Fryman game through huge do you wanted a cushion hey guys I'm filming with this one today oh let's try to get into the film making a huge no I'm filming with this one here you might recognize her face this isn't a Sadie's okay so we're gonna do a call out on Twitter and Instagram asking if there's any topics you would like us to discuss so we're doing that and then my own yeah one of books that what have you really loved but the other didn't considering the two of you have quite similar taste in books the same thing is we do but we don't yeah I know and this is also quite interesting because your wallet people who probably like sitting here I've already said all I've got I want to be that like that but there's loads of books that I think it's more books that you've loved and I haven't liked then because I loved and you haven't maybe because actually read the books you recommend shirt good one that you've read I definitely have read more than that but like my hair to answer this question I'll say the difference you think oh yeah that's true so hey we're saving tonight we have like a cross over in the middle with that magical realism literary fiction stuff and then I really like a lot of poetry in it yes you really lots I thought I'm gonna be brave enough probably to well that's just it's not your thing yeah I guess you need a lot of well not be fancy and stuff I don't I don't mean that so much so yeah half hour like I possibly I don't know if this is true but maybe I which I'm really drawing don't read enough but I am really drawn in by the sort of working class world storyline Oh likes one set of classics yeah you read more classics I definitely don't now as much now I think I did you sit we don't want to yeah but there's interesting that I find I think oh I haven't done that in a while I could read a certain kind of it can look back at me as it's actually Neos oh yeah yeah me too yeah yeah cuz I know I'm in the pre-staged when I started where I read a lot not a lot but way more classics and modern classics yeah at all last year had loads of epic fantasy this year let me go word one but I'm okay with that yeah but I quite like just read them all in life at the time yeah cuz if you make yourself doing something that you're not feeling no that's a question that is definitely one more question which books of one of us where's the other one one night cuz they at me more than that there I know that more than that I do really like slow conversation I are actually bad for is that we buy books all the time that yeah I'm saying is not sure announcements yet I see a lot on your turn I think you see a lot of mine where were like oh I want that but then we have a wrench reading so we do we're just get excited about what other people like and a reading and need to catch what I say excited ominous jealous if someone else has it and I don't but I feel that nor did I want it okay when you want to be a service I don't tell you what I do do this is we all the thing to admit if I see a book and like that I haven't seen it on YouTube yeah yeah then even if I know I'm not gonna get your free for you but I still want to haul it yeah do you do that how do you mean like well I love all things when I get them yeah I know but like if I hadn't if I haven't bought it yet and I'm thinking about buying it and I think there's no point buying it so I'm definitely not gonna get to really know I think we mean you want to get it on your channel but such an awful thing that's funny they I think it's you know no I don't think I do it I don't do that deliberately but I do enjoy being like the introducer stuff I do like that feeling it's just from being a bookseller for ten years right yeah and getting that buzz I know that was awful I hate you all and all of you buddy read and you were in there and it's like it every please no it's it's fine I think that like with the book of meet stranger things I wasn't the first person to read it but I was one of the first people just cuz they were late the day it came out and I was Nokia shelf in the phone it was the first book affair that ever read but I remember reading the blurb in their catalogue games so excited about it so when it arrived it just read it and I didn't have any expectation a pop of fact that I liked the globe I never read his writing before a lot of people who read it had already when it comes to petal and it's so different that they were annoyed by that and there was no one telling me how amazing it was going to be and then I went to read it yeah I did I killed them for once Mike buzzed and told him on how great it was to be honest a lot of people he'll notice people stood me out but it was just a bad mix appear which was because it was it was in a box a group words I don't know what like 7,000 yeah everyone either didn't finish it all finished if I do like it yeah and if I was like leaving messages like tiptoeing like how do you already today I can't remember but I had been talking about it with Max well he was that oh I'm not I'm not so sure Joan and what was it Chelsea and really and Britney Monroe's even finish it yeah anyway are there any books that you are now ashamed to say that you proudly declared luck for okay see I feel this is a good question because I feel awful thinking life's a lot recently that so I got my channel first a to yoga for 94 years and I'm aware that just for a start the channel I hadn't been reading for about four years yeah Bassett you may be already few books a year so when I finished University there was a couple of books that really got me back into reading and I mean they may not have even been reviewed they were probably just before the channel yeah so I haven't necessarily proudly declared it because I don't have