BIG concrete job! LOTS going on! Steps-Driveway-Garage-Stamped-Walks

good morning it is a wednesday here for me in wisconsin and we are starting a brand new project today it's a big job it has a lot of different aspects to it it has a sidewalk that goes all the way around the house it has a big set of steps in the back uh that end up to be about eight feet wide at the bottom and they're gonna have bold faces it has a garage floor and a pretty big driveway a small front stamped sidewalk so we're gonna be busy on this job for several days we're gonna go ahead and get started today a couple shout outs this morning first shout out comes to bradley and brittany from georgia and they sent personal notes to each of my employees and myself included and then they also gave us all refrigerator magnets so that was pretty cool and then joshua gurney i think he owns a company here called cozy kids and i'll actually show the information if you're interested so they do socks and apparel and he sent out a pair of alligator socks for a little daniel so i appreciate that that's cool if you guys are interested in checking that out please do all right well you guys already know i need to take this trash out i will see you guys at the coffee shop how day okay it is 606 i'm just pulling into the yard i'm gonna be the only one here for a little while bugs had to stop at the job that we poured yesterday there was a few forms that we couldn't strip because of the bushes and then he also had to put sealer on that driveway as well so he's going to meet us at the job later we'll just go ahead and wait for everybody else to show up load up what we need and get out of here all right so the steps we're making today are all bowed face steps so thankfully i still kept some of my 3 8 inch plywood under here so we're going to go ahead and get this loaded up all right i just got a text message from eric and when you text me at this time i know it's bad news always he texts me a picture of the traffic traffic jam oh mike's calling me now too hello yeah eric just text me a picture the traffic's real bad yeah it's like all right marcel just texted me he said he's going to be late too he's only a couple minutes late i don't know how long this traffic can hold up my other guys everybody comes from the south from the direction of the traffic jam except for marcel and bugs come from the north dale's here daryl's the first one to work today and he's still late he's gonna feel special he's the first one even though he's late morning eric sent me a picture of the freeway it's totally jammed and then mike called me he said he's stuck on the freeway so he said he's going to be late bog's a seal in that driveway why are you always eating that's all i ever see you do is eating i'm hungry man i'm a growing man yeah you are growing i'll give you that i already got everything loaded on the truck i'm ready to go i'm just waiting for everybody morning yeah they do everybody late today everybody's late today oh you know what we need we need the uh jackhammer oh yes sir why is there so much concrete on the boggy it's like you didn't wash it last time at all eric was the last one to use it yeah make sure you strap that so it doesn't come off on the freeway all right i got to take off i promised the customer i'd be there at seven it's after 6 45 already and i don't have time to wait for the guys that traffic that's not one of our guys traffic must be terrible all right i just pull up on the job i'm gonna go over the job with the customer before we get started morning you still gotta go to the office oh if we want to move that today and you can get it done before i gotta go if you want to do it right away we can that way you can plan to do as usual yeah that might that might work because i don't think it's gonna be too bad to move honestly no it should be pretty easy yeah i figured you'd have something that fit through there no no not through here i was gonna come around i'm gonna put plywood down in the grass and kind of dig the step area out from the bottom um but this here we're gonna jackhammer out by hand okay here yeah yeah we'll go to the same spot cause i put cans there yeah yeah no we'll make that the same but we'll just fill it all the way to the wall yeah the ones you're standing on will move for sure and then like i said i'm gonna like i'm gonna twist this thing more this way yep you know a little bit and then just you know make everything match all the way through is fine then it'll be four foot up there eight foot down here and then the faces will be bold like we talked about the curvy boat steps so this pizza oven we gotta move it weighs a thousand pounds a thousand pounds really yes so so grab an end [Laughter] yeah he's going to make us a pizza if we do a nice job he was a you were like a chef right yeah yeah for years yeah tino's here and daryl is finally here man the last two days have been nothing but slow slow slow it's 7 31 in the morning good morning how are you all right are you ready yes sir all right i talked to eric maybe less than 10 minutes ago he's still in traffic still in traffic mike text me it's a nine car pileup i don't know i think it was near watertown plank or maybe by burleigh goes so fast oh plus all that construction is there too and then the lanes are super narrow and you gotta if you have like a semi coming through there he's hogging half of the other lane i can see how it would happen i wouldn't put your thumb there dude always put your hand under it pop your thumb right off pow right there are we uh yes we need the plywood so am i but we need it anyway yeah bring the plywood the beak and the breaker everything mike's here finally