this is something i've always wanted to bring to you guys but it's taken some time to make it happen there's a story behind all of this which we'll get into in a minute but first welcome to my home garage okay probably not what you were expecting right i get it but here's the story many of you guys saw me start this whole channel and build this business from season one in my home garage where we started building tube chassis and roll cages and all kinds of other cool stuff but the big question is how did we grow it from the garage into what it is today with the big shop all the fancy tools the full staff and business forever the first step is i moved out of that house and that garage and into a small room for rent so i could afford the first shop that i moved into i had to reduce my personal expenses so i could afford the business expenses and all of the revenue that i generated from that business went right back into that business so fast forward to today i can finally afford the house with the garage in addition to the shop so i decided to challenge myself and try to find a way to help you guys grow your business from scratch this very simple list of tools that i have here on a modest budget is all you need to get started and together over the course of several videos we're going to grow it we're going to build it up using only the revenue generated from this very simple list of tools it's kind of difficult to build stuff without a surface in which to build them on granted we can work on the floor and stuff like that and i continue to do that to this day but a lot of people were asking me about this particular table this is the clutch fixture table from northern tool i found it on amazon and i said well hey let's give it a try while i know that just about any swinging d can run out there grab a piece of flat plate and maybe four tubes his legs and weld it all together well that's fine if that's what you want to do cool but this one is a pretty good bargain for what it is now the price reflects what it actually comes with its thickness and you know it's kind of rickety in some places and stuff like that but it's actually a good start and that's the point it's a good start so i got this for just over 200 bucks it includes some cheap clamps it includes some stops it includes some slides it includes a few different things pieces and parts that you can actually fixture up a job and do and realistically that's kind of all you need they're more than enough to get your basic parts built in the beginning and generate enough capital to upgrade them later that's the whole point of this now this table it's not strong enough for doing things like stacking up chassis and stuff like that on it but it is enough to do things like maybe some handlebars small weld repairs you know transmissions cast aluminum you name it just about anything can be done on this table that's a small weld repair you can even go as far as to like hang an exhaust off the side of it or something else like that because it is pretty heavy the only thing that i find that is just a little bit of an issue aside from the cheap fixture tools is that the table top itself is relatively thin it's only about 3 16 of an inch it may warp on you it may not hold a ton of weight but again all it is is enough to get you started and even for home hobby stuff i bet you it'll hold very very true for a very long time and yes down below in the description there is a link to amazon where i bought this table and we get a small commission if you purchase through our link but you can't really use the table to weld anything without a welder so that's what's next [Music] positively the number one question submitted to tfs is which sub thousand dollar welder should i buy well i don't tell people which machine they should buy i just simply do the reviews and stuff like that and i don't even make comparison videos but when it comes to my home garage this is the welder that i chose for several reasons this is the prime weld tig 225 out of all of the welders in its category in class this one produces the most amount of amperage has the most amount of control and comes with the best components that you could possibly get for a machine of this price tag the reason why the prime weld comes out on top aside from having the best of every category it also has the best customer service hands down it is hassle free and i know that if i have to depend on this in my home garage it's going to be taken care of in the least amount of time now if you remember my review video about a year before this one was made you'll know that i had the old original pedal and i said that that was kind of crappy well not too long after i made that video primeweld was listening and said well we gotta do something about that so now we have the better branded sewing machine style pedal that everybody loves and enjoys it literally makes this machine come to life and it's included in every single purchase now if you have the old style pedal you can go onto primeweld's website and buy the new one to replace that with it's relatively cheap as far as upgrades straight out of the box there's only two things that i decided to do on this machine one i put on the ck worldwide nylon tig torch cover i want to protect that lead and i want to make sure that it stays nice and clean the nylon is very very flexible extremely lightweight and ridiculously durable i chose it over the cheap denim ones because it will last longer it's uv resistant and it doesn't collect dirt i like to protect the lead and this is a fantastic choice to do it the second thing i added was the stubby kit in this kit you have everything you need to switch your torch over from stock to stubby consumables this means that you can add things like gas lenses bigger cups and it shrinks the size of the torch down which is fantastic this kit also includes tungsten now all of this i picked up over at weld metals online and if you use my discount code tfs10 at checkout you'll save 10 you can even get the prime weld there [Music] there's not really what we consider to be a ton of space inside of a home garage right by the time you get your welding card all set up and you get a toolbox going and your tables and some other things that you'll eventually get you realize that your space really starts to shrink down that's why it's a total no-brainer to start combining some of these things and the first name that came to mind was zt fab this combination tool cart and welding cart is the best kit you can get it'll set you back about 250 bucks it works with several other tool carts out there and let me tell you something there is nothing in