we stand in a posture of Prayer father we thank you this morning we thank you that you have yet given us another opportunity to come into your house and worship and praise and give you glory and honor that that you do deserve we thank you O God that you give us peace in our heart today the only reason that you would give us the peace that we need is because we trust and we obey help us O God to not trust and other things we trust in our paychecks sometime God we trust in our family members we trust in our spouses we trust in the government but God we trust in you today we trust you for our lives we trust you for breath in the morning we trust you for the strength that is needed God we trust you to carry your burdens the burdens that we carry each and every day we trust you O God because you are trustworthy God where can we go if we don't come to you Lord we say thank you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for giving us an obedient spirit this morning a spirit that desires you and the things that you have for our lives we thank you for our Bishop today Oh God we trust that you would keep her each and every day even as she travels we thank you that she's in the house today we ask you to give her the strength that is needed to carry on Oh God we trust that the Word of God that would come forth today would trains our lives that we would not leave this place the same way we came in we trust that we be able to worship you even without music we can clap our hands and raise our voice this morning knowing that you are good God knowing that you are faithful God and that you are trustworthy God have your way in this place let your spirit saturate this place do a wonderful work in this place oh god somebody came here leading a healing today touch their bodies Oh God somebody came in here stressed they removed the stress oh god somebody came oppress and oppress freedom up Oh God we thank you for their anointing that would fall in this place that would destroy yokes yokes 2nd Corinthians chapter 9 verse 8 and God is able to make all grace abound toward you that ye always having all sufficiency in all things may abound to every good work this is the word of the Lord well we're at the top of a new year and we've been speaking on the subject of grace I don't know about you but I need grace Grace and more grace and so the title of our exhortation is see that you abound in this grace by now we pray that you have a good firm working knowledge and understanding of what grace is Beth Rafah every week we've been giving you information about grace and particularly that this grace that we speak of according to the context of our text has been given to the believer by God and is God's power and ability in you and his full provision for every area in your life this unspeakable gift is an incredible power in you that is unmerited there's nothing that you did or could do to earn it there is and so while grace has its definition based on the context of Scripture all grace is unmerited the truth is we don't deserve it last week we talked about things we abound in and how Paul admonishes us to abound in the grace of giving and that we must express our grace by our actions and learn the meaning of gracious giving and perform the doing of it grace is not given to you so that it just sits in you when we look at our text this morning we see that as you discharge this generosity there's a wonderful promise that it shall be replenished the New Living Translation puts it this way and God will generously provide all you need then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others in the King James Version we see this word abound which means to be over and above it means to exceed the ordinary or the necessary it means overflow it indicates abundance or surplus it exceeds and goes beyond the expected measure it's above and beyond it's more than it refers to that which goes further it's more it surpasses in other words you will be enriched to be more generous all always and every are the emphases in this verse the Word of God is letting us know that God will meet all our needs financial spiritual and wise and in doing so will give you all sufficiency you need all the time in all things in all places somebody ought to get excited he will supply tell your neighbor he will supply he will supply what you need to do the giving seed for sowing sufficiency for giving enrichment for generosity harvest the blessing to do what God is calling you to do you just need to make sure that you do not deny the power thereof you see most of us don't give or give generously or give cheerfully because we are fearful or insecure regarding our income and finances this is primarily because we have the wrong perception or disposition of who our sources but when you read our text here in verse 8 and believe it tell your neighbor to believe it then you make a shift you trust the text you trust the Word of God you esteem the one who is faithful to honor his word and become cheerful and hope in God and abound in the grace that is toward you listen don't be stirred don't be scared to give come on tell you never don't be scared to give you will never be called upon to give sacrificially or otherwise for which there is not an abounding of which God is going to supply proverbs 11:25 says that the Jairus man will be prosperous and he who waters will himself be watered anybody feel like they're warded this morning but just know this grace Labor's it's a constant work it's a constant outflow to others from a constant inflow from God and that is His grace at work we are not giving in our strength or our own supply we give because God is constantly being