off the bat first skip of the marathon is successful it's all smooth sailing from here thank goodness all there was Pongo cutscene skip there's a cutscene trigger on the starting area but with a well-placed backflip and beat bus who's able to get up and over the trigger and bypass it completely and now coming up we're gonna go into the first of two klungo fights in this category how these work is that at the beginning of each fight klungo is going to pull one of three different potions there's green for invisibility blue for splitting into multiple copies of themself and red for going giant and we'll explain those in more detail but just know we want to see green okay that's the worst one yeah so we're gonna take this time to introduce ourselves so I'm captain Cole I'm Univ in times TP humor man I'm a garage door opener so a little more detail about this right side the color that he picks is determined when you enter the digger tunnel for the first time and each color can only be pulled once so now that you got red you can't get it again the next two are only gonna be blue or green yeah red potion is really nice like to kind of get runs going because when klungo jumps up he lands like directly on an egg that you can poop out so it's pretty guarantees in order to get it fast the only downside is the cutscene of him growing is really long so it adds some unnecessary time to the timer but that's just that's just luck so for those of you guys who've been following banjo tooie the last time that it was shown was at sgdq 2015 it was actually ran by captain Cole who's next to me so this has been three years since we've seen 90 percent out of GDQ we're not gonna spoil it right now but you're gonna see a run that's very very different from the run you saw three years ago so we got a pretty difficult trick right here yeah I have to do a I have to do a couple beat bus to start the run and they're all pretty picky so so I'm happy with the third try and here we're in King jinglun's throne room to grab our first jiggy of the run we probably got some time for a couple donations yeah j-mac 2:13 welcome back sgdq and what a way to start off the week is so excited to be able to donate during banjo tooie good luck to all the runners and let's break two mill again everybody that's right we can do it I've got $250 from net free keep up the great work what you guys are doing for these charities is amazing all right so from here we have to pass through bottles his house to get the goggles and bottles had a unfortunate accident in the opening cutscene of the game so we're just not gonna mention that to his wife so unique to this category we're gonna get this mood right here we're gonna need it for later the goggles just essentially allow you to zoom in and zoom out when you're in first person there's jiggy we he's temple what a site so GD is gonna walk over here to activate this silo so we can use it to work back to this area later and then he's going to go ahead and walk over here and do another of those Beek busts in order to get up to plateau usually you need grip grab in order to do this or with a perfectly timed beat bus there we go [Applause] [Music] so a couple of weeks ago I actually found that you can actually enter ggm early right now so with a big bus you can just clip through a small gap in the between the door and the frame and you can just enter right away so it saves like over a minute in this category to answer now get some jiggies so we're gonna see a complete reroute of everything it's actually a really picky big bus to get so getting it first try there is a pretty exciting [Music] so yeah I'm the old anypercent we're out we used to go to Mt first you had to open up the first puzzle because we didn't think that you could enter any levels early so our jiggy routes were completely changed for those of you who don't know we only need 14 jiggies to beat this game out of the 90 that you could collect so yeah we're gonna see a complete reroute using different jiggy's because they're faster now that we can enter twitter goldmine early here there's only a bunch of swimming so it'd be a good time to read some donations our position I definitely have one we have $20 from rose from your local speedrunning scene who says I am so proud of you dude being the first run at a gdq is so rad put on a good show and good luck on your run donation goes towards it runners incentive choice and we've got $25 from ladyhood best of luck ji do your horse Prince believes in you and so do we thank you lady hood cheers or Nova Scotia you got this buddy [Music] so a unique thing in banjo-tooie that Judeo just pulled off is that in banjo-tooie we don't have any lives so dying or losing all your health just respawns you at the beginning of the level so we use that all over the place in order to just save time walking everywhere so this in this route we actually have to go to Humble one but in order to transform and glitter gold mine we needed to set up a trick for later and we're also going to be getting some other things with a [Music] so GTOs gonna be taking the detonator of it's a fuel depot it's only