all right hello everyone today we're going to be looking at the character creation on a more in-depth level who am i that is the question but the real question is who are all of you who do you want to be now starting off our second day first week of early access we will not have access to the origin characters yet that's something they're planning for a little bit later so for the time being we're going to be messing around with custom characters now first screen of course origin we're going to be stuck on custom for a bit we've got our two genders over here we have a panel with all of our stats which i think is really nice because as you as you go through each one of these and start making your changes on what you want to do it'll give you the summary of everything that you're going to be when you start the game but first let's take a look at uh backgrounds first we have alkalites you have spent your life in service to a temple learning sacred rites and providing sacrifices to the god or gods you worship background features being inside proficiency and religion proficiency so right off the bat we're going to see that a lot of these are of course lining up with how dnd 5e is which is a given that was the whole uh goal with a lot of the mechanics and the planning for the game next for everything that's going to be available for the backgrounds we're going to have charlatan it'll give us a proficiency proficiency in deception and sleight of hand criminal deception proficiency and a stealth proficiency and i'm sure as you can see so far everything is gonna you know fit the namesake pretty well entertainer acrobatics and performance you live away you live to sway and subvert your audience engaging common crowds and high society alike full hero now this one i ended up choosing from my ranger on the other uh on the other video your champion of the common people challenging tyrants and monsters to protect the helpless and of course background features are going to be animal handling and survival i kind of wish there was another background that utilized these two because i don't think they appear in any of the other backgrounds guild artisan your skill in a particular craft has earned you membership in a reconcile guild offering privileges and protection while engaging in your art and of course we'll get insight and persuasion for that one so if a lot of you guys really like to push for um talking more than the gameplay because i know a number of y'all live for that you'll be the ones to choose bards and max out your charisma and all that jazz this would be the option for you noble you were raised in a family among the social elite accustomed to power and privilege with a history proficiency and a persuasion proficiency and then hermit you were once sworn to seclusion and continue to prefer solitude over the chaos of society medicine proficiency and religion proficiency so that'll be good for our clerics outlander you grew up in the wild learning to survive far from the conference of civilization here we have athletics and oh yeah survival there we go we have another one that has it sage you are curious and well read with an unending thirst for knowledge background features for this one are arcana in history [Music] sailor you are familiar with the workings of the ships and life at sea having spent years weathering the storms and battling creatures of the deep backgrounds will be athletics and perception soldier you are trained in battlefield tactics and combat having served in a militia mercenary company or officer corps athletics and intimidation [Music] urchin after surviving a childhood on the streets you know how to make the most out of out of very little sleight of hand and stealth [Music] alkalite yep oh we're back to the beginning now okay spit your life send the service of a temple so that so far is going to be our choices for the background all in all larian has pretty much taken up the mantra across the board that everything is going to be changing as time goes on during early access so personally i would expect to see more backgrounds appearing down the line maybe something a little more interesting or uncommon hopefully because i always find those to be really interesting [Music] so first we're going to take a look at females next onto race we have our standard elf heirs of the mystical feywild okay so these are the descriptions i gave in our update um a couple days ago actually when they gave us the text update about romance and character creation hi elf heiress the mystical feywild high elves value magic in all its forms and even those who do not study spellcraft can manipulate the weave so innate spellcrafting we can choose cantrips minor illusion create an illusionary image that distracts nearby creatures compelling them to investigate but what are the options okay so it looks like these are going to be our high elf cantrips available to us you know one kin trip of your choice from the wizard spell list intelligence is your spell casting ability for it okay so they are specifying the wizard spell list we can use that as a little reminder that down the line there are going to be you know different wizard classes it's not going to be you know just one clip that's all we're going to have a variety of things like how we used to in the past but what else do we have as an option acid splash hurl a bubble of acid that deals acid to each creature it hits blade ward gain resistance to bludgeoning piercing slashing damage from weapon attacks chill touch a sailor creature with the chill of the grave it takes necrotic damage and cannot regain hit points undead creatures also get disadvantage on attack rolls dancing lights create whispers of lights that illuminates a 12 meter radius a firebolt hurl a modifier that deals fire and creates a flammable surface [Music] friends enchant a non-hostile creature to gain advantage on charisma checks against it i wonder how npcs are going to feel about you casting a spell on them just in general like how dare you do that to me it doesn't have to be you know something that'll physically hurt them just it's kind of like you know a breach of a breach of consent i guess the trick might be to do it without them seeing you light infuse an object with an aura of light mage hand oh this is what we got to see on the demo all those months back create a spectral hand that can manipulate and interact with objects we have our illusion we saw a minute ago poison spray project a puff obnoxious gas that deals poison damage ray of frost call forth a frigid beam of blue white light deals cold damage and reduces the target's speed shock and grasp lightning springs from your hand it deals 1d8 lightning damage and prevents the target from taking reactions true strike divine a character's defenses to give you advantage on tack rolls against it alright these are all pretty decent so far for starting cantrips race features so for the elf we're gonna have keen senses proficiency in the perception skill fae ancestry the feywild cast a veil over your mind you have advantage on saving throws against being