[Music] all right at this time it's my pleasure to introduce our two semi-finalists our first player is from greenville south carolina he's a former derby city bank pool champion he's a two-time u.s open bank pool champion and he like his competitors is also a former derby city all-around world champion he holds the distinction of being the only man ever simultaneously inducted into the legends of bankpool and the one pocket hall of fame at the same time he's also the youngest man ever to hold that honor he's the owner and promoter of the great southern billiards tour sponsored by lomax cues nick varner queues and cases tiger products and andy gilbert custom cues ladies and gentlemen it's the canon shannon dalton [Applause] his opponent comes to us from angelus city in the republic of the philippines one of these days they'll rename this tournament after him but in the meantime he has the distinction of holding two derby city nine ball titles derby city one pocket titles the most recent coming last year and five derby city all-around world championships as master of the table and to show you he's still a threat he just recently won the manny pacquiao cup in the philippines he too is a member of the one pocket hall of fame he's also a member of the billiard congress of america hall of fame ladies and gentlemen sponsored by puyat sports arguably the most famous name in the game it's the magician it's efren reyes [Applause] good luck to both of you at this time i have the honor to send it up to the booth to mark wilson and his special guest commentator hall of famer nick varner go ahead guys tonight we have semi-finals of the 2015 derby city bank pool championship welcome pool fans my name is mark wilson along with us is pool hall of famer nick varner nick you walked into a pretty good match here yeah i tell you what i was getting ready to watch this match because you couldn't ask for a more marquee finish than this one uh the three players that are left and then john brumback drew the buy so he's he's into the finals and uh shannon's always been one of my favorites uh i like uh i really like the way he plays the banks the one pocket and the nine ball he's been a really great all-around player and uh and then uh and a fellow yeah yeah yeah it's uh got a chance if uh shannon can handle ephraim here got a chance to be in all kentucky final here so i i wouldn't tell you who i'm rooting for but i guess i better not i might i might be i might be going the other way but i'm good with either way the big thing here we got shannon has won the lag and set the break here rack number one race to three this will be single elimination from here on out because everybody has one loss shannon known for a super powerful game powerful stroke locked in on the break be a dry break well it's almost like he missed hit those or something yeah you all kind of just drifted forward a little bit unless he was you know sometimes they cut it just a little bit to try to play that one on the side no i'm not i mean that'd be the only reason the cue ball drifted because it had no spin but uh we don't know exactly what he was doing yeah i haven't seen any of the tournaments so far so i don't know how they've been breaking i know a lot of times in nine ball banks you don't want to make three or four right you got nothing to shoot at right but he's left there from a pretty good bank to start and i hung with oh man that has not been hanging all week uh uh so far but of course this is the first day that we've had the nine footer in it now which bank here you like mark you like the three or the nine i like the three just because a little shorter you can hit it yeah a little fuller i think shannon is content to play the three i think he just kind of think about where he wants to place the cue ball yeah i think he's gonna play the nine i think the three is kind of on that border line where he can't hold it and he don't want to cross it oh you're right he's going across corner here oh yeah well he'll owe one shannon oh one minus one now that's the first match i've seen for a while did they get ball in hand behind the head string or anything yeah no behind the head string yeah this is very traditional short rack banks grace setting up to play the four ball cross side he smiles he's disappointed he had a couple shots here and has failed to connect with them it looks like he's gonna play that eight cross corner by that uh one ball this would be a pretty looking shot to layer the pocket like a freight train yeah that was dead center that's so pretty dissected that pocket and now he's got a good cross side and he might uh if he makes this uh he might even get all the way out uh if he falls good on the one he gets but the key is not catching the point here on this uh oh perfect yeah no point there no it's like buddy hall says there's nothing in the way between those points this is a fairly routine cross corner we figure shannon sure get this one yeah if i had to shoot a bank that'd be close to my favorite there yeah so shannon's on a run of three and he's falling pretty good on this four too here so uh he's level run five and out here they need six but yes oh six oh yes ooh okay he's a little fast