so in Ford's trying to work with it they're all in McMurray goes around this caliber end of the field cue trick Paul Menard is in it Clint Boyer is in it Menard is hit by Kasey khane his car is all torn up and McMurray bounces off the wall pulls away there's Tony Stewart his car stopped there's Menard McMurray Hitler are I mean a lot of good cars here this this reminds me of last year we had a very similar situation last year huge benefit for Dale Earnhardt jr. Dale car I guess Kurt Busch heading for pit road in a shower of sparks at 200 miles an hour when one car gets sideways in front of two thirds of the field this is the result well we'll see what started this one that we coming off turn four here all bottled up bunched up all it takes is just a little bit of a tap from somebody from behind see right there it looked like Greg Biffle may have gotten into the back of the one car not sure Jamie McMurray that's in him around and then it's aunt from there he just starts taking out cars left and right Biffle got into McMurray but did Joey Logano give Biffle a shove into McMurray as their champ Kevin Harvick he got damaged Danica come look at her comes to here I don't think she ever makes any contact with anybody no she doesn't she's clean Kyle Busch almost missed it he got it in the left front and Menard got hit about four times [Music] what we got it watches it's the one in the 16 you got to see if the end of 22 it's it's really kind of hard to tell it we know the 16 got into the back of the one I think that's what started it but dig McMurray get into the did Logano get into the back of Biffle McMurray started to slide then caught traction in the car hook to the right leave Matt Kenseth in that 20 car made it through as well let's ride with Jimmy Johnson [Music] [Music] right at the end the 48 gets into the 11 almost made it through just about had it cleared slowing down he wasn't going that fast but Denny Hamlin winner in a three wide finish here last year he's out of the race she sparked there for a lap or two [Music] Tony Stewart goes around and caution waves there to get more cars Kurt Busch and Greg Biffle a hard hit there and he answered your question before that to restart no on this we hit it too hard Greg Biffle pounded the inside wall but he wants to drive it home Kurt Busch will not be so fortunate I don't think yeah that's far enough and Tony Stewart who yesterday had such optimism for the start of this season the leg healthy steward in a great frame of mind doesn't make the checkered flag tonight [Music] all right Kurt Busch puts the window net down and unhooks his helmet the window net down is a signal to safety officials that he is okay now we'll watch Kevin Harvick make a move up high and Casey Mears in the 13 move with him then it's on let's have a look here Kyle Busch on the outside watch the 18 oh looks like the 18 and the 14 made some contact The Clique smoked kind of drifted up in front of Kyle Busch and they made a little contact that turn to 14 right down the hill Jeff Gordon another near miss and Kurt Busch all torn up not sure he could even see the 16 yeah and where he hit that wall here pal where'd the 16 kissing 16 final which one hit at the end of wall I think the 16 did right where that wall curves out just a little bit is right where he hit it left side of your screen Darrell did it looked like the way that the 14 Tony Stewart went across the front of the 18 he just got loose right there it did Larry I'm not sure they made contact but the air off of the 16 is what sucked the 14 around and that is an incredibly hard hit my gosh I'm going and here it here comes yeah neither hurt neither could control their car and I don't think either one could see and piled right in and but you know what I'm so thankful that we got to say four barriers back here now because we didn't always have those ere I think the initial contact Larry was when the 14 started up a little bit and they kind of touched it and that just got the 14 look at the speed of Biffle into that wall what's his thing Wow and Kurt Busch is just a passenger sliding on into it a narrow escape for Jeff Gordon [Music] got down to the bar that's just that's incredible experience not to panic he didn't dry it and jump on the brakes and we're down to a minute and a half here so we're running I mean it's not gonna beat many more laps Denny Hamlin goes to the top of the chart with Austin Dillon sideways and around turn one in the wall and that is Reed Sorenson I think it was that quarter panel and a damage he had to the rear of that car that probably caused that accident Clint Boyer had been trying to get past Sorenson to no avail in this group had really started getting dicey you could start to see it as they were coming off turn four down the front straightaway I just wonder Larry if that flap in the right rear quarter-panel maybe cut his right rear tire down and that's what created this problem will stop the clock in this session this is the fear that these guys all had with this kind of qualifying that there would be some cars that would get torn up by guys trying to make moves that they shouldn't really be making but