(upbeat music) - Good morning, everyone! Welcome to the table
that I just now realized is too small for us. (music) - Yeah (laughing) - [Jacob] Sorry! - She has a baby in here! - That's true. And that's actually kind of
the subject of today's video. We still don't know what we're
going to name the new baby. - So for our last baby,
Luke, we had a video called "Baby Names We Love But Won't Be Using." I have not gone back
to look at that video, so I haven't done like
proper research to see if we'll be repeating ourselves today, but we each have the assignment to write down five-ish names that we love. And honestly, we do not have a name yet, so we could end up using
any of these. I do not know. I really am doing this video
so that Christopher will talk baby names with me because (laughing) I keep saying, "Christopher,
we need to come up with a baby name!" - I feel like we've
talked about baby names. - Anyway, we have not sat down and had like a proper baby name discussion that ended in a baby name, so, basically that's
what this is right now. - So we just turned it into a video. This is our family discussion on names. Welcome to the family. - We may have picked the same names. - Yes. Oh, I haven't looked
at any of the kids' names. - Yeah, we all did this in private. - Duncan had help with
writing down some of them. - I did too. - And so did Parker. - Mine was kind of rushed, so I took um, names from characters in books and movies. - That's a great way to do it. And we are having a little boy, but if somebody wanted to
say girl names they love, they're welcome to say girl names. - Is it okay if I go first? - Yes, absolutely. - I think my top one would
probably be Aaron and... - Aaron? - Yes, and I would like
to call him "Ay-ay-ron." - I like the name Aaron. I have always really liked it. I knew a girl named Aaron when
I was a kid and it was nice, but I particularly like it for a boy. - I have the um, name Peter on here, too. And Jeremy. - Oh, little Jeremy
Jordan influence there? - I got this from Duncan,
because he really wanted to name the baby this at the beginning: Phoenix-Frank, one word. Phoenix-Frank. And Tim-Taco, because I love tacos. - Classic. - Still do. - And it's our grandpa's name, so. No, Tim, but not Taco. (family laughing) - I have a rule with names
that I really like to have like a nickname-y feel to them. So, like Bailey, but I
even call her, like, Bay, or like I call Parker Parky,
Dunkin Dunky, Jakey Jakey, Luke is Lukey or Lulu. So I really like to be
able to shorten the names. - Add a little "ey" at the end. - And add a little "ey" if
necessary, or if I'm feeling it. (Parker laughing) - My name already has an "ey"
at the end, so, they're done. - And we do have this
interesting thing where all of our kids have two syllable names, like, that seems to be how we do. - Phoenix-Frank is just... - That's too, way too long. - Okay, go ahead Duncan,
let's see your list. - Little Seed. - Little Seed? - Okay, Little Seed. So where did you come up
with the name Little Seed? - Hmmm... Remember that video that we did during the (mumbles)? - When we told you that I was pregnant? - Yeah. - Yeah? - So I said that. - But where did you come
up with it originally? - I just, I just, I just
really, really like that name. Jim Jim. - Jim Jim! - That's a nice one! - Frank. - Frank! - I just really, really know that name. - You know Frank? You know that name? - You know the name. - Is this a list of names you know? - Or do you think baby just
seems like a little Frank? (family laughing) - What's the next name on your list? - Frank Matroll. - Frank Matroll. So it's like
Frank, but like a next level, cause of Matroll. How? I just really deeply wanna understand how you're coming up with these names? - Well, I think this one was
inspired by the last name, to begin with. - Okay, but what about the Matroll part? Where does that come from? - Mm, I just really know that name. (family laughing) Rolly-Thingy. - Rolly-Thingy? (family laughing) - That certainly describes the first, like, four to five month time. Rolly. - So it's...Wait wait, it's:
Little Seed, Jim Jim, Frank, Frank Matroll, and Rolly-Thingy. (family laughing) - Rolly-Thingy. - Sorry. - No, it's great! Thank you. - These are great names. (family laughing) - Of those names, do you have a favorite? - Um, well, I really, really like Frank. - You think this is a Frank? - No. - What? (family laughing) Well, what of your names you
think this baby would be... What would be a good name for this baby? - Just Frank. - Okay so, look again at this baby, so, you think this baby is a Frank? Frank Ballinger? - Frank. - You like it? - Imagine holding him and going, "Hello little Frank?" - You like that, little baby Frank? - Yeah. - Yeah? Alright. - No, just Frank. - Just Frank. - Just Frank. - No Matroll. - That's just a backup. That's the backup Frank. - Wait! - It's the middle name. - Wait for what? - Wait. - Yeah. - Wait. - Mm. - I want Frank to be its first name, and then Troll to be its middle name, and then uh, uh, Ballinger
to be its last name. - So Troll or Matroll? - Troll. - Duncan's input is, has been heard. Jacob, did we get a
favorite name from you? Like, what's your top name? - Um, Aaron. - So we've got Aaron and Frank Troll. Alright. (family laughing) Parker, your turn next. - I've got Jimmy. Wait,
no. Jamie. And then James. And then I've got Dwayne,
and then I've got Dwight. - Well you just ran right through them. - Went through it. So, Jamie
is a nickname for James, so James kind of covers
Jamie, which is nice. - I hope so. - I'm just saying that's kind of cool. You kind of got a little doubler in there and I really like that name. That's like, on my top names list. - Okay. - The downside for me is
that it is very popular and I like, this boy names
are so hard for me because, you have like, - They're hard for me too. - Yeah, you have like the top 20 names that are like, very popular... - Frank Matroll. - Like Frank Matroll, that are just in that top 20 (giggles) and, like, they're so common. - Frank Matroll! - Frank Matroll. And then it like, it's not like with the... - Frank Matroll! - Okay, it's not like with the girl names where you have, like, kind
of three-hundred or so... - Frank Matroll! (giggles) - Like, very popular names. - Frank Matroll! (giggles) - It's like, the girl names
don't get like super weird really fast, and the boy
names kind of seem to. Like you have 20 and then you
drop off a cliff into like... - Frank Matroll. - Kind of weird things. - Frank Matroll!
(family laughing) - I love the name James. I love
the nickname for it: Jamie. But I don't know... - Frank Matroll! (giggles) - Because it's so popular.
So that's the only, that's like, the setback for me. - Frank Matroll! - Frank Matroll. So we got Jamie and James, Peter, which is a fantastic
name, I love the name Peter, but you have to understand
that Spiderman's name is Peter Parker, and I
can't have a combo of kids between Parker and a Peter and say, "Oh, Peter and Parker, come here!" Like, people will look at
me, and not in a good way. Because it's like, it would
be like I named my kids combined Spider-Mans. When we were naming you
Parker, you were almost Peter, like that was top on the list. But somebody else that
I love very dearly said it was one of their number one names and I didn't wanna take
that name from them. So that's why I leaned into Parker. And then Dwight, that's
very Office of you. (giggles) You haven't seen The Office, so where does the name
Dwight come from for you? Like, why is that? - I haven't seen The Office. - I just like the name. - We also had Jim Jim,
we had Jim and Dwight, so I'm expecting a Michael
or a Scott at some point. - Wait till you get to my list. - Or, or Shrute! A Shrute! - Yeah, Bailey if you don't have a Shrute, I'll be very disappointed. - Oh, oh! (family laughing) - What is your number one on that list? - Probably James. - Okay, I'm kind of confused, because I thought up until
now that you've been pushing for the name August. Did you forget it, or..? - I kind of forgot it. - My list is basically
just a whole bunch of names I took from movies and books and TV shows and stuff, so. Musicals, too. - That's good. A little
pop culture inspired. - Alright, let's hear 'em. - Leo. - Is that from Leonardo DiCaprio, or...? - No! (dad laughing) Oh my gosh. It's from Heroes of Olympus. He's my favorite character, okay. - Okay. - Leo Valdez. - It's a different generation. - Fire powers! Fire powers! - People from my age would be