here so he spots one so he's got two good ones so he's leading 2-0 but given the way that shannon had popped in the first couple banks everyone's glad to get to the table because it did look like he might go all the way on out he made dad he probably would have run five uh yeah this is a little weird bank here he may try to spin it and lock it up hold it i don't know yeah oh he pinched it pretty good didn't he yeah he had to pinch that just about the maximum there it was laying a little bit tough and uh i can't tell shannon's not smiling so that five means that f5 he doesn't think it'll go and uh i know he may have to cut that eight cross yeah side uh five it's just a possibility i think the five's just a little too close to the rail to get away from the double kiss part of it yeah i don't think you can get it to go long enough i think it's laying where it has to end up below the side pocket well he's back to the fireball looking at it maybe he thinks he can twist this a little bit more than we think might be playing across corner too yes no effort close range on the eight looks like he's already declared that these balls out in space boy they're these are i think that some of the toughest banks to judge and when they're a long way from the rail i i like those banks where the ball is a little closer to the rail oh they're a lot harder when that object falls further off the railing i think he might be going to play this ball across corner maybe yeah it looks like that's maybe what the of course he's kind of running toward the floor he he turned to the referee and called something that that might mean he's playing something a couple rails yeah he might be yeah he's not playing across corner i know that not the way he's aiming maybe twice up and down and he got too much of it yeah yeah he was trying to play it twice need to cut it out just a little more mm-hmm shot like that one time freddie belvedere was showing it to me and he hit it real good first time and then i tried to hit it and i missed it pretty bad and he goes your pretty stroke won't do this okay everyone's playing uh before cross corner and uh so now ephram has won shannon still has two so the ball counts one to two and he didn't fall real easy no nothing he's got a shot but it's not easy cue ball pinned to the cushion so otherwise it goes away from the cushion much easier to try to play that two three ball cross corner here he then i don't know if he's going to hold this or cross it you know it's a funny thing with efren he usually likes to play a little bit softer banks in a circumstance like this oh he's not going to like this result for sure that's one thing about bank when you're playing a little bit of defense uh boy you always gotta be careful of the ball you're shooting because that's the end i wanna usually can get you yeah you end up leaving your opponent and shannon's got to be pretty happy getting this shot nice shot there he's going to play that that green one on the spot uh straight back you know they always make the joke about uh people from kentucky you know how babies always say uh dad dad first word out of their mouth when kentucky it's straight back that is funny kentucky widely known is the bank pool capital of the world to prove that we had 411 players in this event is that how many was did you imagine wow it's always the best attended event here yeah and multiple times been over 400 players in the bank pool tournament nowhere else in the world would you get 400 players good shot there that was nice and uh yeah he's gonna have trouble calling one here yeah okay the ball counts there from afrin two and uh shannon three and uh i look for him to play a safety here i don't think he has anything he can call and he's gonna leave him the full nine foot that's a nice speed there laid it on the end rail he gave shannon something to rest his hand on down there didn't he yeah this this could require a good hit it's a pretty cute shannon sky doesn't it i like that cue he didn't make it but he hit it pretty darn good from where he was at didn't he you know uh as an aside if you're going to be a bank bull player particularly short racks you have to be good at banking balls off the spot because it comes up so often those spot shot banks from long range and cross side of course across corner yeah and uh a lot of bank players hit that better and the people that shoot them straight in no it's amazing shot yeah i see a warping back and i'm scared to death of it now watch them they just hit him in there effortlessly yeah you got to practice that shot that uh well everyone hit it good yeah tied up and he's got good position here too on the nine uh to play that nine cross side and uh complete position with this oh short disappointed three to three i think he can cross this cross side i think he can roll this uh and go down toward the corner catch a long rail and uh so you put that low on it i think that held it up too much it came short i like rolling that right so it takes that spin a little better well also if he goes softer the cue ball went traveled all the way down all the way back if he goes softer doesn't depress the rail quite as much he's gonna expand a little better too but uh far