they're desperate to make running really tight close together ooh look like it looked like Boyer started to go the inside and then shot back to the right and when he did he clipped the back of the 44 of thorns hard to tell from that angle if perhaps Boyer got turned by the car behind him kind of hard to tell it was but these two guys were mad at each other leaving pit road Wow it's the big one straightaway you're right what happened in any event Ken looked like he had a tire down or something broken lies on most everyone piled in Jamie was slow up top that didn't really seem to have anything to do with the know-it-all beginning of that crash right at the bottom right around where james beuscher was grass and the red and black flag was out none of them made it back and on top of that the big one right here in the tri-oval prior to today the only place where big trouble that's the rookie Suarez up and over Regan Smith the big one at Daytona in the tri-oval 42 targets right there I did stop Daniel [Music] Scot laga see window net is down good for him Suarez able to drive his Toyota to the garage second car in just a few hours for that young man up and over for Regan Smith Regan Smith had put himself in great position but he's not going to repeat today Ryan Sieg pulling his car to the garage and Justin marks there's also pulled to a stop in the grass and that's good to see Regan Smith after flipping on the front straightaway here at Daytona climbing from his car let's see if we can see what happens Kyle Busch was pushing the rookie giving him a shove here Kyle Larson excuse me and it looks like he just gets him in a bad spot right there and he just got behind in his steering yeah he got too far to the right and coming off of the corner right there that car unloads as you come off of that banking and it just took just a little bit a little bit too much and that's that window that you have to push and if you get outside of the center of that back bumper the way that these the front and back bumpers are curved it's going to spend that car out remember we said lucky versus good where's chase Elliott watch this and chase is lucky his car still rolling because he has some damage that he's going to have to fix watch this job at the Rheem car the 33 of Austin Dillon does when a teen flips over the 7 holy today Chris Buescher did a heck of a job sneaking through there two in that number 60 cheese at car great job by butcher all day long those are some those are some great pictures we have the best camera men and women in all of sports I mean the images they capture from so far away and they never miss watch this watch the Rheem car the black car third back on the outside he's gonna see this crash developing Regan Smith turns over and he misses him Wow I don't I don't think there was any contact at all between the 33 in the 60 yeah you know Kevin we've heard all the time you got one under you but that's not what they mean right yeah they don't I don't mean you're actually underneath it that's for sure usually that means on your inside exactly literally sitting on the roof damage oh we got some damage on the right rear but that shouldn't hurt him in he they come in put some tape on that and he can go again 27 laps to go at Daytona second caution of the day it's not for a tire getting away it's for a big crash from the front straightaway Aaron and the guys have a chance to gain some momentum on him as this pack catches him think they can't do this for tails around back across the field the big one part 2 at Daytona and I can do this great anybody there a horrific crash for Kyle Busch who slid through the infield grass and went head-on into the inside wall and he is climbing from that car and and that is an unbelievable sight Wow I mean he hit that wall head-on looked like you never even slowed down and that's a there Samantha she probably does not know that he's getting out of the car but that is a great sign and you saw her say thank you and perhaps one of our cameramen sharing the news with her Wow fast car all day long JJ Yeley Tora chase Elliott our defending Series champion there's that there's where it started I don't know how it started but we saw that 20 car of Erik Jones go around first Brian Scott in that top-ten part of the mix he also got damaged and Erik Jones went across the start/finish line in third spine that lap and turned just as the exit did the tri-oval I just looked up late and caught a glimpse of Kyle sliding through the grass and and you see Kyle here being tended to by medical officials and he is alert and obviously talking and that's a great sign but it's got to be an incredibly helpless feeling as a driver when you're sliding through the grass like that and knowing there's not much you can do at that stage well and for us we've been lucky as competitors to see this 40 evolved with the safety and when you when you hit one of those concrete walls and you've been hitting these safer barriers you have no idea the difference in what it feels like and when you hit them head-on like that it is it is a violent violent impact so one more time at what happened kyle is pushing Eric Jones or