really useful for this one part but it's very important because it sets up a trick that ultimately saves two and a half hours in this category so we're gonna talk a little bit more about that later when we get to it but ultimately this is what we need the detonator the goggles and some other stuff for later in the run be freeze-thaw sir luckily blowing up these TNT boxes here with the detonator takes away a lot of your help so it's just an easy way to death work alright so coming up is probably one of the cooler runs of any percent and we actually use it now 100% because it's faster with the new glitter goal to mine early but we're gonna see a trick called detonator levitation normally you would need the springy step shoes or the clockwork Disney eggs in order to shoot at this jiggy but if we manipulate a little bit of our movement here we can just float right up and grab the jiggy so that trick was discovered by chronic ease a famous switch owner for rare games but how it works is when the detonator falls in the water it has an animation of floating back up to the surface and during that animation you can actually damage yourself by pressing B and they're all their walls throughout clinical mind that are sort of slanted in such a way that when you jump up against them they push you down you can still jump but Vangelis kind of stays in place and carny has found that if you press a then B really quickly one after the other against these walls the diner will start to surface but it'll just ignore the surface of the water he'll just keep rising up throughout the length of the animation and it just so happens that you have enough height to reach that jiggy all right so we're talking to Jim just for the first time [Music] and he didn't bonk which is really good so there's a 10% chance that every time we talked to jam jars that he his lid closes before he dives back in it saves on air I mean it loses on average around four seconds and there's one of them that we're gonna come up to later that loses seven seconds if he bots so we're really hoping that he never bots this run is that what loose time so we're coming in here to the gloomy caverns for two more fast Gigi's they usually didn't use the sea yeah we also manipulate both of them to get them quicker than you're supposed to we're gonna be entering generator cavern here and normally you're supposed to have your fire eggs and you're supposed to shoot at these lights in order to kind of light up the lock ways and walk along them kind of like Donkey Kong Country but we can actually just jump up to this ladder [Music] and likewise we're gonna go over here to power hut normally you're supposed to split up Banjo and Kazooie banjo goes upstairs in the power hut attic in order to turn on the lights because new he goes down bottom to do the basement but we've just up to the brightness on our TV so we're just gonna be able to walk in the dark yeah p-hat isn't very lit all right there we go sweet and now we're done with good to go tomorrow yeah that's trap of rats I think on to the Lance is actually a bit trickier than it looks so we're gonna be learning fire eggs here cuz fire eggs are needed in order to get to pine grove which we're gonna be entering in a second here but what's funny is that we do not have a game or move from the first world that lets you shoot in first person so we're gonna actually have to climb this slope here and go in a certain position to shoot the switch luckily it's like just the perfect height [Applause] and then we got to play another jamjars roulette in Pine Grove when we learned Grenada eggs this route is really picky on notes we have exactly enough for all these moves don't you do it Jim Joyce [Applause] [Music] you know there's a great video on YouTube jamjars bonking on for ten hours it's a good watch so now we're heading back to G Gear Iggy to open the levels now that we've already been to G GM so what we're gonna do here is we have these minigames that are basically puzzles that we have to grab pieces that are randomly scattered and place them in and once we solve it the level will open and so this will be a great time for donations excellent I have a bunch of donations the first one here is $15 from miner Harry and he says height for GDQ long time watcher the rods but first time able to make it live the banjo series is basically my favorite of all time best music in the world well hey is spelled with an A thank you very much but two is better so happy to make a donation during this game and we'll be donating again later from Mario maker let's save lives putting this towards runner's choice we have a $20 donation from the master PS whoo banjo tooie one of the best games great to start the show with it nice cutscene skip coming up boilers everybody put it towards Pikmin 3 bonus Silver Lake mission mode level [Music] we have $25 from peaceful viewer banjo-tooie was one of my favorite games of my childhood great to see it completely broken and run for charity keep up the great work we have another banjo tooie fan here amorous with $10 banjo tooie was one of my first childhood games and I'm so happy to