poured out with his riches into our lives when you say you don't have it check to see if it's because you are doing it in your own strength when you say you don't have it check to see if you are operating in fear when you say that you don't have it check to see if your hoarding check to see if your selfish check to see if is evil the check says that God is able do I have a witness in the house therefore what we believe about God is essential and important when it comes to his ability operating in us it's called grace all and it affects how we walk by faith if you believe that this giving we do is up to you then you will fall short every time but God the lights he loves his pleased by our giving when what when that giving is by His grace and it's cheerful not grudgingly and he will make all grace abound to you so that you will have all the sufficiency you need for everything that God has a sign for you or expects for you and for being the giver he God intends you to be once again I say you have an inherent ability to give generously graciously willingly you can do it tell your neighbor you can do it you can do it grace is yours grace is yours if you want it you can have it if you need it it's yours it's your town somebody it's yours it's yours if you need an envelope this morning I want you to lift your hands and archers will assist you yes ladies and gentlemen if freely you have received see that you abound 11 and this is going to be a I think a three-part series so this is hebrews chapter 11 very familiar passage of scripture verses 1 through 6 hebrews chapter 11 verses 1 through 6 and I think we can read it together it'll be on the screen to my left and right in your Bibles now I'm from the King James Version so you may have another version but let's just some see if we can get it up Hebrews chapter 11 beginning at verse 1 here begins reading of God's Holy Word now faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen for by it the elders obtained a good report through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear by faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain by which he obtained witness that he was righteous God testifying of his gifts and by it he being dead yet speaketh my faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death and was not found because God had translated him for before his translation he had this testimony that he pleased God the text but without faith it is impossible to please him but he that cometh to God must believe that he is and then he's a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him so far the reading and hearing of God's Word you may be seated and this is part one to the media team the title is it takes faith to do this tell your neighbor it takes faith to do is okay so we're in the New Testament and it is a letter and this letter we're not sure who wrote the letter whoever wrote the letter had a good handle on the covenant relationship that God has with his people he is talking to a Jewish audience and these are Jews who had converted to Christianity but now because of persecution they want to revert back or if not revert back they want to power it down they wanted to to suppress it because they did not want to be persecuted it was safer being a Jew than it was to be a Christian at that time and so one of the ways that they were powering it down is that they were neglecting to serve and they were electing to come to worship that's two of the signs don't want to do anything in the church and don't want to worship all right that's what the scripture said I ain't saying that about you I'm the same saying all right now he won't attempt it in this letter to rekindle the flame you know when you're going through you don't want to serve now you don't want to worship and they were not just going through what we call going through you know like not being able to shop freely you know not being able to do certain things or somebody offended you at church or whatever their lives were at stake just like in certain parts of the world people's lives are at stake because of the intestine money for Jesus Christ so he was trying to urge them don't retreat when you're under persecution tell your neighbor don't retreat when you're under persecution as a matter of fact you should step it up step it up so of course he gave them examples in this book is the Hall of Fame of faith people and he gave them examples of they persevered how they endured and he tells him not to draw back but to go forth bearing the reproach of Christ I know that's foreign alright don't draw back let me just stick with that know being a reproach to Signet yeah drum don't draw back if I say bearing reproach anybody's mine will shut down all right don't draw back don't back up don't back up be consistent even though you're going through be consistent even though things are not comfortable okay the 21st century Church in the West we don't know how to do that we don't know how to hang in there and be consistent when things are not going our way so in the previous chapter he talks about you know what faith should be based on the accomplished work of Jesus Christ and in the midst of the trial you should trust trust in your covenant trust the high priest which is Jesus Christ trust a sufficiency of his sacrifice they offered up lambs and turtle doves Jesus's blood is sufficient trust all that heaven that has been provided for you in this atonement and in this redemptive plan so he's reminding them just like we have to remind you I know you don't like to hear it nobody likes to hear it hang in there be steadfast be unmovable know when you hear that you want to hear you know