this world quite like going through that experience of grabbing anything from zt fat now this is a weldable kit but right out of the box you can pretty much snap it all together and figure out exactly how it's supposed to work if you can't quite figure it out the instructions are ridiculously detailed the packages are labeled all of your hardware is included and it's completely usa made this is so hard to beat especially for the price now since i'm tig welding this i had to prep it up all of our metal has to be nice clean and bright and ready to roll so i took a couple minutes with my grinder and a flat disc cleaned up those edges nice neat and got it prepped up for welding now the beauty of this kit is how well it goes together and how easy and simplified it is and what it does for that price so i'm gonna shut up and we're gonna cue this awesome montage [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] do at some point in time i'll probably end up painting it or something else like that to keep the rust off of it but i haven't really decided exactly what i want to do now and i was in such a hurry to put it together so that's the way it's going to stay for the moment now paul over at ztfab is such an awesome guy that he has offered a discount to all of you viewers simply head over to alacart.com and put in tfs at checkout to save on your order tools tools tools you have several to choose from but let me make this very very clear a five dollar screwdriver will tighten the exact same screw as a 500 screwdriver so realistically you don't need to spend a lot of money the other thing is while my tool selection here at the home garage is kind of laughable it really is all you need in order to get something done you obviously need some wrenches i'm a big fan of the gear style wrenches that actually ratchet and turn themselves and all the rest of that good stuff and i don't need a massive selection of them all i have here is some basic standard and metric wrenches i also have a couple of adjustable wrenches aka hammers three different styles will usually do the trick next we have some basic hand tools pliers cutters pliers pliers pliers maybe a couple of files these files are not the greatest in the world but at the same time for just knocking down an edge no problem you can never have enough screwdrivers while most people are always chasing down a 10 mil i'm chasing down a phillips head so i have several i also have my tape measure nothing really fancy rubber mallet good idea next up is a socket ratchet set you know kind of universal i don't know what do they call this mechanics starter bob the builder happy hobby kit whatever you want to call it i didn't even know those were there how about that but nevertheless this small set will get just about anything you need to get done you don't really need a whole lot of specialty tools so realistically speaking a set like this not too bad of a choice i also have an upgraded style ratchet i like the flexible heads and where would i be without more hammers down in the bottom box is where we get to some of the power tools and essentials i picked up a couple of little cordless kits from dewalt i'm a big fan of dewalt i like using them no this is not sponsored but a drill will get you pretty far so will the cordless impact also need a grinder where would we be without a grinder this can handle all of your cutting grinding polishing shaping etc etc and don't forget your consumables to put holes in things i got myself a brand new set of drill bits i'm pretty sure i'm going to lose just about every single one of these in short amount of time but they're cheap so we're good i also have a screwdriver bit set i need those for all the little screws and stuff because lord knows we're always losing them but there is no such thing as too much practice and as you start your business and you start to grow and you start to expand you'll notice in the beginning that you're going to have some down time that's why you should utilize that time to practice and that's also why my top drawer is dedicated to exactly that weld metals online is the top source for everything that you want to weld and practice with or even learn with now i have all of the coupons in here a couple of kits i also run the pie cuts because i usually like to make sure that i have that all set up before i start going i have all the tubing kits i have chromoly i even have titanium keeping this box fully stocked with metal means that i'm never going to go into a job cold i always have something to practice on in my off time as well which really makes it a no-brainer now aside from all the practice metal we also have consumables ck worldwide laser tungsten in 332nd is the only tungsten i use yes you've seen me switch the colors over the years but until i found this which welds every single metal on every single machine i don't use anything else it's also the only color that's sold on weld metals i really only use four cups to do just about all of my welding so i have my number five standard my number eight gas lens my number 12 fuba cup and i also have the 16 bbw additionally filler wire these are all sold in packs of 100 and i have all of them sitting right up here in the bags ready to roll at any given moment i have all the diameters all the sizes every single variety i could possibly get including titanium realistically speaking this is about all you need to get started quite literally you can build just about anything you got to be a little bit clever and relatively patient but like i mentioned earlier we're going to take this very simple set of tools and we're going to start building some stuff and we're going to start generating revenue enough to start upgrading and getting more stuff that's what we're doing so if you want to follow along and you want to learn about how to do that make sure that you're subscribed and make sure you ring that bell so you don't miss anything that we're doing in here i'm really excited to get this one going but the big question that's probably writing on everybody's brain how much initial investment do i need well this particular setup that i have here of everything that i've shown you set me back 2800 bucks now you could probably get away with just a little bit less maybe a little bit more that's going to depend on the brands you buy the sizes the amount of tools and what specifics you need but remember keep it very very simple you don't need a whole hell of a lot in the beginning to get this stuff done now if that price is too high for you and you want to start griping and complaining i'll never have that much money get out now and run far away you
