that like to dog whistle and troll on the internet and just get a rise out of people and that's that's really the currency on 4chan now i think i posed two possible explanations like one all these people are neo-nazis but i kind of wrote that off um intentionally too it's a much more difficult thing to define here what's going on because it's it's people that's almost no commentary yeah like anyone who watches this can can see that some of the symbolism is racist but the fact that it's so racist and raunchy and bad makes it funny to the people that are in the know so it's defined as post-ironic or post-ironic humor or post-ironic racism yeah and it's really difficult to pin down that's why stuff like this is designed to make the person who questions it look like a madman so the only way in my mind to do this was really just lay it out in a video format which hasn't been done before prior to my video so well i think that's one of the most insidious things about types of you know like what you said esoteric messaging is that even the acknowledgement that it exists brands you as a madman to many people that are not in among the initiated yeah and so um i i guess one one kind of like final question is i wanted to ask you is that obviously there are two circumstances here and it's kind of what you just brought up is that one circumstance is that these four guys and maybe uh the woman who is involved with them and a handful of other people at some point potentially are in the know and are actually neo-nazis and trying to use this messaging to subliminally uh give people a reason to have this type of uh i guess like proclivity right to believe this stuff so they're actually neo-nazis that's effectively what i'm saying right is it right one cases are actually neo-nazis the other one is they're just trying to provide effectively a social commentary make some money at the same time and just effectively pull off the biggest troll that i think we've ever seen which one do you think it is the second one the biggest troll i've ever seen what makes you think that it's not that them actually being neo-nazis because they're educated and they make it a point to tell everyone that they're smart and like for example they quote ludwig wickenstein hemingway iceberg theory uh he greg solano who is um gargamel wrote his senior thesis on roberto bolano who's i believe a cuban he's one of like the top 50 latin american writers and roberto bollano wrote a book mocking nazis like it it's kind of you almost they're too smart to just like stoop down to blatant uh i don't know white supremacy i think that it's a lot more gratifying when you're able i mean you play world of warcraft i i've played wow my entire life like the fantastical background yeah the fantastical background of um all the lore and uh depending on what you think of it like that's that's a writer's kind of wet dream in a sense um and world building is all part of a writer's arsenal so when you're able to pull something off with really elaborate uh messaging symbolism uh character building uh all that i just think that's more gratifying than just simply being racist do you think that it was intentionally over in cases with let's say the logo etc to put it right in front of people and then to have them assert that it's not there yeah totally why um it's kind it's kind of like a laugh in everyone's face in that case i i mean i believe that one look at those logos and anyone can see that it's just like very similar uh down to like the placement of the text the 18 teeth the jagged edge now some people have said that the jagged edge you know doesn't really have any merit because it's hard to find on the internet yeah at the time when ryder was doing this research from what i understand he found it it's that particular jagged edge waffen totenkov emblem appears in two places one it's graham's nazi covers it's it's a weird website that has like nazi history and that and that's like the logo and then it's also on the steam marketplace as like a skin for a tank game so it's not like that that jagged edge waffen-totenkov emblem doesn't exist it wasn't put there to like deceive people yeah um it does exist but it is harder to find than like the traditional circular emblem totenkov right but there is actual precedent for it being jagged in that way yeah there's two examples of it on google all right though that's at least good to know and honestly like i think that this is something that a lot of my audience including myself thought is that i mean the amount of work that you put into this was absolutely tremendous i like especially i mean i consider myself somewhat of a um of a of a journeyman in this type of uh messaging and a 4chan culture and this just a lot of this completely caught me off guard like the gargamel thing i'd never even heard of that right well i appreciate the your support and your viewers taking the time