comfortable words comfortable words you know the Lord understands you know it's okay you go into heaven anyway even if you don't worship me you don't take communion and you know reason and whatever so we can't say that we can't say that we have to tell you Percy their race is not given to the Swift nor the battle to the strong but it's for those who endure to the end amen that's the only way you get to know God when you endure all right so the first point I'm at the first point you the only happy faith to please faith to do this this what faith to please but without faith it is impossible to please him and that's Jesus Christ all right you can't please him without faith no there's a verb faith and we've been raised in the last kind of decades on the verb faith I go and get some keys for Mercedes you know with the Mercedes emblem and go and buy them at the you know they have those little shops you know those those are the gift shops where you get t-shirts and whatever you know when you go to a country you go sightseeing they have these mass-producing ain't real now it's just you know it's bodegas stuff so so you go and get these are the key and it says Mercedes and and the emblem and you're holding it up and you're saying I believe God I believe God you know like channeling like Jan see because it's they taught the other channel in the church you just didn't know it was channeling you just want the Mercedes now you have a focus you know you have a focus in UNMISS five payments they get ready to repossess the time but you want a Mercedes and we use our religion to manipulate to attempt to manipulate our preferences and our greed you under said I'm saying so that's what you've been taught that's why nobody trusts the church they don't believe in the church because of the game of the church I'm not talking about that kind of faith or the use of that concept of faith I'm talking about the noun faith it's what your belief system is it's it's your Creed remember the Creed that we the clear this morning I believe that somebody would flow with me because it is a flow in here yeah like the Apostle Street Jesus he says I believe in God the Father Almighty maker of heaven and earth and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord that's your Creed go ahead who was conceived by the Holy Ghost all right Mary and Joseph didn't get together he was conceived by who that means his DNA and his blood his platelets the plasma everything came from God because if it didn't come from God we wouldn't be saved see you got to believe that all right it says born of the white Virgin Mary it meant ain't nobody been there nobody visited it or tapped it it was until it was straight virginity cuz if somebody tapped it then we would be wonder who the baby daddy you see you have to know that if you don't believe in the virgin virginity of Mary then we are now have to question the validity of our salvation because it took the DNA of God to cleanse you know human blood can cleanse you from sin so if you don't believe this then you know join another religion deep breathe and blow but we believe he suffered under what he actually was crucified you understand historically even if you don't believe the Bible historically they will tell you they attest to the fact there was a man called Jesus who was what crucified dead and buried they won't say that and then he rose again that's where they have a problem they don't believe he's alive but we believe he went down into the grave into the grave go ahead and he was wrong again and ascended into heaven that means he's real he alive he's not a phantom he's not a fat person sitting down a big belly fat person sitting down in a statue come on here he's alive sitting in heaven interceding actively actively intimately having a relationship with me see that's what I call faith he didn't but no new shoe is a car you know I'm saying it's not about you know whatever it's about now all of this and he's coming back again he died buried rose and he's coming back again and I believe in holding the Holy Ghost then he sent his spirit before he left he was such a good daddy and a good caretaker he said I'm not gonna leave you by yourself you know people die and don't leave nothing for you you still paying the bills your name not even under will Jesus anyway listen he died and he says I'm gonna send you my spirit the Holy Ghost is not a phantom it's a he it's a spirit whose spirit is it Jesus so it's not a different spirit from Jesus so you can't have any different dreams then that don't coincide with what Jesus said can't can't hear no no voices that Jesus voice didn't say and there's his voice the communion of saints that means I believe that many many people all over the world are believing the same thing in Australia and New Zealand down south up north in the Caribbean okay I believe in the forgiveness of sins I wouldn't be able to lift my head up cuz the guilt and the shame of my past the foolishness of my life I wouldn't be able to live I would have to be drinking gin and chewing gum when I come to church happen to some how to do some just to stay alive just a coat I do something that you know you do now you need to see B and D the Saints in the CB I see now they finding little something-something under your bed and under your car cuz you don't believe that if you believe your sins are forgiven you don't need and you don't need a nickel bag you don't need you whatever else you all be doing you don't need all of that to survive cuz you're free the resurrection of the body so when we bury our loved ones we don't fall in the grave and cut our wrists and lose our mind cuz we know we're gonna see them