see it as the first game good luck and remember to get jiggy with it all right now even though we have enough jiggies to open up the second level we're gonna save it for when we come back to open up the third and the fourth levels saves a little bit of time just not having to re-enter jiggy Wiggy do you want to kind of explain Jaison ain't growth oh yeah so coming up we have what's known as Jade snake early oh this is a trick found by chronic ease once again back in early 2013 I think and I'll just let you do do it first so you can focus and all explain after yeah Jersey saw there's a gap between the top of the door and kind of the top of that archway and with a really precise set up using flaps to time a time a peak bomb you can actually be pumped through that gap and it's actually kind of funny because that trick was discovered as I said like in 2013 and it was just thought to be useless for a long time because in order to do it you need it bill drill which is in little to mine but you couldn't go to clear culture mine without going to empty first so it wasn't really useful but xgg I'm early now all these old tricks are getting used yeah thanks a lot Cole and so we have a white jinjo right here and in case you were wondering we started our run on a file that already had a few seconds on there and we did this in order to manipulate our jinjo pattern in the game because when you load up a new game there's a jinjo and spiral mountain and so a pattern is created for the file and so we want this pattern in a certain way so we can get to quick jinjo jiggies and Mayim temple that white one being one of them and we'll get the orange ones later we also want the white one to be first one we pick up because there's a cutscene for the 1st jinjo you pick up and the first family that you complete and you can skip one of those if you pick up white first yeah it saves 30 seconds this part to me is probably the coolest part of the runs the beak bonds are always always really fun young banjo tooie they changed the beat bombs so that you if you hold me you can be calm as long as you want you can like change your angle and everything whereas in kazooie you kind of have to just go a certain amount of distance and so for the first time we're actually heading downwards down the mountain as collecting these notes instead of upwards alright here we go again [Music] [Music] all right this is a pretty precise food bomb right here too nice the lag wise cooperate some days yeah some days all right after getting bull vias jiggy we just kind of get the rest of the orange Jindo family and then it's time for prison compound so prison compound is a fun area we got some fun tricks in here in RNG so right here we got prison compound code there's three different codes that it can be we're gonna hope that it's first try nope so now we're gonna go for the second code got the star star pattern all right we got it [Applause] see I was really funny when when Cole and Brad were rerouting you know any % cuz we have to look at all that you know what are the fastest 14 jiggy's to collect now that we can enter ggm early so it was just constant constant timing seeing where we could go which to use we could collect which ones were faster than others it's just really cool to see like the complete reroute and like Cole said ggm early was only found like maybe a month ago yep so like it was already accepted into the marathon it was already slated to open the marathon and then we made it render out and made it better so it's really cool to showcase we're here at GDL we really are at gdq we're really glad that uh that it's opening PG was the first person to congratulate call for putting prison compound in the code in the ride alright so even though we have build drill and we have a way to do this jiggy correctly GTO is just going to manipulate tewi movement in order to get on top of these pillars so this is pretty precise jumps and beat busts [Music] yeah about that last one definitely had me worried yeah those might look easy the like holes that they are really really precise you have to have a correct amount of height and you have to be able to be close like right at the end of your jump shoutouts to de moly walking across the swamp alright so that was our last jiggy of the run we're not gonna be collecting any more jiggy's 14 is just enough to open jrl and that's Jolly Rogers the last level we need to go to before before finishing the game and so now what's left is to go open three levels so we got a ton of puzzles and a ton of cutscenes so we can read a ton of donations yeah excellent we have a ton of donation first is $25 from Brynn deserve greetings from the front row he says he'll donate $25 for every jamjars box oh that one got $15 route the old right Fred alright so GTO is airing witchy world which is the third level of the game literally all we're doing in here is we're gonna collect notes for some more moves later on we're gonna collect split up which allows banjo because do we do split up which we only use once in this route but it's mandatory to get it so you got time for more donations here if you want