foreign [Music] welcome to my new tutorial today we are going to create this cute game environment with some micro animations and I really hope you will enjoy this one and if you do please don't forget to leave the like and if you're new to the world of 3D and blender and you want to learn in the most effective way be sure to check out my courses I carefully designed them to take you from beginner skills through local illustration all the way to full character illustration and with the new one you get to create textured environment so if you're interested please check out the link in the description now let's jump right into empty blender file and first of all let's select the Light press X and delete and we'll leave the camera and the default cube in place and we'll actually use the cube so let's select it tap into the edit mode and we'll press G than Z and one and confirm with enter this way we moved it one meter up because the cube by default is 2 meters in size so now we have the origin point at the bottom and now let's go for select by pressing 3 select the top face and press G than Z and minus 0.3 let's confirm and now let's press shift d to duplicate this face right click to release it in place and press e and 0.3 and confirm now just to make sure the normals are correct let's press a to select all and shift n to recalculate them so now if you type out there's nothing to see it still looks like the cube but we actually separated this top part so now if you go to the modifiers panel and add the bevel modifier you will see you get a separation like this and now we can increase the number of segments reduce the amount a little bit and in the shading enable hard and normals right click and shade Auto smooth and don't forget to increase Auto smooth to 180 degrees so we get the Bell modifier full control over the shading so now this is the basic Cube we'll be using to build our environment and now we'll just duplicate it few times to create this middle level so let's press alt D for link duplicate so the objects will will be the same and immediately we can press Y and 2 to move these two meters along the y axis and let's confirm with enter and now select this one again press alt D and now X and 2 to move these two meters along x-axis and let's confirm with enter so now we have the perfect alignment and I want to create one more but I want this to be lower so this time I want to use alt D so they're not linked but shift d so I want to create a new object from this so let's press shift d and let's press X and two to move these two meters let's confirm with enter and now we can go to the edit mode Let's enable x-ray view so we can see through and now let's just go for vertex select or press one select these top vertices and press G down Z and -1 let's confirm with enter so this way we moved everything one meter down and we can now Tab out and to make it a little bit more interesting we can duplicate one more right here so let's press alt D and press Y and -2 let's confirm and now I'll just press G then X to grab these along x axis and minus 2 as well and now we are still sure that this is perfectly aligned so let's toggle the X-ray again and now we'll create some you know little game assets like mushroom the heart and the ghost so let's select this part right here tap into the edit mode and let's go for face select by pressing three select the top face and hold shift s to snap cursor to select it this way we can create new objects right here so Tab out and let's press shift a and we'll add a circle and let's now modify the vertices to 12. let's confirm with enter and now tab into the edit mode and press s to scale this down and now let's make sure we are in the vertex select mode by pressing one press e then Z and extrude a tiny bit and press s to scale it up and now we can alt click the bottom Loop and press Ctrl f for a face menu and choose grid fill this way we get a little bit better topology when filling the bottom cap and now let's alt click this Loop right here press e then Z and extrude this up scale it down like this and again we can press alt F and grid fill and additionally we can press Ctrl R and create a loop cut right here and now if you Tab out and press Ctrl 2 to add subdivision modifier you will see you created a shape like this now we can just right click and shade smooth and we can continue up here so let's press shift a and we'll add a mesh and a round Cube if you don't see this option here just go edit preferences add-ons and search for extra and activate the add mesh extra objects just check the box and close the preferences and now if you press shift a you will see all these options here including the round Cube and let's just switch the preset to quad sphere and reduce the subdivisions to something like 4 and we can now rotate with the middle Mouse button and press G than Z and move this up tiny bit like this and now tap into the edit mode and let's enable x-ray View and let's select the bottom vertex and we'll enable proportional editing here so now if you press G and Z you will see this follow-up Circle and you can increase it with the mouse wheel so now we get to compress it like that and additionally we can press a to select all and move it up so it better sits on the origin point there and now we can tap out press G and Z move it down and press s to scale it and Ctrl 2 to add that subdivision modifier as well here so let's right click and shade smooth now we can exit the X-ray View and I think this is too high right here so we can just push this a little bit down by pressing G then Z and