behind Jones looks like there might have been some contact there there you see Kyle top of your screen now we'll go from our blimp view and there you see Kyle and Eric racing together and just follow that 54 car after the contact with a white 20 like there was some contact there and Kyle bumps into Larson and it turns them to the left Elliott Sadler hit there by Brendan Gaughan and there's the 54 you saw the impact we go on board with Bubba Wallace there comes a jump in the boat down down down down down roll over and in Florida [Music] chase Elliott already beat up from an earlier accident looked like he thought he had it cleared [Music] the 14 of Kell Conley just tried to avoid the crash and when he turned left hit chase Elliott Bell junior working a 23 [Music] here clear beer clear this back it up back it down never let off the gas he and Ty Dillon slide right through great job aric almirola you can see both of them into the wall but they were able to slip through as was Austin Dillon what a great move by Austin to miss the crash and lost in all of this you saw Dale jr. how he laid back didn't get involved didn't get any damage he's the first car one lap down he's gonna get the free pass be back on the lead lap and there will only be a handful of cars on the lead lap when we go back green and that whole wreck started just because you know the cars are light in the trial bo Kyle was was pushing the the 20 car that's very reminiscent of what happened here and right in front of oyer and into the wall hard goes McMurray and Jeff Gordon not again Jeff's cars destroyed it's two weeks in a row for Jeff Gordon being involved in a late race accident and what do we say about these late cautions that kind of lead to cautions it's just the aggression that comes out in these guys and gals want to get late in a race but we've talked about it all day trying to get all you can get on the first couple of laps on brand new tires exactly so if we can determine what happened now here comes the 78 up the middle Denny Hamlin up there against Carl Edwards it's a four car there Harvick on the outside 22 Logano up top come off the corner clean right here whoa Hamlin just he just spins out the car just came around with him nowhere for Newman and 31 to go you see Clint Boyer not 15 barely squeaking by boy but you see Jeff Gordon he almost had that wreck cleared and he caught the front of McMurray's car there and that turned Jeff down the hill well he look at Harvick he's struggling right there and then here comes Hamlin he just spins out no watch this here comes Jeff Gordon come and come and come and bam yeah this almost had it made Jamie McMurray got him and then he hits the inside wall as well for hard leagues man everybody scatters with that hat and that close to the front of the field we're very lucky we didn't have more drivers involved yes we had enough as it was they see Hamlin their trucks didn't cause it but my dad have taken the air off of Hamlin spoiler well you know the spoilers are two inches shorter this year and they were last year but boy Jeff hit that inside wall and that's concrete where he hit it right past the safer barrier Jeff did hit that inside wall where the safer barrier actually ended now Atlanta added over a hundred and thirty feet of softer retaining walls in different places for this race but Jeff Gordon is about the fourth time in the last three years that he his car has found an unprotected hard wall is that what those cars might come off the corner you saw Kevin Harvick get a little squirrely hit ins inside look I know it's a minor little thing Greg Biffle was sideways and everybody ran into him oh my gosh this Ricky Stenhouse and Kyle Larson Regan Smith greg biffle a lot of damage to the rear that 16 car tony stewart damage you know it's just it goes without saying cautions bring cautions now Clint Boyer trying to be way up high and out of the way could that have bottlenecked turn three I'm just thinking it could have Harris Boyer know it's in front of him he hadn't had enough to do with it Joe Nemechek and Biffle get together 16 in the 34 and then everyone else piles in just a big chain reaction yeah so that absolves foot boyer of any blame we're looking back as everybody rushes in Biffle and Nemechek get together there nobody can check up in time know Boyer got hit from behind by the 17 and Stenhouse appears Boyer was warriors just trying to make it to the end I mean he had an engine problem at South down the cylinder just trying to get to the end he was just a victim a cloud of smoke and here they come yeah we didn't have a wreck this big in the Daytona 500 last week well it's to God for a whole bunch got Joe Nemechek doing a nice job today in at 34 car all day long with his adjustments he's got a shot at Austin Dillon here Oh sideways that's Ryan Blaney going sideways what a save and a hard hit nose first for Erik Jones rocker down right there but talked about loose on the inside they're racing for the fifth position Blaney's on the inside in that 22 car and it's just gonna step out on him got a little too much of the apron there and the 20 was coming by and just pulled him around a