we have fifty so that is in the game yeah that's the longest bunk in the game it wastes about seven seconds so almost twice as long as any other bunk that camera angle is really laggy so it just has extended time that he goes in I appreciate the setup alright so GTO is gonna be using those goggles now from earlier in order to zoom in across space zone in order to shoot this button and once we shoot it we zoom out to reduce lag we zoom back in to make sure it actually triggers on the button so us shooting this button us getting the goggles and us freeing the saucer all sets up the move or the trick later on in the game that allows us to skip into the final boss hogg one will talk a little bit more about how it works when the trick is executed and so for right now we're just gonna collect some notes on our way to enter gaol so we can have read some more donations excellent we have fifty dollars from Tim eighty six never plays banjo tooie as a kid but the n64 was truly the Golden Age of breakable together forever [Music] all right now normally on clifftop we would go over here to jam jars and collect i CEG's but we don't actually need I Sykes to beat the final boss so we just skip them don't want to go to tui prison that's right so we're going extra wide around right here because we still haven't activated the text that you get from walking up to your first signpost so we want to make sure to avoid the the meme sign all right now jrl is really interesting because normally you're supposed to go get mumbo and oxygenate the water so you're able to swim underneath but we're going to be very very safe with our movement and we're going to just swim all the way down there with as little air as we have and we're actually not gonna run out of air we're gonna start taking damage right as we're surfacing it's that tight of a swim we got a dodging octopus and then some eels afterwards [Music] the timing is just too convenient [Music] so normally you're supposed to freeze this octopus with ice eggs but we don't really care about him okay so it was really funny to me doing the swim through the last tentacle because it doesn't really have a hitbox on it so you can just kind of swim directly through it all right now GD is not out of he's not out of the running yet he's got to enter this little door down here and there are two electric eels that can shock him and keep him from surfacing and they hit him more than once it's completely random he's gonna have to do this swim all over again they can swim faster than you too so [Applause] all right and luckily we don't have to swim all the way back up we're just gonna you know cook banjo here and go back to the start of the level this runs as hot as banjo so we're gonna go wide here again make sure we don't hit the signpost and we're gonna be working back to Pine Grove because pine grove is how we get through wasteland with the new move that we just got talent' torpedo but before we get to wasteland univ in what are we gonna begin then after he breaks the boulder we're gonna be going to the second klungo fight now I mentioned earlier that each potion can only be pulled once so now that he got red he's only gonna get blue or green ideally we want to see green cuz not getting green at all loses around eight or nine seconds the reason for that is because not the potions aren't all the same speed the animations they have to sit through before you can attack klungo are different and red is the longest because he has to grow giant and blue is the middle of the two years not the way for him to split up into multiple copies of himself and then greens the fastest cuz he just disappears you can attack him instantly the really cool thing about the the feather route in this run is with that first red feather nest that I get at the beginning of the game if you don't mess up any of the beef bombs and mayhem tempura you have you have like one or two feathers left over when you do the Talon torpedo to get it that's good alright so believe it or not we're like probably eight or nine minutes away from foods beating the game [Music] it'd be tricky to hit Pongo when he's in the center like that and you're trying to get to the door well he even got the music please spawn so we're gonna enter wasteland we have to get one final move which means one final chance for jam jar to bonk on us but we need clockwork kazooie eggs in order to be hacked one and then once we collect clockwork kazooie eggs I'm gonna hand it over to Cole who's gonna explain the final trick which is DCW please no bunker you know one more key box all right so we're saving and quitting here to set up DCW delayed cutscene warp so what this trick allows us to do is warp to any cutscene we've just watched in the game so to do this we had to unlock the saucer in fuel depot and then hit the button in which he whirled and reset after the first cutscene plays by resetting there the game doesn't know where to put us after that we enter fuel depot again because it's wanting to place us where we last watched the cutscene because it could be hit in multiple places and so because of that if we go to the main