be it for me to criticize the shot selection shannon's out there playing two cushioned hampers playing a one-pocket shot here for the safety part i'm gonna be careful he's left him a double kiss though everything what i'd like to do here is not even try to make it just bring a cue ball back where it's at and put the nine over here behind the eight and put him right the white ball on that end rail with the two again i play more safety here oh no he went for it i didn't realize i thought he had a double kiss well he probably did he hit it so thin he got away from the double kiss so i think nick was right he could have shot the two in two and left him froze on the rail he had a couple of good options to play safe but uh there's nothing wrong with leaning uh offensive there's our spot shot bank that we were just talking about how vital that is how often it comes up looks like he's ended up with a four here always a pretty way to end the first game yeah that's what we're gonna get to say watch it spin all the way around and touch every rail but two it's pretty this tracking because you get a long ways to watch it zero in now one thing he's on the hill here he needs one he's never going to touch the eight ball with any of his shots hey this is looking no a little short great job with the cue ball though wasn't it yeah shannon needs to get the eight ball in play because he doesn't want to go ball for a ball and prolong this he wants to get a chance to put some pressure yeah he's in a tough spot here i have to play safe from this this is not so easy to play safe and uh he may even have to jack up and go for this yeah then maybe he's only out sometime in this bank you just can't duck you just got to come with it well he's jacked up oh boy so ephraim's going to get a good chance here to play this two cross corner for the win game one he missed it by a good bit and uh kind of trickled on top of the cue ball shanda's not gonna have much of a shot i think he's if he can hit the eight i think he's gonna take him up there by that upper corner yeah time to get the balls in play sure two's blocking him but he needs to get that that eight getting it in position now now ephram's not too big a favor once that eight goes in unless he makes this next shot one point now he's put it over here where there's gonna be a safety ball a shot only yeah yeah that was good thinking too he took him to the opposite side where the the bank's a lot harder and uh so now this is a one thing about bank pull this is you can lose from here real easy if you're shooting right now oh yeah you're not uh you're kind of i think i'd go ahead and try to make eight here in that pocket he's standing that uh uh and go three rails with the cue ball and shoot it pretty hard and if you don't make it i try to come short where it goes back up table great call there looks like that's what the effort has in mind as well a little high left english four cushions with the cue ball he hit that good tell you what when he first hit it i thought it had a chance well just uh that was a great call by nick varner right there he hit there he hit that pretty decent too now shannon and he's got away pretty good because i don't think he can cross that across corner i just don't think it'll go long enough unless he go goes into a double kiss and so now the pressure's back on him because what he does here he's too straight back i'm pretty sure is what he said so to his left i would imagine oh he didn't hit it at all no he he's got to hit this fall in the nose the way this table's been stretching out he did oh nice shot there okay green one goes to athens gonna had a couple stumbles there for both players but reyes ends up the best of it rallies to win game one you know when you talk about the sport and you look at the filipino players to me their attitude and demeanor uh belies how much respect they have the support for the sport you don't see them uh disrespecting your opponent or not shaking hands or complaining or making excuses you know they just play and they take their lumps win or lose yeah efron's always had a great attitude investimani too now he made one on the break what does he have here not a whole lot right off the bat i just wonder if he's going to have to play that uh seven monsters i'll buy this yellow no you probably play the two yep that's what he's declared pretty shot uh-huh that's what i mean i like him ones on that rail a little better them space banks are a lot more difficult yeah i can't tell if that four will go across side but he called it he called it there but it said put the threes in the way yeah it's close i think he may roll this up no he went down oh what a shot he worked in there didn't he he hit the far side of the pocket that was a nice shot now here we all know he might be a little too far he may he's gonna maybe cross this uh six in that upper left-hand corner maybe i don't know if he can get out of scratch he may have to hit the cue ball low here i don't know if he can if he's got him well he's going up there so see what he's worried about that scratch a little and gorgeous yeah just found the home right there at the end rolling rolling rolling wiggled in so ephram's on uh he's got