Big Reveal Brother Luminaire XP2 with Angela Wolf! Part 1 of 4

hi everyone barbara from allvrands.com a family owned business since 1976 and today we are so excited because brother just released a new line of products and this is video one of four that we're going to be doing live and our special guest today is angela wolf she's backstage and she'll be coming in quite shortly but let's say hi to everyone real quick let us know where you're watching from of course hi kelly hi lisa hi dan oh my gosh uh angela i'm gonna bring you in if that's okay and here she is hi hi marco how are you i'm doing awesome and i'm so excited how about you i'm very excited i i actually had to try to find a clean corner you know why i'm so excited because all these new products are out and now when i go live i don't have to run around and make sure the camera isn't i've had the privilege of working on one of our new products for about a month now and now i don't have to run around and hope that my camera gets a glimpse of it oh i love it we have so many people watching do you want to say hey to a few folks hey well fact i see a ton of wolfpack rolling in susan melody melissa hey girls i love it thank you everyone for joining us today and i'm so excited we have a new announcement a new machine actually a few new machines so we just had we're a brother dealer um and we just did our virtual b2b the first one that was virtual which yeah usually we're having lunch together right now i know but that's okay because we get to communicate to the world instead i think it's better in a way but my brother released a new machine it's the luminaire xp2 sewing quilting and embroidery machine and for those of you who have the luminaire xp-1 there's an upgrade they also have a new multi-needle machine and two new uh scanning cuts and even more accessories for scanning cut yeah no i think when you just mentioned that though i think one of the best things this time though is everyone who jumped on the xp1 the luminaire one this time the upgrade is everything that the luminaire 2 has so they don't miss anything which is awesome yes i love that brother does that you don't have to buy the brand new machine to get all of the new features so thank you so much brother at your side which one are you the most excited about so far all of them you know i i was like quickly opening the boxes because we literally just got these machines in and so like i basically stayed up all night shooting videos so if i act a little crazy today that's why um but i was shooting the videos on these machines and i did the xp the xp2 first the luminaire this one that's behind me but it's beautiful it's so beautiful i didn't know you're fine but i think i'm really excited about the multineedle 2 because it has a lot of the features as the xp2 now so i guess it just depends on if you want to do a business or if you want to also sew in quilt there's just a little bit for everyone so my goodness so do you want to just talk a little bit about what's different with the the machine sure actually i have my machine plugged in can i take you over there and just show you a couple cool things on there yeah okay i'll do that okay it's easier visually if i just talk everyone will go to sleep really bye all right girl this is it so i'm just going to just on the surface angela there's a little bit of difference there's a new logo with mickey on the front and i'll bring you in close without making you dizzy luminaire too yeah i love it and there's a new blue bar around the faceplate of the machine which is really neat too i had to bring you to a clean corner of my studio barbara it's a pretty much of a hotline right now i've been taping a lot of videos for a few weeks yeah all right so let me um just show you on the screen a couple just i mean there's a gazillion cool things on here but i'll just give you a couple of my favorites i have a list too so whenever you run out of things to say um i can chime in too because there's just so many new things so exciting won and then i'll let you go so one because you know i sell a lot well actually there's about two of my favorite favorite but oh i guess i shouldn't number it anymore so i already have it i already hooked mine up to wi-fi which is so cool and it has the option on here i think it would page i don't remember what page anyways you can have it where it automatically updates which i love and i just have to show one thing on the sewing side because that's you know my mojo i love the sewing side we still have the projector which i think you'll be able to see are you going to talk about the new features on the projector yay my favorite part so we still have the protector except there's a couple new things on here now so remember how you could use this um to just go from design design and you can actually see it on here so when you pick a decorative stitch for those of you i remember i showed somebody this last year and they were like why would you do that and i said well because here's one good reason i'll just use my hand because it'll show the decorative stitch on here and you can actually see it let me just grab a piece of fabric i thought you'd be able to see on that but you can't wait so genie asks how big is the throat space it is um let's see it's the same as the luminaire i think it's i guess would help if i put batteries in 13 inches from needle to neck so very long arm machine very you know what i did i forgot to put a battery hold on i'll grab my other one i got please but um yeah this is a really cool feature so this is still my favorite so can you see can you see the blue on there because you can change the colors so you can see better on here i love this feature because i do a lot of top stitching on my garmin's and now i can see exactly what the stitch looks like which we had before but it's just a little bit more new and improved and you can change adjust the size on there and also right on the screen here you can change the color and you can turn it off right from there so you don't even have to move and that's a new enhancement that wasn't on the xp one that was not so i'll let you sure i'll share my other favorite on that okay um okay so my next favorite thing is the uh i think the big thing is okay so everybody knows snowman sticker like the little uh fur embroidery there's a new sticker for this machine and it's called the snow ball i was going to see if they could guess it but snowman what would it be like i can demonstrate it but i'm going to have to go backstage to switch my camera for just a moment if you don't mind angela i don't mind a bit okay i'll be right back i have all my snowman stickers guys and so uh my nephews are coming to visit and so i've got my snowman and my snowball stickers and the big joke is when walked in here and said if you leave those around you are going to have dots everywhere so um you still get the amazing accessory case of course if you can see that with this don't you love how it just fits so nicely that's how i keep myself organized it's so and everything fits in there oh you have your knee lifter attached do you know i had somebody the other day ask me what a knee lifter was and i see it's attached to your machine yeah so when you're in sewing and for those of you who don't use a knee lifter it's so important to keep your hands on the fabric at all times so you don't lose contact with the um fabric so you don't have to like move your hand and then something's going to slide out of the way because of the weight so this is the snowball sticker so let me see if i can remember how to get to this one and this is so new to me angela so let's see i think it's in here let's see right no yeah yeah it's at the bottom bottom right okay it's changing we're all learning together so look at the stickers guys can you imagine you get a whole sheet of these stickers can you imagine my nephews with those oh my gosh so i'm on the edit screen and i'm going to go ahead and turn off the projector so it's the last option on edit