charmed and magic can't put you to sleep dexterity plus two and then long sword short sword long bow short bow proficiencies and good old dark vision this creature can see in the dark within 12 meters and we have sub-races so first off with sub-race we have high health those straights we'll get what high elves will be higher speed and intelligence only plus one though and the speed will allow us an extra nine meters of movement next we're going to have what else [Music] personally bothers me that they're a little greenish by default but i mean hey it fits they like wood they like living in forests all right what else spend their reclusive lives in faerun's forest decades of training and archery and camouflage are enhanced by another worldly swiftness race features we have of you know all the same because the race is elf with the sub race straights being fleet of foots base walking speed is a little higher than normal or other for other races mask of the wild you were raised to blend into your natural surroundings you gain proficiency in stealth and then plus one to wisdom so for now those are the two sub-races under the elf category next we're going to look at tiflings asmodius tiefling bound to nessus the deepest layer of the hells these thieflings inherit the ability to wield fire and darkness from the archdevil as modius's infernal bloodline asmodius is basically the ruler of hell and is kind of stuck on the ninth layer at the very bottom now teeplings in general the race features are going to be hellish resistance your blood protects you from flame abyssal or otherwise you have resistance to fire and take only half damage from it and then they also have dark vision and they have it to an extent of 12 meters now onto the subrace portion as modius tiefling specifically will have base ratio speeds of 9 meters an extra intelligence plus 1 and then plus due to charisma and it looks like teeplings will have a default kin trip thamatorgy transmutation can trip manifest a sign of supernatural power that grants you advantage on intimidation and performance checks okay given the way we look it makes sense to have this channel your infernal bloodline a little bit and just go a little spooky on people next we have mephistopheles tieflings i really like um the way they have this blue with the face like just the whole so in general you're gonna imagine they're gonna have a likeness to the bloodline that they represent and i don't know just mephistopheles i kind of think i like him like this one the most of the of the three subraces for teeplings okay descended from the archdevil mephistopheles these tieflings are gifted with a particular affinity for arcane magic of course as we all know blue equals mage so arcane magic race features are of course the same and now subray straits for the mephistopheles thieflings will be base ratio speed still nine meters intelligence plus one and then charisma plus two now these are not different interesting i wonder if they have plans to adjust these down the line zarial tiefling tieflings from zario's bloodline are empowered with martial strength and can channel searing flame to punish their enemies same race features with aha the sub-race traits have changed to strength instead of intelligence but our khan troop is still the same now zario i'm sure a lot of you will realize or recognize you know zariel from the descent to avernus campaign we already know that canonically and just a very brief side topic where you know canonically that el toro was saved but the question that a lot of people across the internet were worrying about was what happened to zario and of course the other npcs that were involved i'm going to leave you all with this um in terms of zarya for the moment i'm a little hint when you go through the tutorial if you're lucky you might catch an offhand conversation about zariel i'm just gonna leave it at that though all right next we're gonna be looking at drow loth sworn drow raised by a loth's cult in the city of menzobaranzan these droughts do extol the virtues of their corrupt and merciless goddess thoth marks her followers with bright red eyes so the underdark will learn to fear drow on sight and as i mentioned in one of my previous videos the history of drow and then of course elves and how they began it's just really interesting on its own i highly suggest y'all take a look at it if you are curious all right racial features racial speed will be nine meters fake ancestry of course no charms etc we saw that on the elf plus two to dexterity plus one to charisma and then our proficiencies are rapier short sword hand crossbow and then superior dark vision which of course makes sense i mean they live in the underdark so the dark vision is ooh 24 meters that'll be nice and then they'll have the default ratio for doing dancing lights i wonder if they'll give more racial canned troops later on down the line because remember correctly drows used to be able to create a zone of darkness with very least a small minor zone of darkness i may be thinking of third edition though i can't recall it's been a bit next on the sub race we have the cell deranger drow are the results of an ancient schism between the elven deities curling letharian and loth the latter's treachery drove the drought into the underdark where they splintered into warring factions so doreen drow can be found seeking allies from all over faerun aiming to settle their conflict with wolf and each other by any means necessary base racial speed is nine still so it looks like nine is going to be pretty basic across the board for most of these races of course we have fa ancestry still plus suited dexterity one charisma rapier short sword hand crossbow superior dark vision there is no difference at the moment okay hopefully there's gonna be more distinction down the line because at the moment it's just flavor which it wouldn't really make too much sense to have other sub-races like we see with the elves and the tieflings to have a few different things change but the drow don't have any change between the two [Music] unless they do a plan to have heavy story implementation between the two choices which in my mind that could balance out not having different racial features between the two but we'll believe that for later day [Music] human the most common face to see in faerun humans are known for their tenacity creativity and endless capacity for growth race features of course we have our base speed of nine still and humans doing as humans do plus one to everything pretty basic but also pretty balanced it's nice to have plus one to everything extra geth yankee you think he are peerless warriors from the astral plane known for the legendary silver blades and red dragon mounts they seek the total destruction of mind flayers whose ancient empire enslaved the githyanki for millennia racial speed is nine meters still intelligence plus one strength plus two and then our proficiencies are light armor medium armor short sword long sword great sword so very melee heavy race with a racial kantrip of the githyanki psionic magehand