Back Home after Corona Ended our World Bicycle Tour | Cycling the World 64

about two years ago we set off on a world tour by bicycle we hit the road and fell from one amazing experience into the other the helpful hand of strangers seeing all the faces of the elements tasting the local cuisine and being witness to all everyday life of other cultures has to offer being together 24 7 taking it all in a journey of a lifetime for sure now the coronavirus of 2020 stopped us in our tracks and forced us to take a flight back home we feel incredibly privileged to be able to do such a thing but still we leave with a heavy heart okay [Music] all right we're landing it's super crazy um just crossed the border into the netherlands the air border of course and uh it's such a strange feeling to be back home again we landed a few moments and then we're back home again after how long it's very serious it's all surreal after more than 22 months out on the road and then suddenly touchdown [Music] okay thank you have a good day thanks see the smelling dutch i can smell i think you can smell the cows we heard that you can get a fine if you're too close to people 400 euros wow [Music] all right all our stuff let's get the bikes together and then we'll head out [Music] so we are now packed up ready to go it was a little bit tricky still because i broke something off my bike and we have to replace it probably all the bike shops are closed so we had a we had a simple but delicious dinner yeah it was crazy to be in our regular shop again with all the possibilities and yeah so familiar in a way like you've never been away on your trip or something yes strange thing and we spoke to some of the security here on the airport we talked a little bit about the situation here in the netherlands very nice guys it's very nice to speak in our own language again so yeah it was quite bittersweet to arrive here but now we're in good spirits and we're gonna ride to a hotel yeah all right here on the bikes good old-fashioned dutch weather today windy it's freezing almost and the sun is shining man it's lovely out here you can smell the cows we're back home [Music] so as you can see we're back in farmland and uh it's totally weird i have to say i do really enjoy it it's just really interesting to feel kind of a new perspective on your country after being for two years on the road a lot of wins a lot of cow smell but yeah i'm enjoying it so far and we're also kind of stoked to have big supermarkets again anyway we do really enjoy being on the road now and we will go through the center of the netherlands uh and uh we're going to the dyke we will cross the dike and from there eric is filming me as well and there we will head back home so yeah strange but nice feels good yeah i didn't expected it to feel this natural and people are super friendly and just home and i love it yeah it's really really good that we are not um in quarantine yet um that was a prospect of course that we would meet family and then we would be locked up inside of a sleeping uh sleeping chamber and you say that so obvious but we're now we're free still people are walking around and people riding their bicycles and we're just part of it and yeah good stuff [Music] being back home to our favorite supermarket the little and the choices are just exactly what we know right now man it's great so how was the situation in the supermarket the situation in the supermarket is is strange everybody needs this super large cart there's everybody is keeping their distance in the supermarket and uh it's just a real um it's just a really strange situation people are are going like this like you go and please take your cards there's also this with one special security guy he's helping with cleaning cards and you have to get this card from that row and then you have to put it back when you're finished in the other row and that's just it's it's thorough but it's we never seen that before we've never seen that before so we made out we made it to our first camp spot here in the netherlands we are in a batch of wood it's all surrounded by farmland so we have to be a little bit quiet because wild camping is not allowed here in the netherlands but all campings are closed now or the season didn't start yet or they are closed because of the coronavirus we are here we're going to clean up this little patch uh beneath me here and i'm gonna set up the tent and have some dinner yeah it was a really nice day um it's really interesting to experience the netherlands after being for two years on the road you see all these small details that we didn't see for so long and it was a beautiful day yeah really it was nice weather nice people yeah so feeling good how do you feel yeah it was such a beautiful day today so that was a great reacquaintance with the netherlands yeah super nice and the first camp always exciting so we're gonna we're gonna make our little house again and have something to eat yeah let's do that let's do it let's do it yeah [Music] so the end is coming near one of the last cold nights in one of our favorite spots in the forest yes really cold it was well at night it was not that cold in the tent there was no wind but yesterday whoa yeah and my fifth feet this morning also like ice blocks so from from the convenience of our bangkok uh air conditioned to airbnb to the to the freezing forests of the netherlands uh the countries couldn't be bigger yeah but it's so good to be in our our own type of harvest it feels really good yeah there were squirrels this morning and the birds are chirping and people jogging here so we're really