now which is this and it's i guess sewing in point function so you can say i want my if you measure like pre-measure your fabric you put this and you can mark it if you like but you put the sticker wherever you want the stitch to stop exactly you can put it under the machine and there's two lines projected already on the machine right and then yeah and a close-up of where you are on that screen so the of that one button that you're touching move to a super close-up so um i was stitching like with the with this in my previous videos i was stitching with this sticker right in front of the foot but if you offset it to the side that you don't have to stitch over the foot which is nice so yeah so let's just say i want to end there it's projecting two lines on my stitch and you could do this with decorative stitch straight stitch let's see i need to back up just a little bit yeah judy says make them stickers on the scanner cut they can help so i'm going to start stitching and then it's automatically going to start slowing down and then stop exactly where i need it so i did there's an option to stop to remove the sticker or you can turn that feature off um and then you just press start again press okay and then it goes all the way to the end and then it automatically stops oh my goodness look at that i love that because you know when i'm doing top stitching on jackets and things like that so look at how perfect that is a lot of times you're trying to get right to the corner i'll put a little chalk mark or something like that as a guide but now you can use the sticker and it reflects those lines and you'll stop right where you want to stop and you don't have to count stitches anymore i mean i always have to count to get around the corner to keep them isn't that awesome barbara i i love it okay i'm going to zoom back out again so i'm going to switch my cameras for a moment i i saw your guys comments about the stickers yeah oh um the top behind me is one of the ones i've been embroidering all week yes it is and the other one is coming that's what i was working on today thanks for voting everyone by the way okay so the next feature that is really cool is the hexagon shape for auto split of sashing features and brother just came out with the brand new magmatic frame called the hoop kinetic so that you can easy yeah and it's going to be available for the multi noodle and for the xp 2 and you can purchase it additionally when you do your xp1 upgrade so current xp1 uh users can use that as well yeah and i don't it i don't think it comes with the xp2 it's an additional accessory i think correct correct yes yeah sorry not everybody moved it but i'll tell you what it's pretty cool i have it back here let me show you it yeah that would be great all right oh my gosh that's so cool i love that i just happen to have some fabric laying around so just a little bit of fabric but okay so i i'm not like a huge quilter everybody saw the big joke about that during our live shows so a couple things that i really like about this machine is that i can okay let's i'm just going to use this like a big old wad like this a fabric okay what if you're using a big quilt and you need to get this in well a couple of things this is magnetic so here's the little handle and these pop off so it's not one big magnet it's a bunch of little ones all right i'm learning too thank you angela well i you know i haven't used this much yet because i've been working on those videos and i haven't gotten to this section yet so i'll be the one that'll be a goofball if something happens so these just lift up and they are they just pop back on just like that or keep popping on so there's a couple tricks to the trade if i get my arm out of the way let's see i wanted to make sure that you guys could see this okay so if you let me bring this out just a little bit more all right so the idea here is if you're doing something that's really long a big quilt or even you know where i we haven't showed the other secret thing yet but i'm seeing doing trims on jackets and things like that you can have your big whatever you're using why don't i just use one piece of fabric that's kind of too much what happens is you can slide your fabric you don't have to go and re-hoop which is really cool usually you have to take everything out re-hoop line it up this way so this just sits on here there's no upper hoop i just have to remember which one goes where so they have little arrows in here and the arrows face towards the inside okay and you just basically slide your fabric and it snaps in place all right there's the arrow make the arrows are facing in and notice i'm just sliding my fabric to keep it flat see how easy that is so if you had a big bulky quilt or a big jacket that you're working on you know i'm always going to the garment side this is going to be fantastic so then you just take again arrows so you put all your big ones down first at least that's what i've been doing and where's the other one oh that's funny i guess these are all the same i just moved them around what if they get mixed up yeah and it's totally fine because they're all basically the same because i just didn't know which one and then you have little ones and then the little ones just slide on just like that so see how you can keep it nice and flat this is about the flattest i've ever had layers of fabric before i'm impressing myself on this one okay so and then i just need to slide these down a little bit very easy the only thing you can make sure are the arrows facing in yeah so the size of this frame for the xp2 is 7 inches by 12 inches i believe and it's better than the other brands of magnetic hoops because it comes off in these little pieces so you don't have this big thing that you're trying to slap down on you know the back side of the frame and i think you you can smooth it out easier and then you can do the cool thing you can leave this in the machine and using the big or the small i think probably the small ones let's just say that you were finished embroidering or you're embroidering your quilting or whatever you're doing on there because that's another cool thing you can take these off while it's in the machine so you don't have to take this off the hoop and guess what if you leave those two little ones on here like this you can slide this down now this is the part i haven't done before but it's pretty slick so you can just slide this down and notice it's staying everything's staying even so pretend this was a really long piece see how i'm just pulling that so yeah if this was a really long piece i can just put the magnets back on and i'm ready to go um people are asking what if you can use these on other machines so if you ask brother they're going to say it's only available for the luminaires but i can tell you as a brother dealer the slide on portion is the same as the dream machine the stellar and all that you just have to do a trace of your pattern because it's not going to be recognizable in the machine so that's just something better for that um but it's you can use it for any kind of like re-hooping multiple hooping i'm thinking of so many different things i can use that magnetic frame for yeah and you know once you get to the next cool thing this is going to be really fun for that because you can just keep continuously embroidering and you don't have to like take everything off the hoop you just keep sliding it and i mean i'm thinking uh a whole side leg of pants i mean i'd have to open the inside of the pants to do that but i love designing my own fabric and this is going to just make it a little bit easier i think faster and more efficient which i'm all about yeah so i can show the sashing on the machine if you like oh i love the statue but then also um not only like for the sashing which automatically helps you to line it up easier when you have the luminaire you have a projector in it and you have the um camera so you can use those for even non-sashing designs which i would totally use like like i'm