Back In The Tractor Cab!

good morning oh let's open up the shop door and get the day rolling [Applause] [Music] all right we have the 85 30. hooked up to the cultivator now the cultivator may look shockingly similar to the hiller which it is it's the same same idea here you got the little cutting wheel up there throws the dirt over here however it has these little cultures on them hence the name cultivator so what i'm going to be doing is switching these little discs from their upright position to a place where they can actually be cutting away the weeds from the base of the plant it is so hot outside and there is no breeze and flies are just biting me up and down not too pleasant um so we got that done now we got the hiller here from where oh that lemonade would be perfect thanks grandma one second i need to take the tractor to the field and i need to get back to leave the tractor there so i put the three wheeler in hello everybody i'm on top of pivot again i'm at the end gun this thing swings back and forth flapping anyway there was rust inside this guy it was a really big piece of rust and so it wasn't uh flapping quite right so i came out and fixed it so [Music] so a little update on beans these are androids they don't look very good here we go we've been having a little problem with these japanese beetles they have the characteristics of a airsoft pellet when they hit your windshield they go funk they don't even explode but they are everywhere and they're gross it's worse on the ends it's not as bad out in the middle of the field but if they get any worse we might have to spray for them see all these little holes and leaves that's them they're just out here eating but here next to the corn corn is getting like eight nine foot tall the beetles don't like the corn as much so i think they'd rather be in the soybeans no tassels yet here they'll be coming on pretty soon and then the ears will come to follow quick little update on the crops out here and from nebraska okay so quite a bit of time has passed since grandma asked me if i wanted some lemonade it was delicious by the way and honestly could not have come in a more perfectly timed moment i was filming and saying like what did i just say it's so hot out here i'm sweaty flies are biting me grandma offers lemonade she knows just what to do so the little coulter disc put down job i did that wrong dad was gracious and he was gonna try it out and see if it worked i was supposed to put him a lot closer and they're far away so i did all that sweat and pain for nothing i did it wrong so i was a little discouraging um i did not expect to be in a tractor today at all didn't pack a lunch so i ran home real quick made myself a little grilled cheese got some banana bread all this good stuff and then so i'm healing right now i'm mailing beans not corn um dad is in the cold speeder right now we actually so this is our new hiller and the knives that go down we're just a little too far down so we had to raise all those up and that was a whole big ordeal filled the tractor up with fuel and we're finally out here so lemonade was three hours ago maybe four but i am so grateful to be in the air conditioning because the tractor says it is almost 100 degrees right now so it was really toasty working outside and all this stuff but healing is going great i can see weeds and i'm getting them all knocked out um this is my bean field i think they're looking so good like i did point out the other day of a little bit of damage on the top leaves from some asian beetles that have come in and started to feed on the top leaves but it doesn't look like it's getting too out of hand so yeah there's a little update for you all right ready to be satisfied oh yeah i can see again [Music] i definitely thought i was on hiatal that whole time but i wasn't okay anyways um i'm done with this field here let's see if i get a better view yep done so i'm lifted up from this pass start my wings folding in i did not pin my wings sorry dad just really didn't want to get out um i was feeling i'm just feeling a little tired um i have a lot on my mind my brain never gets chances rest i'm always thinking about the next thing whether that be the dishes and laundry i have to do or the test i have to take tonight and then the homework and group project i have to do before the end of the week i'm just always thinking about stuff um so maybe i'll just try and relax on this short drive back to the farm with the tractor um but it's nice to get a field knocked out and always good to spend time in the tractor cap we are to the point in the year where the corn is so tall that you cannot see who's coming and so it's very important if you're driving in the country um stop at the intersection make sure that no one's flying through because people hit these intersections at 60 70 miles an hour so be safe this time of year look lots of directions stop at intersections you
