[Music] all right so i'm gonna make a chord progression and give it to two different types of producers the first producer is a beginner he's also one of my students and he's only been producing for about eight or nine months now the second producer he is a multi-platinum producer from france he's worked with people such as swiss beats rita aura he's also done a couple soundtracks in the taken movie as well so it's going to be really interesting to see what these guys can come up with if you do love this video make sure you subscribe give us a big thumbs up comment down below it will be much appreciated all right let's start all right so i have no idea what i'm actually going to be playing but i have told them that they can pitch up pitch down change the tempo of the chords but they have to keep the same progression so i will be sending them over the midi file [Music] that's pretty cool [Music] that's pretty cool as well [Music] yeah that works though i think that works pretty nicely i can't add a passing chord pretty high tension back to the release i could add it so i'm going from that f sharp seven b flat on the base to a b flat major seven with a flat five and a f sharp five i think it and is return back nicely to r1 [Music] i don't know actually i might put it in i might not i'm going to be sending over the midi file to them and uh let's actually see what the beginner producer can do with these courts hi there my name is george monroe originally from sheffield england we're now based in interbrook austria i make house disco and techno mostly i've been producing since march last year it's not even a year yet i'm also one of many students and i've been given the task by him for making a track let's get into it so the first thing i did was uh took the chord progression and put it into diva with the intention of finding a sound that i could then place the rest of the track on and then what i did was added a kick drum and then from there on i built the grooves upstream this is how i always tend to work at the start of a house track i like to build the the groove of the track and then things like melodies and that will follow afterwards so the next stage from this point onwards was i went to find a vocal some people prefer to work with a vocal at the start obviously i've given a chord progression to this as well we've done it this way this time and this is the vocal we found [Music] so now we've got the vocal we've got a nice percussive section like a nice groove uh we've got a nice pad with the chord progression so what is missing is the bass line and it sounds like this what are they [Music] saying [Music] after this i added a couple of loops and just a couple of not necessarily dominating drum loops but just there's a lot of interesting effects loops that you can find on splice or loop cloud in this case i use splice and i mean you know you could argue that it's cheating using lubes i guess it is but at the same time it also saves a lot of time i'd much rather have a finished product than sit here for hours on end trying to recreate things that are already so well made and just available there for you to use let's listen to the loops [Music] i [Music] and then later on i felt like the track needed um a bit more depth to it you can get a lot of interesting textures and grooves just by adding specific noises in specific places which is what i like to do a lot [Music] okay but as you might be able to hear this is not very well mixed down this is very much my rough draft version so let's move on and have a look at my mixdown version of the trap [Music] i can't stop [Music] uh [Music] all right so i think george actually done really well considering he is a new producer i mean he's been produced for less than a year and uh if he can turn over this sort of quality he's definitely going to be one to watch in the later years for sure his sound selection sounded really good i think that the kick complemented the bass the bass complemented the clap and everything just sort of um gelled really well in the tune even before it was mixed it sounded pretty clean as well and he also mentioned that he used a couple loops for the tops now i'm not really too much off a loot person myself um but if i do use loops i make sure i cut them up and get really creative with them and just completely destroy them but then again that's just the way i use loops let us know in the comments down below if you guys think that using loops is cheating because i don't think it is i think it's a really cool way to get more creative that's just my two cents but overall i think that george done a great job i think if i had to pick out one bad thing about it i would say that the vocals could have actually done with a little bit more reverb um some delay or just some sort of creative effects over time they just sounded a little bit too dry and a little bit too static in the track but again he's been producing for less than a year he's been mixing for less than a year and that mix to me sounded really clear obviously still needs a lot of work on it but again for someone that's been producing for only eight nine months it's really good so i'm actually really eager to hear what the multi-platinum producer has done now he's from france so english is not his first language and making the video for him was a real difficult task so big salutes to him um for really getting this done because i know that it was really difficult for him to actually sit down and do a whole beat walkthrough in english and you guys need to remember these two producers are not youtubers so they don't have the correct camera they don't have the correct lighting um they've never really recorded their screens either because