thinking like bedding home deck like curtains with a continuous design and just using the projector it's just so amazing so for me the bedding which is similar to you know quilting i have a couple really cool things like that that are really thick we have some of our winter jackets that um that i would never even attempt to hoop and now i can just slide it in put our little wooden angel logo for fishing and my husband's gonna think this is so cool but before i just never did that on my on my other machines so this is gonna be fun i forgot to ask you how the hell the fish are biting right now fish are good except guess what today wind went out fishing and the guy's on his boat his engine wasn't working right and they weren't catching fish and somebody pulled out a banana for breakfast that's a no-no no bananas on the boat i didn't know that is that bad luck it's bad luck it's bad luck and i called my nephew and had him call uncle in he says it's illegal on deck it just is a bad luck for fishing it's just uh at least it's on our boat i love it but it is true so fishing's good so now i gotta get some logos um i'm gonna do some with this new magnetic frame so i'll be able to get our thicker jackets on and then with some of the new things on the scanning cut i've been doing some new vinyl embroidery or vinyl cutting oh my gosh i don't want to distract too much from that but we can say that the scan and cut is going to have an auto vinyl blade which cindy and i will be demonstrating tomorrow which is going to be really fun yay so that's really exciting everyone's saying that they're they're loving brothers new technology um delia says they're so clever to think of such great technology and i agree i think that they're the forefront in technology with all of the manufacturers so that brings us to our next feature sashing um do you want me to show that well you while you show yours i will go ahead and put the frame in so then when you're finished i can show how it projects onto the fabric perfect okay i'm going to move my camera around so i'll be right back okay okay while you're doing that show everybody what i made my niece this week okay while i've been playing with some of the new stuff which is why you guys you might get a different corner of my studio for the last month but look what i made my little knees i didn't make the bag i bought the bag i was cheap two didn't have enough time but i did this on the scanner cut isn't that cute and i did this for the boys to hold all of their toys when they come to my house i know i'm really addicted to that cutting the michael it's like a new new thing for me that i never used to do much but now i'm really doing oh okay so i have my sewing foot on now so okay so this is you'll notice just on the surface of the screen i'm sorry i'm like jumping all over the place but there is a couching um it comes with the two couching feet in the box with the machine and it comes with all of these couching designs and i have a sample that i can show you i haven't even looked at those yet i haven't gotten that far they're beautiful here they are um oh those are smaller there's actually 40 different patterns and that's using it through embroidery but you can it also comes with a couching foot for sewing so this is couching if you can see that it's like a yarn or decorative thread and this is one of the embroidery couching designs so if you have the xp one with the one upgrade um that's this feature um and then that's what it looks like on the back so you don't want to know what coaching is barbara i'm sorry lucille wants to know what coaching is okay so couching is where you take uh yarn or decorative thread and you sew through it to make a design so i could do this manually by sewing or there's embroidery patterns that you can tack the yarn down through embroidery so if you have yarn laying around which i have a lot of this is coaching is one of my favorites oh my gosh i can dig that out of my accessory pack in a moment but um i did want to show you the sashing because um that's new and exclusive to this machine so before you only had like 10 sashing patterns and you'll see that um it looks like a little square but basically you can make these any size you want which is wonderful so instead of 10 now there is 20 in the first category in the second category there's a two color designs so you can use like to have dimension to your borders and now they have hexagons so my wheels are turning with that do you have any ideas on yeah well the hexagon i just think is going to be so cool because you i mean i would use it on garments actually the back of a jacket things like that handbags pillows all that stuff but those right before that where you said there's two different colors to that um yes the two different colors i am seeing a beautiful trim on my jacket sleeves a trim on my jacket i mean i can think of so many cool things for that i love this i'm thinking um linens and bedding and tablecloths and things that all match together oh that would look good or even like the curtains to do running on curtains so once you find a design that you like it'll give you the option to do if you want to just do four different hoopings or even more hoopings to make a bigger design and it i'll just do the easier one to show you so it gives you like you can select how wide and how tall you want your design here and then how big you want the actual embroidery pattern to be so say i'm doing like a tablecloth which i don't know a four foot tablecloth 48 inches maybe uh let's see oh i did the smaller version so we're going to do 30. let's see 30 by 30. and i think this part is so important because i've had people say before i don't understand how to put those measurements in and it's this easy it just tells you number one two and how wide everything is and that's it and you also can pick your hoop on there so you know it will fit inside your hood yeah so i'm gonna do it like two inches and then you would select your hoop size here and click next let's see and then it's going to show me the four quadrants of how it's going to work and you can even change your colors in here and you can make it triple stitch that's that that's another cool feature that because i love the triple stitch i use it for all my decorative stitching and when i saw the triple stitch with that that's when i thought that's going to look gorgeous on a garment um pam you can resize the rectangle yup yup that's really cool and then another great thing about this machine is it has the multiple brands of thread so say i wanted to change my thread color here i could go to color and now it has the brother country madeira poly madeira rayon sulky robus and anton paulie that's right iso cord gutermin pacesetter pro oh my gosh so many brands of thread it's like never ending so when you use your one cool thing fiber that in case somebody's like well i'm not gonna go through that whole thing every time if you have a favorite thread that you use all the time you go in your settings and save it that way so it always shows up you don't have to go it'll always be in there oh that's good to know thank you and then you can actually change once you pick your brand you can change the colors in the pattern so if you want it to be like a purple here and then it will save it to the memory and then you can pull it up and then it has the different sections that you can do if you want to do it manually or if you want the machine to walk you through all of the steps you can click this first one here and then it'll walk you through each step so right now it's going to tell you to do like the upper left hand corner and then you can move around and it will walk you through that i love that i love that it's amazing and the best part is it tells you what to do and you really can't screw it up unless you're not paying attention i know my goodness i love that feature and the triple stitch is new um all the new patterns um and the connectability of patterns is so easy with the luminaire because