Stranded In a Cornfield

[Applause] all right everybody come in the shop it's actually super windy outside hasn't been windy for months wind is just blowing hard today the uh the forklift the the forklift does not do so well in this building so this is the big like uh just cold storage it's it's super hot in here but with the rock like my mower got stuck here forklift got buried over there um yeah anyways this is the tank that grant bought with his planter which is right over there kind of fell off the forklift and the forklift got stuck trying to pick it back up um my goodness i'm getting stuck walking in here anyways we get to take out a vehicle that we have not taken out in quite some time grant and i are going to drive the old red fort today because it happens to be hooked up to our thunder crick fuel trailer not to be confused with the thunder creek this is the um knockoff homemade version of that but it's got a diesel tank on it and some diesel exhaust fluid and we're gonna take the pickup on a little adventure what a beautiful view all right what is the uh over under that this thing's gonna fire up give her a few pumps oh my goodness i'm sorry i doubt it first turn of the key maybe i spoke too soon it's kind of smokey in here are you okay i think some oil is burning up oh i smell that that's a little nasty corns looking great babe is this yours this is the worst looking corn we have oh are you kidding me thanks for the compliment look at this oh it's at least it's standing this this field got hit pretty hard with the storm man it's probably it was over a month ago now um you can see the leaves are just completely stripped here it stood back up decently i'll walk out in there it's a little different different story yeah all right i guess we'll see how it harvests it'll be great oh here we go okay okay you make this thing yourself [Applause] so upon closer inspection yeah the corn is leaning pretty pretty good uh so look at this i wanted to show you so this is the first taproot on a corn plant um it's like a stabilizer but as this corn plant was leaning down it grew second taproots third taproots fourth taproots those roots are trying to reach down and push the plant back up i think that's so cool second pull not too shabby as grant is working all that um i wanted to show you in the field this stuff grant was not kidding when he said that you couldn't walk through it it's completely laid over um that's pretty bad in here grant i'm sorry to say this corn looks terrible the tank is out oh boy oh my god that's all she wrote 40 45 4 cylinder john deere diesel engine and its only job is to run this pump here and run water power pivot it has oh it's definitely good all the battery is this a surprise no i have an idea all right what's your idea i'll switch the battery with the truck there we go old red ford come in handy good old ford ranger pick a battery in place let's see if it'll start hey uh prime the pump push in the little button you were i mean it ran out of fuel didn't it oh it didn't well i say we give up oh my goodness grant sweetheart was that a mouse that's a fat one look at that guys 2 4 6 8 10 12 14 good job babe looking nice be some little raccoon supper tonight you guys it is so hot out here the sprinkler oh it feels so good i could stand here all day [Music] the uh the old truck won't start and uh remember how hot i said it was grant and i have a long walk ahead of us so it's a good thing i cooled off a little bit first it's like it never ends i'll keep you guys posted still walking still walking still walking it's saturday farming farming never stops man it does stop when things break down that's when we go we made it to a road still walking though we made it barely but we made it home we grabbed a four-wheeler and are going around checking up pivots now this one's running uh grant's just adding a little bit of drip oil [Music] here's the second well we're checking so we ended up checking a lot more than just two wells however i fell asleep you heard that right i fell asleep on the forum um for the whole rest of the well so obviously i needed a nap so grant was gracious enough to check everything on his own while i slept now we are out enjoying a very hot afternoon slash evening ride jeeping in the flat river with our friends oh [Applause] oh