got through the traffic jam was eric there yet he was just pulling in behind me all right but when i got to watertown plank and i was just like stopped i'm like this ain't good yeah no that wasn't good i don't know what these things are made out of cardboard and dust that's what it tastes like [Laughter] eight o'clock in the morning we haven't touched anything yet that's crazy normally we have a lot of work done by eight o'clock already put the forks on that wood and then we'll move that pizza oven up here steps steps all the way up [Music] all of it that's why we got a jackhammer out nah we need the concrete saw this needs to be cut right here right here and then we're taking this out right here and then all this so we're going to put these two by fours on the forks okay and then we can bring the gas line it's propane he's going to make us a pizza he was a chef pizza chef [Music] [Music] hold on to the side so don't get tippy on us how much is it off the ground [Music] does it feel solid yeah [Music] or jackhammer in the back dude do you have a yeah there was glasses somewhere were there you know where they are probably enough job box driver side big truck [Music] [Music] morning bugs we had a really late start this morning god i say you did everybody was late that was amazing yeah well there was a show i know one minute even mike was like 45 minutes late they were all sleeping there was a nine car pile up on the freeway [Applause] and look at the little american flag gives you a little extra power [Music] so [Music] i like how you've been working on this thing out here the whole time we've been breaking concrete out conveniently finished right when we're done yeah right what are you trying to do we need to get this one off and where's the device we got two vice grips see yeah see it's all super strong and you're super not yeah i'm right yeah that one wasn't even tight i could have did that one yeah right bare hands yeah right yeah right tight we could try see if it's pouring out hey after you dump that bring it back over here let's start getting this dirt and work our way out i accepted a friend request from the guy from down south and we're talking about vehicles and stuff if i bring in my el camino can you put a couple shots on of course oh yeah there's another shovel daryl fry either friday or tuesday he's gonna make us pizza in the stone oven we plan on pouring any of this today not today okay all right guys are digging out the sidewalk there that one pretty good i'm gonna start getting materials out for this big set of steps [Music] all right i got this slope somewhat dug out i'm going to start laying it out and see what it says jay just gets to come and relax every single day with us pretty good life you have pretty good life wait of course i do you do yeah all right i'm working on the steps these guys are coming around daryl's loading mike's truck with the concrete from the sidewalks then he's going to start breaking the garage out and try to get this garage out today and uh hopefully get that set up and graded [Music] [Music] [Applause] yeah he should [Applause] what are you doing man all right we just put this 2x12 up it's one of the sides of our steps and i'm laying out the steps on the side i just do it lightly in pencil the first time because your concrete guys know unless you're just a master at steps sometimes you got to make adjustments um and have to draw it out a second time so i always do it really lightly the first time so far it seems to be working out if you've done this and never had to redraw it leave a comment because you are definitely far better than i especially when you're newer at concrete work and setting up steps when i was brand new i had to draw these things out four or five times sometimes before it was right but right now it is working out perfectly all right well that worked out absolutely perfect so there's seven risers they're 28 and 5 8 inch treads and there's just a little bit of pitch coming down the steps so yeah that worked out awesome excuse me how to do steps oh because you want to watch it you can just get a chair and just watch me here all right daryl's been breaking up here [Applause] the sidewalks were super thick with tons of rebar as you can see [Applause] i'm gonna run and get another two by twelve because what i grabbed this morning was too short thankfully the shop is only about five minutes away so it's not a big big deal all right i'm pulling back up on the job i got the uh two by twelve you got jack right here just come right in yeah if you go like this around the corner and break it all the way over there leave the corners in yeah all right see how straight these are brother that looks good you proud yes sir yeah if you were to cut those is this 12 inches never mind no it's nine and a half [Music] i'm going to need you guys over here we got to dig this down this is all this this hump in the middle has got to go down about three inches hey can you guys knock these knock these steps out quick it's got to go down about three inches diggy diggy [Music] i knew i should have charged more than 500 for these steps [Music] so i'm going to put blocking in now like this so then our our face boards our risers will come i don't have something to rest again all right so this will be my first riser just like this like that [Music] got it yep okay all right steps are in place i won't say they're completely set yet i gotta screw them all to height and uh gotta put some gravel in there a whole bunch of pins and kickers but they're looking good you guys almost done are you almost done i broke the door though you better not him all right we're just finishing up the steps guys are