little bit and he just was able to tires up off the ground what a huge hit you're clear whatever come on cough it down that was a great perspective of what you said looking back from Denny's car and seeing the rear wheels of the 20 pop off the ground of the boom [ __ ] Oh turn one around goes Casey Mears Paul Bedard yeah and the 51 of Justin Allgaier just now that was about a nine car pileup except six drove away Jim Dale jr. was not one of them he's got bigger problems this shifter now the whole nose is caved in and said I'm gonna require radiator and everything else one of those days for the 88 car see what happened here Darrell yeah there's a lot of people involved in the start of this cases the bunch of cars wadded up and they just start accordion and when they do it starts backing up - somebody spends somebody out and then it's just BAM into each other Paul Menards car 88 car here comes Dale jr. paying them right into the back of the panel 70 coming I think the first caution the first contact was between Dale earn excuse me David Ragan and Casey Mears let's ride with Trevor Bayne yellow yellow yellow yellow [Music] well he didn't see anything that's all clear [Music] 13 car casey mears array right behind here not sure how loose he was when David Reagan got to him but that appeared to be the first contact and this was the last yeah destroyed the radiator a little cooler everything in the front of the car way to go but he might make that work [Music] maybe not why Edwards got a big run in that nineteen officer Johnson in the jack from Bush here they all come everybody on the brakes Chris butcher piles in the back of Danica Patrick Alex Bowman goes around and you see how quickly this speedway clogs up when things go wrong for sure but you know what with all that happened I don't think anybody gotten any serious damage yep for the third and fourth-place driver to have that happen a miracle we didn't have a big crash what cars got running into Danica got spun around there but I swear I don't think anybody got any serious damage Jimmie Johnson Kurt Busch let's see how this happened yeah well you got the 41 to 48 going down the back right here side by side 41 just pushed up into the 48 Jimmie Johnson and the 41 goes around in front of the field and watch these guys scatter another than Danica getting spun out it was pretty much just a couple of cars getting spun out [Music] let's ride with race leader Carl Edwards [Music] that's way too close for God he had to keep going or he gets run over from behind so what an incredible job mic that caution a huge break for those drivers that took that wave around what happened here's what Kurt Busch said [Music] like his attitude he said Oh turn four but Murray got pounded by Josh wise boy I ran into him here they come Danica Patrick gets turned to turn four again this time she keeps going and against the wall is Michael Annett don't know what happened to McMurray's car but it's almost like he just stopped and got pounded he blew a tire were told ninth caution flag left for 73 two cars ahead is the one [Music] so wise employer were just victims of again oh yard attire pop wow how quickly things change and there's just nowhere to go you're running so close together you're running so fast there's no stopping distance at all if anything happens you're a part of it now the 11 will catch Ricky Stenhouse right there Stenhouse hard on the brakes and then a net gets into Erik Jones that's Josh wise sideways on the racetrack the accordion effect it just back step back back back back Biffle another near miss the last time we had one in turn four he just got by shoots free of traffic Tony Stewart games three spots up the hill goes Edwards he's in the fence he's plowing by Kurt Busch are you kidding me Stenhouse gets turned around Edwards is a mess re and here they come to the caution flag at lap 493 unbelievable yeah Kurt he had a head of steam and there just was nowhere to go couldn't stop no he couldn't stop in him Carl was down on the bottom and he just got loose and walked up the hill pretty serious damage to the 19 and 41 is killed let's sort this out Darryl yeah I think you'll see Carl he just carries it down into turn one pretty hard trying to clear Jeff Gordon see what happens he gets loose gets get a little loose getting in he's trying to get up in front of Gordon can't quite make it tries to stay off of Gordon and a car catches and shoots in the outside wall and here comes Kurt running wide open well when Carl got loose how close he came to get in Jeff Gordon's left rear twenty seven and fifty one spin to the inside you're riding a car [Music] all right looking down from turn one he's a little bit loose before he got to the corner looked like he was trying to turn the car down and Gordon's on the outside and got him a little bit loose before we even got to the corner and then Carl just couldn't hang on the car shot up the hill and here comes trouble Allgaier and Menard spin to the inside two guys that have had great runs tonight kept their nose clean [Music] babe I mean hitting my turn sam hornish got turned around the number nine what a mess that right there