which although they named it differently it's still mage chant [Music] dwarf goldworth gold dwarves are known for their confidence and keen intuition the culture of their deep kingdom values family ritual and fine craftsmanship i always thought it was odd to have just the word ritual in the middle of this because i mean that you know context matters and i'm wondering like what would this pertain to ritual lies but it's possible that could just be my lacking of knowledge for their race in general racial features for dwarfs in general are going to be dwarven resilience you have advantage on saving throws against poison and you have resistances against poison damage constitution plus two and then our proficiencies are battle axe hand axe light hammer warhammer and then of course dark vision going up to 12 meters for gold dwarf specifically our subreddit traits will be dwarven toughness your hit point maximum increases by one and it increases by one again every time you gain a level base ratio speed 7.5 all right makes sense can be a little shorter p a little closer to the ground than most so it makes sense to have a slightly shorter run speed and then plus one to wisdom as always i've always kind of enjoyed the fact that dwarves across games across fantasy in general are always suited to tanking i just i don't know i just kind of like that about them i mean just tolkien uh and you know other games really grew ha i agree with fondness for doors i'll just i'll say that shield dwarf shell dwarf survived a long fall from grace surrendering many of their ancient kingdoms and wars with goblin goblins and orcs these losses have led to a cynical mindset yet shield orbs will endure anything to restore their ancestral homelands i feel for them that's that's a fairly tragic backstory that anyone can can enjoy racial features of course we have are the same and base three speed is still the same and then plus two to strength with ooh light armor and medium armor proficiency all right so the difference here will be one is hardier but one can have better armor proficiencies okay half elf a touch of the feywild remains in half elves with this bloodline and even those untrained and magic possess a hint of wild power now it looks like as before we can take a choice of our high elf cantrips the choices themselves have not changed this is interesting so for half elves race feature race ability improvements because we are technically half human so it looks like we can add an additional two to any we want and of course that star is just because right now the default has its own cleric all right ah but only one at a time and then of course half elves will have fey ancestry charisma plus two and then dark vision a basic 12 meters with the sub race trait being only the base racial speed feels a little lacking but then again the race feature itself i think makes up for it versus the sub race would have health like their wood elf parent these half valves have a quickened stride and a hyperstealth yet many break away from isolation in faerun's forest to explore the rest of the realms of course we still have our racial features by ancestry charisma and sub racial b movement speed is a little bit faster okay that's nice and then mask of the wild we saw on the other we saw in the other race with game proficiency in stealth and lastly we have halflings oh no no no i was too hasty there drow half elves most half drow result from liaisons between cell during drow and surfacers while half drow inherits a few magical gifts they aren't usually raised in the underdark of course all of our racial features are the same with our subrace traits being movement speed of nine and the dancing lights all right now we're on to halflings light food halfling lightfoot halflings are stealthy but social traveling all over faerun to make names for themselves their racial features in general will be lucky when you roll a one for an attack roll ability check or saving throw you can re-roll the die and must use the new roll [Music] dexterity plus two subway straight for lightfoot will be naturally stealthy an sp that speaks for itself proficiency and stealth checks base ratio speed is seven seven point five that'll be the same that we see with the dwarves and then plus one of charisma all right this feels pretty nice for knapflinks so far strong heart halfling legends say dwarven blood gave stronghearts their hardiness resistant to poison and wellsprings of endurance these halflings easily hold their own [Music] racial features are still the same and then sub race we have strongheart resilience you have advantage on saving throws against poison and resistance of poison damage with basilary speed is still 7.5 and then constitution plus one i always thought it was really interesting that this was a choice like i like this as haplings like in in general you kind of always expect halflings on the outside you expect them to be squishy or you know vulnerable in some way versus you know a big hulking orc so i like this is an option i mean in general we're gonna have dexterity for better ac scores and then higher constitution and then we have our boys resistance it's just a nice nice way to kind of beef them up a little bit i almost forgot i did not show you all the male counterparts for everyone so we'll take a few seconds to scroll through that waiver halflings strong heart light foot half elves we have high half elf wood half elf drow half elf now dwarf goldorff and shildorf get yankee human we have drow a little sworn and salvarine tiefling asmodeus [Music] methystopolis and zarya and now we have half the high elf wood elf and that is it for the races so far now origin is done race is done appearance now things aren't going to be as detail-oriented as we might see in some other games you can't go in there and just do things to your face as we had talked about previously the larian had used four different models to take high-res photorealistic imagery of their faces and then use those as bases to create 150 different faces for the races but dividing that among you know all of the races and sub races the choices do end up feeling limiting so with that in mind what we have available to us under the appearance tab we have voices now so far we're only gonna have four voice options to choose from one thing that bothers me a little bit that they didn't do that we saw in the original games is just the choice or not not the choice but the distinction between male and female and then neutral or just default middle the middle choice so it'd be nice to have that moreover more choices in general but considering all the dialogue that's being pushed through the game um it doesn't surprise me which it's not a problem it just i personally would like to see variety i like choices [Music] now we are going to be looking at faces there is going to be a number of them so we'll go down to one so there's gonna be a number of faces we're gonna go through each race will have a different number i think back to one two three four five all right so assume five per race per gender so far we have our choice