BEST WHOLE Roast Duck: Street Food Guide of Saigon Vietnam

I love you you're like the duck angel of Vietnam look at that thing sizzle Boop hey guys it's Mike Chang here in Saigon I've been here for a few days now I've had some of the best thaw I've ever tried in my life great hot pop beautiful breakfast but one thing I always wanted to do it it's just simply walk around and tried the variety of street food scattered across the city so today that's exactly what I'm gonna do I'm going to start out with district 10 going to a place that's supposed to have some amazing fried quail in this place they make fried quail fried in butter there's three massive cauldrons of oil here and he's just scooping the entire quails into the oil and check this out this looks like quail gizzards these are just slice half quails oh come on all right let's go find a place to eat this Wow they give me an entire baguette it's like veggie some papaya cucumber chiles and this is actually two different dips there you can either dip it in here which is looks like there's a lot of chilies in here already where you could dip it in the soda and pepper in some lemon take a little quail look at this man that's tender I'm just gonna dip it in this sauce first I have no idea what the sauce is right now Oh Oh ash tender I think the quail was marinated in some sort of sweet sauce before he got into the oil there's a lot of soy sauce in here but she's like fried chicken I got tiny a little fried you know I want to try this in the salt and pepper Wow I should I like that a lot better because the marinade is pretty sweet it's definitely super flavorful you need a bit of citrus here I don't even think you need a salt and pepper just a little bit of lime juice that's pretty perfect great value for two bucks my next stop is district 3 I'm here on this really popular street called ween there Liang Street and this is where you're gonna find a lot of different food stalls a lot of restaurants great place to get your street esight alright this looks pretty cool this this looks like a bunch of stuff wrapped in banana leaves and it's actually a lot of kinks for their stick your eyes there is pork there is beef the beef one I think is called jabal double and look at this and it literally looks like a fish cake shut up breaking it have it is just like so flexible it smells grace steamed inside this banana leaf it has a beautiful aroma and this thing is very stretchy is a little raw risk oh and it's absolutely delicious I thought what seems like a fish cake which tastes good but the flavor is really mounting a little bit fishy this first of all incredibly fragrant and it's a little snappier I'm chewing that it's not a chewy texture huge beef flavor you know what I love is just check this out it's got a little specks up I think this is pepper so you're taking a bite and you just get that nice infusion of peppery flavor as well this on its own is already ridiculously good but I think it will be even better if you roast this over a fire I mean I wish they had this in a us off next time I go camping instead of hot dogs sticking on a tree Prince roast it dip it in some hot oil this will make your whole camping trip that little hot dog thing was insane but now I'm really thirsty and I see a fresh orange juice stand across the street now now the difficult part is actually crossing the street without the time I'm gonna put up by my hand does the international sign for don't run me over with your motorbike guys this is really interesting these look like oranges that are not ripe yet because well they're green look I did not mean to destroy her crop but this is what it orange just looked like in Vietnam so I'm gonna have fresh orange juice made from these oranges I think this in viennese is huh so gummit yes and she's grabbing the oranges one two three three oranges whoa can I see that just one second look at this it is beautiful I would never expect like this orange of a color inside oranges are green and she's just juicing it by hand and that's it freshly squeezed orange juice in a bottle of ice [Music] that's beautiful I don't know where he is but it's a little tart also really sweet I had the option of adding more sugar into this but I just wanted the way it is and naturally there's a little pulpy I feel healthier already this this cancels out the entire gold hopper right I think so I'm here for this ah this is fresh winter melon juice that figure has some orange juice no I want some winter melon juice look at this winter melon it's like that it looks like a Python the process is literally like how you buy like a milk tea in the US definitely get it with the jelly I love walking by through stalls where there's charcoal in this place this looks really interesting all this seafood selection I can water anything I want and they make it for me I'm gonna just see what they think is the best for what I order so I was gonna point to some random stuff so I got some some crab some clams Oh scallops the grilling the scallops right here and was really cool is that my friend here he tells me he can me he'll make the half the Scouts for me with cheese and have it made the Vietnamese way I don't know what that means but I'm excited to find out my other seafood is just being stir-fried and a lot of chili and that is definitely the way that Vietnamese people typically eat it my clams are cooked in some little little lemongrass some chilies I'm gonna try this right now oh yeah cream cheese oh that's real good I love cheese's gobs because the scabs are sweet very delicious my cream cheese beautiful all right I'm gonna take all this I'm gonna go sit down thank you my buddy over there says I got to eat this with fish sauce so oh it does face better of her shop before when I tried it without the view shot it was still good but I lacked a little bit of flavor I was really getting was the spring onion now there's more complete love the crunch factor with the peanuts chill I'm I like this one better than the one with cheese those I'm extremely excited