going to grab all the sidewalks and then obviously we need to put some gravel in the steps mike's picking up the plywood because we're done down there tito bambito you got it getting it careful yeah we're gonna have to put kickers on but i ain't too worried about those right now we got we got like an hour in the morning we can play with stuff as long as we get the gravel and everything compacted we can put the steel and more braces on in the morning cookies cookies thank you they just took them out of the freezer all right i told him to fill it up okay ready for the compact with another half wheelbarrow [Music] wow heads up more down on the bottom uh no i got enough here what kind of motor do you got all right we're wrapping it up we're ready for the pour in the morning the big set of steps and then the sidewalks should be very easy this was the hardest part of the job is back here all the hand removal and then the big set of steps which take forever to set up it was easy but this is still the hardest part back here the garage in the driveway is easy money make sure the road gets swept up good though that's important all right i'm gonna take off you guys i'm just cleaning up tomorrow we'll pour that back there we'll get this set up we might pour the garage floor tomorrow afternoon depending on how fast a couple guys can get it set up in the morning damn timbers in the road all right i'll see you tomorrow yep all right see you tomorrow i won't be here tomorrow oh yeah that's right i'll see you next week then okay good morning it is thursday it's 5 30. we're going to get over there and pour that big set of steps and sidewalk this morning we're going to set up the garage maybe even pour the garage there's lots to do on that job yeah we're gonna bring the power bug in do some of the bottom steps on the bottom and then we're going to wheel barrel from the top and dump it down the steps remember how we did the other stairs oh no we're not using five gallon pails not today where are you traveling to today atlanta chicago yesterday was last week yeah world traveler every day what's with your shoes man i don't know me i know you guys need some work boots man i got my words i always wear boots let me stomp on them if they're steel toes we got no more shoes my feet are beat up man i gotta be yeah he fell off a roof what oh yeah you told me a wheelchair for three months i never left a wheelchair he broke his feet i went from the wheelchair to the toilet a wheelchair to bed for three months dude i was doing wheelies i fell off a roof i fell 20 feet i landed on concrete but i landed on my feet this one i shattered in nine places this one was in two this one they put screws in but this one they could do nothing dude the mri looked like eggshells nine places my heel was broke and there's just shattered look at this game yeah he must have got that the first year brett favre was in green bay you were supposed to break junior today nobody told me well i told junior he's a hard job so now he knows he don't want to go we're pouring that he texted me this morning can you please bring me in my dad forgot me he said you forgot him how do you forget junior by himself it's going to be crazy yeah not today going to be hotter than yesterday tomorrow too yeah all right we're out of here it's about 6 30. all right i just got here it is 6 46. i'm just going to measure up for concrete then i'm going to start working on the downspouts bugs is going to start bracing the steps so we can be start working on these downspout pipes i'll go 12 and a half i got to be a little bit more careful with the glue this time i had some plumbers on the channel they were saying how sloppy my glue job was last time i did this yeah so i got to be a little bit more careful this is time one down all right bugs has the steps 100 ready to go got all kind of bracing on there so they ain't gonna move we're gonna bring the power bug around that way fill the bottom probably three steps and then we'll bring wheelbarrows or something out this way and fill the top few you ready jay you ready for concrete i see that all right i'm gonna start putting some heights up in the garage here so we can get this graded out today and hopefully poured hey stop stop stop put your glasses down i told you guys that before using a wire wheel with no safety glasses is dumb i'm just telling you you gotta realize it's spinning one direction so as those bristles are coming across the edge you gotta have it going in this direction if you go like this it's gonna catch the edge every time let me let me see that give me that give me that i'm gonna show him wait i have glasses on by the way so see that see the direction it turns spinning that way so you're safe to do this edge if you come over here it's gonna catch so you can do this side right now it's not gonna catch all day long okay you just gotta recommend steps for beginners maybe one step but not this many steps make sure you pull the wire [Applause] [Applause] man that concrete is uh it still gets stiff fast don't it like the steps are already like they already got we might need it on the steps yeah right the camera already dived in it still good that's why i don't bring expensive cameras [Applause] it's like back to the regular you're gonna have to relax this pin a little bit look down these see it's got a little wobble like pull that pin that way a little bit this one look these two look great well now they don't they're all out of afar so now it's like a box of chocolates you never know what you're gonna get that's true that's true they just give you whatever cement they get their hands on now you gotta have concrete telling you it's ready to finish