three if he's playing this one or two okay hey let's get another look at that cross-eyed bank that he manufactured an angle to a part of a pocket here yeah i think with the speed he bent and then it started sharpening oh and you can see that to the extreme edge of the pocket that was all he really had yeah i know it was a little tight that's why he needed that speed here's that spot shot bank is now it's really awkward from here yeah down 3-0 and uh how good did he hit that ball huh and hit some long railers where he's either close to the rail or an inch or two off he just seems like he addresses that shot those shots so good years of bank bull experience he's in the hall of fame of bank ball in one pocket of course yeah they announced a night at the hall of fame banquet that uh hey what he's left i believe he's left him a shot on that red one for across corner that three ball what they announced nick at the hall of fame announced that uh that uh shannon's the first player they put in the bank in the one pocket hall of fame that they put him in uh both of them at the same time that's cool and he's one of the youngest too yeah very experienced player he reyes hit that okay handled the cue ball well yeah it looked like that might have been a double kiss so he was playing that pretty gingerly [Laughter] i think he had more of an eye on not leaving chanting anything good than making that bang right didn't seem like he was going all out for that three probably yeah he wasn't as committed on that part as he was the defensive aspect okay shannon's trying to play this three rails and i don't know if he can get this short enough got to come close to that nine ball over there well he hit that awful good look how smooth did he hit that but just like next time he was fighting at longsville the whole way i think he might have been able to make it because he did hit a little he could have hit just a hair closer to the nine but boy what a tough three that was yeah a very smooth queuing actually smart shannon's wife she's sweating hard yeah what a great supporter yeah she's she's a great gal shannon and uh he got one lucky roll there now yeah yeah yeah actually it's been a great thing for shannon well i think his efforts debating on the eighth ball now he's back down looking at the nine no he's back to the air he can't do anything uh he can uh it looks like you can cross corner of the eight little inside spin maybe are they playing foul no balls or just cue ball no just cue ball i believe uh he got that double kiss and he shot right into it it's unusual for him worked out great though not much here for shannon it's not a real tenuous situation but nonetheless he doesn't have any offense yeah he's actually in a pretty tough spot to duck here i think i think he might go real first or hit the nine softly but he don't want to make anything well he got it down where if he did make something it would have been a little tough jacked up but uh if it's going to take a look at the three down here oh he's already called it so yeah that pocket last time it rolled a little to the left so uh he might get this because it seems like that pocket's a little low over there we know he's going to hit it well because he's so close to it he's going to be accurate nope he overcut it a little bit nick yeah and he that shot i think the margin of error was that way i think you figured to hit that ball too fat and go long and he actually overdid it a little but there wasn't no hanger anyway he was right on top of that ball right okay shannon's playing this uh on cross side probably gonna make a five here no that's gonna be short isn't it three to one's our score reyes ahead the race leads in the game count as well one to nothing yeah this is a big game here shannon uh it's tough to fall behind 2-0 uh across side he's going to not be successful with that shot but he handled the cue ball well yeah he took care of whitey yeah i think i just uh let's see here what i might do here i think i might just uh i think i might roll the five in because i'm behind and i need five to win and there's only or no what's he need for i think i might just roll that five in because i don't think he'll have a very good shot now he might have a shot on that three though yeah he can't do that that three is too easy yeah that don't work he may just haven't knocked a nine in and draw back a little bit i think uh there's nothing here easy there's nothing here i'm crazy about i know that he's trying to cross us i guess and with you though i kind of like drawing that nine ball coming back to the end rail center the end reel well what he's got to be careful is that three is a hanger but he got he took care of the three ball yes i think he was playing the white ball there because the bank wasn't very close i think he was mostly on the ducksville there that was laying tough for a cross corner now he might be able to no not looking at it is he playing this four rails or four is that what is that no i'm not sure multiple rail shots i saw that i guess he is two really no i hope it was a two reeler i don't know you got me there i didn't see him call it he kind of pointed around i didn't know what it meant but it was two or four i