hello my bamboo friends I'm here with the new release of bamboo Studio 1.7 and there are some really fun updates many of these updates come from the community and the Orca slicer I am particularly interested in a couple of the features shown here specifically this one device model file browsing and printing you will now be able to print from the micro SD card through bamboo Studio rather than having to use the x1c screen or for your p1p or p1s the bamboo handy app here is a peek at the bamboo lab YouTube video demonstrating this feature previously on the X1 you could select a model G-Code to reprint from the interface or in bamboo handy you could use the app to do it on your p1s now you can go ahead and click on the MicroSD card choose the model and print it directly from bamboo Studio they have added Dynamic calibration and flow rate calibration to all bamboo printers this will help those of you with over or under Extrusion however bamboo does state that usually this calibration is unnecessary moving along for those of you with an x1c they have added support for part skipping on the printer side you can now choose parts from the print bed to skip from printing however they do point out that it only supports single material components in other words the AMS and multi-material prints are not supported moving along they've added mesh Boolean which is something I use a lot in mesh mixer however it is a very complicated thing and they do go out of their way to mention that Boolean itself is complicated even for professional CAD software and it may fail sometimes for those of you who aren't familiar with mesh bouillon it basically means taking an object and combining it to another object or taking an object intersecting it with another object and then removing the space occupied by that object this is something you would do in order to make a model assemblable for example adding pegs or two pieces that you just glued together separately here you will see they're about to do it made the space occupied by that model this here's a great one support for more third-party printer profiles basically that means bamboo Lab Studio now supports more printers including those from anchor any cubic reality algu prusa Etc which is nice if you've become accustomed system to working in bamboo Lab Studio you can now work with bamboo Lab Studio for more of your currently owned other company printers they talk about improving live view for the p1p which enables you to Now preview your camera from outside of your local network this is already functioning but apparently it's going to function better now I talked about this in an earlier video they did add support for the new bamboo lab p1s which is really nice I would say it's obvious that they'd have this ready to roll for the launch of the p1s but in today's market you can never take anything for granted and they added a new coloring mode so you can take a model and color individual parts I am not familiar with the benefits or the usage of this mode just yet but it looks very interesting and I suppose it's a way that you can differentiate different parts of a model without having to change its specific filament assignment and scrolling down we see another interesting feature talking about supporting the display of the filament Auto refill information it looks like this is an easier way to understand how your AMS system is backing up your filament for run out situations where it's going to replace your filament with another filament of the same kind to continue printing and here it's one more really interesting update which is support for bamboo transparent filament transparent materials can now be viewed in the 3D View and at the beginning of slicing in your preview they look like ghosts number nine is an important one I use the coloring tool a lot and it can be difficult to navigate the model when working with the coloring tool to paint on or off supports they have improved the way rotating Works to make it more accurate to the movement of your mouse pointer this is great news for those of you who spend a lot of time painting and rotating your model around and get confused by which movement moves the model which way now it's very straightforward up is up left is left right is right here we have a few more I'll quickly Buzz over talking about optimizing travel paths for printing artifacts with multiple colors apparently this will help make the print times shorter sounds like something that's kind of Technical and we'll just have to take their word for it scrolling down they've added a couple little odds and ends such as one wall function for the first layer and optimizing performance of the top one wall function to reduce slicing time including a new ironing pattern I know some people really like ironing it's not something I use a lot of but they added the concentric ironing pattern z-hop another function I never use but lots of people do has been updated to change the default setting from spiral to auto lift and here is a big one matter of fact the single most important change I wanted from bamboo studio and that is finally showing the overhang area in the 3D prepare tab that means when you are working with your model in the prepare Tab and you're trying to figure out how much support you need you can finally see a visual indication of which parts of the model fall into that threshold angle range in the past it was not shown and you pretty much had to guess or enter specific screens such as support painting where the overhangs would suddenly appear now when working with your model and deciding how much support to use you can Tinker with the threshold angle and see it adjusted in real time to show you which sections of your model fall into that threshold hold this update right here to me is the single most important update of this entire bamboo Lab Studio here's a fun one number 18 you can now name the plate let's say you're working on a multi-part Model it's Iron Man he's got the jaw the teeth the eyes you can now name that plate based on what's on it jaw Parts eye Parts teeth parts and such that's really cool and super helpful for organizing large projects there are a few other smaller updates but I want to talk about an important one and that's this one allow to set tree support brim width this means you can now adjust the brim width specifically for your tree supports rather than having to set it for the entire model just to have a bigger brim on your tree supports I print many models that have very little supports and have very small tree supports in those very small tree supports sometimes will fail and pop off the bed before they attach to the rest of the model now we can set the brim width larger to help that tree support stay put this is going to be a real game changer to those of you using models with lots of smaller tree supports that have smaller footprints on the bed a few smaller updates round out this new version of bamboo Lab Studio and it looks like a really powerful and really welcome update to Bamboo Lab Studio that's all I've got for you today go ahead and install it get to Printing and let me know your experience in the comments I'm Greg Adventure you're on the 3D rundown YouTube channel and updating from bamboo lab 1.6 to 1.7 was today's adventure thank you [Music]