you don't have to wait this is the same concrete we've had all summer until the last like month it's been great but this is how it's been all summer i didn't forget i put it in or on the ground it doesn't take long 30 minutes it'll be burnt same difference yep hey they dyno the crown vic baseline 228 whopping rear wheel horsepower that's it that's that's before disappeared he's been gone for at least a half an hour and the max running so i have a feeling he's asleep in there or on the phone i haven't seen him for a long while daryl your stomach doesn't hurt you're sleeping you're sleeping in the truck and we're all working it's not fair come on and do something [Applause] it was kind of funny when daryl jr did it for a little while you know but it's not real funny anymore it's i'm paying darryl good money and all my other guys are working including myself and he's sleeping in the truck he should be glad we're friends i can tell you that all right i got concrete for an hour about two hours so we're gonna go ahead and get the garage door prepped and get concrete coming for that super nice customers definitely in the running for customers of the year grapes rice krispies apples wow this is awesome i'm gonna have an apple this is awesome just so you guys know you guys are on the list for a customer of the year award so what puts his weight over the top pizza feeding grapes honestly if you make us all i mean if a pro pizza chef makes us a professional style pizza that's going to put you on the top of the list so far this year i'm just last are you guys done good because we're ready to grade [Music] i'm going in there i'm ready to grade put some pins in the sides let's grade this please oh yes sir yes sir man you're really demanding how did all the gravel get in here yeah just like we great every garage ever in the history of the company there look at how much blade that's half a blade yet no way that's like a cord is that safe about safety andrew ryan from victory hey i got at 12 o'clock same place same way eight and three-quarter yards and tito come here so we're going to take a break but after we get this concrete down you guys got to take up all these stones okay put them in a wheelbarrow and then bring them over here i'll show you what they want to keep them okay because we got to put a concrete sidewalk there yeah look at it look at daryl's working hard in here and you guys my heart is worker my heart is worker you're in trouble [Laughter] pull the truck over here i want to load it up let's get some of this asphalt out of here then load it up i want to get something done concrete's not even loaded yet i ain't going to sit around for an hour and a half we gotta dig this out yeah we gotta dig like six inches more okay and then dig it down like about six inches oh six inches all the way around and six inches more down you guys have been the most impressive contractor i've seen in a long time thank you i'll tell you that even him though all of you guys because wow wow they're so good about coming out and just explaining and going over those details yeah stuff with us and nobody else you have to do that honestly because well while you know this well you know this was a ton of money you're not going to spend a ton of money unless you feel comfortable with who's going to do the work for you yeah so and my kid just had like windows put in her house and stuff it's been a nightmare really it's but they had pillow windows put in their house it's been a nightmare that's too bad going on and i think people are pretty understanding up to a point you know well most of the time no not most of the time but a lot of times you hear stories that the contractor just like they get in trouble on their schedule and then they just stop communicating because they're scared or nervous to communicate that's the worst thing you can do because all your stuff's by the road that's crazy isn't that nuts i'm pretty disappointed in the garbage man and i love the garbage man oh hi did you concrete yeah it's right there finally one hour and a half late hour and a half and look at my guys they're not they're not real busy hi joel good where you been telling me the truth were you sleeping were you taking a nap around the corner steve told me that they were really backed up today yeah really backed up he said most guys are two hours late well you're hour and a half late yeah you're an hour and a half late steve told me it's a bad day who's pulling a wire make sure you pull the wire off every time he dumps you got to pull it up stop it hey you got to pull the wire to go to jail how do you say that in spanish tell him pull the wire you're going to go to prison [Music] just just dump it want to do man it's just got to be strong right right so tomorrow we gotta uh we're gonna pour that and set all this and that's it that's good that should be easy we'll hey bugs you know i could finish a step if you want to go on the slab oh okay is it ready though yeah i can finish it if you guys just want to start doing the flat area go grab me some knee boards please in my uh uh i gotta we made good progress garage doors all poured finished you guys already saw the back sidewalk and the steps tomorrow morning we're gonna pour this sidewalk here this is colored and stamped we're gonna do adobe buff with sunbuff release uh ashley slate on that one and then we're gonna set up or rip out and set up the rest of this driveway so a good few days to start off this week and uh i think tomorrow's gonna be really easy actually tomorrow will probably be our easiest day all the hard stuff is done on this job the rest we'll go quick all right i'll see you guys in the morning adios adios