my friend is the Bristol stomp and it all happened so fast watch call just a little bit right here exists a little loose when he got down there [Music] and there's the damage to Kurt Busch so now we have 13 lead lap cars the drivers behind them that they're coming this oh here goes Daniel Suarez Joey GaSe right around John West alley starting to come down pit road already gone with sideways on the pit lane oh my goodness so unfortunate these guys are having such a tough time getting to pit road today ty Dillon one of those that had issues the first time they came Jeff they were single-file that time being fat beside in a in two rows someone just made a mistake coming to pit road yeah it's so frustrating for me right being up here watching because it's so unnecessary for this thing it doesn't take rocket science to figure out how to get to pit road but you've got guys on the inside lane they should know that the cars in front of them are pitting but yet they're choosing to either not check up and give some more space or get to that outside lane to get around those cars and then there's contact and here we see a big crash as you're trying to get to pit road Brendan Gaughan look like made heavy contact to the inside of pit wall there's our buddy Kenny Wallace he's involved in this accident Todd Dillon as well ty got spun around on pit road I don't think his damage is significant but continuing to be a challenging day for that three car on pit road I can't wait to see the replay to see where the 3 car was and all that this will give us a good view of it Jeff looking from the Goodyear blimp down on what happened somewhere back in this area Daniel Suarez was involved in it there's gonna be someone that doesn't get the memo that cars are pitting Suarez locks up he gets hit in the back by the 39 of Ryan Sieg and just chain reaction from there and I also I think maybe it was aric almirola he was still in that outside lane as they started peeling off and they're you know you really need to get below that that yellow line in order to give room for all those cars that aren't hitting and so to me is a combination of of an accordion effect things coming up fast in that one car not getting below the yellow line second week in a row that gone has a scary moment on pit road last week the fire at Richmond today wrecked as he came down pit road and right here with Suarez you can see he gets hit in the back Joey GaSe was into the back of Ryan Sieg John Wes Townley gets clobbered and watched the job that ty Dillon does coming through here he's slowing down slowing down Brendan's out of control he's going to try to thread the needle between the two cars crashing on pit road and gets hit by gone in the left are pretty hard Jeff Paul it's unfortunate you know he did such a great job coming down coming down pit road and big impact by Brendan Gaughan into that hit wall you know that wall is really not built to take that kind of a high-speed impact on board with Daniel Suarez so there was either the white car that was up in the middle of the groove I'm pretty sure that that is is that not the 98 of a Merle I'm not sure exactly who that was but whoever that car was they just needed to get below the yellow line a little bit sooner riding with Daytona winner Ryan Reed he just about got through there so many anxious moments in these green flag pit stops so much going on to try to get to pit road Brendan Gaughan and hit the wall came off made contact with ty Dillon who slides to a stop but some contact there is wet well on the left rear he might be all right Jeff didn't look like much under caution for the third time today his drivers were coming to pit road to make scheduled green flag pit stops here at Talladega [Music] Logano Larry what do you see here with 16 go there we go Darrell Wallace jr. around for ty Dillon he just can't stay out of trouble today but he keeps that thing headed in the right direction Kasey Kahne involved who all on for Kasey Kahne looks like like got a piece of the action chat boat had pushed up into that top 10 as well doing a heck of a job before collecting that accident I thought I just saw him make a big bold move from the outside to the inside lane and I'm not sure if maybe that hole closed up sixth caution of the day they were coming back through the tri-oval where they were gonna see 15 laps to go right now Kasey Kahne is gone hmm maybe I won't volunteer to come to Talladega for the Xfinity race again next year I will tell you this I talked to him yesterday and he couldn't wait to start this race he said I'm gonna I'm gonna win this baby I'm gonna lead every lap well maybe not every one but I'm gonna win it and now he's gonna polish smoke he officially just started thinking about the Sprint Cup race on Sunday right yes he did there's boat in the center in that 84 car you say you seem a seem him make a big move Jeff yeah I thought then I saw him he lost his mom in oh yeah I just lost his momentum there and looks like ty just got into his left rear a little bit and turned him around want a tough break for Darrell Wallace jr. ty Dillon just nowhere to go there look at Boris said in Mario Gosselin