do not try this at home oh that's coming over all the way give her give her another go try to hit it in that square to see if we can break that square so it's not as much weight here like right right there oh yeah man it's holding on good though oh it is right here and she's coming yeah give her the onion oh it's just awkward because i don't want to fall in yeah there you go welcome back to the channel guys this is drew with meyer construction we're on this basement remodel and we're doing egress windows here we're extending current windows but basically what we're doing is just digging it out you'll start off you want some plywood or some bags or something to lay down that way your dirt you can stack and not get it in your landscape separate your gravel from your rock and then your dirt but yeah so you're just going to start off call 4-1-1 make sure i'm come out and mark off if you got any utilities we're going to finish digging these up and then we'll get you on the next step thanks for watching [Music] so we're installing an egress window and we laid out our dimensions on this wall here what we're doing is going to drill pilot holes so that way we can cut it from the outside so we just laid it out i'm just using a little quarter inch or 3 16 bit long enough to get through the wall today we're putting in the egress window we are going to be using a uh gas powered masonry saw i've never used this kind of saw it's got a double blade so it removes uh like a kerf it's just a gas powered saw you'll definitely want to be wearing a deer eye protection respirator when you're doing this we just drilled our pilot holes downstairs and then we're going to take a level plumb up and that'll give us our mark we'll kind of go over the basics how we're doing it today and what you're going to need to do to install your own window window well so thanks for watching comment down below and keep hammering [Music] [Music] so me and alex are putting in this window well and we had a video the other day of this system and how much easier it was well this afternoon or this morning here we were trying to put in some tap cons and just started snapping them off left and right even with this clutch mechanism so we both were kind of scratching our heads so this bit i have you can see how war it is versus we just switched to a brand new bit and you can see just even to the eye you can see the diameter is greater so what we the conclusion we came to is basically if you're buying more tap cons just go ahead and buy a new bit over the time of drilling holes they're going to get wore out the carbide chipping um chisel on the end will you know wear off because we just switched to a new bit drilled that new tap con and it went in super easy so that's something to be aware of always have plenty of rotary hammer bits on hand and if you're snapping off tap cons and you have an old bit that's probably your problem the dimension of your hole is probably not great enough so we're using um to seal that to the wall alex laid a nice big bead of polyurethane or polyurethanized um sealant vulcan 116 relentless performance polyurethane sealant multi-surface application for concrete uh exterior rated so this stuff stays with polyurethane it stays like it has really good elasticity so it doesn't set up hard it's a lot better than your regular so we got it attached now we're going to backfill it and get to cutting so you can see alex is going off our pilot point or pilot hole we drilled on the inside right here right there and he's plumbing up and that's gonna give us our cut line so that's where you can transfer your mark from the inside to the outside just try to be careful to you know keep your um hammer drill perfectly perpendicular from the wall and you know keep it true when you're drilling through because obviously if you get a little crazy um that will change you know where that pilot hole is going to come out [Music] so you can see i made my first pass and they say to cut your bottom first and what that does is make sure that when you cut your sides that's all going to come out in one piece but you can see that double blade uh basically cuts a channel they send this little breaker bar with you and you just sit pry this in there and it breaks out real easy and then you can make you know multiple passes this block wall is eight inches thick so i'll make multiple passes uh cuts and ice pretty easy to run it's a little heavy and awkward but not too bad you'll definitely want a respirator like this um dealing with all the combustion fumes from the gas-powered motor we also have a fan trying to uh blow it out of here so that's helped but yeah so i made my first pass just broke it out now i think it might be alex's turn i don't know if that'll we'll show you what it does on a side cut this is working really nice like i said it comes this breaker bar to go in there and remove that channel um starting it was a chore because i couldn't find the decompression switch and that's where when you choke it and it fires off and dies right away if you don't press the decompression switch it'll really fight you on starting a lot of saws will have it up here somewhere this it's right here on the side underneath so just press it there the only thing when you're running this is any deviation because it's got a long um arm where the blade sits that it'll bind up and try to run on you so just be careful be mindful of where your legs are so you don't take a blade to knee um yeah other things for this project you're going to want our fan we're using a fan to circulate that air get it out of there hammer sludge is nice or a mini sledge eye protection respirator and i would do at least i wouldn't do an n95 i would at least use one of these full face or half face whatever they call them a regulator with cartridges that's approved for these particulates and gases or vapors and then hearing protection because it's loud and when you're down in that window well it really reverberates and it's very loud also a good garden hose we just blew the hose that was here so now we're running to alex is running to his parents they live a block away and he's going to get a hose and do it on a nice cool day which we did not [Music] so [Music] give her hell do not try this at home oh that's coming give her give her another go try to hit oh yeah oh yeah man it's holding on good though oh it is look at this crack put a little outside but we got foam right here and she's coming ready should i go hit it from that way in that whole piece it's moving oh yeah she's coming so it's i guarantee you give it a couple of taps and that whole piece is coming in you're live yep oh what is hanging on give her the onion oh it's just awkward because i don't want to fold it yeah don't do that there you go almost there it's you're coming on the inside i think it's just this right here there's a few pieces that are like binding on each other there you go one more one more just don't fall in the window well you're good oh it's halfway in one of these hits it's finally it's just catching on itself it's on this middle frame all right coming in let there be light coming in yeah watch out well let me change the angle all right now i'm ready oh yeah almost there nicely done i can swing a sledge about overhead like that yeah when you're worried wow and when you're worried about stepping over the window well and that's a nice clean finish for the most part damn that thing held on hit in the corner corner and break the corner off one more hand still got the camera guys just saved the window still got the window get going [Music] what's your rebuttal say well we can look at her numbers you know so you can see we just set our window really tight fit we left a quarter of an inch which is a little ballsy kind of bit us in the ass cutting with that saw but we ended up i don't know probably cost us an hour of time but we wanted a nice tight fit didn't want these leaking so all in all it turned out nice so if you can see alex is doing a nice bead of silicone the best of the best onyx brand smell it that's for sure oh yeah this is also an adhesive oh shoot that's a lot of pressure on your toes huh no to the back yep very nice do you need those nails though i got in my pouch good it opened and closed good money have you seen awesome framers how they use uh like two inch grks for this just for the risk of you know breaking your flange on vinyl windows especially at cold days which makes sense you got to be so damn like a careful screw uh no but that would almost be better than just those r4s because they have a nice flat kind of profile