again listen ladies and gentlemen this is the crux of what we believe life everlasting there's a life after this tell your neighbor you can sit here act like you won't come back like a butterfly I need to warn you you gonna look just like you're looking right now I need if you change your agenda I had something take something fix something pull up something when you get before and we gonna know you like you should be it's called everlasting life it's simple it's this is it tell your neighbor this is it if you don't believe this then you're not gonna make it you're not gonna be a Christian you're not gonna like Christianity you're not gonna like come in the church you won't be able to ride the storms of life you won't be able to make right choices you cannot do it without believing this is your belief system so if I have this suffering the beginning something beginning if I have all of this and if you want it we'll give it to you we have all of this then it will dictate what decisions I make you know where I go what I do with my time my money my thought life all all of this is called faith tell your neighbor that said that's it right there it's not what I feel is not what I dreamt it's not what I want is that hey you're not like too quickly you know I believe in the quickness but it ain't that coz when the quick name doesn't come I need something solid so faith is not what I feel is what I know tell your neighbor faith is what I oh you're saying it like you say it is what I want no on the days when I don't feel safe I know on the days when I mess up and I didn't get an a on the test I can still say I believe that's what keeps you together that's what the Christian should stand on so without this without this it means it's in the genitive it's what my faith it's in the genitive the word faith here in this context he says without my faith this is math not mass produced this can't be Mama's faith it can't be uncle's faith this got to be your personal belief system okay so it's not in here intellectual agreement to truth oh it sounds good yeah I could understand that yeah that makes sense to me because the Bible said the devil believes and tremble demons said to believe that there is a God you don't believe that when Jesus stepped off the boat you know in the gatherings read it yourself and the demon saw him they knelt down they knelt down before him and recognized his authority so demons do that doesn't mean that they gave up their demonic activity no they still demons but Wow all right genuine faith here it is genuine faith is a personal relationship with Christ on two counts reliance on Christ for salvation reliance on Christ for salvation because I believe that his blood cleanse me from sin I am no more guilty or separated from God I have a wide open relationship with God not because I'm good not because I'm perfect because his blood is that bad the second thing is if I believe it I will commit myself to it so there are two aspects to living up my faith believing in the finished work of Calvary to be saved and committing my life to Christ as a disciple if that's not being done you're gonna end up faking it so it involves depending on the finished work of Calvary forgiveness of sin and personal commitment what is personal commitment obeying him that's all you don't have to feel nothing just do what he says and if you don't even if you're dry you don't have all that emotion just just just just give just a BAM so without this thing without means apart from this kind of thing now we know what faith is now right you're free to ask this kind of sermon right here it means you can ask questions you you you you know what faith is right it's not a double shake that's not it I love that come on oh yeah I can go up in it anytime I want to but do I believe and do I permit so without that it is impossible it means that I don't have the ability I'm on amyl and I'm impotent it is not possible for me to please God did you hear what I said now listen we're not into pleasing God we're not into we're not into pleasing God we were born to please ourselves it's just in us I don't care if you sing a hymn with five stands and when you get through in us in us we are born to please ourselves look at the choices that we made itself see I like that man right there but he's married what does that mean because y'all didn't say Amen now you gonna make me have to tell stories and see self self is number one we were born self-centered we were born narcissistic everything that we do that's what Eve bargained for you will be as wise as God it will be about you it would be about not about God it's because God doesn't want you to have this he doesn't want you to have you so you better take you you better you better see is that what we say in the same language you better see about number one ain't nobody gonna take care of you but you can't nobody loved you but you same thing go visit sister Yves he set it up for you it's all in us to want what we want it is impossible to have that kind of feeling and want to please God without faith in what we just talked about the finished work of Calvary forgiven of sin and commitment to his teachings commitment to his life and being led by his Spirit we don't want to praise God because we can't please if you don't acknowledge you see to to accept Jesus's finish work on Calvary is to say that we are depraved deprived and unable to have a relationship with him so I'm saying if you don't if you don't accept that then you you're not gonna please him number one no numbers 14 and 11 and the Lord said unto Moses how long will this be provoked me I know how long will it be here that they believe me for all the