baldi's basics involves a psychopathic head teacher called baldi baltimore taunting a student by smacking his ruler on his hand before taking each of his steps the unnamed protagonist is required to solve simple math problems before collecting a notebook in order to escape the traumatizing prison represented in the shape of a school hi folks i'm r your narrator you can follow me on twitter where you can send me game suggestions this video will contain spoilers about baldi's basics with that in mind let's begin [Music] baldi's basics revolves around the presumable student who desperately tries to collect seven notebooks after solving a set of free math equation problems for each book the protagonist who we will dub as the student for the purpose of the video as greeted by professor baldi who refers to this representation of a school as his schoolhouse he guides the student to solve the math equation problems at the end of which he gives the student a prize if he answers all three correctly after solving the first set of three problems baldi warmly congratulates the student and a cryptic line reads that the student exists this raises the first red flag that this isn't a normal school or whatever it is intended to be a set of school rules written on a poster hung on the hallways wall then reveals that breaking the fourth wall is against the rules a rule that has been directly addressed to the players and possibly the characters within the game the student then proceeds to the second room to solve the simple math problems that's when the corruptions show through the cracks the third math problem is intelligible with no way solving it this angus baldy as regardless to how hard the student tries he can't wrap his head around what the equation says boldly frustrated with the student's wrong answer changes his upbeat mood to a grumpy teacher chasing after the student while taunting him hitting his long wooden ruler on his palm as the student in panic tries to find the other five books he comes across several other characters within this hillish school who cause hindrance and make it more difficult for him to progress these characters are very strange and seem to poorly represent what they are supposed to be playtime despite her poor eyesight and short memory she's always looking for a playmate [Music] arts and crafters shy and tries to be avoided doesn't like being looked at and gets jealous at people with more notebooks than him it's a bully here at here school we believe every good school needs a good bully that's why we have this kid what no items no items i'll take that it's my name principle of the thing if i see anyone breaking the school rules i'll make sure justice is served it tastes good and fills my tummy no entering school faculty only rooms in the halls 15 seconds detention for you you should know better when will you learn your parents will hear about this one got a sweep what do you do when the school opens in seven hours and you haven't hired a janitor hire a broom it sweeps everything looks like it's sweeping time got a sweep sweep sweep there are more characters which were introduced in later versions of the game but these are the main characters the bully's description reads out that every good school needs a good bully this is a sarcastic insinuation that all schools have bullies despite the multiple anti-bullying campaigns and unethical nature of it in other words a bully is an element of the schools and each school is defined by it therefore a real school always has a bully gotta sweep is another character which defines a school however the abnormal nature of this character raises more red flags gonna sweep fills the role of a janitor which each school has but i suggested the school couldn't get an actual janitor and instead got an actual broom in a rush the broom sweeps on its own without anyone controlling it and it tries to make the players believe it's a normal phenomenon and finally the principle fulfills the role of a principal on paper he makes sure that the rules are not broken however the line where it says that he makes sure justice is served it's strangely followed by it tastes good and fills my tummy this is yet another sign that the school is controlled by a corrupt ai that mistook the lines and instructions creating an abomination of a school it makes up the meaning behind just as he served and food is served which explains the reason why the principal mentions it tastes good and fills his tummy the ai couldn't get a janitor fulfilling the computing commands as mentioned by the description that what you do when you can't get a janitor and instead created a self-sweeping broom moving on its own dismissing the factual real world possibilities that brooms need an actual janitor to move around and fulfill their purpose sweeping the floors as mentioned it was 7 hours before the school opened hence there was a need of a janitor the ai in a rush creates a broom to fill that role a subsequent poster suggests that the game characters cannot see through the windows which is not a game design which further indicates that the game is in fact corrupted this explains why the math equations are unintelligible and not much makes sense in the surreal prison-like school the ai delegated and put in charge to create an edutainment game instead mixes up many of the instructions and creates a horrifying nightmare with many obstacles embodied by the characters of the game and a sociopathic antagonist who is represented by the head teacher baldi [Applause] [Music] after the student collects all seven notebooks baldi congratulates him in contradiction to his violent behavior chasing after the student further proving that the game has corrupted congratulations you found all seven notebooks in a distorted voice while congratulating the student body instructs the student to get out while he still can unveiling that has sent us their fate is awaiting the student if he doesn't manage to escape a fate worse than death a fate that will trap the student in this prison of a school for eternity the student exits the school he's rewarded with a screen congratulating him with the students still being able to replay the game raising the question whether he actually managed to escape the schoolhouse or not replaying the game and this time on purpose answering the math problems incorrectly the student is able to exit the school once more this time a screen informs the student that there's room for improvement and is instructed to visit baldi in his office when the student goes to baldi's office he witnesses an overstretched body and a strange corrupted character called filename 2 who unveils more eerie information about this twisted place [Music] [Music] [Music] don't tell anyone about this destroy the game is [Music] [Music] [Music] there's [Music] it shows that this character is trying very hard to explain something horrific is happening to them but another president has taken control over its words and actions filename 2 somehow manages to explain that is trapped within this game while being heavily filtered and controlled by something something else that contradicts him saying that he's not saying that he's being trapped here as it would be ridiculous it seems as if the characters within the game are self-aware but heavily controlled by a corrupt ai system the characters who are not fully controlled are tossed into baldi's office an office that is off limit hence why file name two gets surprised when the student finds them the student only manages to go to baldi's office after answering all the questions incorrectly something that the ai did not anticipate in there there's also an unused corrupted model of baldi showing how the decommissioned models and characters are tossed there the most unsettling aspect of the secret interaction with filename 2 is the fact that he's not addressing the student character but the real life players controlling the protagonist instructs the players to destroy the game and not talk about it as all copies act as a hive mind a life being trapping self-aware characters within the game with their only redemption being when players stop playing the game in fact the oppressive evil ai created an alternate version of schools or in other words how it saw the schools are like creating selfish and clingy playmates who at times dismissed their counterpart needs and get them in trouble horrible bullies who torment the students principals who detain the students for silly rules they have created an abusive teacher who gets angry at students not being able to solve unintelligible problems the teacher mistakenly created himself despite the determination of these characters in reality they are controlled by the ai carrying out tasks unwillingly being tormented to suffer a never-ending fate acting out how they are designed to baldi's basics also represents the harsh reality of the manipulative teachers and how schools act as a social construct alternatively shaping students how they see fit by imposing certain rules and teaching