it is illuminates on the fabric um what you're going to stitch so i can just go to like my projector which was a little bit that still has to be by far when this machine came out with that projector in fact it saved my tush today i was embroidering a whole line of trim and i um bumped the hoop when i was putting the new bobbin in and the hoop popped up i was like oh no and i was almost finished so i was able to re-hoop it and use the projector and move my design until it was right back on top otherwise i would have had to start all over and it was after like four hours of embroidery i would have been a meltdown crying for yourself i can you see this um maybe i didn't choose the best option of color um but you can now change the background color if you want me to grab my solid fabric oh yeah that would be or i can just turn it around huh so i learned when i'm doing quilting now i did i learned that and here's my practice uh put your top fabric your batting and then some stabilizer on the back and if you do it that way it keeps your bobbin area so much cleaner because the batting isn't going into the that's a good idea i never quote you thought about that but that would really save that yeah i was thinking like man my bobbin case is so flinty and it's because the uh the um the batting so uh can you see that no can you switch it to the darker screen yeah there now we can see it so say you have like your stitch design here you can connect it through the projector even if it's not sashing which just makes it so much easier i like it the embroidery to a darker color on your projector too yes let's see let me um go back and i'll change the color to black okay i'll just change both of them to a dark color [Music] and then i'll project it and it's coming here we go let's see okay that is one thing the luminaire is super super super bright lights wear my glasses when i'm sewing and when i go it's it's so easy to turn all the lights off while we're shooting and i'm like i can't see let's see there we go it's not it's this is a very faint pattern so my phone probably isn't picking it up very well um let's see can you see there we go yeah and it always does that rainbow thing now guys it's not doing that in real person it just does it through the phone and video cameras it's so funny whoa that's very cool disco time so you can see just like pretend this is the connecting to that um you can use that as a further measure but when you go through your different designs um on here like the next prompt is going to be it's going to give you cross hairs it's going to give you even more options for um lining up your designs perfectly and there will be a lot of videos to show everyone how to do that but the crosshairs are so cool it's similar to when you're sewing you can line things up just perfectly yes i agree oh angela do you want to tell everyone about what comes in the box with the machine i'll be sure okay uh technically what kind of i come in the box i uh brother has has me working on an awesome project that will be ready in about a week uh anyone who buys this machine gets free access to my luminaire master class so the class will actually a lot of people are saying we want more tutorials on the machine something that's all in one place so there's a tutorial on the machine which i have that's why i've been taping for the last few weeks and that's why when i go live that i might take you to a different side of the studio so um it's going to show you how to use the machine but but then it's not just like boring boring boring we're going to have a lot of fun projects too so there's embroidery in there uh you know i'll add a little bit of quilting but it's going to be small but um yeah so it's the luminaire master class which um you'll get a little card in the box when you buy it and it will give you the access code and i think that that's going to be pretty cool i was honored to be asked to do that and i'm loving it so the class will be in my aunt and wolf academy yay i love that and i love that now more than ever we need more virtual uh get together so that's really great about the power of video that and also you know sometimes these machines are they're so technical easy to use but technical and so even some of the smallest things like um scrolling through to find you know design stuff like that and also the machine has the two apps now that you can download to your phone the the yeah so this is what she was showing earlier so let me just go back up here and i already just did this section for the class um but on here if you go to your settings i just have to make sure i don't show the setting for my machine so let me just go in here all right oh do you want me to hide it i have to make sure i don't sew my machine number there it is okay i'll stay away from page seven this section here on your screen um a couple cool things on here um you can after you you know change i i named my machine angela lumi just so i knew because i have a couple machines hooked up into the wi-fi now through here you click down here on app guide if you guys can see that and now you have my stitch monitor so i already downloaded this to my phone i think i have my phone right here and it will show or you know you can put it on i'm actually probably gonna have it connected to my watch but it'll show you uh how your stitching is going if you're low on stitching if you run out of thread anything like that let's see if i have it right here so you can do it on your apple watch i think it'll connect to my watch uh well because they're bluetooth so it should i haven't tried it yet but i'm planning on it so this is called my stitch monitor app and basically if you're embroidering and you want to go get some coffee or you know you have like a 37 minute stitch color and you're like okay i think i'm going to go to the dishes or cook some dinner tonight then you can bring your phone with you and it will notify you when you need to change your threads oh i think i hooked it into my tablet i didn't hook it in my phone yet so that's one thing and then also my design snap which a lot of you have watched me used on the brother stellaire that actually is on this machine now you don't have the hoops like the still air where you take a photo of the hoop because you have the projector and every in the camera in here but you can take a photo of an image or an illustration and it will bring it right into the screen so it's you still have the scanning mat but this makes it really fast and easy and that's one cool thing and then this feature which we had before um and someone asked me where to get to this which makes me think of it there are videos again there's the manual videos um anything that you're working on you click on it and it will play the video for you so if you're stuck and you're like i can't remember how to do this this is a very easy way to do it and watch videos i think that is just one of the coolest things so like here's that sashing that you were doing here's a whole video to walk you through it if you needed help doing that so very nice so let's see what was there one more thing in the settings that i wanted to remind people of oh yes this big circle around this the machines now this has been around for a while the dream machine and all of those but when you want we always joke it's like a thermos where the machine knows how thick your thread is or your fabric i mean how does it know well you have to actually turn that feature on so go to your settings page and turn that feature on then it'll know if your fabric is thick and knit whatever anything like that so that's that section and i think there was one more thing maybe it was just no it's just that one right here that's what she was using here you still have your laser light and you still have on your projector with your laser light you have all the settings where you can have a grid on there um i think i have that up here there you go which i've actually used that quite a bit now i don't think you'll be able