in this video I'm going to show you how to turn this starter Camp into an immersive lore friendly home that will impress your friends and fellow wastelanders using only basic techniques and plans you can find freely in the game so stick around and find out how [Music] all right before we get started you're going to need two things first is the pressure plate unlocked with the advanced power connector plan found in game via these vendors and also the flamethrower trap which is awarded after completing the coming to fruition Quest [Music] all right the first step is going to be starting with a clean slate so we're going to store or scrap all the items currently within the camp leaving the main building this is an example Camp I put together for this demonstration but it shows a lot of different things that break immersion in the game such as floating items random item placement too many turrets a fusion generator for such a small space and a boxy structure with no personality we'll work on each of these in the upgraded camp next we're going to move the building back a bit from the road because it's a little too close at the moment and we could use some space for fences crops and defenses so what we're going to do is we're going to blueprint the entire building and move it into a better spot with more curb appeal [Music] where you place your Camp is entirely up to you I chose this position because it's at the top of a small hill with a nice slope up to the front of the camp while keeping the stream as a natural defense at the back all right I think that looks pretty good this layout should give us enough space to make a really inviting entryway into the camp now that we have the building in the right location what we're going to do is double up the walls so that it has a really nice Scrappy Vibe the easiest way to do that is to First add foundations all around the building which will allow us to place additional walls then switch all the walls from wood to metal door frames the reason we need to use metal is because they're one of the few door frames that will allow this type of back to back snapping now place the new door frames around the outside of the building and when you're done just delete the extra foundations next change the walls to whatever style you want feel free to play around with different wall combinations to find your own unique style I typically tend to stick with metal than wood since they're the most immersive but other sets you may have from in-game or even the atomic shop will work just as well [Music] now it's time to break up the boxiness of the building so we're going to add in a small one Foundation entryway with a roof to give the whole thing a brand new look I'm going to lower the entryway Foundation just a little bit which will give us space for our vendor and break up the front facade after placing an offset roof using a wall the game won't let you remove the walls since the roof is directly tied to it to remove the wall all you need to do is switch the roof to a corner piece which disconnects it from the wall then store or scrap the wall and switch the roof back to a flat piece we need to make sure the roof is supported or else it'll break immersion so grab a set of stairs and position some Upper Floor foundations so that their Center snapping point is where you want the columns to go simply snap them into position and then just delete all the floors and stairs we're going to continue upgrading the structure by adding in a foundation on each side using the height of the entryway this will again help to break up the boxiness a bit and give us a little bit more room to play around with inside feel free to get creative but the main takeaway here should be to break up the symmetry be sure to vary what you do on each side here I'm leaving the right side Foundation exposed with just a roof while the left side foundation will be enclosed with a mix of wall types okay now we'll add in the stairs and defensive walls before placing our vendor and crafting benches you may need to pull out your foundations to fit in stairs so be sure to place a temporary Foundation next to it so you don't lose the height if you can't remove the foundation due to an attached wall just delete it along with the roof so that you can add the stairs in then just add them back Scrappy thrown together cap so be sure to vary the style of your defensive walls to increase immersion people tend to overuse the short wooden barrier which can make the camp seem samey don't sleep in the white picket fences either I really dig them but ultimately you should find your own style and run with it [Music] before you put any furniture or crafting benches down be sure to place your rugs since it becomes way more tedious if you've already decorated [Music] when placing your vendor always be sure to make it as visible as possible the front entryway is a prime spot for this so that's where I'll add it for this build try to avoid placing all your furniture and workbenches around the walls of the interior instead use them to break up the flow which is a bit more pleasing to the eye immersive and makes it more interesting to decorate [Music] if you're trying to play something under a low roof you may run into errors or the items May Jump Up on the Roof itself while placing furniture or decorating you can just delete the roof and replace it later [Music] here I'm offsetting the fermenter and being sure to place both it and the Brewing Station outside so the interior doesn't get all I don't know steamy I guess [Music] next we'll work on powering the camp there's a few good options for immersive builds that are found in game I usually love to use the windmill generator or the gas powered ones as well I would avoid using generators that are too big or don't match the vibe of the cam such as the super reactor or the fusion generator [Music] I ended up going with a generator for this camp and I think it fits pretty well [Music] all right before we get into decorating let me show you how to merge items using the pressure plate let's say you want to merge the flamingo down into the radiation Barrel grab a pressure plate and place it on an even surface select it and move it slightly and then place it again this will drop the plate down and allow you to merge put the flamingo on top of the barrel and place it on the pressure plate repeatedly select and place a barrel which will make the flamingo drop down into it this is a super handy trick we'll use throughout the decoration phase for the decoration stage I'm not going to walk through everything I did but I'll try to highlight key merges and techniques as they happen I'll be going room by room so you can get a sense of how I decorate each space individually first up is the Brewing platform where I'll focus on integrating natural materials stash boxes and barrels to give it a unique look reminder here that I won't be using any Atomic shop items in this build only things you can find plants for in the game for free here I'm merging the agua egg down into the fruit bowl to give it a little