[Music] hello my friends welcome back to another video so before we get started i just want to say i hope that you all had a happy holiday if you celebrate if you don't i hope you had a good day nonetheless um i'm glad it's over that's all i'm gonna say so this video is like a stress relief for me um so i've gotten a huge request for a full a to z dutch poor tutorial a lot of people have a problem with their paints their consistencies uh another big one is the blow dryer isn't strong enough i will tell you if your paints are the right consistency you can pretty much blow them with your mouth it's got nothing to do with the strength of the blow dryer i use several different blow dryers because each one the concentrator on the the the end of the blow dryer has a different shape so therefore it's a different outcome if you're looking to achieve a dutch pore like let's say canelo sirocco from canelo siraco are who makes gorgeous dutch pores if you've never heard of her check out her channel i will link it above she has these beautiful fan fan-like images in her dutch pore now i believe the secret to that is this right here you see that shape i'll give you a comparison do you see the difference in that you have a rectangular shape here and this is more of an eye or an almond shape this shape right here when blowing straight at the paint will create that beautiful fan-like shape now they all have different shapes which means they all have different outcomes but you can achieve that same fan like shape that you get from this with this but it takes practice it takes wrists um you have to know how to move your wrist in the right way um how to aim the air you shouldn't be aiming straight down at the paint you should be aiming at the paint if that makes sense so the blow dryer the actual dryer itself the speed all that like i said it doesn't matter if your paints are the right consistency they will move with your mouth alone um my my favorite blow dryers to use are the this one here this one here and this one here these two have that long rectangular shape and this one here this who i named angelina blo lee has a half rectangle half almond shape so it does really good but that that is how you're getting that perfect fan like shape with a good concentrator not the blow dryer so for today what i'm going to do is i'm going to show you how to mix the paint i'm going to show you how to aim the blow dryer and i'm hoping that this will help you improve your skills but just remember that rome wasn't built in a day it takes practice and practice in practice again i'll mention canelo if you go way back to the beginning of her channel her dutch pores were pretty but they were nothing like they are today it's practice practice makes perfect in any one of these techniques one other thing about the blow dryers you may be saying why have all these blow dryers if one works the best well here's the thing i love this little blow dryer for canvases up to a 12 by 24. if you're gonna go bigger you're gonna need something with a wider air path so that's when i pull out the big guns okay um for women especially it's hard to maneuver a big blow dryer like this that has a very long nozzle you know it's hard especially on a smaller this is a 14 by 18. so especially on a smaller canvas like this when it's a long nozzle like that it's very hard to to control because our hands are not as big as men's right so this one right here i love her absolutely love her i call her flo she's in my amazon shop right next to this one in my amazon shop though it is white with blue but it's the same exact blow dryer and she just maneuvers around these canvases like a boss trust me so that's why i have multiple different blow dryers plus it's like makeup you can't have just one lipstick right so you know i'm a hoarder of blow dryers at this point because you always feel like you're gonna get something different out of the next one but i use them all they all do the job like i said if the paint is the right consistency it will blow with your mouth so if you're struggling with the paint not moving that paint is way too thick so that will be the first thing i show you right now how to mix your paint i am a girl that likes to do things the easiest way possible so i want you to erase the the memory in your mind of measurements okay the only important part that i'm about to do right now will be the water so i want to make a tube apparently full of paint i chose this because it's clear i want you to be able to see so i want this to be up to the top full so i have enough for my canvas by the way you can always store these paints afterwards lowly vape which i do have a coupon for in the description has great squeeze bottles i don't do enough dutch pours to store paint uh but if you're really into that they have them uh and they got really good tops you unscrew them and spray out your paint and then screw it back on squeeze out your paint that's the word i'm looking for but anyway i need to make a canister full of white paint here for my 14 by 18. now how much paint do you need to make resin there's a calculator for artresin.com they have a calculator now because resin is fluid if you really want to get an exact measurement for your canvas of how much white paint you would need to cover it you can go onto artresin.com and put in the dimensions of your canvas what i do is i make a big container full and then if there's anything left over i put a rubber glove over the top of it it seals it off and i just put it away in whatever i make it in and because you're always going to use white right so that's not a big deal and as for my collars i make enough just for that specific pour so for our white paint what i want you to do is whatever container size you are using i want you to fill your container a quarter of the way with paint then you're going to take your flowtraw american flowtraw give it a shake you should strain it i have a little sieve here i got strainer slash sieve with some really fine mesh to it that's what you want okay and you can just strain it right through there into your canister now i will do one part paint two parts flow troll so i'm gonna fill the flow trial up double the amount of paint that i have in there let's see if i could do this this jug is pretty heavy here you know what i'm gonna do i'm not gonna strain my this time because it's just too it's a full jug and it's just too heavy to hold both at the same time all right so now i've put my filtral