like, yes, Leonardo DiCaprio, of course, Titanic. - Next we have, um, Dex, - Yes, short for Dexter, or...? - Dexter, yeah. - Okay. So I know you're thinking Dex from Keeper of The Lost Cities, - Yes. - Which is great. Okay, so you should know,
because I know you're so into pop culture, that name
Dexter also has connotations as a serial killer, 'cause
there's a TV show called Dexter. - Um, Hiro. - Hiro spelled how? - H-I-R-O. - Hiro Hamada. - From Big Hero 6? - Yes. Alex. - Alex. Alexander the Great. - Alexander Hamilton, okay. - And Alexander the Great. - The only one that isn't
book related or movie related or show related or musical related, is Jamie, which I've been wanting, I wanted to name Luke, actually. Um, and then we have Peta. - Peta. From what, Bailey? - Oh, I'm sorry. I was
excited cause I connected and knew what it was. - Yes. Okay, and then Percy. - Oh, Percy. - Interesting. - What is your top name? - Leo. - Leo? - Leo, huh. Interesting. - I was not expecting. Little Leo? - Yes. - Leo Ballinger? - Yes. - I was under the impression that this video was gonna be called: "Baby Names We Love,
But We Are Not Using." So, the baby names that I
love that we're not using... - Wait! Do you have a secret name that you are using somewhere? - No. (family laughing) - Then why does it sound... (laughing) - So the names that we
aren't using that I love are, Bailey, Jacob, Parker, Duncan, and Luke. - Ugghhhhh! - Here's a name... (Duncan screaming) - Here's actually, I have a name that was on Duncan's list, kind of. (family laughing) - Don't we all? - And also kind of on their two lists. I actually really liked the name Jim. - Jim Jim? - Jim! - I feel like I've ruined the name by naming a character in
a TV show, Jim, already. - Uncle Jim And that was the reason
why we've talked about the name, James, I've been like, "Christopher, you have an
Uncle Jim from the Miranda Lore and Miranda verse." - He also, like, actually
has an Uncle Jim. - Yeah and you actually
have a real life Uncle Jim. Your Uncle Jim was a
lovely and wonderful man. Did you guys know that the name Jim comes from the name James, like
somebody who's named Jim was probably born James. - I didn't know that, but now
that I'm thinking about it, it make sense. - There have been a bunch
of really cool Jimmy's in the world in the past. There's Jimmy Hendrix,
Jimmy Page, Jimmy Stewart. I can keep going with Jimmy's. - Wait, wait, you said James. - James. Jim. - Jim, just Jim. - Jimmy. - Jimmy, not James? - Not James. - Like you would just skip the name James and go straight into
naming Jimmy as the kid. - Yeah, yeah. - Like, with no hope for any other... - Well, if he wants to
be called something else, - Like Jimmy Ballinger
on the birth certificate. - Uh, yeah. Just skip all the other ones. No, maybe, no. We'd probably
do the same thing we did with Luke, where it's Lucas
on the gift, on the birth... - Gift certificate! (laughing) Think we won him at a raffle. (family laughing) - Next name. Daniel. - Okay. - You can say Danny. - Yeah. - It's a good name. Okay. What about the name, Charlie?
Charles, but you could call him Charlie. - Charles Dickens? - Charlie! - Charles Dickens, Charlie
and the Chocolate Factory. Think about, - Charlie Chaplin! - Charlie Chaplin. - Charlie Chaplin. - I just laughed about uh, uh, uh, uh, Charlie Chaplin. - He's pretty funny, huh? - Yeah. Duncan is a huge Charlie Chaplin fan. - I like the name Smith. - Okay. Alright. Represent! - Yes, cause that, that was your last name. - Yes. - But, I feel like it's too what my parents did with Trent. Right? It's kinda like the same, same move. - I feel like it's hard to nickname it. It goes into Smitty. - Or Smithy. - Smithy. Like, I don't know. I don't feel that. It's
not like cute and cuddly, like in the way that I need. - You could call him "Smee." (Bailey laughing) - It's just like, I think
it's a really cool name. And that's it. - What about the name Wyatt? - I like that. - Nice. - I got a couple cowboy names here. That's one of them. - All I think is Super Why. Super Why, super hero, Super Why! - Was his name Wyatt? - Yes, very much so. - I'd sing that a lot.