time to tell people but I would have said it to people I knew and one of those which I'm trapped like profits which is I don't nothing about that yeah so it's like me but for coming back into reading I've got back in University I've just you know finished and I'm so glad to be done with it by the end of it and I it's a big book my setting right read it in about two days and I loved it but I I almost 100 such if I read it now I'd be like okay so but if it's all the other time and place that you read and also Haruki Murakami yeah I read nearly all of his books and I was seventeen in one year and I seriously doubt I think if I reckon round hate you stuff I honestly do and I almost want make myself do it within partly doesn't use that affection because I just think what book if who's doesn't have I have a great see Dreamgirls yeah that and there's a cat there's jazz music as a good thing any of the energy lobes and that's so flat yeah and I think if I read them now I'd be like this is the same book with the same issues they're gonna be gonna go at the time yeah I'll do it no I do feel I wish that's one thing I do you feel I always wish I hadn't have a second book cheap what are you yeah because I actually have I feel like I've changed so much in the things I recognize that actually I have issues with ever being proud of that's interesting because I made my top five favorite author video yeah and I kind of didn't want to make that one because but people were asking these making I think you were also surprised by my choice because I included free suteki when I should have really included to it Winston and I don't really know why yeah but it was just on the day I was like yeah I'm doing country I don't know why did that was something I would change but yeah Murakami was was one of the ones I miss it and it's because I wanted to include authors who I'd read most of their work yeah and so actually a lot of my favorite books by authors whose of work I haven't read yet so it is difficult but motor Carmen was one of the ones that I included and I do like you have a real affection for his books but I recently read so I've read one of them apart from one can wait for it more than me and Oh pimple that they were really recently and I read the others a long time ago that maybe eight years ago or so apart from one of them which I read a couple of years ago which was hard-won website in the in the world and that's my favorite Murakami and it's actually very different the other one that's really messed up and I still love that one a lot but then recently I read The Economist yeah exactly so and I did think oh because I was is that when you're recognizing all of the dots and it is like a comfort blanket I think I said that when I reviewed it because you know what you're getting with miracle yeah you do you do feel first - but then I feel like it's a comment packet I don't need I mean I think it's quite nice actually in a way that we have documented our changing tastes yeah actually because I suppose why if someone comes across my channel from the early video yeah but I've never removed yeah because I feel interesting thing to leave up there I sometimes think you know somebody might say Oh blah blah blah and then I might my opinions might that you change by then yeah oh not that I like that time that you say but you just you just change as a person yeah okay Rachel said I would love tips on fitting and reading more books especially around work and writing don't do other things because what I saw Plus reflect on my mum I actually don't think I've spent much time reading no I don't but I also don't think I'm a fast reader I think I'm completely average yeah what's an average I don't know like it's a minute yeah so I think that's the end if I'm reading across think was some permit what is it bill I'm slower than that if I was gonna read a contemporary or why a so I think that's pretty average yes I'm he reads a lot I think that's not particularly slow or fast and I also know where there's the loads of our is in my life for I could be reading it or not but yeah I do know you do a lot I don't do a lot but I don't I don't like sit down and read for hours at a time I don't want that so I read like 20 minutes on the on that like tube or you know waiting in the queue like the supermarket or whatever I mean the key is just to always have the book with you so that if you find yourself in a space I get a waiting room for an appointment or whether you open up a new weed because I hate not having a bit with me and being stuck somewhere I use the car not when there see how I use an audio book and then I just yeah yeah and I listen the audio mix in them on the bus because I can't read on the bus because I get motion sick but I will yeah I just I mean I genuinely don't have much of a social life and I wanted so okay with that like I planned it to be that way so no no I'm hanging out with what I realize that I tried to make it was on me so yeah I mean I probably read if I'm at home very very rarely will I be so sucked into a book they'll sit and read it for like you know three hours of a satyr yeah I'm going I can't and they suspect many sounds reality I'm not energetic but after about 40 minutes I feel like I needed a break like having a mobile site or well you know and so I'll new seats and what should people watch a video or go get food or something just read that's all okay there was no advice about from just read no I mean you just got a I think it's a famous with writing people ask me about that you just got to make time to do the stuff yeah and obviously there are always times when you're busier than others but like I often work weekends and we can work like 18-hour days or whatever but if I don't