of of course skin color you do have a lot of freedom with this though you don't have a random hex uh hex wheel you can choose for colors but at least there's a good enough variety here as it is we have eye colors and also all skin color i am wrong oh i've never been glad to be i'm glad i was wrong i was too hasty there now personally i also want to point out that this is also i want this to be an exploration for me with you guys when i had first touched the game i wanted to save this for later so i had just [Music] breezed through it to create something so i could start the game for the sake of the game itself this is neat though we have a lot of options here i'll skin color check mark and eye color will be the same thing hairstyles let's go down to oh we got a lot all right so bald and then we have a lot of hair there's a lot to choose from you have a feeling this might be the spot where most of y'all spend your time let's go through a couple just for the female real quick and of course tattoos are going to be an option if we want it's like this little bird eyes i'm not sure where the third one is four five six seven eight so we have enough options for all of these and of course we have let's get one okay tattoo slider intensity so you can fade it as much as you want all tattoo colors if you want to have a variety and makeup is also an option so it looks like it's just going to be limited to the eyes though [Music] with of course a similar slider for intensity and color choice which it looks like there isn't any extra with this button down here let me turn that off and see if there's a difference there is none right let's take a look at mail real quick of course we have a number of heads all of our skin colors so i guess these choices for skin colors are going to be here regardless eye colors hair colors tattoos this looks like a so it looks like a few things are standardized and i recognize this actually that let's say huh it's either for saloon no this is for salone ah interesting also fun fact that that star right there that's the old symbol for maestra which was adopted into selenae's symbol which has the accompanying eyes interesting we of course as i had mentioned in our previous video the six core classes are going to be cleric fighter ranger rogue warlock and wizard some of them will have subclasses available at level 1 as we see with cleric and some will gain it later down the line at different levels cleric clerics are representative of the gods they worship wielding potent divine magic for good or ill our available subclasses will be life domain light domain and trickery domain life domain the life domain is an aspect of many good deities offering spells that protect and restore the mind body and soul light domain the light domain is offered by deities of justice majesty and primordial flame providing spells that dispel darkness and harm the undead trickery domain a domain shared by wicked chaotic and mischievous deities alike those who channel trickery specialize in deception and illusion magic and one thing i have been very excited about which i have always kind of cling to the idea just enjoying the idea of it always hoping for it to be there regardless if it's being used or not is being able to have a slider to choose our deity and just gonna say off the bat we have a good number of choices first off we have celine the lady of silver provides over the moon stars and navigation her power over the heavens is constantly challenged by her sister char who seeks to plunge the world into eternal shadow now i think it's really interesting that this is the first deity that appears by default for the cleric because as some of y'all know i have kind of a mega theory about how the overall plot of the whole game is going gonna be about the dead three being entangled with shar and selune [Music] but not much is known yet so that's something we can mess with down the line next on this list is shar of course as the greater deity of darkness shar is feared for her power over the night secrets and loss [Music] she is locked in eternal conflict with her twin sister celune goddess of the moon i highly recommend you guys take a look at the lore behind these two sisters it's really interesting stuff not to mention it's also at the beginning so to speak [Music] tempest give us victory oh i used to love hearing bronwyn shot that into battle back in the day tempus is the lord of battles overseeing war and its soldiers he is the embodiment of honorable combat and condemns needless bloodlust tyr the blind god rules over law and justice encouraging valiant acts from his followers and relentlessly pursuing oath breakers bane one of the dead three who is going to be a major protagonist in this game i can feel it actually no it's been confirmed so i don't even know why i said that bane is a dark paragon of hate fear and tyranny he ascended to godhood alongside baal and merkel but loathes them both for taking power he believes is rightfully his i wonder if that i wonder if they're going to do a bit of retconning with the history of those three because originally when the three of them ascended to godhood and gained their power and they had to play a game of knuckle bones in order to make their choices of course bane made his choice first and got everything he wanted both quality and quantity wise in terms of because every deity owns domains they preside over domains so you know the god of death the god of fortune all that jazz so of course bain has multiple that he holds over so he is powerful on his own and then of course ball and merkel they got you know the basics murder and then lord of the dead which they were okay with but in general from what i remember bane got what he wanted so i wonder if this means he wanted probably feels cheated that he had to do than uncle mose to begin with but i've also seen conflicting information out there from official sources that that supposedly the god that they got their powers from when they first ascended is just binding his time and manipulating them [Music] i don't readily remember his name it was something very strange but we'll definitely see down the line maybe he could be a part of all this as well who knows helm how dare you not put merkel and ball right next to bane okay helm the watcher is an eternal century among the gods representing guardians across the plains after more than a century of fading worship helm's power was restored with the second sundering in which case helm if correctly did die for a while and the second sundering being the recent event that happened across faerun which would have only been a short number of years previously within the realms around the time of the sentence of avernus and just everything else going on there's an entire um i don't want to say book series but a book collection of different accounts of happenings during the sundering itself across faerun one of them in particular happens to be about elminster and what he was going through during the time of the sundering so if you're a book reader and you haven't um checked those out yet it'd