about look at this all I see is this chili and I think little bits of salt on top perfect morsel of crab claw I'm gonna go ahead and dip it in the chili and salt go that around in there and get it nice and dirty [Music] oh this is filthy good my private show ridiculously sweet I'm not a little pisser salt it looks really spicy he's not overly spicy so it really doesn't distract you from that beautifully sweet crab meat and we're got this this thing is just my barter with lemongrass and I just want to take a clam soak it in some of that soup add everything here this soup it's fantastic it's just like anything good about the ocean you know oh this thing is a little spicy a little sick to see a little sweet some of the best things I ate tonight this is really interesting so they cow poop so they took the meat out of the conch and they cooked it and they stuffed it back inside and it looks like it's cooked a lot of chili [Music] oh yeah this is the spiciest thing our work I mean it's got that delicious to come to me that I love just that it was doused in Hellfire I mean this day is so spicy if you put this near your year you can actually hear the heat but this was really fun I think my favorite is still the clams in the lemongrass broth but I just really enjoy the concept of going somewhere point to different things and I love the fact that I didn't just cook everything and one style is great that I order four things and I gotta cook like five ways oh I think I need to go back and get some back up get some more of that winter melon juice all the way from down the block I smell this half way down the block it is roast duck like it's just crackling sizzling over a bed of charcoal the duck grease is just dripping on the fire the fire is lighting up from the Cui's of that duck get more creases dripping on the fire it's like an endless cycle of delicious duck carrousel just going around and around in circles I gotta try some of this there's smoke coming from inside the body of the duck and that's because there's actually herbs stuffed inside the body I gotta be careful because they did put the head in here and they also put the duck spot in here and I'm gonna try to avoid the head in the bun so I'm gonna start off with with this piece right in the middle I'm not gonna dip does anything it's gonna get it as is you guys are awesome yeah you need to come to Vietnam like like today go buy your ticket right now and come get the stock might be one of the best things I had in Vietnam like you might tie with [ __ ] or ever stay put inside yeah I don't know exactly what it is all I know is that it gives me the feels I'm just sitting here having like an emotional breakdown in the middle of a street and people are just coming on in taking a picture of me going through this emotional process this wood it looks like when duck almost makes a grown man cry no additional seasoning no additional sauce need it Wow you know when food is good when you've been eating food all day and then you eat something that basically was fresh as your hunger this is there right here people unfortunately I gotta go there's more things to try but just walking eat I'm still working my way through the dog and I passed his chicken stand supposed to be really good these little yellow things I'm pretty sure there are eggs I love that duck so much I passed by that chicken players I just had to get some and they gave me a lot massive bag of salad and then a congee sandwich I think has unhatched chicken eggs inside I don't know about that let's just focus on the chicken for now [Music] the meter is really spring you touch you guys super clean chicken flavor but it has really no taste I think that's why they gave you the sauce oh yeah well that changes everything sauce is great I still prefer to Doug well this is really not bad actually pretty excellent for chicken I mean you can really taste the quality here this is the really popular Vietnamese Street food its fry sweet potatoes and you can either get in cheese flavor or sweet and sour I like the sweet and sour powder on the outside we did lose in punching out our show beautiful ginger Street potatoes on the inside they're like sweet potato fries but much much better I think I'm reaching the end of my day today and this this is the one last all gonna hit up I heard this place it's got a couple of really interesting things one is a rice paper salad and one is is some sort of roll Mountain junk-punch uncle bun Tendo oh man don't go back into all its rice paper so what what they do is they they use a sort of a hand blender and they break apart rice paper that's in the bottom and then there's some Vietnamese basil see some roasted peanuts whoa eggs some papaya we're supposed to do before you eat it is check your bag and just really rub it hard so everything is mixed and you do that because the rice paper is actually hard so we need to get the sauce on the noodles so it kind of stopping it up there you go all right I'm gonna put some sauce on there and then rubbish self war to your rice paper it softens up a bit [Music] but the rice paper is much softer now I thought I might have overseas in this this is pretty good a salsa nice and sweet and the flavor integrates well with a try seafood in here I like the fact that the egg is all s'mores everywhere it is pretty fun to eat the overall flavor is good you just gonna make sure to pound the heck out of this thing alright after that last food item I really needed something superior juicy soap I wouldn't got a vegetable juice which is really out of kerja for me but it's really good also I figured that after all that today if I didn't have some vegetables in my system I might just fall over it before I can get back to my hotel but guys going on street food tours it's probably my favorite thing to do in a new city I love trying out different foods things I never had before interacting with the people that makes the food just in general walking around and having a great time highlight of the day definitely bit done so if you are