think it was two apparently he's done i doubt that he hit it that poorly if he was going forward oh shannon's finally got a pretty decent cross side here yeah he's worked himself into an offensive shot okay shannon now i think he's got a pretty well i don't know i think he felt funny where he can't make a three yeah needs to be more toward the middle of the table where he can cross it he's uh he's gonna maybe have to play the nine two or else uh cut maybe the seven yeah that's the awkward cross corner because it's weird how you hit it and the speed sensitive long ways to go and if you go along with the seven you leave a shot or could leave a shot i think now he could tie this uh game up no i think it is tied up isn't it three apiece yeah oh is it yeah okay well he's got a chance to get on the hill first here that's all oh except for the part about the cue ball being on the rail i love these cross banks cross corner far cross side i love crossing these with that level stroke i'm not crazy about being frozen on that rail but i think he might have played these two cushions yeah it wasn't land right he does hit these good these multi-rail shots phil windham had a tournament in chattanooga one time where you got a point for every rail you hit yeah and he made some five railers he was trying to play that too okay we're gonna get another look at the two which is such a pretty shot but you can see it's gonna be a problem to get it long enough there so he purposely takes that out of there great speed plus it's dying at the hole so he had a chance to get pretty safe there he's playing the two riot now wow did you see how straight man when he hit it i thought he made that ball do you see how straight he'd come off that second rail man he hit deep close to that uh that's a little surprising he came up short there now shannon's looking at trying to cross corner of the nine as he cuts this ball picks up a little the proper side spin on there but he's gonna have to be ever so close to hitting the five with the nine well you can't afford to hit the five no absolutely not i'd rather look at that wow that's a tough shot yeah he had to hit dangerously close to the five and the last thing he wants to do is knock the five and everyone can't win that one goes in so all of a sudden this match is uh looked like ephraim might get on the hill right off a reel all of a sudden we're in a tie match here 1-1 had some great bank pool shots there we saw the shannon manufacturer bank and he went through a series of safeties got the eight ball cross side then that two that he had on the replay and then that shot off-road that ball crossed corner yeah then the two and then that those three pretty style shots to finish that game well that's what we came here for we want to see world-class pool and we're getting to see it i'd like to congratulate a friend of mine that came up to play in the bank tournament from my hometown owensboro kentucky shannon beat him on the hill yesterday and and he ended up finishing seven through 12. we played a few times during the christmas holidays and he was he was getting ready for this tournament and and that was a nice finish cato what the cato is his name tell us his name yeah okay dalton breaking match is tied didn't play the cut break there though he went all out and got to the brooklyn side of the one ball scratched directly in the side just what you don't want to do well everyone would like to put a hurting on him for that because shannon not only lost one ball but now it's a matter of how much more it's going to cost him yeah he's going to play this green one cross side and uh depending on where he falls this could be pretty you know he's going to i guess i guess he can hold to two yeah it'll go it's far enough hey train that one now the sex goes i guess yeah he can cross that it's a little tougher from here but it's playing pretty good pretty so far the scratch on the brake has cost two mags for effort and lost one for shannon so it's a total of three and everyone's still at the table yeah i don't know what he's gonna play here he may play that seven cross corner it's laying almost dead so it doesn't seem like he likes it probably because he's afraid but it don't look like if he just stops there it looks like it could be even a free bank or maybe he can slide down to the end rail um pretty that looks pretty good get that nice i need to play the one here it's only good bank essay yeah he's not wasting any time so he agrees well not easy though that one nothing's easy though not easy them long railers three quick scoring banks for effin reyes he leads this three to negative one yeah he's got a four ball lead i don't know what shannon gonna do here if he's uh i'm gonna cross it try and think about crossing that floor could play that eight two in the corner i kinda like the eight in the side sometimes also depending upon how it's laying because primarily a safety i mean he's gonna cross us i think yeah he got away from the double kiss so it was laying good what a shock [Applause] almost made that too long didn't he almost got too much yeah he did he got on the i think that's a part he's worried about is it coming back enough but boy he got a plenty