be something to look into merkel oh bow and daddy he personally he's my favorite of three i did a fair number of research on the three of them a while back and he i find him to be most interesting a member of the dead 3 with ball in bane merkel is a cruel necromancer turned god inspiring the fear of death and mortals he often clashes with kelemvor the even-handed judge of fallen souls now another interesting thing with i guess possible retconning because the three of them are gonna be connected um i guess that's not that's not the right word for merkel specifically retconning as we know it they did die of course and kelemvor no no not coming for merkel he revived himself on his own through an ancient artifact that he instilled part of his a part of himself into and so he came back on his own after the death of he came back on his own did that artifact and during the time of his death though kelemvor had taken up the mantle of what merkel's duties was as a deity and supposedly ever since merkel revived he has been working under killumvor as one of his um as one of his subordinates but at the same time an official source that i had questioned a while back during the time of my research had stated that merkel obeys no one and he kind of just does what he wants to a degree so hopefully i guess that'll get cleared up as well as we go on through the games later on it'll matter the crying god protects the oppressed and persecuted his clergy is sworn to alleviate suffering even if that means taking on the pain personally i feel like a lot of you good-hearted out there would resonate with this god pretty easily i know i i know part of me does maestra oh my love i am only halfway through the series of ill minister books i need to hurry and finish them as the mother of all magic maestro oversees the weave and spreads arcane knowledge to mortal spellcasters her clerics preserve ancient lore and protect bastion's magical energy she is also one of the most interesting goddesses in all of the pantheon and is actually tied to char and selune at the core of it all she actually is in a way in the offspring of the two of them long story short one of their ancient fights between seluna and shar back in the day the fight between them created a massive energy that was maestra and that's how she came to be that on its own is the the whole history of those three and the beginnings everything is really interesting i really think y'all should go check it out is the god of inspiration and invention sharing knowledge with the world through his bards and clerics unlike many other deities oguma accepts all mortal alignments into his clergy kelumvor fair but distant kelemvor guides the dead to their appropriate plane in the afterlife his clergy provides last rites across faerun but also destroy undead that have escaped kellumbor's judgment now one thing i will say um about kelemvor now that we're on him here we got to if you read the men's comics you got to see a little bit of him with one of the newer characters and the way that works during my research and everything learning a little bit more about kelemvor once he took the mantle over merkel he really changed how everything was done he is a pretty fair-handed god and i would say is the good kind of neutral like his his people do good work in terms of helping the families of the deceased and all that jazz [Music] and ball the man that we all know and love [Music] now not a lot of people have noticed or aware of the murder in baldur's gate campaign setting for d d but did love and play the original games so y'all are aware of him but you're not aware of the updates that happened in that campaign i won't tell you the whole campaign story but what i will say is the result of that campaign showed us that ball was resurrected and currently is existing as existing in a very weakened state to where he can only subtly influence certain evil people but let's see what this little bit has to say about him ball is the notorious god of murder reborn after each of his descendants were viciously slain he has a tenuous alliance with merkel and bane the three having attained divinity in a bargain with the fallen god trigal that's the god i was that i was trying to think of earlier dragal [Music] so he is technically not gone jergal he's still hanging around the real question is what has he been doing he's kind of been to my knowledge out of the game for a while so with everything involved it is possible he might make a resurgence within this game but the last little tidbit to add about the dead three ball was canonically a subordinate specifically to bane uh i hope we get to see some stuff with them at the end of act one because that's all we're going to be getting um in early access at least to my knowledge that's all we're gonna be getting for early access the all hammer is a dwarven god worshiped by smith's artisan and miners alike he and laduger are constantly at odds all right i love that name moridin coralin letharian laurethian oh am i dyslexic lorethian huh i've been saying his name wrong all this time forgive me coral and i am sorry creator of the elves corlyn larathian oversees the elven pantheon as a whole providing blessings to those who study art magic and nature now he has his own history as well because of what happened with him in the wealth and as it is he is one of the oldest and greatest deities currently hanging around but i will i will leave it at that gal glitter gold garl glitter gold the watchful protector is the king of gnomish gods a deity of humor gem cutting protection and trickery yondala as the mother of halfling of the halfling pantheon yondala is known for her kindness and open mind encouraging her followers to protect the home hearth and nature [Music] loth another favorite of the the greater pantheon and a much much filled history the much rivaled matriarch of the drop pantheon loth holds sway over spiders the underdark and the infernal creatures of the demon web's pit pits her primary goal is to corrupt all drow transforming them into heartless cultists [Music] all you gotta know about wealth in general is she is a mean evil lady but also has her own interesting history between all the seldarine and the elven pantheon so i would also advise you to look into her her history la dougar and the exile is the tyrannical patron of the durgar his clerics are the unquestioned rulers of durgar society enforcing cold and callous behavior among his worshippers and for those of you who don't readily know uh durgar are basically dark dwarves that dwell in the underdark although that description may not do them justice i personally haven't looked into their lore vlakketh the lich queen is the sole respected leader of the githyanki she encourages their worship and unquestioning devotion essentially acting as a deity now from what i had seen previously lyzelle is going to be having some dialogue about blacketh here and there so it's just something to keep an eye out for when you're playing elystre elistrae is the goddess of good aligned drow beauty song and freedom the dark maiden the desires