hey guys and welcome dollar reviews well this is going to be another video in the beginner series guys it's a question I get asked a lot and that's how to run in a barrel on a brand new rifle so I've got the ticket III here I haven't used it before so I'm just going to run through how I personally run in a barrel there's a lot of talk some people all say that it's an absolute myth other people will say you've got to patch out after each shot and then you'll get other people that all like give you some sort of other version so like I say guys there'll be a lot of different versions out there but all I'm going to do is show you my time-tested method that just seems to work for me and has done for well over 20 years so first of all what you've got to remember is most rifles pretty much if not all of them have been testified at the factory before they've been shipped so that's why a lot of the time when you get a rifle if you look down the actual bore of it you can still see a little bit of dirt there so whether that's an accumulation of just dirt and grit and dust and everything from shipping or sitting in a box or whatever that's not really that important what is important is to clean it out before you actually use it so all I do is use a G 96 here you don't have to use the foam ball cleaner that I explained in the first video you just spray some straight down the ball and then just patch it out once so let's do that now so you need to do is just from the chamber to the muscle just push straight out okay so at this stage guys what I like to do is just use five rounds let's give it a generous squirt again does have to be too much it's a couple of squirts and then we're going to patch out once again okay so at this point guys I just repeat the process again another five rounds through it and then just simply patch out all right guys the reason I've come down range down now that we've shopped the last set of five is all I want to do is just show you the group here now I've made a couple of adjustments because I'm actually good at sighted in while I'm at it but the main thing is okay so my first shot was dead-on up in the right hand corner however my point of aim was in the middle so I made a couple of adjustments and then I thought well I'll just shoot the last four to see how tight we can get it let's have a look at this now we've got just on half an inch okay so the reason I'm showing you this is you will hear some people argue that unless you actually patch out after each shot for the first you know 20 or 50 rounds you won't be able to get the rifle to shoot accurately you'll lose accuracy etc etc I've honestly never found that I've just used my time-tested method and it's worked every time so guys now that you've actually done the five rounds patch out five rounds patch out five rounds patch out five rounds patch up okay so for the first 20 rounds all I do now is to simply use the rifle as I would normally so if you're out your shooting and you put you know another 20 through it or 40 through it just give it a normal clean with some foam ball cleaner and do the normal cleaning routine as I showed in the first video all right guys I hope that clears up some answers for you so till next time we'll catch it in