now we'll create some details so first of all let's tab into the edit mode select the top vertex and hold shift as in snap cursor to select it Tab out and let's press shift a and we'll add another round Cube but this time I will just tap into the edit mode press s and scale it down like this so it's flat and now alt click the loop around press G then Z and move it down and reduce the fall off like this so we get a little curvature right there now let's check where the origin point is and we can press G and z and move it a little bit higher and now if you scale it down you can enable face snap right here and project individual elements and align rotation so now if you press G and hold Ctrl you will snap this to any surface so we can scale it down right here right click and shade smooth and additionally to make it look smoother we can press Ctrl 1 to add one level of subdivision and now we can just press alt D several times and by holding Ctrl we can snap it and place it around like this okay so that's the mushroom and now some eyes so let's select this bottom part tab into the edit mode and for example let's go for Edge select select this Edge right here hold shift s and snap cursor to select it now Tab out let's press shift a and add the cube and now tap into the eight mode scale it down don't forget to turn off the proportional editing with O and press s then X and scale it up a little bit now we can help ourselves by enabling x-ray View and now press Ctrl R and increase the number of cuts to 2 with the mouse wheel and confirm with the left click right click to release in place and now if you tap out and press Ctrl 1 you will get the shape or press Ctrl 2 for more smoothness right click and shades mode so now we'll press one for a front view on an armpit and press R to rotate this and G then X to push this inside a little bit now let's look from the side by pressing three press G then Y and move it to the side and now alt D and Y to duplicate so that's the mushroom right here and now we can just select everything here hold shift select the bottom part as last and press Ctrl p and object to keep transform so now if you selected everything moves at once so that's the mushroom and we can optionally scale it let's disable the X-ray View and now for the ghost that will be really simple so let's select this part right here tap into the edit mode press 3 for face select and select the top face hold shift s and snap cursor to select it now Tab out we'll press shift a and add another round Cube and now you can see the preset stays there so we can just tap into the edit mode scale it down like this and press G and Z to move it up and let's look from the front by pressing one and again enable x-ray View and now press 1 for a Vertex select select the bottom vertices press X and delete them and now alt click the bottom Loop press e and z to extrude them down like this and now with those where this is still selected just go select and Checker the select download the select every other vertex and you can just press G then Z and move them up like this and now just press Ctrl R and create the support Loop right here and basically that's the ghost shape so now Tab out and we can go ahead and add solidify modifier right here and you will see the thickness appear right there in the model so do something like this and now press Ctrl 2 to add that subdivision surface modifier and disable the X-ray view so now this is your goal shape right click and shade smooth and we can reuse these eyes so let's select them by holding shift let's look from the front and press alt D to duplicate them and place them here press alt R to reset the rotation and press R and 90 degrees and let's confirm with enter and now let's look on the side by pressing three press G then Y and move them right here and now we can see they're still parented to the mushroom so hold shift and select the ghost press Ctrl p and keep transform so now we have the ghost in place and it moves with the eyes so the next thing I want to create is the heart so let's select this part right here tab into the edit mode and hold shift s and cursor to select it since the top vertices were already selected now type out and let's press shift a and we'll add a single word and again this is part of the extra objects add-on so if you activated it you should see it right here and now let's look from the top by pressing 7 on an armpit and you can see we're already in the edit mode if you place the single vertex just make sure you are in the vertex select mode as well and now we can zoom in a little bit and press e to extrude several times and extrude half of the heart shape like this and now in the modifiers panel let's add mirror modifier and enable clipping and now it will snap right here if we move it with G now press a to select all press F to fill and E to extrude now this is the basic heart shape so now we can tap out and add Bell modifier reduce the amount a little bit increase the segments and you can see there's unnecessary bevel right here so we'll increase the angle here to 45 and now we can press Ctrl 2 to add that subdivision modifier here as well so it's nice and smooth now let's press R then X and 90 degrees to rotate 90 and press G than Z and move it up and additionally let's look from the side tap into the edit mode and we can press a to select all and G then y to move it so the origin point is right here in the middle because I want to rotate it around the z-axis so this way it will look nicer when it rotates so now tap out right click and shades mode and additionally what we can