hello everyone welcome back to the farm i can already tell you it is going to be a great day it's kind of cool outside cloudy overcast um just a nice feeling in the air uh and we get to chop today i'm very excited we're gonna be chopping some milo originally we're going to take this milo'd harvest it's in one of my seed fields it's around the borders however birds have been eating it um yeah so we're gonna chop it and that's fine by me because i love being in the tractor [Applause] we begin our day like most days with dad and i talking in the farm shop office for several hours um but next uh 8345r my baby my favorite tractor dad fueled it up for me now i just have to unhook the box scraper and we'll hook up to a silent wagon i do need to add hydraulic fluid i can see by this site gauge here but before i do that i'm just going to power wash this whole thing off so here is the before and here's the after it definitely is a lot better but remember we're going for progress not perfection around here doesn't have to be perfect ah i love the smell of hydraulic fluid in the morning nice way to start out the day a little facial for my leg right i don't know if you've ever smelled hydraulic fluid it smells gross the i had a big two and a half gallon jug and it exploded all over me how how on deck today we have dad in the trusty chopper and me and the wagon puller the wagon girl auger cart this is not a grain cart a silage cart salad wagon whatever you want to call it is silage just for corn or like it's milo that's chopped also called silage any experts please let me know this is the best hookup mechanism i love it now we're just going to get this hydraulic hooked up and we'll head out to the field seed corn is looking beautiful if you see all the little greens growing in between the cornrows those are turnip and radish seeds that we spread while we were destroying this field and that's going to be food for our cows this winter as well as just a general cover crop on the field very excited about they're going growing excellently so usually for this operation dad [Music] okay don't mind the radio chatter usually so dad chops until his wagon is full and then uh we unhook i hook on a full one go back to the farm but today we're going to chop traditionally like dad shoots the silage into my wagon we'll see how this goes alright let's go gang here we go it's going to it's just like being a green car driver where the combine is unloading you just have to drive really carefully so you don't run into him but you make it as easy on the combine or the chopper driver as possible so i'm just lying myself right up next to dad okay nice and easy and is it working oh yeah nice [Music] okay just want to match his speed come a little bit closer you saya all right i'm gonna try to drive and give you a little bit better idea how close we are together here here's our milo and it's just shooting right back into the wagon here and i am very very full that was pretty efficient and now i'm going to head back to the farm and dump a load [Music] okay dad and i just did a little switch roux because he was chopping the whole time that i was dumping so now i get to dump another full trailer and he'll go start chopping and then we'll probably just continue doing this until all the milo is chopped um for record sake future laura i just dumped the fourth load okay um anyways i did not have time for breakfast this morning i know everyone should make time for breakfast i just i wasn't i wasn't ready to commit to a bowl of cereal you know and i don't want to make anything so i just grabbed some coffee and ran out of the house well it is now way past lunch time and the only food i've had today is a piece of toast i guess that was kind of breakfast um but anyways so i i don't you guys know i don't drink coffee in the mornings on the regular i'll have an energy drink here or there but i was feeling a little shaky because i hadn't had food and i had a lot of caffeine so i grabbed a juice out of the shop bridge to try and hydrate myself and i just looked and it has a hundred milligrams of caffeine in it which would explain why i am sitting still in air conditioning and my heart rate is at 112. so word to the wise read the label before you drink the whole bottle um and don't forget to eat breakfast kids other than that everything's going really well okay for record sake i just done our fifth load everybody remember that but i'm stopping quick at the farm because i remembered that this morning i left a cookie warming up in my car for a time such as this if you know me cookies are my favorite i like them better than ice cream and cake oh and it's chocolate chip it's gonna be warm and gooey i'm so excited perfect it would appear we have an issue be very careful dad what do you think the problem is uh this this side is slowing down i think it's a slip clutch we've got to um i gotta open it up and take a look okay hopefully this does not put a stop to our day i was having so much fun dad is going to drive the chopper back to the farm so we can open it back up i left the empty trailer here hooked on the full trailer so that i can go dump that back on the farm for our records this will be the sixth load we have dumped um but while i'm out here since i have a little bit of time now i wanted to show you what we are chopping so this is milo or grain sorghum is like the more proper name um the bottom kind of looks like a corn plant it's got similar leaves they're a little bit smaller and here's this skinny little stem and then all these milo seeds at the top uh the only thing i've eaten that's been made with milo is a cookie so it was like milo or grain sorghum flour and ground up and turned into a cookie it's pretty good um so yeah this is what we're shopping so dad just raced back and i guess he came up with an idea in his famous words improvised adapter will come so i guess we're still rolling nice for our records i just dumped the seventh load you guys are really actually helping me keep track here just dumped the eighth load of milo mom just delivered lunch oh i'm so excited so now i'm driving this wagon back to dad and when i drop that off i'm gonna drop his lunch off too best delivery food delivery has been made the work day can go on i would just like to say she does not get much if any screen time my mother is the true star of the show none of this would be possible without her so i love you mom you're the best shout out to you and ninth load dumped we are making some serious progress you guys 10th load dump yay and 11th load is dumped and i am coming off my caffeine high and i am feeling very sleepy but onward we push do you guys remember at the beginning of the video where i said this chalked around a slow hydraulic fluid leak um yeah do you see those little lines in the road that's not hydraulic fluid i got a little bit worried that it was um but then i stopped the tractor got out and looked and it is just my little ac drains um if you guys remember from planting season i was having terrible problems with those little drains plugging and then the water would just slowly fill up the ceiling and drip out of the vents but they are unclogged and now i don't have any water in my ceiling and it's draining out properly like it's supposed to the only reason i can see it on the road is because i keep driving the exact same way and this is well i mean this i've just dumped my 11th load so 11 times 2 that's 22. i've driven this exact same route 22 times yeah hydraulic fluid is holding steady we are doing well and staying cool future laura and dad next time we're at tractor supply don't forget to buy a snow plow spring for the silage wagons ours are sprung we need new ones don't forget put it on the list 12 loads dumped and going back for more we're not done yet that was number 13 i think uh my guess is three more loads we'll see if that's true or not 14th load just dumped silage pile is getting massive oh boy all right dad do not get stuck we are so close to being done come on come on oh it's going sideways ah [Music] all four tires look like they're pointing in different directions oh boy all right i'll keep you posted and 15th load i think just one more but i'm not sure and 16th and final load dumped that was a big day overall delightful day super productive even though i sat in the exact same spot all day long very productive day we will see you next time bye guys oh i almost forgot if you like these videos and want to see more please subscribe to my channel it means the world okay now i'm done thanks