stand to rest on which adds a little bit more believability to the decoration next I'll destroy the table using the flamethrower trap so that I can put some items underneath this is a great trick to use on any table and increases immersion in all builds [Music] we'll finish up with some strategically placed wall decor and then move on to the bedroom [Music] alright so for the bedroom instead of placing down a plane bed let's merge a sleeping bag into one and add a bit more texture to the build place the bed a bit Askew to make it look slightly more lived in this is the post-apocalypse after all [Music] again you may need to remove or destroy the roof to get some items to place in this room is a fun Quirk of the system unfortunately now just decorate with bedroomy themed items add a little character here and there but keep it simple foreign I love putting stuff beneath the beds so firetrap that bad boy and place a suitcase stashbox or Floor Decor item underneath to help increase immersion now let's add a little bit of wall decor and fill in some of the empty spaces that are left [Music] for whatever reason the slamp did not want to place so a good trick is to place it on a rug which should allow you to place it on the dresser [Music] I actually came back a bit later and merged an oil lamp into this lamp because it felt way too bright for the space and it just looks so much better the main room is a great place to put some of the larger Furniture like couches chairs and shelves to spice up the cooking soap we'll merge it down into this old desk there are plenty of other tables you can use as well so feel free to play around with different emerges I changed the wall to a doorway to allow the stove to sit further back you could also burn the wall to accomplish the same thing but this was just easier once you get more used to merging you'll be thinking of new ideas all the time like this flag planter thing you can fire trap the weapons workbench which will let you place items in the cubby underneath I usually pick toolboxes and stuff but use whatever you like [Music] [Music] a great way to make your camps Stand Out is to merge items down into a large shelf like this all you need to do is put a few items on top merge them down to the next shelf add more items to the top and so on until you reach the bottom shelf when you're done and you've placed the Shelf where you want it fire trap it and place even more stuff underneath and on top [Music] as you're building you always want to make sure you're not mistakenly preventing access to your workbenches so always be sure to double check before moving on if you're having trouble placing wall decor on a window swap it to a normal wall first place your decor and then swap it back to a window [Music] now that we have the room filled out let's focus on lighting it correctly find the dark Corners dead zones and bright spots in your camp and adjust so you get a nice mellow ambient light throughout a good trick for getting power into your interior is use a piece of wall decor to place your Conduit on my favorite is the restroom sign since it's small and barely noticeable place the Conduit on the sign and make sure it's locked together attach a power cable to the conduit then move the sign once grabbing it again will allow you to place it anywhere while maintaining the connection I use this trick all the time to hide unnecessary wiring depending on your placement you may need to adjust the positioning of your conduit so that no wires show through your building this one is still showing a little bit so we'll move it a bit more out of the way [Music] the color light bulb is fantastic for adding ambient light especially the orange and yellow variations play around with it and have fun if you find that something is floating after you place it try merging it into a rug this will allow it to drop down into the ground for a cleaner look I'm placing the rug at the back of this ice machine so it's hidden from View [Music] when placing fences around your Camp always be sure to follow the flow of the land and mix up your fence types I usually stick with the half size barbed wire fence and the new Paddock fence we got from the seasons safe and sound event defensive structures are a great way to add in more scrappiness to a camp and can be used for a bunch of stuff including placing turrets okay this defensive structure fits well within the fencing but it's also floating so let's fix that using a blueprint grab a stair column and place it on Foundation it could be either the short or tall version then add another column on top of it place a floor decor item as close to it as possible it could be anything but I like to use really small items these nuka-cola trinkets really work great once you have them all together blueprint the whole thing and save then pull up your new blueprint place it on top of the defensive barrier where the wood joints come together since you're using a small Floor Decor item it should Place easily once that's done snap a large stair comb to the bottom and delete the other ones above now it looks like it's supported by these beams alright let's add turrets next there are some Random Encounters that come through this area so having one or two won't hurt I like to put turrets on top of stash boxes so they sit above the defensive barrier but some stash boxes don't play nice bust out a few trusty rugs and they'll play along you can't easily place things under the windmill generator but place an item on a rug and you're good to go [Music] if you don't have brambles from the atomic shop a great alternative is use blackberry bushes remember they come in two variants and can be placed in spots where you may need to hide imperfections or add some plant life to an otherwise Barren lawn [Music] thank you let's use the same stair column blueprint we just made to create a unique entrance at the front of the camp place the blueprint on top of both sides of the gate you may need to fire truck the gate and surrounding fences in order to get the bottom to snap into the ground remember finding creative ways to reuse blueprints can open up a ton of new possibilities for your camps now we'll add in a conduit at the top so you can shrink some caged bulb lights across and make a really nice inviting entrance [Music] all right we're almost done one last thing I want to show you is you can merge some of the wooden traps down into items as well so I really like merging them down into other barriers like this concrete one it really adds some junky Scrappy Vibes to the whole place and I just love it everything [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] thank you [Music] foreign foreign [Music] thank you so much for watching I really hope you enjoyed this tutorial because I wanted to show that you don't need Atomic shop items or crazy tricks to make beautiful immersive camps if you'd like more inspiration and ideas for your next build subscribe to my channel and catch up on all my immersive lore friendly camps in Fallout 76. have a great day I'll see you later [Music]
