the masters agility championship at westminster is presented by purina pro plan and we are once again at beautiful and historic lindhurst on the banks of the hudson river the scene once again for the westminster kennel club dog show and our masters agility championship as we welcome you once again to new york for a 146th time not in manhattan though start in times square turn north of broadway go about 25 miles turn left into the driveway and you're here in terrytown at lindhurst our site once again for the masters agility championship here on fox hello everyone and welcome alongside championship winning agility trainer and handler terry simons soon to be joined on the floor by rodolfo landeros i'm john strong second year in a row we are here at linhurst what a wonderful scene it is it's great to be back isn't it i love it here and i love it in june and i think the dogs love it here in june the handlers may have a little issue with it because they're not going to be able to compromise on this course whether you're a first first-time handler or a seasoned veteran here you're going to have to raise the bar and exceed it because this course is going to ask a lot of everyone it's an interesting point you're making you know we talk about this in human athletics all the time right everyone's getting bigger stronger faster records are being broken all over the place the same is true for the canine athletes as well yeah these courses are getting longer and the dogs are getting faster 2014 to 2021 is just it's a leap and what we're gonna see tonight i think we're gonna see some of the fastest times tonight well let's take a look at the course that we have for this competition here today and it is interesting this course is specially put together just for this competition 20 obstacles in total the dogs and their handlers will have to navigate you get your standard drops you get your teeters your a-frames your dog walks and it's not just about being the fastest dog it's about being clean and it's about how you run the course as well there's a lot of intricacy to this and that's what terry took us through a little bit earlier exactly how to run this course effectively the shetland chief dog handled by jennifer crank of bickerington ohio jennifer is not new to this world team member national agility champion winner here at westminster the fastest dog in qualifying in the 16-inch class the last dog to run canada overtake madison and be a champion here at westminster jennifer it's a good lead out so she can do that front cross teeter you stay on it there we go through the tire frame touch beautiful get into that tongue i love she's saying good good she's rewarding her dog verbally [Music] [Applause] your new winner that was awesome and celebrating as they should ah like i said she's not new to this jennifer leigh had a great run [Applause] right through the tire look at the focus mom where are we going checking in over that a-frame this beautiful running a-frame that's gorgeous good good she's rewarding her dog verbally in about just five seconds i mean this is something just amazing and then jump into the hands everybody's happy dog handler so be the shetland sheepdog out of pickerington ohio the last dog to run and our first winner of the night by more than five seconds as well at the masters agility championship at westminster the 24 inch high class is elvira the bronco italiano handled by deborah pereira of north stonington connecticut the mistress of the dark our second dog to go in the 24 inch class i like a dog named elvira ready ready to go [Music] here we go it was interesting to read first dog of this breed to be a champion and to have this level of success in agility oh taking a look around it's just just gonna cost some time no big deal they're out there with the top down going down pacific coast highway they're enjoying it that little tunnel camera right there it is funny backside our first two big dogs very just sort of cautious of measure the eight inchers they were going they attacked of course [Applause] [Laughter] [Applause] i think we have a fan favorite already and a new leader there we go [Applause] [Music] girl okay here's that teeter just casually going up casually going down [Music] and same thing here on the apron it's just like got the top down we're cruising down pacific coast highway and then i love these weapons almost looks like elvira's sniffing every ball so who's been here oh yeah i remember you i caught you earlier jumpers with weeds earlier [Applause] andres samuels and gabby between the two of them they've won this jump height five out of the eight years so we're gonna see some competition yeah lark is on the move right now oh my gosh that was an amazing teeter [Applause] there we go [Applause] get to that back side beautiful blind cross keeping the speed going all the way through this watch this watch this dog oh that's amazing and look at those weave pulls get to that backside kick to the other side turn on the afterburners this is it new leader there it is [Music] look at this teeter just full striding all the way to the end puts on the brakes and then just waits it hits and off we go through that tire look at that extension on that look at this look at that didn't this escape just flew down it and those weep holes just amazing and here's another look at those weak poles just flying that's just amazing execution of weeds the next dug up in the 24 high class is kaboom the border cod and we're back up to 20 inches still this is our last dog in the preferred height this is a dog that's used to winning isn't it yes she won here in 2017 and 2018. [Applause] and kaboom's one 24-inch jump height and now kapoom's jumping 20. you can see why yeah there's a little more speed happening now there we go [Applause] tapper's going to get everything out here look at that that was awesome there it is [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] i mean right from the start here we go just putting it down real quick got to the end of that teeter real quick look at this a-frame up and over a couple steps making sure i get in the yellow there we go and then off we go beautiful shot i love that shot to the tire look at the focus on that dog these border collies don't mess around on this course no they do not and that is happiness right there the next dog up in the 12 inch high class is bilbo the papillon handled by britney imhoff of roseland virginia bilbo's precious the registered name of this dog so a nice little lord of the rings homage here as we have three left to go in this class can anyone unseat phoebe who was the first dog to run in this class had a time fault but has continued to lead well britney is no stranger she's been here before she's been on the world team won the national agility championship she's gonna push for everything she can get out of bilbo [Applause] first person to do that got the lead of the split yep here we go get that contact beautifully done get to the backside stay on track stay on track we're gonna have a new leader come on smash again there we go 34-39 [Applause] look at that extension getting up right there jump a frame coming down look at the focus looking where they're going almost like spotting that line where they have to go and these weep holes nice sweet poles look at that beautiful but the 20 inch high class is truant the border collie handled by cynthia hornum of elgot city mara registered name for truant don't be late good advice [Music] [Applause] backside stay in there stay in there got a chance you got this you got me [Applause] [Music] [Applause] do i need a leash here we come chewing up and over that a-frank look at that focus looking for that spot where it needs to go beautiful just flying down that dog and pushing those weed pulls out of the way there you go just like i said pushing those weave pulls out of the way just the beginning of westminster week here at beautiful and historic lindhurst in terrytown new york up the hudson river from manhattan but our masters agility championship is in the books our five class winners of which be the shetland sheepdog out of pickerington ohio is your overall masters agility champion and boy was there a big reaction in the room jennifer crank these handlers saying she was in shock because he welcomed you back for a final time terry why was that such a big deal that b was the overall champion simple the the champion has come out of the 20-inch class seven of the last eight years and this year it came out of the 16-inch class and jennifer's done it twice now so a big win for b a big win for jennifer listen this is so much fun this is my third year getting to be here at westminster getting to be a part of the masters agility championship what made tonight fun for you the relationship between dog and handler i mean it didn't matter what happened on the course there was love love everywhere on the course and at the finish line but when some of the handlers stepped up to the line they knew they had to give it their all and they did whether they went out in flames or not they gave it their role because they knew that's what they had to do [Music]