So as long as you're okay with hearing that on repeat
from me at the very least. - Hmm. Talked me out of it. (mum laughing) What about Maverick? Too many syllables? - Maverick. - Yeah, it's like, it's
a very cool name again. It's kind of like in the
realm of Smith, but like, and then it's got Ricky
as the nickname and I feel like that's, that's like two
very different feelings there. - Or Mav. - Mav is the shorten and it's not cute and not fun. Like I'm not
saying it's not good or cool, but it's not cuddly cute. - Charlie Chaplin. - Charlie Chaplin. - I don't think it's as cute and cuddly, like what you said. And I
think it's more like, like a movie star would get names like that. - I'm actually surprised
you didn't say Milton. - I was trying to do different
ones. I still like the name Carter, but I know why it
doesn't work, because our last name is Ballinger. And then it becomes "Cart-ar Ball-an-gar," like it's just, - But Parker is like that, too. - "Park-ar Ball-an-gar." I guess so. If you say it in that voice. - Yeah, so say it in not that voice. - Parker Ballinger. - No, well, Carter Ballinger. - Cart-ar Ball-an-gar. (kids laughing) I can't not do it in that voice. Maybe that's the problem. - Yeah, I do not remember
our old video at all. Like I do not remember what I said before, so I might end up saying the same things. I do not know. My number one name for the longest time in my life, I think
maybe even before I knew Christopher was the name Sebastian. I love that name. The only reason I haven't
forced you to name one of these little wonderful
humans Sebastian is because I don't have a
good name, nickname for it. Like I can't, I don't, Seb isn't it. Um, Bastion is really
cute, but it doesn't do. It's not like, like I, I
have to be like Bastey. - Well do this little experiment. This is what I do a lot, Jacob. - Yeah. I know you look at them. - He does not look like a Sebastian to me. - He a hundred percent
looks like a Sebastian. He looks like a Sebastian. He looks like a Sebastian. They all look like a Sebastian. - None of them look like Sebastian's. - Solidly Sebastian. - Maybe this one a little bit. - I'm not Sebastian. - Mmm, you could be, I don't know. - This. This. - A little bit. - Whenever I hear the name
Sebastian I think of the crab - I love the crab! This has been my (indistinct). - I'm not Sebastian! - It makes me think of a singing crab. - Okay, I mean, you guys just watch too many Disney movies. It is a solid name. And if anything, I think of
Never-Ending Story, which is like: "Bastion!" - I am never a Sebastian. - That's Bastion, not Sebastian. - It stands for Sebastian. That's my number one name. And I would be like, - Closed down, closed down! - He's closing down that name. - I'm just saying the
only reason why I'm not like sticking my foot in the ground about it is that I cannot for
the life of me think of what I need to fulfill my nickname needs. Okay, my next name on my
list is James, so that's a me and daddy overlap. Me and Bailey overlap. - Kind of. - Oh, yeah, except you
were going with Jimmy. Next one is Phoenix. - Phoenix. - This has been the top
runner in our naming. I will say. That was like,
we've been really, I like, I think we probably weren't
even going to say it in this video because
like, we've been really... - I'm kind of shocked you did. - What do you think of the name Phoenix? - I do not like that name. - What if we named him
Phoenix Frank Troll? - (laughing) Yes! (family laughing) - Okay. Next name on my list
is, I do like the name August. I put it on here, kind of because of you. Cause I know how much you like it. - I really like it. - I like Auggy. - And that's the month he's
most likely to be born in. - I don't think there's
any way he could be born any other month. - I mean, yeah, hopefully not. - I don't think he would go
so overdue that he would lean into September, but I don't know. - But, also, like there's the potential of it happening earlier and
we don't want that either, but - I guess you're right. - We don't want that
either, but it could happen. - Yeah. I've never gone that, that early. So I'm assuming August. Jonah is a name that's been on our list since you. - No. - Well, I'm glad I didn't
name you that apparently. - We're not naming you, Jacob. We're naming the baby. - Jonah is definitely
not going on this baby. - I'm saying, you could
name the baby Jacob Jr. Because he's named after, - No, Jacob Jr. does not work. (mum laughing) You're not the father. I am. - How about Billy? - Jacob Sr. - What about, - Nope, that doesn't work either. For multiple reasons. - My next name is Noah. - I love it! - You love it? We've also, Jonah, Noah,
