now everybody loves Betty White she has been an icon for so long she lived up until the age of 99 and as we like to say the people who mind their business drink their water not only do they age so well but they also get to live such long and fruitful lives and she was one of those people that not only minded her business and drank her water but she was a staple in all of the communities she was just loved all over but as I done more research on Betty White I found out that she's pretty gangster okay she stood up for what was right she did not let Hollywood play with her she handled her own she didn't let people disrespect her and she risked her job for people that she didn't really have to risk her job at a time where it would have benefited her to just do what the elites were telling her and everyone else was telling her she went against whole society Norms just to stand up for what is right and I am so excited to get into her video I love her so much and make she continue to rest in peace we all love Betty White and I'm going to tell you in advance her favorite color is blue light blue though ironically enough she also loved the color white of course her last name is white so leave either a white or blue heart in the comments for her and let's start this video off with her CH uh with her childhood but before we get into all that hey friend welcome to my channel Ken alude where we Deep dive and break down the most iconic Stars through history if you're not yet subscribed please be sure to do so and if you're already subscribed please be sure to turn on your notification Bell so you never miss an upload now let's get into this video so Betty Maran White was born on January 17th 1922 in Oak Park Illinois she was an only child to her mother Christine Tess a homeowner and her father Horus Logan white who worked as an executive at a lightning company her father held from Michigan Betty had a diverse Heritage including Greek from her maternal grandfather Danish from her paternal grandfather and both grandmothers were of English descent from Canada she also had Welsh Roots when she was just 1 years old her family moved to California and later relocated to Los Angeles during her tough times of the Great Depression to supplement their income her father crafted Crystal radios and Bartered them for goods occasionally accepting dogs as payments Betty attended School in Beverly Hills specifically Horus man Elementary School and Beverly Hills High School graduating from the latter in 1939 family trips to the Siera Nevada ignited her passion for wildlife leading her to dream of becoming a forest ranger unfortunately during that time women were not permitted to serve in this role instead she channeled her creative energy into writing and developed a love for performing after writing and starring in a play at her Elementary School she admired Janette McDonald and Nelson Eddie and decided to become an actress a month after graduating from high school Betty and a school friend performed song from the Mary Widow on an experimental television show when the concept of Television was still taking shape she worked as a model and secured her first professional acting gate at the Bliss Hayden Little Theater after America entered World War II in 1941 she volunteered with the American women's voluntary service driving a truck filled with military supplies to Hollywood Hills and participating in an event for soldiers before they were sent overseas reflecting on her service during the war she described it as a strange time and out of balance with everything after World War II Betty White was eager to pursue her passion for acting and made her way to various movie studios seeking opportunities however she faced rejection after rejection with the common critique being that she was not photogenic undeterred she pivoted towards radio a medium where physical appearance mattered less White's initial foray into radio included reading commercials playing minor roles and even imitating crowd noises despite the humble beginnings and meager pay of about $5 per show she was enthusiastic and willing to do anything even singing without pay her tenacity and talent led her to appear on popular shows like Blondie the great Gilder sleeve and this is your FBI eventually Landing her own radio show happily titled The Betty White Show in 1949 white expanded her burgeoning career to television co-hosting the daily live variety show Hollywood on television alongside Al Jarvis and upon Jarvis departure in 1952 she took over as Soul host demonstrating her ability to command a show single-handedly she spent 5 and 1/2 hours on air 6 days a week continuously for 4 years showcasing her adaptability and resilience White's versatility Shone through as she would sing a couple of songs during each broadcast her Talent didn't go unnotice and in 1951 she earned her first Emmy nomination for best actress on television between 1952 and 1954 white hosted and produced her own Daily Talk variety show The Betty White Show White wasn't only a performer she was also a Trailblazer she had creative control over her series and was one of the first to hire a female director in an unprecedented move she featured an africanamerican performer tap dancer Arthur Duncan as a regular cast member this decision faced backlash from local Southern stations who threatened a boycott they didn't want to watch the show anymore if he was going to be on the show so White's response was defiant and inspiring I'm sorry live with it was what she told them she even gave Duncan more air time to be Petty she was like oh you guys don't want to watch the show anymore well now I'm going to give him even more air time this courageous moved in her immense respect and love within the African-American Community a sentiment that persists today one thing I know for sure the black community does not play about Betty White and this started since way way back in the day a lot of people was very proud that she was a woman where in Hollywood during those times it was the Inception of Television mind you she came into the game before television was you know in everyone's home and was even a big deal right people didn't even really fully grasp the concept of a television but also women were definitely not making any noise in in Hollywood and so she was this defiant woman at the peak of her career and she risked her career just to give someone else shine and so it did not go unnoticed and a lot of people really put a lot of respect on her although she garnered a lot of enemies she just was ahead of her time mentally okay but her show did end up getting cancelled because of that so it was really tragic in 1952 white co-founded Andy Productions with writer George tibbles and producer Don fedon they created the television comedy life with Elizabeth which won white a Los Angeles ammy Awards in 1952 the show was syndicated nationally from 1953 to 1955 making white one of the few women in television with full creative control in