That was really cool. I figured it was "real", but didn't realize it was completely operational and road-worthy.
I'm sure it's not completely street legal, but imagine being a police officer and trying to pull that thing over... like the cops trying to stop Marvin Heemeyer.
When Batman Begins was in production, there was a camera phone video someone posted of the tumbler tearing through downtown Chicago. I remember it taking a turn so hard it went on two wheels.
My wife's uncle worked on this film. He does scenic painting and miniatures. There is one scene that the batmobile wasn't in but was done with miniatures. There's a scene in an underground tunnel involving a garbage truck, I forget all the details. The scene is only a seconds long and took a whole team 3 months to make. Every detail down to tiny pieces of fake garbage for the truck had to be crafted. And it was all done because the batmobile had a slightly too big turning angle to shoot the film.
Movie making is a crazy art.
Edit: Spelling, stupid phone.
One of the Tumblers was the honorary pace car for a NASCAR race in 2005: http://www.batmobilehistory.com/pace-car-batmobile.php
I think it's a cool design for a vehicle, but it never really "felt" like the Batmobile to me. The 1989 Keaton car will always be what pops into my head when I hear "Batmobile."
I passed a Tumbler on the back of a Warner Bros. semi a few years back. It’s so wide they had to cut the “box” off the trailer over most of the car. I’ll try and find the photos we took.

The props/special effects shop for Dark Knight was across the street from my father’s business in Chicago. He ended up making some parts for them, and as payment they let us come and tour the shop. I actually got to sit in the batmobile and start it up. Unforgettable experience!
Wasted when given to the villains in the next film though.
The Fast and Furious Ramp Car is also sweet.
Coolest fucking vehicle in film history.
Cool, probably not actually between rooftops though. Just like ramps on the ground. Am I being pedantic?