they just never have to so um please bear that in mind you know but again it's not the quality of the screen recording that matters it's the music that matters the most so let's have a look at what the multi-platinum producer did with these chords hello everyone my name is tufik i'm a multi-platinum producer from france and i'm one off of a production video called arrangers i have worked with artists like swiss beads bubba wally rita aura for the last one and so many more so in this video i will show you how i made that chord progression more interesting and we also break down the rest of the track too let's get started so i used the prophet six one of my favorite preset because prophet 6 have something very different than vst every note sound very different every chord are very different that's not like vst i don't know how to say in english but there is a lot of imperfection inside and this imperfection give a suit to the music so let me play with the same first half of the chord progression with the prophet 6. [Music] for me that's very different very different you can hear all the imperfections like i already said but this is what i'm looking for with the prophet six after what i did that's very simple so i recall the best of this same chord progression with the prophet six why because that's an easy way to make a practice and when i work with uh anarchy i prefer to fit to when i start sorry when i start with the analogy i start until i finish with it and after i work with vst okay next step i use the reactor from nasty instrument very effective love it love this vst so let me play you the simple melody i'll play on it we have to to choose a new direction and i choose to mix pop chord progression with drill music i start with a hat a drill pattern very classic after i add a checker with the same drum pattern same hat pattern let me show you which vst i used for the drum pattern that's a very old stuff i think the builder is from germany this is guess the first version i know there is a second version but it works it works don't care [Music] and the rim shot [Music] let's play the drum pattern [Music] of course we need a bath i used a airway from the aussie bank with a drum kit and i program it here as you can see something very simple with the same tricks for drill drill best really other way very very very classy but you will see how it sounds [Music] alone [Music] i don't have a lot of tracks i think less is more that's how we can keep a good dynamic on the track so let's play the chord that you already heard a special vocal effects that just a one shot [Music] from splice and the bass here and the drum kit [Music] let me pay you in salamat the guitar [Music] and an organ from arcade okay is a very very efficient weapon [Music] simple and i promise i can't play like this [Music] let's play the chorus [Music] okay let's see in detail what i did on every main part i will not go to the effects because that's very simple so let's check the first step the profit six with the chord progression [Music] okay great now let me play you with the first effects that are shoes [Music] [Music] okay guys it's time to finish with playing the music [Music] let me know what you think about this and again sorry for my english that's not my native language but i'm trying to get out of my comfort zone for noise wolf thank you very much everyone so i'm actually pretty surprised at how to fake handled this because i've been in studio with him before and i've heard loads of his tunes as well and even though he's a multi-genre producer majority of the tracks that i've actually heard from him are pop and when i mean pop i don't mean that cheesy type of pop i mean that popular type of music so whether it's r b trap afrobeats whatever it is whatever you can think of that's in the charts on the radios that's what i've heard from too thick before but saying that i do actually still think that this drill sort of drum pattern and 808 really work with them chord progressions in a really weird way it sounds really fresh it sounds really different and i still really like what he's done with it i love how he used that prophet six and if you've never played on a prophet six or any type of analog gear it's really different because as twofik was saying the imperfections when you're playing chords it's just a really different feeling when you are playing hardware stuff the tone of the guitar was really nice as well overall the track just sounded really polished and i can really see where to fit was taking this and he also mentioned that he likes to keep all of his tracks pretty simple he didn't even have that many stems in there or that many layers um and i i sort of agree with that in a really weird way because even when i'm producing i don't really fill out the whole spectrum too much because as a music producer as a pop producer someone that does a lot of chart music um our minds are always on what the singer is gonna do and um we always sort of make that demo idea send it over to the singer and then receive it back and then produce around the vocal itself that is obviously come back from the songwriter but overall like i said i think that he done a great job i think that both the producers done a really good job really different ends of the spectrum one done house that one done r b drill i don't even know if that's a genre but he sort of combined two genres together which gave a really really interesting result but that's going to be everything for this video guys if you did love this video make sure you hit that subscribe button drop us a big thumbs up comment down below as well it'll be much appreciated thank you guys so much for tuning in i'll see you in the next one [Music]