in there what you want to do is you want to mix them both together and it's going to be too thick it's going to be way too thick so you're going to have to add water let me show you the consistency of this way too thick so now what we need to do is start adding our water a little bit at a time what i have here is five and a half ounces of water this way when we're done adding the water we can see approximately how much we used so into here i'm gonna add a little bit of water mix it in test it to see if it's the right consistency and i will be showing you the right consistency on a piece of paper to make it easier but for right now i'm just going to mix in my water and check it myself too thick now i will say that was a cup of paint i put in here and two cups of flour and we are very close it's just something you you have to keep adding a little bit at a time and we're going to go for a little bit more and that's going to be plenty so five and a half ounces i would say i used three ounces of water so if you want must write down a number i would say three ounces of water one cup of paint two cups of flotrol and now we're good it flows right back in to itself i don't know if you could see that but i'm going to put it on a piece of paper for you to see how fast it's running so now we have that ready when it comes to paint the typical paints used are either a fluid a heavy body or a medium body paint medium to soft body paint so what i'm going to do is mix up three of the colors i'm going to be using because these three are all different consistencies to show you what you really need to do here so for a fluid style paint what you want to do is however much paint you want to make is how much floetrol you're going to put in this cup i don't want to make too much of it but i'll i'll keep the leftovers because these cups have lids all right now what i'm going to do is squeeze into this cup about a teaspoon of color these are very pigmented so you don't need that much give it a stir and i'm going to do this in the order that i want you to do it in now i happen to like that color it's not as bright as it should be or as dark as it should be but i'm really liking that color so i'm just going to leave it at that shade i'm not going to add any more next is my heavy body fluorescent magenta by golden so for this you're going to put about a grape size amount in your cup now again this is just making enough for one to two dutch pores it's not making in bulk if you want to make in bulk you just double whatever you're seeing me do here so to this now with a heavy body i want to add a little bit of flow troll make it into a paste because if you add all of your flow troll in at once sometimes the colors will clump and then it's a pain so we'll add a little bit in at a time until we put in however much flow troll or if we want a half a cup of paint we'll keep adding it until it reaches a half a cup okay so now that it's a lot thinner i could add all my flotrol in at once and give it a stir so there's that color for the soft to medium bodied paints these would be like a liquitex an artist loft that's in a tube again put about a grape size amount in there and these mix it nice you don't have to worry about them clumping pour in your flotrol and give it a whirl so now we have three colors mixed up i will be using more colors but they're all the same type of consistency so i'm not going to bore you with mixing them off but we have three colors three different types of paint consistency now what do we do well our thinnest paint is the white so we need to make all of these paints be the same consistency as our weight that we have here which is very fluid okay so what i will do is a good tip is take your stick and go back and forth in the paint if there's a lot don't go down deep with the stick go up towards the top because you're not getting a true feel when you're down through all that paint there go right up to the top and go back and forth with your stick to feel the thickness okay and i'm going to show you another trick to check in a minute but so you feel the thickness go into your cups you can automatically tell that one's thicker so a few drops of water at a time and you're gonna keep adding in that water until it feels like your white paint that you just mixed up key is to have all the same consistency so i'm feeling it i'm letting it drizzle off the stick still a little too thick a few more drops of water i'd say i have about a teaspoon and a half of water in there by now and now we are good okay this one though here is believe it or not thinner than that first one which was a fluid so colors matter um if they're a mica color like a metal a gold or a silver those are always going to be thicker but the key is to just mix them all with the flow troll first and then make them all match that white paint make them all the same consistency so that feels good this one won't need much a couple of drops and then we're going to test them because even though they feel good they may be still not the same so the way to test them is to put them all on a piece of paper side by side tilt the paper and see if they all roll at the same speed okay so i'll get the paper here just finish mixing that in all right so we'll take this we'll put a dollop of that a dollop of that make sure you have enough for them to actually flow and make sure they're the same size puddle approximately even though that one's a little bit bigger because if you have more paint in one puddle than the other then of course that one's going to roll faster right okay so then you want to pick it up and then tilt see how the blue is going faster than the pink so that means that this needs a little tiny bit more water and this one does too these are the same consistency this one is thinner so what i'll do is i'll go back and i'll put a couple of drops into my colors get them all i'll test it on the paper again get them all flowing the same rate of speed and then we'll be good to go you're going to want to keep the back of your canvas clean so make sure you put down some tape burnish it down really good put your four little feets in there and then make sure your canvas is level with a uh level an actual level because if it's not level your paint is going to pour off one side more than the other and it's going to ruin your design so now it's time to design your plan of attack we'll say your war plan so what i want to try to do is again another one of these corner dutch