balance between all races and struggles against her mother-in-law's corrupt aims now this is a a classic example of the good child being born into an awful family but still trying to you know kind of get along and do what's right and helping people i i suggest looking into her um as well just for the sake of learning who she is in her uniqueness among her family within the dark soldering oh boy that is all of our deities that's a pretty good selection now back to the classes oh that went on a little too long and i do apologize ah but before i go i can't be too hasty so for clerics we will have three prepared spells and let's take a look at what they'll offer us bane target up to three creatures they receive a penalty to attack roles and saving throughs halt command command a creature to halt preventing it from moving or taking action create water call forth rain it extinguishes exposed flames and forms a water surface [Music] guiding bolt call forth a beam of light dealing radiant and radiant damage and grant advantage on the next attack against the target healing word a creature you can see regains hit points [Music] inflict wounds infuse your hands with putrifying energy that deals necrotic damage 3d 10 that that could potentially be a lot of damage protection from good and evil protect a creature against aberrations celestials elementals fae fiends and undead [Music] the target cannot be charmed frightened or possessed by them and when these creatures attack it they do so with this advantage in the old games there used to be a thing where you would use protection from evil and certain demons certain demons just wouldn't be able to see you like if you enter a room and a demon attacks you automatically if you go in there with protect evil they just wouldn't see you i wonder if to a degree that could still happen in this game shield of faith surround a creature with a shimmery field of magic that increases its armor by two bless bless up to three creatures they receive bonus to attack rules and saving throws cure wounds a creature you touch regains hit points the spell has no effect on undead or constructs right so that's what we have so far for prepared spells for this class of course maximum hit points per level nine with our class features being we can do spells wisdom saving throws charisma saving throws light medium arm proficiencies shield and simple weapon proficiencies of course our skill selections are going to be here subclass features with our domain spell so each domain will give us different things first we're going to be looking at is trickery can i click i can alright subclass domain spells with trickery are going to be charm person magically charm a humanoid that you can see disguise self magically change all aspects of your appearance actions blessings of the trickster grant another creature advantage on stealth checks and of course spells for bless and cure wounds now back to the life domain let's see if we have a difference we do heavy armor proficiency discipline of life which is your devotion empowers your healing spells when casting a healing spell the target regains additional hit points equal to two plus the spell's level [Music] and of course our domain spells are still okay blessing q wounds and then now for the light domain and our differences are rewarding flare shield yourself with divine light use your reaction to impose disadvantage on an attacker potentially causing their attack to miss and then of course the main spells oh now we have some differences burning hands fire shoots from your outstretched fingers it ignites anything flammable and deals fire damage fairy fire increase multiple tarp encase multiple targets in colorful light the targets turn invisible and attack roles against the targets have advantage you can't trip for a light all right and then still blessing your wounds and of course we have choices of cantrips but they're going to be guidance bestow guidance upon a creature it receives a bonus to an ability check for its of its choice resistance magically bolster a creature's defenses it receives bonus to saving throws and then sacred flame conjure a flame-like radiance that deals radiant damage all right lacking in choices but not bad [Music] so the trickery domain for this gives light as the option and then life domain white okay so there's a lot of similarities but kind of shuffled around i feel like there's a way they can construct that to be a little different finally we can move on from clerics they put so much into them fighter fighters have mastered the art of combat wielding weapons with unmatched skill and wearing armor like a second skin maximum hit points per level are going to be 12. with the class features being saving through proficiency in strength and constitution and then light a medium armor proficiencies with heavy armor in there too as it should be as it should be shield simple weapon and martial weapon prophecies everything a fighter needs with a class action of second wind draw on your stamina to protect yourself once per day you can regain hit points alright after our long journey journey after our long journey through the cleric class we get a refreshingly brief fighter ranger the love of my life for all the classes personally i've always gone with ranger just because of the versatility they can bring but that's just me rangers are unrivaled scouts and trackers honing a deep connection with nature in order to hunt their favorite prey now thankfully this time around favored prey is a little different than what we saw in the past it's not a specific creature or a specific race our options will be bounty hunter gain proficiency an investigation and learn the thieves can't passive creatures you restrain have a harder time escaping now for those of you who don't readily know or you don't recognize the you don't recognize it thief scan is basically sign language um very distinct sign language that functions based off of your dexterity keeper of the veil you specialize in hunting creatures from other planes of existence you gain proficiency in arcana and can cast protection from evil and good mage breaker you have a history of battling spellcasters gain proficiency with arcana and the true strike kantrip of course we saw that earlier which gives you an advantage on attack rules against the creature wisdom is your spell casting ability for this spell as it should be rangers use wisdom ranger night that a set of words that don't normally go together you have sworn to serve a crown or nation and seek to bring its foes to ruin gain proficiency with history and heavy armor now that's that's interesting on its own being able to have proficiency in heavy armor as a ranger sanctified stalker you swore to hunt the enemies of a holy or druidic order and gain proficiency in religion and sacred flame cancer which deals radiant damage wisdom is your spell casting ability for the spell that's that's really interesting actually it's definitely um a different take on the life that a ranger could lead now also as a part of this class we get what is being called