front and behind the camera by the 1960s White had become a staple of Network game shows and talk shows her career hit a new high in 1985 when she took on the role of Rose Nyland on The Golden Girls a series about four widowed or divorced women living together during their Golden Years white won a prime time Emy award for outstanding lead actress in a comedy series for the first season and was nominated in the same category throughout the show's run why had a strain relationship with her Golden Girls co-star ba Authur show commenting that Arthur was not not that fond of me and that she found me a pain in the neck sometimes it was my positive attitude and that made B mad sometimes sometimes if I was happy she'd be furious end quote after Arthur's death in 2009 white said I knew it would hurt I just didn't know it would hurt this much despite their differences The Golden Girls was a positive experience for both actresses and they had great mutual respect for the show their roles in the achievements made as an ensemble cast white won five Prime Time Emy Awards two Daytime Emmy Awards including the 2015 Daytime Emmy for Lifetime Achievement and received a Los Angeles Emmy Award in 1952 white was the first woman to have received an Emy in all performing comedic strategies and also holds the record for longest span between Emmy nomination for performances her first was in 1951 and her last was in 2014 a span of over 60 years in 2015 she received the lifetime achievement Daytime Emmy she also won three American Comedy Awards including a Lifetime Achievement Award in 1990 and two viewers for Quality Television Awards she was inducted into the television Hall of Fame in 1995 and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1955 she was named the honorary mayor of Hollywood the American Comedy Awards awarded her the award for funniest female in 1987 as well as the list of Lifetime Achievement Awards in 1990 in September 2009 The Screen Actor Guild announced plans to honor white with the screen Actor Guild life Achievement award at the 16 Screen Actor Guild Awards actress Sandra bulck presented white with the award on January 23rd 2010 at the ceremony which took place at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles in 2011 polls conducted by routers and ipsis revealed that white was considered the most popular and most trusted celebrity among Americans beating the likes of Denzel Washington Sandra Bullock and even Tom Hanks in 2017 after 70 years in the industry white was invited to become a member of the Academy of Motion Pictures arts and science at age 95 this made her the oldest new member at the time okay still breaking records at 95 in terms of her relationship Betty White met an Air Force pilot Dick Barker while she was volunteering with the American women's voluntary service and after World War II they got married and moved to a small town in Ohio where Barker had a chicken farm but Betty didn't enjoy this simple life much they went back to Los Angeles and divorced within a year in 1947 Betty married Lane Allen a talent agent in Hollywood they split up in 1949 because Allan wanted to start a family but Betty wanted to focus on her acting career on June 14 1963 Betty married TV host Alan luden she first met him when she appeared on his game show password in 1961 Betty took some time to say yes to his marriage proposals but eventually she did and they were happily married until Alan passed away from stomach cancer in 1981 they didn't have children together but Betty became a stepmom to alen's three kids from his previous marriage and after Allen's death Betty never remarried and she didn't really she didn't have children but Betty was very career-driven and I don't think she really minded much after Alan's death Betty never remarried and once asked during an interview she said once you've had the best who needs the rest end quote when asked what she'd like God to say to her if Heaven exists she said come on in Betty here's Allan in quote so she really loved him on December 25th 2021 Betty had a stroke on Christmas Day I know she passed away in her sleep at her home in Los Angeles on the last day of the year December 31st ah I can't she was 99 years old lots of people in groups around the world shared their sadness and respect for Betty after her death the Martin Luther King Jr Center praised her for supporting Racial equality early on and many media organizations entertainers political commentators sports teams politicians and other public figures also paid tribute to her Betty's star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame was quickly covered with flowers and tributes after news of her death broke she lived a long life she died at 99 years old despite her crazy diet and anyone else knows like she was just gorgeous when she was there she grew just to be beautiful right but she was just so stunning I was like yes Betty right at the very end she had a very crazy diet in 2011 her hot and Cleveland co-star Jane leaves dished on white snack snacking habits she said she eat Red Vines hot dogs french fries and Diet Coke if that's the key to health maybe she's preserved because of all the preservative and quote fellow co-star Wendy Malik concurred saying she eats red licorice like ridiculously a lot she seems to exist on hot dogs and french fries she also loved wine till her very last day and vodka quote and she loved hot dogs so much that fans would create fan art of her eating hot dogs like she really was a hot dog girl I don't know how um the iconic actor shared that her own secret to living a long and fulfilling life was not what we normally hear from Hollywood stars she told people that she avoided Anything Green as part of her diet in her interview with people white said she was grateful to be healthy I'm so lucky to be in such good health and feel so good at this age it's amazing white said she believed being born a cockeyed Optimus was also essential to her nature I got it from my mom and that never changed she said I always find the positive in 2018 she said it was important to enjoy life in an interview with parade accentuate the positive not the negative she said at that time she added it sounds so trite but a lot of people will pick out something to complain about rather than say hey that was great it's not hard to find great stuff if you look end quote White had not been working on any projects at the time of her death but according to people she was enjoying a quiet life in Los Angeles doing crossw word puzzles playing card games watching in Jeopardy and animal documentaries and playing golf but her biggest secret for beauty was sleep she told people and I quote get eight hours of beauty sleep nine if you're ugly she was such a comedian right I can't first of all she continued keep busy and don't Focus everything on you that wears out pretty fast it's not hard to find things you're interested in but enjoy them and indulge them and I think that keeps you on your toes end quote her