pores where the design comes out from the outside in so the first thing that i need to do is put down my white paint now there's multiple ways you can do this you can pour it on tilt it around you can pour it on spread it around with a spreader i have a very good one in my amazon shop it's called an oxo omelette flipping spatula has a very thin blade on it um i would show it to you but it's got blue paint all over it and it's soaking so you can use something like that or you can pour it on and use the blow dryer to spin it around blow it over the edges today i'm just going to take it i'm going to pour it on right in the center of the canvas a big puddle of it and we're going to tilt it around i'm going to make my life easy today so just pick it up move it around get most of the top covered before you go over the edges and then you can kind of just go over the edge and tilt it around until it's all covered just like that and then it'll be nice and flat all level and you won't have to worry about it so that all done that quick only problem with doing it that way is you need to change your gloves because they're going to be soaking wet with paint you could try to wipe it off with paper towels um because gloves are a rare thing at this time personally at this point i do not wear gloves because i'm going to just be pouring the paints down and using the blow dryer i'm not really going to get much on my fingers besides that little bit that i just got moving the canvas okay so colors i'm going to be using you saw three of them i've added in my egyptian coin prism pour by color art beautiful gold and these are all mixed the same way that you saw me do the first three i added in dioxazine purple some emerald green from deco art and some bright aqua green by liquitex and i think what i'm going to do is i'm going to pour down first the blue green and purple so we're going to go right along the edge here like so and then i want it to come around this edge too so i'm going to go like this just like that okay it may go off the canvas i may have to add a little bit more to bring it back down but we'll see how it goes once i add the other colors so next i'm going to put down that beautiful green just like that i'll do the purple next will be the gold always sandwich the gold in between colors it will create cells for you or any metallic for that matter then i'm going to do the bright aqua green i am being heavy-handed because i know a lot of this is going off of the canvas right now we'll do the fluorescent pink or magenta i should say and then the quinacridone magenta and then we're gonna torch really quick the entire painting ready and then it's time to blow it out so for that you want to aim your blow dryer down at the paint like this angle not straight down like this hopefully you can see the angle i'm at you're kind of skimming over the top with the air this is on low it has two speeds so we're gonna start right here [Music] [Music] [Applause] okay and then instead of being lazy like i usually am and trying to struggle to reach this i'm gonna pause you and i'm gonna flip it around and do the other side it's much better doing that instead of struggling and like i said screwing up because you just don't want to move things around and that's usually me now this thing may fix right here but i'm going to concentrate on this side first [Music] [Applause] so the only thing that i'm not digging right now is the little bit of space here so what i'm going to do is take just a little tiny bit of paint white paint and i'm going to just kind of push that one area back with the paint just kind of let it do its thing there i'm gonna go right in between there and just push it back a little bit besides that i think i'm going to leave it alone i'm kind of happy with it i'm really really loving the colors they are really really pretty and i have some odd cells developing here but the cells down over in this and here are just phenomenal and they'll continue to develop but i actually like that i really do so this could be displayed this way and then the opposite way well it could be displayed whatever way you want to display it just show you the colors here this is just beautiful the fluorescent magenta really gave it a pop so that's it my friends you know you let it dry and then you figure out if you want a resin it or if you want to varnish it i prefer resin for all my paintings i use ks resin i do have a discount code for that and um it's a really good resin it's got all the qualities you want for not only coating paintings but for doing resin art for doing uh coasters it has a very high heat tolerance i believe it's the highest out there so it's really good but we're going to let this one dry and then when it's dry hopefully it doesn't move um one thing you could do to help that is to continuously for like the first half hour keep going underneath the painting with a popsicle stick or with um your finger to get rid of the excess strips that are pulling the paint down from the surface that will help in a good level spot for it to dry and there you have it a dutch poor tutorial i hope you guys enjoyed this if you did please click like please comment if you're not subscribed please consider doing so you can check me out on facebook i have a facebook group called united we pour fluid art group a lot of great people in there sharing their arts uh getting tips and tricks and helping each other being helped it's a really great stress-free drama-free zone so if you want to check that out that's in the description along with um all the links for my amazon shop where the blow dryers are those are under the canvas and tools for acrylic pouring tab along with a paint area that you can look through i have cups in there all kinds of things and like i said the lowly luffy squeeze bottles if you like to store your paints those are the perfect thing to do them in so i love you all oh listen starting this week i hope i am going to be doing a uh back to basics series we're going to go all the way back to the beginning of acrylic pouring and learn some of those older fun easier techniques so make sure your notification bell is on and as for the giveaway that i did with canelo sirocco art we have a winner for both of us we are going to announce that this week sometimes so be on the lookout for that i love you all i think i have a chicken or something in my work [Laughter] odd chicken butt there he is i love you all until the next time happy pouring