they're just sliding right through the middle of all that carnage that mess and they make it through Peyton sellers was right there in the 97 you know making it through these accidents like this I mean that's a make your day type of situation when you make it through these types of crashes I mean that that could possibly be implications in the point system in your maybe giving you a shot at winning this race here before we get to the end how bad is the damage on the three car you know it to me did not look all that bad when you consider what he went through well he took a big Oh shot to the left rear on pit road from his teammate Brendan Gaughan and it fought his way back into contention wonder if he can survive this one and still have a decent day yeah and this is this is when a championship team has to shine right I mean they've got to go through all these different things and get through the adversity and and really be well collected and well organized as a team and and climb their way out of what's been a very difficult day to still make some good points out of it some unbelievable work by the camera folks here at NASCAR on Fox we thank you for all you do what are they saying for ty Dillon it's been a long day for them Vince well it has indeed and Jeff Gordon made a great point in Dani Stockman the crew chief told me before the race we want to win that's the goal but if something happens to we're not in position to win we've got to maximize the day and maximize the points from a championship perspective just as Jeff was saying he took damage to the left front on that hit the hood brace on the left side is broken in the hood has buckled up a bit so they have to tend to that left front issue also a lot of debate you know Jeff is in trouble back straightaway guys car around Trevor Bayne a number of cars and more Lagasse crashing all oh man it looked like half the field piled up on lap 47 bottom into the right or left for your turn to come back that's assault Menard coming off and turn to over there and he was flying he had a big feeling to hurt with a fast race car sorry guys that was Trevor Bayne talking Paul Menard in the 27 had a big run on the number six of Trevor Bayne man there's the 18 car of Regan there's a 5 car of Cain but watch this watch this 27 car back here watch him got a heck of a run coming coming coming [Music] kasia's 60 started to turn all by itself I mean it's but Darrell do you think the 27 car being out there on the outside it just pulled the back end of Trevor Bayne six car around it had to Larry because the car was not in any there was nobody around him except that 27 closing fast the air off the 27 obviously affected the 6c right here he gets a big run coming coming you got to think that's Tony Stewart down bellowing he's got cars on both side of him and then Kurt Busch got into Bayne him to the wall he went Wow and once Landon Cassill gets sideways to the field along with Kyle Larson and Greg Biffle there's nowhere to go now these guys have all told me that these cars in certain situations are really really loose and hard to hang on to and with that 41 down looking under the knee underneath of the six and Danica got a shot [Music] a big pile up at Talladega will sort it all out for you when we come back a big pile of a Talladega you're riding with Greg Biffle Trevor Bayne into the outside wall and a good bit of damage on Biffle sport there's Kyle Larson Chevrolet and another look at it we'll ride with Kevin Harvick through this melee on the backstretch at Talladega Crafton sits right there and we've got two together Jessie little in the 97 involved and we got more contact deeper in the field Townley involved the 63 is in there a Justin Jennings Mason Mingus was involved as well and we've got our third caution see if we can take a look at what happens here see Jesse's on the inside looks like he did he push up a little bit got into Mason Mingus and then squeezes him into the outside wall I think a little bit of both Phil I think you take another look at it looked like Mason Mingus was on the outside Jessie little hook like Todd he may have may have pushed up a little bit had to chase his truck up the hill just a little bit yeah exactly so I think you know he saw Mason slide up in the middle of court and he wanted to take advantage of so he tried to drive down there Mason came down at the same time Jesse was pushing then he got air loose sucked around and there he go both in the wall you know that's that's one of those things that Dover he's jesse done a lot experience here Mason's don't have very much either they were really really close we mase it had pushed up the hill and jesse was trying to go for the spot you can't fault the kids for that you know and that's just one of the things that happens at Dover I mean it just tightens down on exit you know Mason wants to come down get a straighter shot off I wish I could explain to everybody at home how hard these restarts are went when that rubber starts going on oh man that's the crash there goes Brian Scott hard into the wall Scott sliding down the racetrack and pounded by the 55 of Jamie dick yeah and that's just a