signs which I've shown among them I showed them signs and they still don't believe brought him cross the Red Sea and they still don't believe you understand Hebrews 4 and 2 for unto us was the gospel preached as well as unto them but the word preached did not profit them not being mixed with faith in them that heard it you can't eat believe the scripture without save you can't believe this and live it unless you believe what we just said unless you have a credo a belief system that says this is it go do it don't do it Romans 8 and 4 and I'm almost finished see that I'm always finished yeah Romans 8 and for that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit but they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh but they that are after the spirit the things of the Spirit for to be carnally minded carnally minded is death but to be spiritually minded is life and peace because the carnal mind is enmity against God for it is not subject to the law of God neither indeed can it be so then they that are in the flesh cannot please God so all right so you know I did part one I believe that Jesus died for my sins came to the altar cried or sat in my car and asked the Lord you know to come in my heart I was in the bathroom under the shower and and lo and I received Jesus I was in the hairdresser's shop with the thing over me see I'm telling you you can receive them in anywhere anytime I was getting my nails done and I just started crying and said come into my heart Lord Jesus not to be in church so that's done so now you're a Christian I can't say you're not a Christian if they believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and and and that he's raised from the dead you shall be saved but with the heart man believeth unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation who am I to say that you're not saying if you did all of that but here comes the acid test now after I after I do that now I have to live a life daily daily to please him now why why is it a problem in pleasing him after I got saved where's the problem cuz I'm carnally minded what does that mean it means that after I got saved I have to start committing my ways to the Lord following his instructions in different areas but if I don't say I get stuck right here now I moved from sin see I came out the hotel see Lord delivered me and brought me I'm in church but I'm stuck right here because he's asking me to do some things that you know I don't want to do there's some things I like doing even though I'm saved but there's some things that like you know some things like cursing then they they don't feel like they're getting the point across some Saints some Saints like to create division see now I can't say you're not saved whoa I ain't saying you're not saying but there are things that we do lifestyle lifestyle things to your neighbor lifestyle things I didn't get to murder and and serial killing because we think that's nono lifestyle things don't read your Bible don't go to anybody's Church don't go to any Bible study you understand just stream we can't bury your data for them streaming we didn't even know you had a mama so you streams that we didn't know about we can't even serve your communion so me say yes you can we can't serve your community on streaming cuz communion is a fellowship thing you don't do communion by yourself up in a little corner through streaming you're supposed to be with the body of Christ but anyway carnality tells you you know you know you can you can posture yourself so you overhear your carnal you don't need any instructions you don't you don't need to grow you know you're in the church you're saved but you want to be worthy you understand you want a wine and grime wh I and II WH I and II see you ain't you ain't no Christian your carnal your carnal you want to be secular you want to be like the work you don't want anybody to welcome and say oh there's something different about you there's such a glow you don't want that cuz you know you you want to blend you want to blend so now we don't know you said we don't even know you go to church well we know you have a Bible that's what the church is that's carnality because Paul said I bear the mark you understand I'm not talk about the tattoo you have on your rear end I'd be in the mark I bear the mark of G we don't want to be readily recognize carnality so God is saying oh you know I saved you whatever whatever but you're not pleasing me carnal people please themselves you can't take you can't take any correction you're easily you know upset I'm talking to the whole church now I'm the one individual I'm just saying that I'm just saying it you know you don't you don't give anybody any room we don't give anybody any room all of these things are carnality and we can't please God you don't easily forgive when somebody asks for forgiveness you keep something going all the time that's not pleasing God okay why Cannot we please God because we're rebellious when you don't please God you're pleasing yourself and in the mind of God in the book it's called rebellion the principle of rebellion and hatred you don't like to please him you're displeasing him and you don't like to follow is command all right so I'm in the chair for 20 years I've been in the same seat for 20 years save Santa fide I know how to show if I know I shout in some of the churches I know I even speak in the tongues when questioned your tongues you know we're here to are rolling and the Bubba but we were in question window but there are things that God has asked you to do to grow to mature to deal with things differently than the way you were raised to deal with me to make godly choices