BMW doesn't want you to see your i8's engine!?

how's it going guys Dylan from luxury lives on and I hope everyone's doing well today today I'm going to talk to you about something that BMW doesn't want you to know in fact you've probably never even seen it what I'm talking about is what's under that hood you see we have no access to really opening it there's no notches or tabs or anything to even open it and in fact what BMW says is leave it to us only we touch it at services so we're obviously not going to listen to that and pry it open [Music] [Applause] now most of you probably all know this is in fact a hybrid there are two engines in this there is the electric engine at the front and a combustion engine at the back although we can't see that either you see all we have is a well depressingly small trunk and when we do try to see the other engine as I said there's no tabs there's nothing to open or see what's lurks underneath all right let's get prying what are you mad I'm not gonna use this so you all I had to do is hammer this nail in that perfect alright first things first you actually have to remove these little tabs and basically they expose a pull cord for the release of the hood so we have to Don this side and then the other side alright now that we've pried our i8 open we actually need two people to open this because as I said you're not really supposed to so normally you have two mechanics holding the hood on either side apparently if you don't do this evenly the hood could easily fall and break so I'm having my brother LaRon help me out with this and basically we're going to hold it open put a screwdriver in it and hopefully that will stabilize the hood [Applause] alright guys let me lift this up because I don't think that angle quite did it justice look how crazy it looks with everything open I've never seen it like this before obviously the doors give it a ton of presence but I mean when you have the front and the back trunk open it just looks crazy so crazy and basically this is what BMWs been hiding a little bit of well nothing big fan big battery obviously your fluids here as well and let's see what's on the other side and nothing really just more fluids and just a you know look at the mechanism how crazy this is so so crazy but at you know a big big surprise for me was well there was really absolutely nothing under there so a bit of a disappointment I guess you could say well while we have everything open even though there isn't much to see there is a basically a 131 horsepower electric motor somewhere in there I promise you it's somewhere in there and you're gonna get another motor at the back underneath here or it's mid-mounted at 231 horsepower now that is a not very impressive 1.5 litre well let's be honest mini engine and this isn't such a large engine itself but it gives you a combined output of 362 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque and when you have a car that's completely carbon fiber and looks well as crazy as this I think it's easy to look past the leader agend well look more to the fun that it brings driving I wanted to show you the engine because well in most cars this cool you actually get to see it speaking about the 458 for instance you get a really cool glass back and that exposes the engine and even at any pretty much cars and coffee will ever go to you'll see a zo6 with the hood open anyway so this is a car where you never really get that chance well I think I've answered a question for all of you that well you've never thought of even asking what does a BMW i8 engine even look like and I think we know why we've never seen it you see it's not exactly impressive even if we went through the back and saw the combustion engine there it's well pretty much a mini engine and that's just depressing and you come to the front here to see the electric engine and well we just see a hole where the fan should go in an oversized battery so I think this was an interesting thing to show you guys and I hope you guys enjoyed the video kind of answered a question for you guys today and I ended up showing you nothing don't forget to like you guys don't forget to subscribe and thank you so much for watching peace [Music]