to see it on the white fabric but i'll just take you over there and just yeah you can kind of see it there's that rainbow but um sure so if you're trying to line up say you had decorative stitches or rows of couching or something like that you can line it up right on that grid and you'll know exactly where your next stitch is so um i love how lewis says if you sew with brother it's going to be pretty impossible not to sew straight that's what he always said that's my favorite quote so louis kudos to you i agree and hi lewis if you're watching um so you come in the box with the machine uh basically through the video tutorials you have video tutorials in the machine there's two apps that you can use the my stitch monitor and the snap app to where you can send pictures to the machine from my design center oh my gosh my mind is like so full there's so many things but um we had a question um uh asking if you come in the box with the upgrade so we'll have to ask brother about that but we'll definitely put in a good word on that question oh and kelly says that grid would be nice when sewing tucks i agree absolutely and heirloom stitching nice i'll check with brother on that upgrade because basically once you have the upgrade kit the machines are both look exactly the same which is why for the last month somebody asked me for the last month why have you not brought your luminaire onto the screen i'm like i can't and we were working on it and so i couldn't share that with you so now now the secrets out oh so your xp one is upgraded mm-hmm so i've been working on all these so then i get to practice and see what's new um that's like that would definitely have to be one of the purpose of my job i mean i love the product and i love new technology um and even when i think what possibly could be more out there and then there's one more cool thing the endless fishing um i would say that to my husband the endless fishing supplies if he says anything just like fish kelly wants to uh let her bar a babysit or sewing machines you need your own you need your own and marcia asks can you use the snap app on the xp one if you do the upgrade if you have the upgrade yeah let me just go double check i'm pretty sure so there's two upgrades for the luminaire one there's the ugk one and that's the one that came out last year and that has the couching and the 10 and 5 8 square frame and so the ugk 2 is what makes it the xp2 the sashing frame is optional in the machine and the upgrade but it gives you those additional sashing features tons of new designs uh and more things that we'll be talking about uh as this video goes goes on yeah so you need you need kit 2 for the um app for luminaire one um for the luminaire one you need kit 2 for the snap app yeah so another feature there's tons of new designs in the machine which i love um there's a shorter length of embroidery buttonhole patterns oh yes do you want me to show you sure i love that you can do embroidered buttonholes because i think that it turns out better looking than um a sewn buttonhole and i don't know why maybe it's just like the way the satin stitch goes but i think that embroider buttonholes are just i love embroidery buttonholes but i also you know with that new foot that came out with this machine the original one a couple years ago that embroidery or that buttonhole foot is awesome so i used to hate embroidering on knits and things like that or i would avoid it with you know as much as i could but now you don't have to okay so let me just remember what section this is under here we go and i think can you see that okay yeah just yell if you can't so these are the buttonholes some of you might have seen me use this some of these before because i use these on some of my purses and it's so easy but you can choose a buttonhole uh let's just pick a cool one like this like that you would use for jeans now if you can make it bigger or smaller to see it okay let's just click set i think it's in edit okay no let me go back i went too fast yeah before you couldn't do much editing on those buttonholes before right i know because let me let me do like a shirt buttonhole and it was like not small enough for sure yeah yeah i know i remember doing a butthole it's like five inches long like where is that gonna go so now it's down here where you can click large medium small super small and extra small so the extra small if you bring this in here let's see if it's so tiny i know but guess what you can bring your screen up to 400 now so i can see it and that would be ideal it and it tells me it's uh like a little over half of an inch and that's the next big big feature is the 400 percent magnification in the xp1 you only get 200 so that's twice as much magnification it which i need that's very cool i love that and then i think i delete that off in here oh yeah a couple of these are new aren't they like this i don't remember that before yeah there's a lot of new patterns in the machine i think it's like 142. don't quote me on that because i'm just going off my memory uh but yeah so this one by the way barbara for your for these with the new ones on here on the hexagon this is how i'll just show real quick this is how easy it is so if you know how wide you want your hexagon you measure from the inside like from one side to the other on the inside so if i wanted this um on a bag or i love how i always go to garments and you always go to home deck so or your pillow this would be gorgeous on a table like a table runner or something but you measure from the inside to this part and that's this first number also you can tell it right away what hoop you want to use and that way you'll know it'll fit in there so when you click on one uh let's just say i don't know it goes all the way up to 102. i don't remember if i have mine on inches well yeah i do have my nine inches um so let's just say 40. i love that brother gives you the option to change to inches and you're missing i know i i how do i like to go to google and figure it out if it's the little things yeah and then for here see we'll uh go with like three inches or not 53 just three so it's very similar to what you had shown and you click next and see how cool that is so it tells me how many pieces 30 pieces that's a lot there's my triple stitch again so it's very similar to what you had and then it goes into your memory and then you can bring it up and again you can pick between us an individual piece or the whole piece so that's i think that's pretty user friendly especially who aren't major quilters like myself well they call it now because brother speaks to so many different audiences i think that they have the widest audience of any manufacturer creating sewing machines right now because they have a huge embroidery base they have a huge quilting base they have a huge crafting base um and then they even have like all the crafting products like this the scanning cut and the p-touch embellish and all of their printers and all of these amazing things that we can create amazing things with so i noticed that they had a new term that they said at b to b which i was excited about quilt embroidery curl brighter yes i love that because now i could actually make it look like i i mean if everyone saw me with that fiasco and trying to make a quilt but the skirt was a nightmare but this i can actually make it look like i really did a good job on this quilt embroidery you throw your quilt on there with that magnetic hoop and it will just uh look fantastic so that's gonna be my next thing a quilted jacket that's not like doing in my class right now angela i just remembered i forgot to say i was gonna have a giveaway in this video in the beginning so to one uh live watcher we are gonna do a live giveaway at the end of a brother software i have the simply applique software yeah i have a box that i'll send to one lucky winner but that brings me to the software so with pe design 11 you can make your machine have automatic updates with this with the software if you have pe design 