read even just for 20 minutes I get a bit I don't know well stressed out but I like to be involved in one book I mean they're thinking about it sometime yeah I think it's just getting the habit of doing things work you be so not reading schedule because that idea freaks me out but if you like sit down and oh right I'm gonna wait for 20 minutes and you put your phone in a different or something because they're like temptations check out dog go check something and get extracted so getting away from distractions always having a book on you in case you find a minute when you can read and also I like to have several different books on the go at the time so maybe one poetry book one Chaucer equation on fiction novel so that you're not in a position where you're like if you have the time to eat and you actually want to but you think I'm not keen to pick that one up if you have several on the go there's probably something in your in the mood for reading that you'll go right while I read that now yeah so that you're more likely to read so I mean it there's no like I don't know just magic tricks or anything but just I know I don't have it I don't feel like I proper stream read that much no and you know what cadence channel does I think no loads now and both of us I'm read is a fairly short books I think as well I do like a short but yeah so I think it may come across as we've read notes but actually we've over twelve books that they may be sure go ask Eleanor in Kate yeah with the wrong people okay max hi max says what are your thoughts on literary prizes and he's got question questions let's just do that one because I mean we've been talking for about an hour okay I've got surprises that have a specific reason okay so like I'm not that interested in the massacre yeah closer well that sort of thing because they dislike the best birth of the year I'd rather prize that was guiding me to an actual theme so I really like the James Tiptree yeah a knurled and which I haven't personally like done loads of research into that it's something I wanna try and II and so she that's all focused on like it's ug science fiction books that deal with like gender and sexuality and that and then you've got the Wainwright prize as well waiting my prize which is all focused on British nature right yeah so I'm more interested in something like that than I am just all encompassing so like I don't have an issue the fact that something like the Booker is a selection of judges which is different every year and it's just a group of people who may not share our eating tastes telling me what the best book is but can you be saying that with anything though I think that's why it's interesting is it you know any book review anywhere yeah because it's about that person who they wrote it out and if they've read it later maybe they wouldn't have loved it also the context that they happen to read it in yeah so I I don't take them as seriously as that I suppose that I see them as like almost like a BuzzFeed list appears some books you might wanna check out yeah so we've read a shit-ton and we really like these ones like what they do for the writers as well because yeah I think especially when it's with small presses and they give attention to books that wouldn't in other like mass media places and their sales so I think that's really interesting in the process of doing the costume yeah these judges and their opinions who's telling you what to repeat don't reproach for anyway yes I know the poetry judges this year I am finding it really interesting because it is different I mean I've shadowed prizes before but I've never been like a judge and after this one and the job to another prize which I'll talk about in the future but when you're judging books for a prize I feel like I'm judging any book that I'm reading yeah against anything else I've read yeah but you're so much more hyper aware that you're judging and it really does affect your reading not in a negative way but I just find it quite interesting yeah saying I might be able to talk about that more once I'm out of the process because I'm still within it at the moment I'm really thinking this as good as that cuz you must as you go one must become the top in your mind yeah and then you're carrying it I think that yeah yeah I do find myself doing that but you know what I do that because even knows they're different ultimately they have to be put against each other yeah so I feel like I don't and I just like like that sort of thing I just don't necessarily put a lot of trust yeah because I feel like I if there was a group of five people who I'd read a lot of water channels all read a lot of their reviews and I knew I had some Invictus and every year those the judges so because then it would be all after we've had hesitations about how our tastes have changed over the years yeah that's true but the thing is way coming at it from the point of view of people who are really involved in the book world I think these prizes are good for people who walk into a picture yeah that's right yeah and they see a table and they're like I'm going that prize and I know that name and yeah that's true yeah they have their water I think if I see an excellent looks good I'm interested but it lacks a taste and it looks bad that I don't think that I'm Lester for not being interested no I agree on that I agree with that okay I think we're gonna have to call it a day there cuz we've been talking for a very round yeah so we're gonna go some with video over on Mercedes channel I'll leave a link link link her channel down below the video might not be up yeah it'll be up at some point yeah yeah okay thanks for having me you're very welcome come back again soon right smart I'm going to a thumbnail