classic situation of what we've been talking about all day you get underneath that car and it gets in the corner and it gets loose and you have to run it up the race actor to to save it and unfortunately for Brian in the 22 and a 55 caused a big wreck they were racing for eighth and we were on board with Scott you could just tell that both window nets are down and that's a good sign because when you hit it Dover it is always hard he's looking forward to chatting with Brian throughout the day and it's disappointing this is a track that he loves we talked about that truck Series win and how fast and competitive he is here at Dover miss big for the third the 22 team 31 consecutive top-10 finishes for them dating to Michigan last year that's the last time they finished outside the top ten 10th the last week at Charlotte Ryan Blaney a big hit and he's on pit road and Ryan Scott climbing from his car it's gonna be the end of that streak that cars tore it pretty good yeah it looked like the rear and housing was bit back a bit let's see if we can take a look from outside the cars we could tell inside of we're gonna be good and you can see Blaney on the bottom gets a little bit loose on the exit it gives Brian Scott the inside oh yeah I don't I don't really know what happened there but they they make contact before they got to the corners like the 22 came down a little bit and got to got into the side of the 2 but that started for the 22 in turn four when he touched the apron and when he touched the apron right there yeah I'm with you I can't really tell what hat looked like that maybe the 22 just went to turn in the normal corner and and Brian was still going straight a bit yeah it definitely seemed like the 22 came down and got that got into the side of the 2 and that just caused that whole mess then you have Jamie dick coming in there and it's so hard to get stopped when here you're going this fast being a self-cleaning racetrack and with that banking when you're up high you're gonna slide down low and with oncoming traffic as you said there's just nothing you can do it's just you know it looks like you could change directions and miss people but you just simply can't I think back to Bristol and how tough it is to get slowed down and stopped you're one of the greatest race car drivers in the world you couldn't quite make that move it's them it's nearly impossible at times to just abruptly change directions when you're running a hundred fifty down into a corner how bad is it on the 22 Ryan Blaney Vince well it is bad the truck arm broke they're headed to the garage they've also got a left side track bar mount that's broken so he is just making a lap around of the track just to make an entry into the garage they got to fix it back behind the wall talked about their 31 consecutive top tens last two years one the owners championship tough break early for Team Penske at Dover got you pretty good as any got that way they turn right into you frustration for Ryan Blaney started on the pole yesterday in the Camping World Truck Series race finished inside the top ten hoping for a better effort today under caution for the third time a hard hit and turn two here at Dover [Music] look at Sadler come we haven't talked about Elliot all day long that car is running well lately going Oh Menard sideways and he's gonna kiss the wall they scatter to miss him in somehow everyone does but they're wrecking here that's Conley in the black 14 sideways through the grass and also the 16 of Ryan Reed 8th caution of the day and it takes out one of the drivers that had a chance at victory Paul Menard and Jeremy Clements and the 51 got damaged as well that team has been on a roll lately look like he got the worst end of it all 51 cars tore up severely on both ends and Menard stays over obviously as well tougher that 33 who was a part of the owners championship equation Austin Dillon has been able to take that car to Victory Lane twice this year you see the window net down as safety officials arrive on the scene of that 51 car driven by Jeremy Clements a team that has been as I said so good lately and always over achieves week in and week out looks like they're stopping them on the back straight - well we're inside of 15 to go so NASCAR wants to get this mess yeah there's a lot of grass across the front straight I'm sure they think they're thinking you know let's clean it up keep the track clear it's safer for the corner workers safer for everybody and then it gives us more racing like we've seen which is exactly what we all signed up for and I'll tell you that we had that heavy overnight rain here and that's what created all that debris on the front straightaway that Danica talked about and there's a good sign in the fan giving a loud cheer to Jeremy Clements who's climbed from his racecar will walk to the ambulance and take that mandatory ride to the infield care center definitely with all that overnight rain and staying here at the track in my bus I know there was a lot of rain it's just it's muddy it's soft the splitter digs in makes a mess you don't you don't stay on top of hard hard dirt you're sinking in and you can see the