One Year Cycling the World | a Bicycle Touring Short Film

are you excited yes yes i can feel it in my stomach it's always a little bit scary just border crossing ah nervous you feel it in my stomach a little bit a little bit his nervous excitement [Applause] [Music] so [Music] this is the day that we leave i had a good night's sleep but i'm also anxious to go family and friends will be waiting for us in a couple of hours end of april 2018 we set out for the journey of a lifetime leaving family and friends our plan was to cycle for two and a half years eastward and see how far we could go china thailand or even to australia this video is our first year cycling the world unexperienced with bicycle touring but with great enthusiasm we set out through europe and on to the middle east soaking up all the road had to offer forgot my gloves at a break so to cycle a few kilometers back quite important because really cold hands today got them what's up my standard is just jamming [Music] can we shelter under the there by the garage yes is thank you thank you it's pouring and it's nice are you okay yeah what [Music] [Music] what an absolutely amazing place we're in right now this valley is broad and there's so many things going on here all these war-torn buildings bullet halls roofs collapsed the good news is there are a lot of people rebuilding these old houses and live up the place again hey good morning i had a and that's a good night's sleep i don't want to be negative but there was a the dogs were barking every 45 minutes i guess that aside the morning is just beautiful and it's absolutely gorgeous here yesterday when we were looking for a place to sleep we saw a couple on the road and they were hurting their sheep and we spent the night here between their small fruit trees the terrain is absolutely killing now it's steep and gravel everywhere boulders and rocks it just breaks the bike down breaks us down man this is tough cookie it's really steep and all these boulders make it really difficult all kinds of gullies from car tires and mud it's just super difficult so we're here at the top now there's the downhill it looks like a river bedding it's gonna be uh pretty difficult i guess so uh it's a little bit slippery you have to be careful it just rained helmets on and here's maudi it's really he's looking forward to this downhill a bit it's your favorite part it's totally random it's like we're going down a riverbed i said that and we were going up a riverbed too yes it is just a little bit crazy out here [Music] okay we're now whispering here in this room that we got from an albanian family i don't know what to say they are so nice they're so nice wonderful wonderful people oh she's really sweet [Music] [Applause] [Music] um [Music] so [Music] wow you're walking through the fast [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] okay [Music] it's absolutely stunning between the mountains just like we're part of the wilderness here just amazing we're just about to call it a night and we see you tomorrow good morning today is a really really exciting day it's our last day in the european union and we're gonna head out to the middle east the sun is just coming up behind me over there and we head out that way and that is [Music] turkey [Music] she [Music] [Music] my thank you [Music] they're busy around here with some pretty serious gunfire i think they're shooting with shotguns like that one [Music] morning it was a very intense night i uh posted the threat on facebook to ask about the situation of the gunshots so some people say it could be a wedding kind of celebration thing and other people said it's for hunting the boars or to scare away the boys from their farmlands you gotta deal with your fears and probably if they should they shoot or in the air or they should really specific at the animal so i guess we will be safe three degrees and it's pretty chilly we're not used to it yet the fall has gone really fast here in turkey feels like winter is just around the corner [Music] good morning y'all uh winter wonderland we think so so there's snow on the 10th and uh let's get it off [Applause] [Music] so [Music] are you excited yes yes i can feel it in my stomach it's always a little bit scary just border crossing [Music] hello [Music] morning good morning early morning in this magnificent location it was a very long night and we're a little bit tired so we're brewing the coffee right now and then we have some breakfast [Music] [Music] it has been an overwhelming day so many people asking us to take photos with them and asking us to come and visit their house to have lunch you feel like a celebrity here and it's nice for a while but if you're really famous and you have to deal with this every day man that's something else we're now here in this field we're enjoying some honey and some bread we got from a guy in hijab so i'm hungry i'm gonna dig in now [Music] mom [Music] foreign [Music] we're now deciding which way we're gonna take the bicycles over the river because the current is really really strong so we never really told you but we really love to do obstacle runs with a bicycle a big vertical wall eric is now chatting if we can pass anywhere [Music] [Music] okay [Music] [Music] it's still pretty early here in baku and we're packing up the bikes to go to a lot from where we take the ferry to [Music] kazakhstan [Music] [Music] time works in a different way when you're traveling non-stop like yesterday we remember waving goodbye to our family and friends the in-between seems to be filled with a decade worth of valuable
