Big Rig Sleeping Is Better Than You Think | Time for Trucks Extra

I wanted to get the full trucking experience so to do that you have to remember that these trucks aren't just work to lure a vehicle for a lot of the people who drive them but they're also a home for a lot of long-haul truckers for days and sometimes weeks at a time so I asked Volvo if they would be able to give me a sleeper cab truck that I can actually try spending the night in and they did and the sleeper cabs you get like blackout curtains for the windows this will actually accommodate two people there's actually two bunks there's a second bunk that you can drop down from the top here so over on this side we've got like your pantry ish area or your galley you've got a little microwave up in here so you can you know whip up your you know frozen burritos and whatever the hell's you're gonna make refrigerator right now it's stocked with you know nothing above the refrigerator there's a little drawer with like a desk surface putting a storage room drink holders up here cup holders more power outlets there's these cigarette cigarette lighter style 12-volt power outlets everywhere because that's kind of the default plug of the the truckin universe you don't have to idle the engine while you're sitting here because it has a little auxiliary power unit that gives you heat or a/c as needed and power for all this stuff so you access to the whole radio and the sound system climate power outlets everything from right here you notice I've got the heat down to 65 that's because it is hot as hell in here because we had it up to 72 this looks like we can open it up is like a vent window if we want to is another window up there so the real test of whether you can call anything an actual home is will it play an old outdated video game system in some nice large display I'm happy to say about this Volvo truck is is yes yes it will I've got a Super Nintendo here and if you'll notice I've got two plugged into the built-in display here and I can happily play old 16-bit video games until I you know pass out but the space is really well used in here I don't think it'll be any problem to sleep and considering how small a space this is you've got a pretty full little camper going on here and I am really excited I love it [Music] [Applause] [Music] Hey so good morning I am spent the night here in the Volvo sleeper cab and it's pretty great I got no complaints at all mattress is super comfy I was able to watch the Love Bug on the little TV with you know USB Drive the heater works really well actually kind of - well it's cold out I had it set to like 69 or 70 and I woke up about 4 cuz it was so high in here so if you have one of these keep the heat low it's it gets really warm so it's very effective you know this this works really well beds very comfortable I got I got no complaints you could totally sleep in this thing no problem even if it was driving a MIDI to be even more soothing it's an impressive truck No I'm gonna go back [Music]

If you buy your own matress and your bunk heater works. Most company trucks won't idle to run hvac and you usually supply the amenities like this one has.

This video doesn't really potray a trucker every day experience by the way. I was an "Over the road" truck driver for 5+ years before recently going local. AMA if anyone has any questions.