do is press Ctrl a to apply the rotation and Ctrl a to apply the scale now we have another object in place and I think I will make it a little bit wider so it's more chunky so tap out and one last thing I want to create is the tree so let's select this part right here tap into the edit mode and hold shift s and snap cursor to select it now Tab out and we'll press shift a and add a circle now tab into the edit mode press s to scale it down and e and z to extrude on z-axis now alt click the bottom and press G and Z move it down a little bit into the geometry and now select the top words hold shift as a snap cursor to select it now Tab out and we'll press shift a and we'll add another round Cube and now we'll need to increase this to something like eight so it's nice and smooth right click and shades mode and additionally we can press Ctrl 1 to add one level of subdivision now press G then Z and move this up like this and we can make this a little bit wider so tab in press a to select all and shift and shift d that will lock the scaling only on the X and Y axis and just drag it a little bit like this and now type out we'll now right click Shades mode and we'll create some leaves because this is very stylized three but I want to suggest that there are actual leaves on the tree that it's not only like a rounded ball so let's press shift a and we'll add a plane press G then y move it aside so we better see what we are doing let's press s to make it smaller a bit like this and now s then y to scale it on y-axis let's press Ctrl R and create two Loop Cuts right here with the mouse wheel and let's select these two where the C's press s to scale them down and these two even more and now we can press three for face select select this one press G then Y and move it back a little bit and additionally of course we can move it up so we have some curvature and now let's press Ctrl R and we'll create a loop cut here in the middle right click to release and now I will select these edges on the side press G and z and move them down tiny bit like this and now press a and ALT e and extrude faces along normals to give it some geometry and again whenever you're extruding from a planar object it's good habit to press a and shift n to make sure the normals are recalculated now let's select the top Edge and press Ctrl B to Bevel and we'll increase the bevel like this with the mouse wheel and let's confirm this now go for vertex select by pressing one select this vertex press G twice to slide these vertex along and now we'll select these two press G and z and move them down so now we can Tab out and press Ctrl 2 to add subdivision modifier and we get this nice shape so right click and shade smooth and let's look from the side by pressing three let's go into the edit mode press a to select all and we'll rotate this a little bit like this and place it on the cursor a little bit better and let's make sure the cursor is a little bit inside and optionally we can enable x-ray select these and make this thinner on the side there and now basically we are ready to duplicate this all around the tree so Tab out and press G and hold Ctrl again we have these snapping options enabled still and press s to make it smaller and let's just find some nice placements so press G and hold Ctrl to place it like this now let's press alt D to duplicate and hold Ctrl to place another one and you can press R then z twice to rotate around local z-axis and this is the way I will just duplicate these all around okay and this way you can have a nice little stylized tree like that and just select everything hold shift select the trunk press Ctrl p and parent to object and now to make the scene a little bit interesting let's add some additional details so first of all let's select this tap into the edit mode and let's just select this Edge on the side hold shift s and snap cursor to select it now Tab out and we'll press shift a and we'll add a plane and just tap into the edit mode press R then X and 90. let's confirm with enter and press G then Z and one to move this one meter up and confirm now we can tap out press s to scale and G then y to move it to the side like this and now let's press Ctrl a and don't forget to apply the scale now tap into the edit mode again select the top Edge and press G than Z to move this up now we'll press Ed and Y to extrude it along y-axis and E then Z to extrude it like that now select these two edges and press Ctrl B to create a bevel like this and increase the number of cuts with the mouse wheel just like that and now select this Loop now hold alt and shift and select the other one and press p and separate the selection and additionally we can press Ctrl R and create two cuts right here and let's hold shift select the other one and press p and separate the selection now we can tap out and we don't need this original object anymore so press X and delete it and you can see these edges are left here in place so now we can select both of these press Ctrl J to join them and now right click and convert to curve and in the curve settings we can increase the bevel depth in the geometry section just like this and we have some small letters so let's press Ctrl 1 for subdivision surface right click and shades mode now let's move this heart a little bit away and one last thing I want to do is to suggest that this is actually dirt at the bottom of these cubes and I want to create like a stone there so shift right click here shift a and let's insert a circle now we can tab into the edit mode press s to make it smaller press F to fill an e to extrude