11 digitizing right yeah but actually you can do it without it too i mean you can on here you can do automatic update that's the wlan let me show you it again no that's okay unless somebody just wants to see it it's that little icon that looks like internet yeah here and click it where it goes automatic update because i already went through just to make sure that i had all the updates because when when we're working in beta versions you know then there are updates that we go through and it will automatically update as long as it's hooked into wi-fi which is fantastic because i always forget that and somebody will make a joke i'll say uh something isn't working right did you do your last update so it's just like a computer um you know how many times you get your computer my computer usually updates right before my live show which makes me late auto update so that's good because you know if they find something that isn't working right or if they want to make something better or if they tweak something or if they add something you get that the updates are free that's something that just will automatically update so yeah so now um there's also a new accessory for it i don't know if you have this or not um so if you have glasses like me and angela and you just need a little bit more uh if you're squinting and and to put there's a new magnifying lens that attaches to the luminaire and i think you can also attach it to the dream machine the stellar anything that takes a couching foot i know it has those little um things on this side and it's got a small bag [Laughter] i need like a face shield that magnifies everything oh my gosh uh so it's that's a new feature and it has two lenses on it so you can have like i think 1.5 to 1.7 magnification i love that and there's more features in my design center now yes and you can actually bring speaking of my design center what is my favorite thing about well i have a lot about the my design center but i love those fills and now you can bring them into the embroidery and pick any of those fills from the embroidery side which before we were limited on that i i was like jumping up and down when they did that yes so now and i was playing with that just before we went live like you can pull in through embroidery and design and and put stippling um and have all of the options for stippling on there right do you want me to turn it up sure i can show you whatever you you tell me how about you show it so i don't have to go backstage unless you're way better than me i want to say thank you so much to angela wolf for providing education and community in this time of need for us and i think that you are an amazing ambassador for brother an amazing person beautiful and oh thank you barbara we really appreciate make me cry before i come back here i told you i was like from my embroidery earlier okay those that have not been into the my design center so it's still very similar uh you can just you know pick shapes up just so you know what we're talking about here there's that and then when you want to fill it with something you have all of these to work with ah this is the one that rhene sent me one time oh there's even a couple new ones um this here with the fish let's make them blue and boom they're in there now that's cool but we were able to do that before so now let me go back to embroidery i love my design center by the way i'm doing one of the projects in in that master class is a mug rug where you're using all the features i think you can at least have something after you're doing all this it's kind of cool so let's go in here and pick a nice letter let's go with an a have barbara have you ever used these letters before with the flowers they are absolutely my favorite there are some new ones i know in the ten needle let me look here um that are so gorgeous and yes there's so there's a new there's a new scripty font in um the xp one okay so now you can add stippling all over but you can also pick i believe if i go back see where is it oh up here i think so now all in here you don't have to keep going back and forth which is kind of cool turn it into an applique it's thinking it's thinking you couldn't do this that's the echo around it that's i love that feature and look how you even manipulated it not in my design center right where you would have to be in my design center to do that and you can change the distance around things um so how far away it is from your letter i was looking at that the app okay not that one up there and change the spacing of your echo this is a really cool you know for custom if i've got a lot of people that said they're making little gifs and stuff like that selling it on etsy this is super cool uh you can also change your hoop so it knows let's just say you go down a little bit um oh maybe i'm it's thinking you can't do a lot of thinking it will know exactly how much to fill that so you know you don't put your hoop in my least favorite thing in the past is you put your hoop in and say change to a bigger hoop and you already cut everything you got it already yeah okay so here is where up here is where you can change any of these now which you know it just made sense to do this because it saves again more efficiency and look you can go like that you can change the size like we did before and then if you want the design to be further away from your letter this one here is kind of like like always called the applique see how it moved the design away from the letter i can even do it a little bit more that is beautiful angela i love how pretty that turned out i might have to i might have to add this to something so see now there's a nice defined line outside the a and the flowers so it won't disturb it at all um click ok and you are ready to embroider and then one more cool thing if you didn't know this on here when you go to layout click on here and it will actually embroider all the colors together that can be embroidered together so instead of having to keep changing back and forth now it knows what order that it has to go in so if for some reason you um like these are all different colors that really didn't make any sense but if you had just say you had like brass and then brass down here brass down here but it was all pieces that could be embroidered together before and nothing was going over it they would all go together so i don't even know if that's a new feature an old feature i kind of they all are kind of blending in but that is a really i use that a lot today when i was doing my designs it just saves time i mean if you're using now of course you could always go to the 10 needle you don't have to worry about that but i want to show you some of these scripty fonts that i think are so beautiful um that are new there's actually a little bit more in the ten needle but this is a new one this one wasn't in the um xp1 and it's so pretty and look at the a for angela ah so i like that that kind of looks like how i write and then they have the lower case too but then they also have like all of the letters so can you imagine with your magnetic frame you can write out someone's name in big because this is a five inch tall six inch no it's six inch wide by five inch tall letter so you can literally like re-hoop this easily with the new magnetic hoop frame and you know that magnetic cube when you can leave that one piece attached and just slide your fabric you'll know if you have it all lined up of you know say you have a chalk mark that you're following to put all the letters on you would can just glide it and your fabric won't get skewed at all and then keep gliding it as you can continue on everything will be totally straight and then you have the projector to just make sure it's lined up and so you there's like so many ways to just double check your accuracy and i like it simple oh i like that swirly thing at the bottom that's cute angela that one's for you i love it and then you can scan your background fabric to place it perfectly on there which is wonderful but what i wanted