now this is a shot he usually hits like a chain yeah he hits us so good this bank he's an inch or two off a rail whoops the nickname is oh my gosh well at least it got bumped up i thought it was going to leave him at dead crosstalk uh ken schuman put that in this he owes a bank we get a shannon says it's okay he doesn't have to put that up there if he doesn't want to well shannon's even everyone's got three everyone needs two to get on the hill and uh kind of an interesting little exchange ken forgot it but efren didn't scratch up and break i kind of like crossing that three and taking that cue ball down here to the middle of the end rail yeah he's called the three he could roll this right in and he's got a big lead he just don't want to let shannon get started here i think he got it maybe i don't know he made my balls sure did perfect speed though and then expanded the margin of error on the pocket quite a little bit efren might just roll the eight ball in yeah i like that nothing wrong with that because one thing about the balls one thing you learned in a hurry about this nine ball bank is just because uh your head four i've lost so many games leading 4-0 it's unbelievable yeah especially when they're all out here in a space like this it's uh it's a lot if you fall good on the ball or two you can yeah okay as we look on here now we're gonna get a second look at this four ball oh know that was pretty it was perilously close to the double kiss he knew he could get away with it from here it looked awkward shannon was totally confident on it i think he he looks like he's gonna chip the eight and go right back where he's at the call there nick got it how's the speed is that pretty good pretty good that's okay that's pretty good speed nick says he settles into the engine yeah i'll take that speed straight back yeah he's playing this playing the five and just like nick was saying you can easily lose from here because when you have a shot maker and a power player like shannon dalton they can run four banks from anywhere once they make one well if he would make this and fall good on one of these balls he could run out but i believe he might have been playing a little more defense but he's left a pretty good shot here that's what i mean well maybe not he's not look maybe the nines got him on that four i can't tell if it's close uh well what ephram's worried about is uh what if he doesn't make the bank what uh he don't want to give anything that shannon to start with anything good so he's going to roll this one toward his hole one rail no he didn't roll it he guess he had to twist it to make it i guess he couldn't just roll it because it comes sharp mm-hmm yeah i kind of thought he was going to roll it primarily with the hopes of putting the cue ball on the end rail down there and the bank part of it being more the secondary objective he thought he needed to pop it a little bit let the cue ball and kind of hang out in the center i don't know if he can cross this one rail yeah he called it didn't he yes he did lefties always look so good at the table don't they yes they do such smooth cueing action i don't know why that is he's got such a nice stroke yeah well this one he's gotta hope don't get past that point or if it does he's gonna hope that it falls where he can't i think he might have fallen where uh right won't go long enough i could play this two rails on yeah and the two rails he's talking about a corner maybe side rail side rail into that corner reference pointed there yeah yeah well this is nice thing about this shot he's playing the white really hard here get him probably back down toward that end rail effort hits this pretty good too well that's kind of a one-pocket bank here you know and uh he's actually playing pretty fortunate there he he really i don't think wanted to hit them balls but they've all fallen where he's uh well he's going now this shannon he's pretty aggressive in this bank looks like straight back five ball yeah shannon's right well he kind of lost his timing there a little bit because he didn't even threaten that one was a long ways away but we're not seeing shannon's best form either i'm not saying he had to make it i'm just saying that he normally gets that little bit closer reyes has a real nice scoring shot here yeah he's he's uh he's got a nice bank here close to the other corner and he's rolling it and uh [Applause] scratch turned out to be costly he fell behind four balls uh made three after the scratch on the break and uh and then shannon lost one scratching on the brakes so that dug a pretty deep hoe yeah you cannot give these guys ball in hand and break them up for him and plus everything shannon got he didn't get anything easy that rack everything he he had he didn't get any easy banks and we have to credit reyes a little bit for that because he kept that cue ball pinned to that back rail quite often yeah yeah he was protecting that lead good square hit there by efren dry break but he didn't scratch he's going to make shannon play from here anyway well shannon's going to have to open up with a shot that he's got to kind of hang himself out to dry so to speak there's i don't think you can duck too easy on this um it