46 year old Rhonda Jewel out ofl one day after leaving a 10 montd baby girl in a vehicle that read 133 degrees on a State Street. A state attorney asked for Jewel to have no bond, but the judge ultimately said that wouldn't be fair because it's not a murder charge. He ordered her to wear a GPS monitoring device and
have no contact with the victim's family. It's a tragic case with tragic consequences and we'll have consequences for the
defendant,
but it. She is entitled to a bond while the only the case is investigat. But while it's what everyone is trying to determine what the prr outcome would be, a police repot says Joel told authorities she was babysitting the infant and picked her up Wednesday morning. Joel says she took the
baby to the
home where she was caring for three
other children. She went inside the home
without the baby and started talking

the baby outside. When the baby's mother came to k her up from the home, she foundr daughter still strapped in the . Eat, not breathing. The whole community suffers when something like this happens. We've seen it a number of times across the state and as well throughout the United States, especially these hot temperatur. It's happened. It's unfortunate. I don't think there's ever any intentionality to do it, and if there is, there will be a different charg. Family members requested
the judge take into account her lifelong
ties to Baker County and lack of a
criminal history. He ended by reminding Joel thers still life after the most tragif events. Everyone has

a life. Altering event. That's that. It's happened Now the question s to try to pick whatever pieces up for each person will have to do to move forward in life. Now, many neighbors didn't wanto go on camera, but they did telle they felt that the consequences should have been more serious. The bond should have been set higher for Jewel. And I can tell you
first hand
that it has been extremely hot
out here today. When I've been walking around talking to neighbors, sweat has just been dripping
down my face. I know that Robert Speta, meteorologist, is there to tell us a little bit more about this hot weather.