menu here and watch the hag one on the replay menu it will when we enter feel Depot in our game file it's gonna warp us to hag 1 on our game file because that was our last class scene that we watched letting us skip over 2 hours of gameplay yeah so normally you know we have a category called any percent no DCW when it was found and in order to do that you have to get 70 jiggies and you're not allowed to use this trick and so obviously you know us finding the trick lot is to cut the jiggy route down from 70 to 13 which is very significant in this game because some of the jiggies are just very very convoluted it takes a long time to get them I missed our tragedy we probably have time for a couple more donations excellent we have twenty-five dollars from vicarious vice who says bear with me because this run looks puzzling but I wanted to know - how exciting it was to watch one of my favorite games be speedrun haha puns nice pun [Applause] all right so again we didn't watch that cutscene just for nothing to reenter the file that stored our location so that when GTA goes over here he's gonna go back into glitter go to mine he's gonna go into fuel depot it's gonna automatically warp us up to the top of the tower now the important thing here is the GTO doesn't die yes so because CCW is a one time trick if he dies in the fight yes go collect 70 jiggy's luckily we have a safety safe so we're not too worried about that yeah if I die hope is not lost [Music] all right so it's gonna start the cutscene here and it's gonna search for our last store location and voila here we are at hag one you probably got time for a donation before the fight actually starts all right we've got one hundred and fifty dollars from Alan two four seven gdq's are my favourite time of year and there's no more deserving charity and Doctors Without Borders Thank You Alan so then if you want to kind of talk about first-person stuff and the phases of hack one you want to talk about the first-person stuff and the phases of hack one kind of like how the boss fight goes oh yeah sure so at the start here he's just gonna be running around the drill collecting some eggs and in a bit here she's gonna pop out and she's gonna ask him a question he's just gonna mash a pea skip right through it doesn't really care about getting it right or wrong [Music] so - he's actually goldeneye and so we have these first-person sections in the fight where you had to hit grunty so we can actually maneuver around and shooter using fire eggs and grenade eggs by rapidly firing the grenade eggs by switching off of fire eggs instantly [Music] yeah like univ and says she asks quiz questions which normally if you got them right she would shoot slower at you to kind of like give you an advantage but we're speed learners come on since she only shoots once with this strat anyway it doesn't really matter if she shoots fast or slow so normally in this phase grunty would be like firing the mortar cannons and you'd have to dodge them but we just jump on top of the drill because there's no hitbox and we look straight off the reduced leg because if in case you guys didn't realize - he's pretty laggy double bombs away this boss fight is pretty tough [Music] [Music] so now she's gonna take in her mortar cannons and start chasing us around but luckily luckily the drill moves really slowly so all we have to do is just wait for wait for the end of it and collect some eggs so I don't run out [Music] so after GTO shoots his eggs in this face she's going to shut off the exhaust and at that point we're gonna shoot a clockwork kazooie egg into the back of the machine in order to blow up the batteries from the inside so it's the only time that we use the clock works than any percent there are mandatory to beat the boss so that's the whole reason we go out of her way to go get them because we need them for the fight otherwise the fight would be let the entire run would be like 15 minutes slower it's faster I didn't like that guy anyway [Music] and after we blow up the second battery the machine is just going to be like a big hunk of junk and it'll be relatively easy to be there from there okay [Laughter] [Applause] [Music] that first Duggar can sometimes walk back and forth and if your clockwork touches him then you have to shoot another one inside the drill and you never really know which way he's gonna go all right so in this face she shoots out like a little minion to chase you around [Music] doofus and so we're gonna use blue eggs here for this final phase because just a little faster so this second-to-last face here is actually timed because she spits out this mustard gas and you can suffocate if you take too long to do it but time is coming up by the way yeah [Music] [Applause] take that Winky bunion party time and so we're partying and everything even though we actually didn't even save bottles he's done Val alive so as banjo tooie banjo tooie any percent like the shoutout the banjo tooie community for all getting together and routing this when the new stuff was found we got a bunch as I'm sitting on the couch behind us well at the time times 44:47 you