to pay the price to wait the trust to take your hands off the driver's seat and let him lead see that's how you please him you don't need the Greek or the Hebrew just do what he says well how do I know what he says read the Bible it ain't confusing but I've been waiting for him to talk to me no no no no no there's a reason why you can't hear not because he can't talk it's something in you that will not yield to him so how do I please God how do I please him how do I please him the way to please the Lord is to surrender and two-year to the leading of his spirit to surrender to his word and to surrender to the leading of his spirit how does that play out if I want to please God what do I do with that what do I do with that talk to me you are pray all right now when I pray how should I pray all right okay now when I pray that prayer what should I expect an answer what are some of the possible answers that he could give me okay so he says no what should how should I respond to the note how should I respond huh agreement what does agreement is not good enough I feel a praise right here I can make my own music if you fueled me I get on the instrument and play my own song this is what so what I have for you is not so so my name is not what El Shaddai the all-sufficient my name is not what omniscient the all-knowing God but you don't know nothing I don't know nothing you don't know what's gonna happen tomorrow but your bad self you know you you don't know you don't know what could happen between now and 6:00 o'clock and they all-knowing God says sit yourself down right here until I tell you to move and it's not sufficient you're not losing him because you're saying you're insulting his integrity you're insulting him as if he doesn't know who he is how when he has for you so ladies and gentlemen if you don't have that faith that creed that says he is Lord he died for my sins that he sent His Spirit to bring me close to him so that I could fulfill his purpose so every decision I make everything I do must be based on that fact faith is based on fact faith is not based on a feeling so as a result of it I'm making a decision but someone so doing it and how come they doing it and they're prospering you don't know if they're prosperous so so you know so-and-so had this um have this friend how come I can't have a friend and and and when he comes to pick her up he picks her up in this Jaguar and he's such a gentleman and you know how come I can't have that how come I have that you know no it is a Jaguar you know we want so much of what other people have that we are missing out while what God has just believed me if you believe on me as the scripture has said out of your belly shall flow rivers of living water springing up into ever lasting life ladies and gentlemen this is not complicated it's complicated when we try to tear it down deconstruct it it's simply this I fixed it for you with my blood I set it up for you with my spirit I laid out to to you with my word all you gotta do is follow me even when it's uncomfortable even when you don't understand even when it's not popular even when people are saying it doesn't make sense follow me and you will please me and if you please me you get benefits when you please me I will give you stuff that money can't I will bless you I will uphold you I will take care of you now if you don't believe that you're gonna have to work out your own plan you're going to heaven I can't say you're not saying but you're gonna do your own thing you're gonna work out your own situation in church and be miserable in church and be discontented in church and I'm being a pill you're a pill we see you coming we know you repeal see in church in church sings in church for years can sing all the songs and dance all the dance but have no faith don't believe that Jesus did what he did and don't believe that what he did is sufficient to keep your mind and to give you direction and if you follow it you'll find a peace that passeth all understanding you'll find healing for your soul direction for your mind protection for your life promise for why you're born if that's missing you might as well on another religion cuz you just wasting your time he called you into him now next time when I talk about this part - you won't find out who gave you this faith where'd you get the faith from and he gave you this faith to believe him and to trust him not to believe him for here's my here's my life scripture and in your some of y'all st. John remember when Mitchell Smith gave me that gave me that little window to preach my truck they called trial sermon I don't know what they call it now but it was trial sermon you know and and I was so scared cuz all of them here looking at me you know I mean nothing worse than appreciative when he appears and they're all looking at me and I'm standing there and I didn't have as much as I have now in claims of understanding I just knew just read what it said and put together yeah didn't have no points justjust but the one thing it said that's kept my life seek ye first the Matthew 6:33 and some kind of way is right yes because everything he does pastor Carlene is right it may not feel right to me but it is right and when I do that all the things that we hustle for as a church is filled with men but hustlers China work of a blessing trying to work a prosperity trying to work up success trying to work up a name for yourself trying to be famous trying to be a wonder all the things that I need that will keep me in the path of righteousness he said I don't have to beg for it he I believe that all the way down to the cuticles of my toenail may not have the big chunk of money may not