and Jacob were our three top names when we were
trying to pick, I think when we were probably thinking
of names for Bailey if she was a boy. And then we were trying to pick for Jacob, but my issue with the name
Noah is that you're saying, "No, uh, I'd rather have that," or "No, uh, can you get that for me?" And I feel like, I'd
say the name Noah a lot. It would be very confusing or like yelling out "no" at a park, like, I don't know. I feel like there are a lot
of Noah's and they don't have this issue. So this name is also like the name Wyatt. Um, It's very similar and it's Wiley. - I like that. Yes. - Wiley? Like the coyote? - Like the E coyote. Wiley E Coyote. Isn't that how he does it? Is it Wiley E Coyote or Wiley Coyote? - I don't think so. - It's Wiley Coyote? - I don't know. I don't know how he spells it. I just know his name is Wiley Coyote, and so, you know, that's the
name of that cartoon character. - That's the name of that
extremely old reference that no one would get any more
at this point in the world. - I think it's the same
as naming it after a crab. - No, I think Sebastian the
crab is a little bit more popular than Wiley Coyote at
this point in pop culture. - I mean, Wiley sounds
like a coyote to me. - I have no clue what that means. - Well do you guys like the name? - Yes! - Yeah. I love it. - I don't. - I really like the
name Tucker, but it has an unfortunate rhyme. - It's also "Tuck-ar Ball-an-gar." Same issue as Carter. - I don't know why you're
having problem with this. Your son, Parker, has
never had this issue. - And Parker and Tucker. - Parker works. - And I also have the name Logan on here. - From Veronica Mars? - From Veronica Mars. Like, that's, that's the extra part to it. Is that it's like definitely not, - Why is there so much, uh, words? - Just so many, I don't know. So, - Why is your list so long? - So, anyway, my point is, it's not just the name Logan. It's definitely the
Logan from Veronica Mars. Representative of that Logan. - It's also, like, a little
too harsh around the edges. Like none of our boys are that, - The name Logan is like so
soft and sweet and gentle. It's got a G right in the middle. - I feel like there's also some YouTuber drama associated with that name. - Oh, I forgot about those
popular YouTube people. - Yeah. So, I think that's out. - Do we have a name? - No. - Yes! - Bailey's got one. What's the name? - Leo. - Oh my gosh. (mum laughing) - That wasn't on anybody
else's list Bailey. - Neither were some of the
stuff on all their lists! - I really love my list. - Yeah, I'm in love with Frank Troll. - After hearing everybody's names, like what is everybody's favorite here? - Tim Taco! - Tim Taco! Tim Taco. - Frank Matroll. I actually, I have no idea.
I feel like I'm more lost now having had this conversation
than I was before. I don't even know the difference
between a gift certificate and birth certificate. I am clueless. While you guys aren't going to make this, - How about this? - Decision for us, we
do read your comments. So what was your favorite name? Or if you have a different name? - Frank Matroll! (family laughing) - What's your favorite? - Well I was really like, this is what I'm dealing with here. Like, every time I try
to have a conversation with Christopher about baby names, he like ultimately he gets to this point where he goes, "Okay, now I know less." - This is another thing that
happens is that you go, like, "I really like the name Phoenix" and I go, "Okay, hm, well let me
think about it," and then I think about it and I go, "You're right. Phoenix is the name." And
then you go, "I don't like that name anymore," or
"I want this other name." - Well, first of all, you
never said that is the name. I think you go like, I'm liking it more." Or like, you'll say it, but
it like, sounds different. So then I talk myself out of it. - I've named a file in
our computer Phoenix cause I thought that that's where I was putting all the baby footage. - I didn't know this! - That's like, that's- - These are the things
we need to communicate with each other, so tell me that instead, I'm going backwards in naming. - Like, if you look at
the ultrasound thing in our intro where it
says like "New Baby," that is actually titled
in the computer "Phoenix." Alright. Thank you guys
so much for watching. We're obviously very confused, but this is an exciting
journey that we're on. Make sure that you
subscribe to the channel and give the video a like,
and we will see you next time. (baby laughing)