to show you my favorite thing angela is the my design center new fills that are in this machine so i absolutely adore my design center it is my favorite thing to play with because there's just so many possibilities so like if i wanted to bring in a shape like like you did earlier and go to my fills now there are so many more fills available so before i i did a comparison video earlier today and it's all running into each other but i think there were 30 before and now there's 42. oh that is quite an xp too and they have like more angular designs in there so here's like a oh my gosh this looks like a bathroom tile kind of um in my old house we had we lived in a 1940s house with like the storm room and everything and it was it kind of looked like that in a way i don't know if you can see that thank you okay so then you can manipulate it even more now which is great so um i think these are the same but sideways and things like that too but you can't do that on the embroidery one you can only do that part in the my design center like where you skew them yeah so random shift was is three on the xp one but it goes up to six on the xp2 and then there's three different types of shift that you can use so you can have type a b or c shift so once i like dial in what i want i click ok and it's going to do the little thinking thing and look how different it made that wow do you want me to get in a little closer i get it a little closer i don't have my magnifier i need my magnifier i think oh look at how cool that looks that looks totally different than what you just had in there yes i and that's i could play with that all day long so let's just change it to type a and see what happens look how neat that is that's cool here's type c and you can have it like really crazy i'm only on five but i can bring it to six imagine all the quilting possibilities or even like you could do this on i don't know some type of like fashion fabric to create a unique looking design um on a big panel it reminds me of lace because if you do all those on the back side if you make because you can change the size and make it smaller it looks like the back side of lace yes that and that's just that one design we can go back up here and change it to some of the other new ones like um look at this fun geometric pattern um let's see oh that one looks pretty crazy [Applause] and then we can change that one around too so there's infinite possibilities oh look at that totally different much yet i've i've made it through all the sewing and embroidery parts and then the videos i'm doing next week are with the my design center and the embroidery so oh angela i love my design center that was the first thing i opened the box and that was the first button that i pressed favorite feature um of this so there's multiple new things that you can do to manipulate the stitches but this is one of them it's like a thickness so you can have it like a thin or thick fill on there i like that shirley says you play and never have time to sew i know that's the problem yeah oh my goodness so we just hit an hour does anybody have any questions or want to see anything in particular while i have the machine i'll press any button that you want you could pretty much you could go on barbara for about five hours and you still will not cover everything i couldn't even believe it when i was putting together the master class i was like almost like the first two chapters were just setting up the machine and learning how to sew on it like then and then you look at more features it's just very cool yes so um not you get the two this is different from when you buy just the xp one without the upgrade but um you get the two couching feet in the box so the people that had questions about that i'm going to move my camera really quick to the couching side and show you how that attaches real quick before you move barbara somebody before you move somebody just said could you just show up close like that those um new fill stitch the new fill stitches in my design set up of course yeah so let me go back home my design center okay so on the xp one you get um and don't quote me on this i think it's through 30. that's just going by memory so there's 12 more fills and this is them do you want me to click on any one in particular um let me see who was that and you've any particular one you know what what is that one um is the one that you hit with the tile is that the one um on you know go to the bottom left but the far bottom left the bass it looks like a basket weave huh yeah that looks cool okay what color would you like it to be a pink okay oh that's fun and then i'm just gonna fill the screen with it i love that that looks cool that looks very cool that would be very fun as an insert like on a sleeve or again a table decoration which i'm really big into since we eat at home all the time now mm-hmm and i got sick of buying paper towels so i've been using real napkins everyone's like you're gonna use real napkins yeah why not we got a washing machine so you can even change the direction so if i didn't want it to be you know it's that way i could change it yeah i know favorite color there's an outline this is my favorite thing the random shift let's see what it does with that over and over you can actually when you take it into embroidery save it to your machine and then you'll have it there for oh the placard on the tunic janice you're right that would look good on that i love that i love this is one of my favorite features the new fills and the enhanced editing of those in my design center um do you want to see the uh couching foot yeah okay do we have time oh yeah okay i know we went over a little bit but then after that i'll do my my giveaway so i'll be right back okay i'm in no hurry wynn is probably still fixing the boat since they took bananas on it so oh i just have to show you guys uh while she's doing that since i see like almost all the wolf packs here so i can share this it's a personal thing but you'll crack up so my nephews when they heard about the bananas went crazy about that so look what they did they immediately drew this picture that says banana oh no oh no go away run for your life and you see the guy on there eating the banana banana alert so they informed wind that he had to throw the banana and fish at least five miles away from it or he's not going to catch fish and cody said go six miles just to be safe so wind's probably still out there trying to catch fish so i have no plans barbara i could be here in about a half an hour might be cocktail hours so we might have less wine or something but okay um so there's two couching feet available one of them uh you can use with sewing and that attaches to the move it foot which for those of y'all who have not had the pleasure of being exposed to the movement foot this is amazing [Laughter] so it comes with the new attachment so with the movement foot you can take this little foot off and there's optional attachments that you can purchase with that so it has a quilting quarter inch quilt foot stitch in the ditch foot an open toe foot and it comes with a quilt guide set that you can use along with this as an optional purchase but the move-in foot comes with the xp2 and so does the couching attachment so you can see there's a little hole in the other do you see that yep so you can attach yarn to the top of your machine and uh with the thread stand that comes with the machine which is amazing that is my favorite thing ever because now you don't have to lift the whole lid off and it stays right on top with that magnet i i love that it just magnetizes to the top of the um here and i use this as like my storage compartment for all my threads and feet do you do the same oh yes and then i gotta clean it up before a live show because i look like um [Laughter] angela everyone knows that a clean sewing room is just false advertising especially mine so you can put your this is so that you can couch any direction that you like so let me just go back to sewing