looks like no he's going for the two i guess the five don't work so let's see what happens here if he sticks he makes it he could run out no he was ducking a little well hyphens right back in with a great cross side opportunity on the five yes he is yeah it was dead center there hit that nice probably rather not quieter than the three block quite as heavy as he did i may have to cross this three i don't know or play the one one or two i don't know which one did he point at that uh upper right pocket corner i guess he did i didn't yeah i didn't see him flick his cue over there but apparently that's what he's playing well that wasn't his best effort yeah that's not an easy bank no no well it looks like uh shannon's got a shot on this seven for cross corner i know all the years i watch him play this it's such a pretty hit that that ball's gonna hop twice on the bit of the table right before he hits the middle of the pocket i like the way channing gets through that cue ball too something distracted shannon not sure no look like uh some something broke his concentration uh ken schuman came over and mentioned something to a guy sitting in the front row shannon wisely collects himself don't get upset he's a seasoned veteran a little smile i think that's good that shows some professionalism he just yeah shannon was a seasoned veteran at like 15. sure was oh he sure was i remember when his dad used to come with him now here's that shot that hops twice on the back of the table watch this help oh oh oh that's a hideous kiss there he he didn't deserve that he didn't hit the bank the best that he could have but well he kind of fallen where he's hit he's hit a two or three banks i don't think he's hit him quite the speed he wants it looks like he took too much off of that i don't know if he's playing the defense too much or what there but uh well we hard to give this guy ball in hand twice yeah then he gets a pretty nice start here another nice shot i will say this i don't think shannon's been playing as much pool competitively because his game shows a little ring rest we called a one pocket match earlier and then this match well his tour keeps him pretty darn busy yeah and uh yeah if shannon played as much as these filipinos so right he he just uh he just don't he don't play that much uh really this is how good he is though he's in the top three and he's not playing his best at all you know so mean that's pretty darn good that's what i mean he said what a competitor it shows you how much talent he's got and he does that a lot here at derby city every time i look up he's like uh yeah he finished second to air from i think the last time i was up here in the one pocket and he played him in the finals and yeah now i have total respect for shannon's game no question about it why shannon needs to get something to go oh because he's not that far behind here if he can just make a bank that's the that's the one that pops twice on the table before it enters the pocket that's more i think he can maybe cross this too but he might have to use low to twist it where i like to roll this two in uh cross it and row the only defense you can play you just try to leave them on the 50-yard line you can't take away all the banks like you can earn all the shots like you can in one pocket so you try to get them where they got to cut that ball a lot yeah they'll straight back here i'll tell you one thing it's uh everyone did a little dance step dude that was a bunny there he messed up he missed a bunny there and uh tell you what this is a big shot in the match here too i kind of thought shannon might be gone when he left him so good on the floor but like his foot slipped or something there just a little bit even if he if he runs these two balls in a little bit of a comfort zone unless uh shannon can get these other two balls off there and even then he's gonna get the first shot nice hit there makes me wanna clap from up here how pretty that is funny angle here but well i'd played in the same pocket there that uh i'd play it in that lower left corner and uh bring the cue ball over toward the seven and would you be aggressive would you would you play the bank and go aggressive to play the seven with the cue ball too so you could possibly win with this inning or would that be too too aggressive yeah well well i mean no he might be going for it and trying to make this ball in the corner as he crosses this ball depends on how much you like this bank i guess i'm just saying you can win otherwise if you make this bank then you gotta still give up first opportunity so yeah he made a heck of a pass at it i will say that he tried to put himself in position to win yeah he hit it good enough to make the seven and now uh yeah i think everyone's got to go cross side yeah yeah you got just give yourself a chance to win i'm on these you're better off just playing to make it and forget about the safety yep because if you mess with the safety on this shot it really cuts down your chances well he rolled it see i like popping that ball and i'm not sure that's a i'm not sure that's a right decision on that shot there i like hitting it with more speed where you have a better chance i that one i don't even worry