nature explorer with different choices to choose from for extra bonuses beast tamer which i know a lot of us are going to be choosing you have cultivated a strong bond with animals you can cast fine familiar as a ritual urban tracker an expert at navigating the wild within the city you gain proficiency with the disguise kit and thieves tools and waistline wanderer cold fire and poison you have spent endless days surviving desolate tundras getting resistance to cold damage taking only half damage from it and of course with these it's the same for fire resistance to fire and half damage and the resistance to poison in half damage for the ranger class we will have 11 hit points per level with the class features being strength and dexterity saving throws light and medium armor proficiencies and then shield simple weapon and marshall proficiencies and that is it for the ranger not too simple but it has choices and i love choices rogue with stealth skill and uncanny reflexes a rogue's versatility lets them get the upper hand in almost any situation maxima hit points for rogues will be nine per level with the class features being dexterity and intelligent saving throws light armor and simple weapon proficiencies hand crossbow long sword rapier and short sword proficiencies and they get class actions sneak attack of course exploit a foes distraction to deal slashing damage and then sneak attack arranged okay melee and ranged okay the arranged equivalent very simple very edgy warlock now this one i know a lot a lot of you guys are going to be enjoying bound by a pact to an all-powerful patron warlock's trade their loyalty for supernatural abilities and unique magic now i personally haven't really looked into warlocks although i did play with a good friend a long time ago who really loved warlocks if remember correctly patrons for warlocks are usually a double of some sort so with that in mind given the possible plot ahead of us this might be a class that will provide more interesting dialogue and we get subclasses the fiend warlocks in service to fiends work towards corrupting destructive ends intentionally or otherwise and receive hellish blessings in return okay so then this goes according to the patron they serve the cantrips they're being tied to will be eldritch blast or as some of us would call old reliable conjure a beam of crackling energy that deals force damage and then blade ward gain resistance to bludgeoning piercing and slashing damage from weapon attacks but what other choices do we have we uh i recognize a few of these some blade ward we saw a chill touch we saw that earlier eldritch blast and then friends we saw that earlier mage hand minor illusion poison spray and true strike okay so these are spells that we went over earlier and now for your actual spells your options will be of armor of the agathis hackathes agathiath a spectral frost covers you gained five temporary hit points and deal five coal damage to any creature that hits you with a melee attack arms of hadar call forth tendrils of dark energy targets take necrotic damage and can't take reactions that seems like a fun one on a successful save targets only take half damage burning hands of course we saw that earlier charm command halt oh here we go expedia's retreat turn dash into a bonus action allowing you to move at incredible at an incredible pace hellish rebuke the next time you take damage you use your reaction to surround your attacker in hellish flames that deal a lot of fire damage on a successful save the target only takes half damage hex curse a creature to deal an additional necrotic damage whenever you hit it with an attack the creature also has disadvantage on ability checks for one ability of your choosing and then of course we saw protection and then which bolt call forth a beam of crackling purple energy deals 1d12 lightning damage and links you to the target through an arc of lightning each turn you can activate the arc to automatically deal lightning damage that's an interesting one and now our hit points per level will be of course 10 we have a rollout class spot spell slots wisdom saving throw charisma saving throw light armor and simple weapon all right that's pretty balanced considering all the spells that will be available to them and the subclass though for the fiend will be the dark one's blessing when you reduce a hostile creature to zero hit points this gift from your patron grants you charisma modifier plus level hit points next for the subclass is the great old one warlocks bound to eldritch beings in the far realms work towards inscrutable goals gaining strange powers over entropy and the mind now just i guess minor clarification going back the fiend is of course um self-explanatory but over here with the far realms it's basically so not trying to do it any sort of injustice by explaining it this way but the fall realm is basically a dimension outside of our own where things that are very lovecraftian come from and there is historical conjecture about that possibly being where the lithius originated from however long ago but nothing was ever written about it it's something pretty interesting to look into also on its own now let's see if you have different can trips you do not so that of course is a part of the class but your spells look different now what's different in this lineup will be dissonant whispers and flicks frightened whisper a discordant melody to a creature it takes psychic damage and becomes threatened on a successful save the creature only takes half damage and then of course we saw all of these with the new one being tasha's hideous laughter inflict a creature with fits of laughter leaving it prone and incapacitated at the end of its turn or when it takes damage the creature can try to shake off the effect pre-weka's prerequisite the creature needs to have an intelligence score of five or more of course all of these are still the same and then we're going to sub classes okay so rolex will only have fiend and great old ones to choose from and you get different little logos i think these are really neat for all the classes and last but certainly not least for our classes the wizard wizards master the arcane by specializing in individual schools of magic combining ancient spells with modern research alright what can trips do you have available to you acid splash we saw that earlier blade ward chill touch dancing lights fire bolts friends light mage hand minor illusion poison spray true strike shocking grasp and ray of frost okay so things we saw earlier now your actual spells i see some new ones in there we haven't seen so far let's see burning hands we saw a charm person color spray i was wondering when you would show up create a dazzling array of flashing colored lights that blinds creatures up to a combined 33 hit points course disguise self retreat false life bolster yourself with a necromantic facsimile of life to grant five temporary hit points featherfall i know a lot of us got to see this in one of the previous demos slow the rate of descent of allied creatures grants immunity to fall damage