and basically there's some attachments that come with it so yeah fran that that comes with the machine the thread stand and it it stores in that little box and so you can use it so easily but yeah and it has two spools on it it came with the one luminaire one yeah so this is actually the same attachment that the magnifier hooks on to as well so um if you have the two little holes here then the magnifier will fit on your machine which it should be the stellair and the dream and the xp machines i believe so you just take like your yarn and you would put it around your spool here and then you wrap it around the top and then you um have it go through here and tell me if i'm doing this right angela and then down through here yeah then is that right yep and then you just thread your machine with regular thread on this spool so you have thread coming from the top down through the needle and then you have a separate either like a decorative thread or a yarn feeding from this little side part and then it threads into the hole which that was the first thing i missed placed when i opened this it's that itsy bitsy there it is this bag but now i'm on a bunch of those dental floss things and i have a whole bunch of those laying around now because it's the same thing you just got to pull that thread through the hole yeah i mean through the whole yeah so you can actually like take it off and literally like thread that's right watch me not put it back in the bag and lose it right after this video i'll send you some dental floss thank you angela and you just use regular sewing thread and embroidery thread for sewing when you're doing the sewing and it just feeds through there and it'll sew on top of the yarn or decorative thread to make a really unique effect so that's it with sewing with the embroidery couching features that i showed you earlier there's this attachment that goes on the side here along with your embroidery couching foot that looks like this so i believe the yarn does it go through that hole or does it go to the side i can't remember if i remember i haven't done that in a while but i think it goes through the hole i'll have to consult the uh the manual on that one um so and then it just attaches just like a regular embroidery foot and there's a little pigtail at the top right here that the yarn goes through so it goes up from to the top through this little hole through that little hole through this pigtail through this hole and then it embroiders on top of it and it turns out absolutely amazingly beautiful i like the one that you did on was that on just a piece of fabric or was it on a shirt it's on a shawl actually um we did this last year at b2b in new orleans when the xp1 upgrade came out oh yes i remember i thought did that look familiar yeah yeah and what i like about the embroidery couching is that on the back and i need to iron this so please no judgment here it does like a diamond stitch so i think yeah the embroidered couching actually i i think that it's really unique and how it holds the um the stitch on a regular sewing machine i think he just used the regular just straight stitch yeah melody melody says she uses a zigzag stitch on couching i do sometimes uh it just depends how thick the yarn is melody by the way your haircut is adorable and happy bladed birthday happy birthday oh my goodness okay so i'm going to switch my camera back and then we're going to do a giveaway oh i love the boys do you want to give everybody a sneak peek about what's new with scan and cut because that's our next video with cindy hogan tomorrow sure okay let me go grab this uh you're gonna love this so we already talked about the new vinyl blade which is awesome which does super super intricate designs but i can't give you too much but this is for new of you that have the scanning cut you're going to say i don't ever remember having a mat that is this color guess what it's a fabric mat so no more having to put that extra sheet on there it's really sticky like really sticky so you can lay your fabric right on here and cut it and it cuts with the auto blade just like the other isn't that awesome so i heard them say the word fabric that would be very fun yeah i'm this when they said they have a fabric mat i was so excited because uh well i love obviously obviously i love fabric and i think i have one more thing to i'll let me get it out of the box i just got the box out oh my gosh you're gonna love this if if she's gonna tell you what i think she's gonna tell you you're gonna love it can you guess i think i already let the cat out of the bag okay you talk about the vinyl blade yes yes and look at these designs new designs so i made this my nieces and nephews are i early christmas i'm sending this they love mickey so that was one so do you all remember when i was joking with may that i had dots everywhere now you know why so check this one out this is the reverse now i bought the cup but isn't that fun so super fun easy things and then i used all the extra and put wooden angel stuff everywhere and then i got one more so barbara will be right stock i just got one more box yeah so the vinyl uh the auto vinyl blade will work with the new scanning cuts and um i know there's gonna be an update so hopefully um the existing people but the fabric mat will definitely work with any dx scan and cut uh machine yes mickey is my favorite too i'm so happy that brother has collaborated with disney um i at first i was like i'm never gonna use these disney designs but oh yeah you know that's really funny you said that because i was thinking what am i gonna do with these and then i started and then i ran to the dollar store and bought more stuff and then i went to the store and bought more stuff and wind was like what are you going to do with all this stuff so i just got my box back from upstate because they used some of these in there promotional stuff see wolf pack i told you that i was not trying to just keep stuff from you but i had to hide all of this every time we went live i had one lady say to me i wish you would just have everything on your desk i'm like i can't look at this one cute pink but um i did the aw so there's my little rhinestone so that's gonna probably be my little makeup bag when i travel again someday someday and this is for the boys when they come to the beach or my niece and i think i like one more thing and who made those angela i did oh you had them shipped back to you yeah they just sent them back oh look at these these are super fun so look at how tiny those little holes are on this one do you see those on minnie's tummy it cut those out perfectly i i so now i have white spots and black spots all over me so now there's four blades for the scanning cut the standard the weight three blades the vinyl the low um fabric and the standard yeah and then the pen holder that's the one the pen holder yes yes so this is it's just a different color so it's easy to remember but it sure works good all right that's it that's enough of my oh no i had one more for um my next party i told you i was vinyl all over the map i called cindy because you know cindy's the scanning cut queen and i was like cindy anything i need to know about this and she's like oh just have fun like okay and then this little cute thing came in the box as a kit to get you started cutting paper so after i was finished with all the vinyl then i went onto paper and i cut a bunch of cards and used the pen i mean it's just really fun i always thought who's going to make your own cards well have you been shopping lately those things are really expensive and i try not to shop at all lazy so except for sewing supplies yeah any reason to stay at home and be creative is that good so i'm not telling anymore because i don't want to mess up uh cindy's got one more one more mickey oh look how cute oh my gosh i love it i love it when the kids come usually i'll do a big sharpie on um you know just red solo cups and now they'll have their own their own mini or mickey yeah oh my gosh thank you