debris littering that infield grass and it's exactly what you said you get down in there it's that soft it's just gonna tear parts and pieces off of your vehicle well especially at a place like Michigan where it's so fast so pretty much smooth you're getting that car down as far as it can go and you know unfortunately there's no room for no room for soft grass in that eighth caution of the day turns into our first red flag and you saw Paul Menard parked on pit road the team surveying the damage getting ready to make repairs but NASCAR rules prohibit them from working on the car under Ed they can formulate a plan but they can't touch the vehicle until we go back under caution and that will look back at what happened Menard just gets loose it looks like when in Elliott Sadler went up it took the air off Menards car and a roundy win Paul might not have been expecting Elliott to come up so much in the corner and it just enough to push him up that Jeremy Clements car he had bounced off the inside wall and then into Menard watch the 51 car of Clemens there he is far right of your screen got turned and this camera angle doesn't pick that up there you see him caroming off that inside wall that michael talked about what a ricochet that was for that young man I was feeling once when stock cars crash they're like footballs you just don't know where they're gonna go and especially here it's a pretty flat track they could end up anywhere you go to a place like we were couple weeks ago Dover it cleans low but here it's there everywhere yeah I thought it was the 33 the 14 in the 16 that got all the damage and then Jeremy Clements kind of came out of nowhere and he really had the hardest impact of all because of that hit on the inside wall just about where you would make your exit from the racetrack onto the pit lane and that was a bad angle for him to hit to it a car really was going fast when he hit that safer barrier thank goodness for the safer barriers they've certainly cushioned that blow for him but it was significant you know I would have said that for Joey and Kyle de to Pitt like they did and lose all that track position I thought I you know is that is that gonna allow Chris Buescher to just kind of drive away with it but just shows how impressive they are as drivers to be able to go from I think 12th and 13th of your stand second I mean that's no problem at all yeah this is a problem for that small team there though they like you said Adam been on quite a roll and to have the car destroyed which it is that's a that's a boy that team will have to have to stomach man we're getting ready for that busy summer stretch of races in the NASCAR Xfinity series a lot of work ahead for the guys in the 51 camp red flag is out at Michigan Joey Logano is the race leader's in Watkins Glen this is short track this track races like a short track tight turn stop and go forward bite Watkins Lillian is fast lot of speed Gilliland is in the tire wall and at turn 10 this will be a full course caution man the first one of the day the two times Southwest Tour winner here went in deep into the tyre wall yeah he goes 21st nose you're into those tires the window net is down the indication to safety personnel that he is ok we talked about what a tough fast corner this is have a look just gets out wide here and once you get off the track you're done and wow what an incredible I mean that's a sudden stop and look how he knocked all those tires loose that's huge and we've talked about turn 11 being the slowest corner at 30 miles per hour that's one of the fastest parts of the racetrack yeah I got to think something happened that car David Gilliland told his crew that coming into turn 10 the left front tire let go she Tommy we Larry nailed it these drivers a lot of loose term I NAT the nd like right and Edwards there they go into the wall hard you were saying yes lose their mind and in the process they probably going to lose their car but these cautions right here that's what Johnson and those guys need they'll be able to say plenty of fuel they were banking on this Larry I mean they're smart like that look you study trends they study trends oh my broad over pull it over that's a nuts it looks like maybe busted the wall cool I got some oil coming out on the headers Wow Darrell that was just way more than push comes to shove yeah I know it's just crazy here's a look at what brings out the fourth caution of the day you'll see Carl Edwards way on the outside but by himself now he's got to fight for some room this is the same place that the 78 in the 55 had trouble this time though this the 19 of Carl Edwards bounced over those curves and bounced into David Ragan that was a battle for seventh or battle for sixth actually and because of the odd impact an odd angle they catched the jersey barriers before the tire pack right there Jamie Carl Edwards said I'm fine guys I'm just trying to start it you saw he did fire it up crew chief Darian Grubb said well if you stay in there try to bring it back to the garage and we will take a look at it but as you see Carl Edwards now it looks like he has climbed from his race car and there is David Reagan
