Beater truck

why does everybody need a beater truck this is my dad's board no idea what term it is it's got some quirks it's got a v8 engine and that is the criteria of a beater truck you need to have an old truck that you can jump on the hood and hurt it you can throw as much wood in this thing as you want till you're sticking to buy Ford's in the shocks because not the shocks but where the leaf springs to make your own bump stick because you have so much weight in the back your carbureted v8 gets about one mile to the gallon but you know that you're way under size air cleaner is probably the issue it's not the old engine it runs on all eight cylinders one-eighth of the time it has duct tape to keep the battery in place occasionally an electrical tape to keep stuff than sparking on the hood if you get stuck you know your lunch will be able to pull you out inside the truck when you move into this luxurious cabin you find all your equipment that you can live for a month off of you find none of this new school push-button craft that breaks down you have four low that is so low in fourth gear you can still walk faster than the truck is driving and when you start it you have to fight the transmission to get it in neutral and then you turn the key maybe and the glorious v8 roars to life and anyone alongside you knows that you have a v8 and you are murdering the environment one rev at a time if you do get cold in winter wanna defrost the window the defroster occasionally makes a horrific noise and sounds like people are dying but besides that everything about this truck is still daily drivable you have modern things like blinkers that you can hear working but they don't light up except for the right side that no longer ice lights up unless maybe the truck is running you have things like a fasten seat belt light that never has came on in the history of owning this truck and a brake light that only comes on when you turn the key finally for some of the advanced interior features you have a glove box and a gun rack and now the blinkers won't shut off but it's okay you have manual windows because none lot electronic stuff to go wrong and in the back is where you find what this truck is made for woodcutting towing you have your chain saws and the chainsaw is just as manly as the truck because if you can get that chainsaw started you can cut absolutely any tree down that you want to on your little piece of property so this is why everyone needs a old beater truck because when you drive it when you sit up here in the cab and you turn this key that's not mounted on your steering column like every other key but when you turn this key and your v8 engine roars to life and you walk around front of the truck and you see that fan spinning none of this fan clutch and you see the gas dripping off the side of your carburetor that probably will cause a fire one of these days but you can turn it and you know you find the engine yourself and it's perfect and you open the oil cap and the nice amount of blow by that's non-existent just let you know your engine still healthy yes you know what you have is a piece of American history that should never be put to death
