getting into SIM racing can be daunting there are thousands of products and the cost can easily get out of hand so what if I told you that there's a way to get affordable beginner Hardware without having to break the bank really I would say that sounds fantastic let's go [Music] and with that welcome back to overtake.gg in yet another episode of Joe's Hardware Corner I've been doing Sim racing as my job for a couple of years now and I've seen quite a few wheels and pedals in this time and let me tell you one thing there's definitely good Sim racing Hardware out there that is Affordable so let's get right into it and have a look at four different pricing stages to find the perfect fit for you level 1 the used Market the easiest and the cheapest way to get into SIM racing is to have a look at the used market after all maybe you're still unsure whether Sim racing is the right thing for you or whether you would even like it so having a look at the used market and grabbing something on the cheap might be the right first step I personally also started with a used wheel and pedals as I wanted to experience Sim racing first before committing to it for me the first step was a Logitech G25 a Sim racing wheel and pedals combo that had certainly seen its Fair share of days from a technical standpoint the G25 still is a Good Wheel but I would rather have a look at the G29 its successor the Logitech G29 is the most sold beginner wheel on the market and should be easy to find used for reasonable price I would suggest you don't spend more than 150 Euros on it otherwise you may as well be looking at new hardware but I highly recommend this wheel it's cheap it's compatible with PC Xbox and Playstation has a lot of room so it feels high quality and with the button layout it mimics a standard game controller which makes it usable with any type of racing game Need for Speed Forza Horizon or hardcore simulation games like asado causa compression are all compatible and enjoyable to play with the G29 biggest downside of the set of course the pedals which don't offer a lot of resistance which makes them not really fun on to use for advanced Sim races but to begin with they're totally fine and to round up the used Market section you can of course also have a look at the following wheels too maybe you'll find a good deal that gives you even better Hardware level 2 for kids this goes on to all the parents watching you have a kit and you want to make them really happy for the next birthday or do you want to become the cool uncle or the cool auntie and get on the kids good side gotcha your wheel needs to be good looking it needs to be cheap needs to be smaller so it's designed for children's hands as well as pedals that children easily compress then maybe the thrustmaster t128 is the right choice for you we got the send over from thrustmaster a couple of days ago and I have to say this is not designed for me the motor is weak the rim is Tiny and my size 46 foot is bigger than the paddle itself but then it daunt me the thrustmaster t128 is the perfect wheel and pedals combo for kids and to get them into racing games with proper Hardware yes the thing can't compare with what the adults play with but it doesn't have to we got a 200 euro wheel and pedal combo here that's a really good price to get into SIM racing it's available in an Xbox variant it's available for PlayStation and both variants are compatible with the PC and it takes all the boxes for good beginner wheel with real driving feedback in a small form factor so if your kits are between 6 and maybe 13 this might be the right choice for you and I actually have a surprise for you as we are giving away this model here which is currently with me but soon could be with you and all you have to do to win this is to go down in the video description follow the link to our giveaway and subscribe to the YouTube channel maybe even you are already down there maybe leave a like comment on this video and ring the bell for mobile notifications so you won't miss any new uploads here on overtake but let's jump forward to level 3 and what I call real beginner gear okay now we have a look at gear that you want to pick up if you want to get into the hobby of sim racing and want better pedals than the G29 has to offer and maybe if you're over 13 years old and want the real Driving Experience there are a lot of good candidates in this price range some notable mentions are the Logitech g923 for roughly 420 Euros maybe a bit pricey the thrustmaster t150 for 230 Euro which sadly doesn't have the best Pedal set but you can upgrade it which will cost you again roughly 200 euro then there's the thrustmaster t2 for rate as well the bigger brother of the t128 where I already did a full review of which you can find link now in the top right but in my eyes there's a clear winner in this category that mixes good force feedback with a good pedal set for only 300 euros and that's the thrustmaster T 300 RS GT Edition yes this wheel is on the older side and the t248 is basically its successor but in all honesty this still is the much better wheel and if your Ambitions in Sim racing are to play some casual rounds now and then this set is all you will ever need sadly I don't have one with me to show you in the camera so I'll make this one quick they are fantastic to begin Sim racing with and are unmatched in this price category they are compatible with PlayStation and PC they can be mounted to desk and they feature the best Pedal set by far in this sector with the possibility of upgrading them in the future this is the wheel to get if you are certain that you want to start with Sim racing and now level 4 direct drive this last tier is for everybody out there who doesn't want to settle for second that wants the best technology possible at this moment in time this is the moza R5 a 5.5 Newton meter direct drive wheelbase that doesn't have any gears or belts in it and will guarantee a seamless and smooth 4 transition from your motor to your hands the best Sim racing Hardware on the market that often costs more than a thousand bucks features this technology direct drive that mimics Real Racing so close as it can be and I also use a moza direct drive wheelbase for my daily driver the moza R5 and now moza put out the R9 in a smaller factor to make it more affordable and it's called the R5 and it's almost identical in the way it feels on track only that this one is a little less powerful than the R9 but still I highly recommend the moza R5 it was really a pleasure driving this so definitely check it out you can find all the links to all the products I've shown you today in the video description down below and if you are purchasing the R5 you get it in a bundle as well together with the es steering reel and the SRP light pedals both were all right would say the rim is comparable with the Logitech G29 or the t300rs ttrim but I would say it's a bit better manufactured as the leather grip is really really nice to the touch the pedals are of high quality as well and hold their ground in the beginner type space but I would recommend purchasing the brake pedal upgrade kit that is a 32 Euros extra that will make a big difference in the brakes performance so all in all we will end up here at a price of 672 Euros which isn't beginner friendly at all but if you want to charge into direct drive immediately and want a full set of pedals a cool wheel rim and a direct drive wheelbase this is the cheapest you can go and let me tell you again Moses really building some beautiful crafted Hardware so this won't feel cheap in any way and it isn't like any of the other products on this list feeling like a toy but rather it feels like real racing hardware and now it's your turn if you are an advanced Sim racer what Hardware would you recommend to a beginner let me know in the comments down below and if you are a beginner and are searching for beginner type Hardware maybe check out the comment section down below maybe you'll find a really good suggestion down there because our community is smart when it comes to sim racing hardware and if you're searching for load cell pedals on the cheap I can direct you to the other tech phone pedals I reviewed a few ways back a pedal set like I have never seen before but that's it from me today thank you so much for tuning in see you next time around cheers foreign