don't rotate it just yet just Tab out and first of all We'll add the bow modifier same as before increase the segments and reduce the amount and now go back to the edit note and let's enable x-ray View Press 3 for face select and select the bottom face press X and delete faces now if you Tab out and disable x-ray you will see that the bottom is sharp and now if you press G and hold Ctrl you will snap it like this exactly on the surface and additionally if you think it's too thick you can tab in select this face press G then Y and push it inside a little bit and now I'll just press Ctrl 1 to add subdivision surface modifier there as well right click Shades mode and press alt D and hold Ctrl to snap it to other surface and I can use S to scale it around and create you know little Pebbles in the dirt like this okay so that's the modeling let's hit zero on an armpit to see from the camera now select the camera by clicking this Edge right here press G then z twice to move it away from the scene and press G to position it a little bit better like this and we can adjust the resolution here in the output settings a little bit and now bring it closer so now it's time to add a little bit of an animation so let's start with the mushroom here let's just select it let's expand the timeline here and let's modify the end frame 220 and in the output settings let's make sure we have 30 FPS as a frame rate so now we'll create the first keyframe and that'll be for a Z scale so let's press n for a side panel and in the item menu let's find the Z scale right here and let's right click and insert single keyframe and now we'll select this frame shift d to duplicate it towards the frame 20 and now let's go to the frame 10 and let's just modify the scale tiny bit like this right click and insert single keyframe so the mushroom will do something like this now I want this to repeat so let's hit Ctrl tab in the timeline to go to the graph editor and for the Z scale we can add modifiers right here on the side if you don't see this panel press n to show it just like in the viewport and let's add the Cycles modifier now this is barely visible but if you hold Ctrl and use your middle Mouse button to drag you can zoom in and now you will see that this automatically repeats and if you have count at zero this will repeat infinitely or you can just add the count manually now we are a little bit out of the bounds so let's just select this Frame right here and move it to the left until we have a better match and now let's move this one frame to the left as well so now we have an animation like this that will repeat infinitely and they'll Loop almost perfectly so that's the mushroom now let's select the heart and we'll go to the frame one and let's insert the Z rotation keyframe right here insert single keyframe and let's move to the frame 120 and someone mentioned last time and it was correct that my animation was a little bit off because I need to end the rotation on the frame 121 so it perfectly matches the rotation on the frame one um which is correct so let's make sure this time we get it right so let's go to the frame 121 and let's enter 720 rotation right here and let's right click and insert single keyframe now we can't see anything but if you press a to select all and press period on an unpad you will zoom in on your animation and this is now accelerating and accelerating so let's make sure it's linear press a to select all keyframes and T in the timeline choose linear so now we have this hard rotating perfectly towards the frame 121 which will nicely skip to the frame one so that's about the heart and with the ghost it'll be similar micro animations so let's select the ghost go to the frame one and we'll actually insert Z location keyframe so right click and insert single keyframe but instead of doing manual keyframes we can just add modifier right here and that'll be the noise modifier so now we can choose add and now if you play it it will be a little bit hectic so let's zoom in on our animation by holding Ctrl and using middle Mouse button like this it can get a little bit clunky at times but this is something that the noise modifier can provide for you and basically we just need to modify the scale and reduce the strength to something like this and this is still too fast so let's set scale to something like 20. and we'll get this subtle movement maybe 15 he can be a little bit faster and let's increase the strength a little bit and now let's restrict the frame range and let's set start to 1 and end 220 with the blending of 15 frames so this way maybe at the end we can blend even 25 and this way we made sure that these Loops perfectly and I like to use noise because it produces this irregular movement and for the ghost I think it fits perfectly so that's our subtle animations now let's finish the scene by adding a background so let's pause the animation and I will go back to the timeline editor and let's collapse this and let's hold shift s and snap cursor to world origin let's push shift a and we'll add a plane tab into the edit mode press s and scale it up like this and to make the scene a little bit more interesting let's go back to the camera view by pressing zero on an armpit we can add few like platforms on the background itself so let's shift right click to move the cursor and this doesn't have to be precise um like the turn tiles so let's press shift a and we'll add a plane now tab into the error note and press e to extrude and now enable x-ray View and we'll delete the bottom face same as with the Pebbles there so press X and delete