And as soon you take it out the store it becomes Icemelon.
That's what happens when every bit of bit of food (especially not shelf stable food like produce) has to be flown in because the town is so remote and doesn't even have roads connecting it to the rest of civilization. It's also cold enough that cargo ships can't reach it most the year due to ice.
So shit that's heavy and/or bulky (watermelon is both) is going to be a premium price due to air freight and the space it takes in the plane. Probably also why the toilet paper is expensive (bulky even if it's light) and the condoms aren't.
Do jobs in that area pay enough to justify these costs? Like what do the cashiers at that store make?
Nice to see that they didn't spike up the price of Avocados.
Everything is understandable, but the $10/gal. of water. Like, Amazon a water filter or melt snow.
Huh.. now Norway doesn't sound so expensive after all.
How much could one banana cost? Ten Dollars?
I spent 3 weeks up there* working, a local told me that there is a pretty girl behind every tree, there are no trees within hundreds of miles...
I don't care how many gold chains you have... you ain't ballin until you pay 36.96 for half a watermelon