about defense on that i go strictly for making that ball and that's might be where efren's bank pool experience is a little shorter than yours yeah i'm not being critical of him in any way i'm just saying he doesn't play a lot of bank pool he plays it here you play a lot of bank pool shannon plays a lot of bank bowl john brumback plays a lot of bank ball and they know those shots what's the best little extra edge well you're always aware where that cue ball is going but sometime in this bank you just got to make the ball to get away you know what i mean and uh say he really didn't hit that too good uh he's given air from a lot of shots here i'm not saying this is easy one thing about uh bank pool it's not like horseshoes closes no good it's not like one pocket either close close it's not very good in one in bank pool right you don't score on close here i guess he's lined up for cross corner here he could probably roll this for the safety if he wanted but he went i can't argue with that that uh shannon's got a life tongue still out there i kind of thought he'd roll the cross side but he warped the is that when that object ball's so far from the long rail that's awkward to jump i thought he might roll that one i didn't think he would fire it but can lag it for the hall but i like most the time when they're shooting those shots firing my bankers boy they seem to hit those well it's not so much like playing nine ball where a lot of times the good players get in trouble when they got a soft row one rather than hitting it in the pocket firm so i guess it's banks is not all that much different than the other games shannon's taking a little look at the possible two two rails cross corner on the three but i think he's gonna settle on the eight is he crossing this no sure yeah okay yeah wow that's pretty tough here i think he's gonna hit it really gotta hit this good oh he did both points okay yeah another look at this break nick we know he hit him square look at the cue ball oh my gosh stuck wow it was very peculiar we've watched a yeah he's left him pretty good on this nine effort has to range in on this one though he's lost so much more question is do you play shape on the three and four two or you draw back and kind of play safe you got a big decision to make here to me i think it's kind of like what you said earlier i think make the bank and forget the safe win or lose you're supposed to you're not going to beat anybody if you don't make this and it's not an easy shot he was going for the juggler there right and uh i can't argue with that at all he's got a bank that he probably figures to make at least seven times out of ten or more so you got to go when the percentages are in your favor because look he might have got three or four here right with this position and he and now you know they these banks are pretty good but it's so easy to catch the point on these uh these cross sides well shannon didn't look like uh he shot that with total 100 percent confidence he never hesitated with a stroke air no i think he's maybe falling a little funny on this forward i don't think he can cross it or i don't think he can hold to do the ones it's just cutting that weird angle and then you're on the rail which really diminishes what you can do he's looking at the nine back between the four and seven could play the four cross corner he's got some options here what i like about that four playing that four is you don't want he won't be getting that cross side you know what i mean but i like this if it goes but caught that four there but he played it gingerly he definitely was aware of what he was trying to leave there from there and he hasn't all of a sudden momentum has changed a little bit where everyone was getting some uh pretty tough shots huh yeah real tough to do anything here i don't even know is he just playing safe i guess so oh no he oh that was nice i didn't think there's any way to get past the one and get two cushions in the side but that was a big shot there that was uh his safety's real now huh yeah three to one shannon dalton leads the ball count yeah a little the short side of the of the uh distribution of the balls right now he's going to really make a tough shot here yeah he's playing it right in the pocket by him he's cutting that nine back in the same pocket and this is one where you if you don't make it you may leave him a good shot on the nine no he yeah he didn't leave anything soft here yeah he played it purposely to go a little wide hoping that if he missed it it'd go in the pocket but at the very least he would leave this type of arrangement of the balls look like it's tough to play safe on this one right is he trying to draw out of there i think he's just playing the spot shot one ball straight back past the nine yeah that was a great shot there he just floated to the end rail there's a pretty good bank here this cross i like these what a shot what a shot the spot shot bank now this one that's three three and uh you may have to pinch a six here i don't know i don't think he can he yeah it's hard to tell it looks like both angles are kind of funny that that's the robin's egg blue seven he's playing here no yeah he's going to leave pretty good