faces and let's move this a little bit lower tab out and we'll go ahead and add the bevel modifier increase the segments too three and play with the amount let's disable x-ray View and we can move it around the scene press alt D and hold Ctrl to snap it to surface and this way we can just you know complete the layout a little bit you can even scale it a little bit if you want and this way you get to create this interesting layout and now let's go to the render settings and in the EV I will enable ambient occlusion Blue Man screen space reflection for some nicer previews but actually for the rendering I will use Cycles with GPU enable some denoising and I'll switch the noise to Optics and reduce to 64 samples because that will be enough for the animation and in the performance I will reduce the tiling too 512 so now we are ready to preview our animation with Cycles but actually there will be no lighting here so let's hold shift s and snap cursor to allergen let's push it a and we'll add the light and I will add a sunlight press G then Z move it up and now hold period and switch to 3D cursor pivot point or do it right here press R then X and 30 degrees and now R then Z and 45 minus so we have this nice sunlight from the side and additionally we can proceed a and let's add an area Light press G and Z move it up let's make it larger and let's go and switch to disk and increase the power to something like 500 so we get this nice top down lighting so this will be the base for our lighting of course there are many things you can do with the lighting but now this is good enough to go ahead and add some materials so first of all I forgot to shade this smooth and let's select the background we'll go to the materials tab create a new one and create some you know blue background and increase the roughness now select the tile and we'll create the dirt so let's just move this right here to create some dirt material and let's make it a little bit darker like this and now we can select the Pebbles add the same dirt material but duplicate it and let's just increase the lightness a little bit so they'll create a nice contrast and let's select this part again tab into the edit mode and let's select some of these faces on top and press L hovering over them to select linked you will see that the bottom is the selected and now let's add a new material slot and create a new material and we'll move this towards the green and click assign so we have some grass now we'll need to do the same here so select this and we'll create a new material slot as well and add that green material tab into the edit mode press L hovering over this and click assign now let's add the same material here to the leaves and now to the tree as well but here we can duplicate it and make it a little bit darker and of course we can increase roughness on that one and now let's select the lighter and we'll create a new material We'll add metallic and maybe a little bit towards the bronze but I don't like how it looks here so tab into the edit mode and to do this we'll need to hide the side parts so let's select the control Point hit L and press h to hide and do the same here and now let's select this and press alt s to decrease the radius now if you press all H you will see the original radius is still there only the steps are smaller and now this is looking quite okay maybe we can go more to more towards the gold and now let's select the heart and we'll create a red material and give it some glossiness so let's reduce the roughness here and we can add the same material here and basically create a new one for the eyes that's black and has low roughness as well and you will see the transfer to the ghost as well so let's select the ghost we'll create a new material and let's set the subsurface color right here um be careful here I'm not editing the base color just the subsurface and now I will add 0.5 subsurface that will make it like translucent a little bit and now let's add some material to the trunk let's reduce the lightness here and I will add the background material to these tiles as well now let's press Ctrl B to limit the view only to a camera and we can now play with the lighting so bring this down a little bit and a little bit towards the back so we get a nice backlight and we can increase the power to something like 1000 and we can press shift d and move this around to create some nice Reflections here and there you can see it here on the heart that it gets some of these Reflections and now we can duplicate it and move it towards the back to create even more backlight on the background and we can increase the power there to something like 2000 and here we can add some color to the lighting and increase the roughness on the grass because I don't like how it reflects the light and finally in the world settings let's add some violet color and increase its lightness so we fill some of those Shadows now in the render settings just go down and in the color management will switch look to medium high contrast or even high contrast if you want and let's play with exposure so if this looks a little bit too dark on your side definitely add some exposure and you will see much much better results with your renders so let's play back the animation now we have our micro animations in place everything looks cool and nice and stylized so that's it for today's animation tutorial I really hope you enjoyed this one and if you did please again leave the like and if you're new around here hit that subscribe thank you all for watching and have a wonderful day [Music] foreign [Music]