find familiar and gain the service of a familiar a face beer that takes an animal form that you choose fog cloud creates a cloud of dense fog creatures submerged in the fog are heavily obscured and blinded grease to cover the ground in grease it becomes difficult to rain and creatures within can fall prone jump touch a creature to triple its jumping distance long stride touch a creature to increase its speed by three meters mage armor surround a creature in a protective magical force its armor class is increased by three ah magic missile the bread and butter of all wizard kind creates three darts of magical force each dealing force damage to its target of course we saw this one and then ray of sickness call forth a ray of sickening energy dealing poison damage and possibly poisoning the target put creatures up to a combined 24 hit points into a magical slumber and this one we also saw in one of the demos where it's actually going to be an aoe spell so that's going to be really useful down the line for heavier combat thunder wave release a wave of thunder's force it deals thunder damage and pushes away creatures and objects and then it looks like that's the last new one [Music] and then of course we can choose our prepared spells our hit points per level will be eight with the class features being spells intelligence and wisdom-saving throws dagger and dart and sling weapon proficiencies quarter staff and light crossbow proficiencies okay with a basic action of arcane recovery once per day out of combat replenish expended spell slots which allow you to cast spells okay so this will be i guess in place of doing a full rest for the whole party this will be what a lot of wizards will be using in between combat all right i like it i like it i will say though going back to the icons um some of them i like they've kind of run on me a bit but overall i kind of miss some of the older ones that they showed off in the past but i mean hey i can argue when some of these look really good so that's just me being a little picky all right that is it for the classes but what's left let's look at our skills now this is going to be all based on our choices so from here we're going to have things that are here by default that are going to be in yellow but we will have choices arcana history investigation medicine and like i said all these in general are going to be based on our prior choices so make sure you keep an eye on this when you're making your character and don't just um blow through it picking something willy nilly like these will actually matter so give it give it some thought based on how you want to play your character you will receive a bonus to every skill that you are proficient in this bonus increases as you gain levels in your class and applies to all checks for that skill and thankfully it gives us a list of skills we are not proficient in so in general these are things that we can do roles on so when you're walking into an area you can naturally you know do a perception check or you can actually do deception if you're trying to lie someone but you just won't be proficient in it it'll just be a base rule and lastly our abilities now i am very sad to say that we're not gonna be spending hours on hours on hours just clicking re-roll every roll reroll like we did in the old days i know it's maddening but it's basically gambling you just you're not gonna leave until you get what you want and then when you finally do get it but because you're clicking so quickly for so long you click again by accident and you just lose it all together you just feel that pain of just ah we are not gonna have that experience in baldur's gate three at least not for a while remember correctly it was stated that for the time being this will be the system that we're going to have and they are looking into other skill point systems to implement it's something they're going to have to experiment with down the line but i do not think it is going to be any priority for them all you need to understand is you have 27 points the more you use them the bigger the cost becomes and so things can drain quicker so if you're not used to messing with ability scores and all that stuff i would say for you for the time being make everything an even 10 this way you don't have any disadvantages because stats in general 10 is your neutral every time you get too far away you'll take disadvantage but if you go above it you can gain advantages so something to keep in mind on if you want to be really risky you can take stats out of something that you really don't care about and suffer that negative to allow you to put it somewhere else but personally i wouldn't recommend it unless you know what you're doing and are trying to do something very specific so in general you know strength as we all know is strength strength influences your chance to land a hit and your damage with strength based weapons it affects the distance you can jump and the weight you can carry dexterity x30 influences your chance to land a hit and your damage with dexterity based weapons it also influences your chance of going first in combat and the enemy's chance of hitting you so the higher dexterity you have you will also get better armor class from it constitution constitution influences your maximum number of hit points the amount of damage you can take pretty simple intelligence wizards use intelligence as their spell casting ability the likelihood a spell will land now in general whatever class you choose when you finally do get to the ability points a star will be over what your class's primary primary ability stat is going to be so if you don't know um too well what you're doing just keep a lookout for this and just give that your attention wisdom druids rangers and clerics use wisdom as their spell casting ability the likelihood spells will land and charisma bards paladins sorcerers and warlocks use charisma as their spell casting ability the likelihood spells will land they wrote in their bards paladins sorcerers remember they're coming not yet but they're coming we will have more classes as time goes on and that is it everyone so without further ado this everyone has been a mega video on the character creation we have so far for the first week of early access in case you haven't gotten your hands on the game yet if you're waiting to see what's out there before making your decision you're just on the fence i hope this can kind of help as long as it has been um this is what we have so far it is known that down the line we're gonna have a lot more options to choose from we will have our origin characters we're going to have more backgrounds of course more races will be populated into here more sub races will be coming into here and there's always the possibility for traits to have minor adjustments appearance i personally don't think we're gonna get too much more out of this i mean i would love it if we could i would say at most we might get more voice options with minor ui changes and as i mentioned earlier we will also be getting more classes so be on the lookout for that and that that is
